Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 29 Jul 2010 | 7:01 am Vivek Oberoi in Big Boss?
Rumours seem to be following Vivek Oberoi month after month. Even as the actor is neck deep into working with Ram Gopal Varma and ensuring that his next release Rakta Charitra gets just the right release and promotion, there have been new found rumours around him making a big splash on TV. Believe it or not but after the name Shah Rukh Khan was spoken about in hush hush tone, the newest entrant is Vivek Oberoi who has apparently been approached to host the new season of Big Boss.
"Of late there has been some buzz surrounding how Vivek too has come close to biting the television bug. Earlier there were talks about being approached to participate in the new season of 'Swayamvar' after Rakhi Sawant and Rahul Mahajan. Now there is a buzz in the air that he could well be hosting the new season of 'Big Boss' too as well", says an insider from the television industry who wished to be unnamed.
However, the truth is that as of now Vivek has no plan of doing Big Boss or any other television show.
While Vivek was unavailable for comment, a source close to him said, "What? Vivek is hosting 'Big Boss'? Now that's some news because Vivek is definitely not doing the show. Yes, there have been some murmurs around him hosting the show but none of that is true."
There can't be any smoke without fire though. It is hard to imagine that the news would have originated out of nowhere.
"Well, one can't be too sure", says the source in a careful tone, "However, it can be stated with confidence that Vivek is not even remotely contemplating getting into television. He has things to look forward to in the world of movies. There is Rakta Charitra getting ready for release. Also, there is a film happening with Mani Ratnam. He would like to totally concentrate on that rather than getting his attention diverted to other mediums."
Well, for all the late night television addicts out there who could have hoped for Vivek to be entering their living rooms on a daily basis and bring to fore the inside gossips of the 'Big Boss' inmates, there is going to be some wait for sure.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 29 Jul 2010 | 6:52 am Priyanka sports grungy look for 'Khatron Ke Khiladi 3'After showcasing her svelte figure in films like "Fashion" and "Dostana", Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra is set to sport a grungy look to host Colors' adventure reality show "Fear Factor - Khatron Ke Khiladi 3".Source: Entertainment News | 29 Jul 2010 | 6:44 am Kangana wants to play Anarkali
Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 29 Jul 2010 | 6:38 am Big B's unexpected 'guest appearance' with Ajay Devgn
The buzz about Milan Luthria's Haji Mastan bio-pic Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai is that Amitabh Bachchan makes a guest appearance in a very unexpected way.
When asked about the Bachchan presence in the film, director Milan Luthria says, "I don't know where you heard this. But it's true. In the course of the film Ajay's character's girlfriend played by Kangna Ranaut mentions to him that there should be a film made on his life. To this Ajay replies, 'Now you want me to turn into an actor?' Kangna then tells Ajay about this young intense actor named 'Ami' who is just right to play Haji Mastan."
The Big B had played Haji Mastan in Yash Chopra's Deewaar which was released in 1975. Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai is set in the 1970s. Interestingly Devgn, who plays Mastan in Milan Luthria's film was often compared to the Big B when he started his career, even by Jaya Bachchan.
Luthria says the Big B is not mentioned by name.
Says the director, "I'd never make any reference to Mr. Bachchan that can be considered even remotely disrespectful. But yes, Kangna refers to him as 'the young intense actor'.
Besides the fact that they both play characters inspired by the same real-life character, the interesting part of the Bachchan reference in Devgn's context is that the younger actor has perpetually been compared with the Big B's for the dark and brooding intensity.
In fact, Jaya Bachchan had long ago singled out Devgn as the successor to her husband.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 29 Jul 2010 | 6:28 am Paris Hilton idolises Kylie Minogue

Source: Entertainment - Google News | 29 Jul 2010 | 4:03 am Ranbir Kapoor takes active interest in Anjaana Anjaani music
A rounded up view of his films - this is one expects from a superstar once he achieves a certain status in the industry. His opinion is being sought, his thoughts are being listened to, his view points considered and his suggestions acknowledged. Of course it is a different situation when an actor is just seeing a rise up the stairs. In fact most of the times, any expression of thoughts during the making of a film may well be considered as interference and dismissed pronto. However, success comes with its own perks (read: confidence and active involvement) and this is what Ranbir Kapoor truly enjoyed when the music of his next release Anjaana Anjaani was being written.
"As is a known fact, after films like Wake Up Sid, Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year and Raajneeti, the need of the hour for Ranbir is to fast work on a romantic musical outing. Yes, there has been a Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani that has kept his stocks moving in the world of romcom affairs, hence keeping his young fan base growing exponentially. However, a hat trick of relatively serious films means that Ranbir had to get something truly frothy and funny rolling for him", says a trade follower, "Anjaana Anjaani was just the right film at the right time with the right co-star (Priyanka Chopra) and with a willing producer (Sajid Nadiadwala) who was more than happy to spend mega bucks in order to get the right vibes flowing around, sky was the limit for Ranbir."
Add to this the fact that he had friends for company helped his cause further. Adds a friend of Ranbir, "Siddharth Anand has been a close buddy of Ranbir ever since the days of Bachna Ae Haseeno, the actor's first success in Bollywood after the debacle of Saawariya. Also, he shares a great comfort with composer duo of Vishal and Shekhar, especially after the fun they had during the making of Bachna Ae Haseeno songs that went on to be huge hits, especially the title song and 'Khuda Jaane'. No wonder, once this team came together again for Anjaana Anjaani, it was imperative that an active collaboration took place."
"Yes, I did want Ranbir for his inputs on the music of Anjaana Anjaani", confirms Siddharth Anand, "Ranbir and I have keen music sense and with Vishal-Shekhar coming up with multiple ideas, I was happy to bounce them off to Ranbir as much as possible. Since his bungalow was pretty close to the studio where the music was being made, it wasn't difficult to handle logistics either since it was a quick walk down the road."
Vishal Dadlani too doesn't have any hesitation in acknowledging the fact that it was a collaborative effort after all. "Ranbir and Siddharth are buddies so it was imperative that they used to have discussions around the music. Ranbir was very interested in hearing what we were making", he says.
In fact for the title track of Anjaana Anjaani, Vishal and Shekhar came up with two options, each of which was altogether different from the other. "Siddharth, Ranbir, Shekhar and I sat together in the room and played both the options that had already been recorded", adds Vishal, "The idea was to go around the room, ask for opinions and pick one of them. Ranbir liked one of them. His choice is welcome because he is in tune with what the younger generation likes."

Source: Entertainment - Google News | 29 Jul 2010 | 3:59 am "I am not back to a normal life, but an extraordinary life" - Lisa Ray
Subhash K. Jha speaks with Lisa Ray about her health, career and life.
Is your illness completely gone? How far are you back to your normal life?
My disease, Multiple Myeloma, is in remission. We don't take the attitude that it is ever gone completely, but we monitor regularly and now I'm leading a particularly healthy life. However, that's why research is so important in the field of Multiple Myeloma- the next drug could be the one that saves my life. Someone told me, 'healing begins when you realise there's no cure'. I am not back to a normal life, but an extraordinary life because of the insights I've gotten and the changes I've made to my lifestyle. In a word: simplified.
You had spoken of spending time in India. When is that happening and how long will you be here?
I am in no rush and on no set schedule. I expect I will be travelling to India shortly for Rado- who have been steadfast in their support of me in this time. I will also probably be promoting 1 minute in India, with a view to donate some of the proceeds towards Multiple Myeloma research.
Have you gradually gotten back into the full swing of your career?
I don't believe in a swinging career. I believe in living my life to the fullest and career is just one small aspect of this. I think I sacrificed a lot of my life for my career to date and its time to balance this out now. Cancer is a huge wakeup call. Having said that, I'm exploring new creative opportunities. The point is to chase joy. I've also had some unexpected honours recently. I was invited to MC a luncheon for the Queen here in Toronto and I was also seated at the head table. It was a great experience. I'd also like to raise a lot more awareness for Cancer, Multiple Myeloma and stem cell technology. That will be an integral part of my career. As well as writing a book.

If not that then, why do women check out other women, also, why can't one woman compliment another? Well, that's been done to death, woman too have a few queries in tow. Well, we would have loved to say that the common factor that 'connects' all of the above is 'Ravi Baswani'. The sad news is that Baswani who redefined comedy in his own way in Indian films passed away yesterday.

After a relatively quieter first half of 2010, prolific composer Pritam is back in the limelight yet again. He has just delivered a chartbuster soundtrack in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, the songs of which can be heard from all nooks and corners. Moreover, he has a jam packed second half of the year ahead, what with biggies like Action Replayy, Golmaal 3 and Crook: It's Good To Be Bad in the offing.
While it is a given that there would be at the least a couple of chartbusters in each of his forthcoming films (well unless law of averages proves otherwise), there also has been a strong buzz around him doing a few promotional music videos. This is not something new for him though since in the past, he has faced the camera while shooting songs for films like Life In A Metro and Mukhbir.
No wonder, it didn't sound improbable when news started making the rounds that he, along with one of his favourite singers Neeraj Sridhar, was roped in for promotional tracks of Action Replayy and Golmaal 3. While Pritam is working for the first time with Vipul Shah - the maker of Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai starrer Action Replayy - he has been a constant fixture with Rohit Shetty after Golmaal Returns and All The Best.
However, when enquired, Rohit dismissed the theory about Pritam being used as a face of the music as well. "No, he is not doing any music video of Golmaal 3. There was never even a plan for this so it is surprising that such a piece of news has actually floated around. In fact I am hearing it for the first time", he says.
On the other hand Vipul couldn't hide his amusement when 'informed' about the presence of Pritam in his upcoming film.
"Now this is really funny", he says in amazement, "How could this be even a possibility? Especially so when I have Akshay and Aishwarya in my film. They are enough to be the face of the videos here. Pritam has done well in the studio while recording music and that's good enough for me."
Well, further investigation reveals that Pritam has indeed done a music video along with Neeraj but that's neither for Action Replayy nor Golmaal 3. It is in fact for 'not so usual suspect' Aashayein (starring John Abraham), the music of which has just hit the stands. The song in question is 'Mera Jeena Hai Kya' which features both Pritam along with Neeraj in a specially designed music video. This is not all as there is another song in the album as well that has a promotional music video made around it. Titled 'Dilkash Dildaar Duniya', it features Shaan.
Incidentally, Pritam is the guest composer of the film and has contributed only two songs in an album that mainly has Salim-Suleiman as the prime composers. Pritam was unavailable for comment.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 28 Jul 2010 | 3:16 am Priyanka performs heart-in-the-mouth motorbike stunts in Bangkok
Priyanka has just returned from shooting stunts in Bangkok, and she's super-excited. "I rode a dirt bike. I shot with an alligator and a bull. It was fun."
Now she's looking forward to providing a huge distraction to the contestants on Fear Factor. "That's what my intention is. To make them so distracted they won't be able to do their stunts."
After a rejuvenating birthday holiday in Phuket, Priyanka Chopra flew to Bangkok to shoot the promotional video for Khatron Ke Khiladi (Fear Factor).
About the holiday, Priyanka says, "Apart from the mishap that happened when I dropped my phone in the water and couldn't receive any birthday greetings, I had a fun time. Like I had told you before I left, I was generally not recognized. But even if I was I didn't mind. Being recognized is part and parcel of what I do." Priyanka feels a change within herself. "I feel I've become reclusive. I like to be within myself."
The stunts involved a motorbike race where Priyanka challenged a group of punks to a race through a terrain that would scare even a Grand Prix winner. Priyanka had to ride through some of the most impossibly-rugged terrain. According to crew members who had gathered to shoot the video, the male mo'bike members used for the film were all professional riders used to riding at high speed through the most rugged hinterland.
Priyanka not only had to ride with these experts, she had to look better than them on camera. She had been secretly practising for the heart-in-the-mouth mo'bike stunts for weeks. The channel had offered to get a body-double to do the really intricate portions in the shooting. But Priyanka insisted on doing the entire mo'bike stunt-stint on her own.
So excited and charged did she get that she shot for a full twenty hours on the first of the two days of shooting in Bangkok.
Says Priyanka, "There is no challenge in half-measures. You either do the whole thing or don't do it at all. I've always been fascinated by mo'bikes. I love mo'bike stunts. When I had seen Tom Cruise do the mo'bike stunts, my first thought was, 'Gawd if only I could get to do that.' I guess my wish came true."
The ride was not all fun and games. Priyanka has returned to Mumbai with quite a number of bruises. "But the pain was worth it. You can't be one of the boys on the bike and not get your share of bruises."
She intends to wrap up all her assignments by October before heading for the shooting of Don 2 in Berlin.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 28 Jul 2010 | 3:09 am
