Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 8 Jul 2010 | 9:39 am Shiamak Davar to turn director
He has danced his way to fame, and has even coached and choreographed some of Bollywood's biggest stars, he is none other than Shiamak Davar. Well known choreographer Shiamak seems to have had his fill with just choreographing and will soon be seen in a new avatar, that of a director.
Shiamak Davar, who started his career by choreographing for films with Yash Chopra's Dil To Pagal Hai, will be directing his film titled A Slumdog Millionaire Goes Dancing.
On the other hand, we wondered whether Yash Raj would be producing the film, but au contra, Percept Pictures has stepped in as producers. Apparently, the film itself is about a bunch of slum children being trained to participate in a dance competition.
Shiamak has been thinking of directing a film for a while now and there is no surprise that his first film revolves around dancing considering that he has made a career out of it.
Sources within Percept have confirmed the news saying that yes they will be producing the film which is being directed by Shiamak, while the kids who feature in the film will be chosen after auditions. Further it is also being said that good friends and former students like Shahid Kapoor and Ruslaan Mumtaz may make guest appearances in the film.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 8 Jul 2010 | 7:39 am Prakash Jha gets Raajneeti catchphrase 'Karaara' copyrighted
Considering the word's surging popularity, Prakash Jha has registered the title Karaara for one of his future projects.
Besides giving Bollywood its first bonafide political hit, Raajneeti has also added a new aggressive adjective to the normal filmy vocabulary.
So powerful and all-pervasive is the impact of the word 'Karaara' (powerful) that it's now being used liberally at celebrity events and reality shows. Prakash Jha who co-wrote the dialogues of Raajneeti (with Anjum Rajabali) was shocked to hear judges on reality- television using the word.
"I was quite taken back when after a contestant's performance a celebrity judge turned around to call it a 'karaara performance'. Good we've added a weighty word to filmy dialogues."
Not so good is the clamour to register film titles with the word 'Karaara' in it. Jha was alarmed when his office started getting calls from several production houses asking if the word Karaara was copyrighted by Prakash Jha as a film title.
Says Jha, "It was only then that I realized I had given a potential title for the title-starved industry. Though I don't intend to name any of my new film Karaara, I've registered it for future reference in various combinations and permutations including of course Manoj Bajpayee's rabble-rousing "Karaara Jawaab Milega'."
Jha will part with the precious word on only one condition. "If Karan Johar asks me for it I'll give to him. I know he's strapped for Hindi titles."
In the meanwhile, Manoj Bajpayee who uttered the word on screen suddenly has catchphrase to combat the other popular Bihari Babu Shatrughan Sinha's 'Khamosh!' Manoj is being requested at every public event to say the line "Karaara Jawaab Milega."
Says Bajpayee, "I remember after Satya I was asked to say 'Mumbai Ka King Kaun?' Now it's 'Karaara Jawaab Milega' Not bad."
Manoj has been asked by at least two filmmakers to use it in his forthcoming films. But he refuses to do so. "I said the catch phrase in Raajneeti. But they were written by Prakash Jha and Anjum Rajabali. I've no rights over them."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 8 Jul 2010 | 7:31 am Orlando Bloom is new face of Hugo Boss's fragrance

After having endorsed leading products ranging from shoes, perfumes etc..., this (literal) blue eyed boy has now become the brand ambassador of Mistair suitings. The football fever is on in full swing with the Grand finale of the World Cup 2010 scheduled to take place this Sunday. A lot of our Bollywood celebs are already in South Africa or on their way to be part of this sporting extravaganza.
Spotted at yesterday's semi-final match between Spain and Germany was none other than superstar Shah Rukh Khan along with his kids Aryan and Suhana. SRK was joined by former IPL chairman Lalit Modi who seemed to be enjoying himself. Lalit Modi tweeted, "Beautiful eve in Durban. Nil at half time" While SRK and his son were rooting for Germany, Lalit Modi was supporting Spain.
In the end it was Spain who emerged victorious much to King Khan's disappointment. SRK tweeted, "Germany my team lost...feel bad taking my lil ones to matches where our team loses...but one day insha allah we will win...trust me kids." Now that his favourite team is out, it will be interesting to see which team SRK cheers on in the big final this Sunday- Spain or Netherlands?Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 8 Jul 2010 | 6:58 am "I've been hearing a lot of 'fugly'" - Imran Khan
It's strange but the fact that I called up Imran Khan to find out more on the on-going success of his rom-com IHLS put me in a spooky moment. The moment: the actor was shooting for his latest Coke advert with Dibakar Banerjee and you see his latest film buzzing with a lot of fizz. And then you recall your school days when Aamir Khan did the same thing (created a frenzied fizz) after the release of his blockbuster QSQT, then came some flops, and then Dil did the trick. Back to the future, Imran has become the blue eyed boy of Bollywood. And we won't be surprised to see girls camping outside his Pali Hill residence soon, if that's how we see his love story work. He was a pin up then, and is a pin up now. It's like this, Imran Khan is waxed in Madame Tussauds, and just like the British women created history by recording maximum number of kisses on the wax statue of Pattinson, our Indian female fans will surely achieve a new feat in the dome outside Bakers Street. UK's Harrow Observer columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent talks to the doubly born youth icon Imran Khan post the super success of his rom-com IHLS. And it's rather spooky, but his audiences still recall his Jaane Tu days. And what Imran didn't see coming were the teen girls who'd fallen in love with him once more. If that sounds cliché, God help Imran.
Never heard clichés working that well Imran...
I'll tell you very honestly, most romantic comedies have pretty much the same story line. What makes some work is how you treat it. It really is all about that. The most important thing in a romantic comedy is the interaction between the boy and a girl. If that works, you're game. Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was one of the most clichéd romantic comedies to be made but Abbas Tyrewala's treatment to the screenplay and how he shot it made the film work.
You're right Imran, because the word which people are seen using now-a-days is 'fugly'.
(Laughs) You know what...I've been hearing a lot of 'fugly' and 'idhar udhar ki baatein..vagera vagera'.
This is what audiences were saying after watching IHLS. "We were waiting for Imran of Jaane Tu." Were you waiting for the same Imran?
Apparently it was. I just didn't know it. For me, I never followed any kind of a pattern for working. I always went with what interested me. I see which directors have offered me scripts and I read them and pick the exciting ones. It's that simple. I picked IHLS on the same lines.
Do you guys discuss out the possibility of working together for a film in the near future?
Yes, of course. There are always conversations going on. If you meet anyone in the same field, then you start talking about the prospects of working together.
Karan Johar's biggest risk was Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. He changed romance from that film on celluloid. Till date, except Kurbaan, don't you think he has treaded the path of tried and tested and passed throughout?
I would disagree to that because a tried and tested formula doesn't always necessarily work. Also, I would disagree that IHLS is a tried and tested formula. The story is a classic romantic comedy but what is unusual about this film is the brand of humour. The tendency in Hindi films is very loud comedy or a slapstick comedy. You can see the joke coming. IHLS has a sharp humour. Lines are delivered in a flat tone, not to loud and a bit sarcastic too. The audiences had to catch the humour this time and that to me was really new. We've tried this very few times in this industry.
When do you buckle your shoes up for the success party?
I'm hearing rumours that there is a party tonight, so let's see. I might buckle up in a few hours (laughs).Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 8 Jul 2010 | 6:37 am I'm the only specialised villain: Gulshan Grover

What's common to Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Mahima Chaudhary, R Madhavan, Rajneesh Duggal, Aditi Govitrikar and... the super gorgeous Lara Dutta? Well, we do agree that, all of them have been achievers and super-achievers in their own right of the word. But, besides all of this gyaan, the one word that binds them all with Lara Dutta is PETA.
You got it right. Readers may recollect that Bollywood Hungama had broken the news of Lara being chosen the latest ambassador of PETA. Well, now, we bring to the images of the sultry Lara in a spectacular full-length gown made of lettuce leaves and other vegetables. For starters, it's the ace Gavin Miguel who has designed the dress, while it's the ace fashion photographer Jatin Kampani, who is to be complemented for shooting the ads.
Speaking about PETA, the sensuous Lara said, "Even seemingly small choices can have a big impact on our health, our community and the world around us. Going vegetarian is one of the easiest ways to improve our health, help countless animals and protect the Earth."

Source: Entertainment - Google News | 8 Jul 2010 | 4:12 am "Hrithik and I did meet up" - Shekhar Kapur
Is he or is he not playing a lead in the biggest and the most ambitious film ever by a film maker of Indian origin? This has been the question making the rounds of the industry circles ever since his last venture Kites got tangled at the box office. We are talking about Hrithik Roshan whose presence in Shekhar Kapur's Paani is turning out to be mystery. In wake of any official confirmation coming in from either the director or the actor, there is no absolute certainty around the two joining hands for this multi million dollar film which would be shot in India.
With the commencement of the test shoot of the film in the slums of Juhu, it is now certain that Paani is happening for sure. However, with no concrete announcement around Hrithik coming in, there are doubts creeping in about his Hollywood dreams finding any further direction after Kites.
"Kites is a big setback as far as working in mega crore ventures for Hrithik is concerned", comments a trade follower, "In the past he has done quite well in national as well as international circuits as long as he was making films for Indian audience and told stories in an Indian way. He did experiment in a big way with Kites and as is known to one and all by now, the film neither cut an ice in India nor overseas."
As of now, Hrithik has left the debacle of Kites behind and moved on to Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Meanwhile Shekhar Kapur is in India and busy with the test shoot of Paani. He is quite calm though when questioned around the status of Paani, the first full fledged film that he is directing three years after Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007).
He says, "It is still too early to talk about casting at all. There is no point doing that because the film has been going through final stage of scripting. It is being completed as we talk. Post that an announcement around casting would take place."
Meanwhile, what's the last word on Hrithik when it comes to Paani? After all there can be no smoke without fire. Was he or was he not approached for the film? Were there any discussions whatsoever or was everything coming out of thin air?
"Hrithik and I did have discussions around Paani and we are interested in working with each other. However, just being interested enough doesn't necessarily amount to a collaboration taking place. There are a lot of factors that have to be considered. The process is on and we would know by end of July. Stay tuned", signs off Shekhar.

Kareena Kapoor arrived in Tangiers in Morocco on last week. And in less than 24 hours she had fallen in love with the place.
Sighs the restless diva, "Saif and I are at the border of Spain and Africa near Gibraltar. It's heaven on earth. Morocco is stunning. The people here are crazy about Hindi movies. The little Moroccon girls sing my song Yeh ishq haye from Jab We Met in Arabic. "
Kareena can't stop gushing about the local kids. "They've stolen my heart. They look how I used to look when I was a child. Plump cheeks, fair skin....They're sooooo adorable! They love Shah Rukh Khan and me. They've watched all my movies. They've a Bollywood Hindi movie channel where all our movies are played. They love Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Jab We Met the most."
About shooting for Agent Vinod the producer's better-half says, "Tangiers is so gorgeous. No Indian film has ever been shot here. This movie is going to be something else. Saif and I want Agent Vinod to look like no other movie before."
While Saif will be doing hardcore action scenes Kareena herself will have stunts to perform. "I do have my share of running around both off and on camera. I don't intend to be just the producer's girlfriend."
Saif of course is chuckling in delight at Kareena's enthusiasm for Morocco. The home that he brought for the two of them to stay together in Mumbai remains locked up, unused, half-furnished and undecorated.
Laughs Kareena, "It's beome a joke between me and Saif. He left the entire designing and furnishing to me. I did some of it initially then there was no time. So now until I give the home attention we can't do anything with it. It's...frozen!"Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 8 Jul 2010 | 3:43 am Hrithik Roshan to be waxed at Madame Tussauds

If at all the adage of 'seen it and done all' was ever supposed to hold good, Sanjay Gupta would certainly be a forerunner. In a decade and a half long professional journey, the man may have directed only eight films starting with Aatish (1994) and ending with Zinda (2006). However, in the process he has seen friends turning foes, his very own spouse being lost and regained, personal relationships turning ugly, super success followed by critical acclaim, a long period of being ignored by his very own film fraternity and a long period sabbatical which could have broken anyone's back. Still, the man has managed to stay afloat, albeit with quite some trouble at every juncture.
Sanjay, while you are smiling today, the fact is known that things weren't quite rosy for you during last five years due to which you had to hold on before starting a project. Rumours have it that once your friendship with Sanjay Dutt came to a close, there were quite a few challenges that you had to face from within the
industry. (Says after a pause) There have been a lot of people whom I had known for 20 years and considered them as friends. I had supported them in the worst of their times. However, overnight they turned once my problems with Dutt emerged. I realised that these people were nothing but star struck motherf$%^*rs who were around me just because of the kind of exposure it gave to them. In a way all of this was a nice eye opener. I am glad that a lot of crap went out of my life.
Well, there were some actors also openly refused to work with you and didn't even come up with any excuses. Is that true? Arrey yaar, there was a 'fatwa' out on me, as simple as that. Why just the stars, there were even some technicians who had nothing to do with White Feathers, me or my problems with Dutt. Still, they went against me. However, all of this is now a thing of the past. Today so many of these people are not even in the business. I have been in the industry for long and hence understood that this time will also pass by. I had a share of friends
whom I lost but theek hai, hota hai.
You just mentioned the word 'fatwa'. Was it really that bad Sanjay? There have been so many actors who have been open enough to admit to me that they had received this 'fatwa'. They were so scared about the forces external to them that quite a few of them actually cut off all ties from me. However, once they realised that all of this was sheer bullshit, they did come around later. They apologised and said that they were confused. They were forced to take sides and didn't have any other choice because not doing so would have impacted their career.
Who were these people? (Laughs) Jaane de naa yaar, sabko pata hai. Kyon unka naam loon. They came back with the right earnest and intent and this is what that matters. I appreciate that they had balls to do so.
As has been known, one of the few men who stayed on with you was Manoj Bajpai. Though he has worked in only one production of yours (Acid Factory), he was a pillar of support despite no professional compulsions. Isn't that strange, especially in an industry like Bollywood? The whole relationship with Manoj is based on honesty and sincerity. As you correctly mentioned, from professional standpoint hum donon ko ek doorse se kuch bhi lena dena nahi hai. However, if you ask me about my 4 am friend today, I would say that it is Manoj. Other than him, most of the cast of Acid Factory has been staying besides me solidly as well over last so many months.
Well, that is quite surprising actually considering the fact that the film was a disaster at the box office. The root cause of Acid Factory meeting such an ill fate is a couple of monkeys who were sitting in Mumbai Mantra, the company which had acquired the film. They didn't have any clue about distribution or timing of release. When I kick started business with them, I thought of doing so because it was an Anand Mahendra company. I expected sensible people there. However, once I realised these people were totally incompetent on the work front, I shot a long elaborate mail to Mumbai Mantra. I mentioned in bold words that the film would be the biggest box office debacle of the year.
Rarely does one see a film maker being so confident about the failure of his film. (Laughs) No idiot releases a film one week before Diwali. This is the time when people are busy shopping and taking care of other household things. Par yeh maharathi log sochte they that just because we were getting a solo release, we should bring on Acid Factory. They released it at a worst possible time and that too without correct promotion and marketing. Flop toh honi hi thi. Uske baad kya hua? Ultimately these people were fired and today Mumbai Mantra has shut down. For them it didn't make any difference
because they have crores at their disposal. While they were just experimenting, for us it was a world that was shattered.
I am sure you must have been shattered. I was so disappointed and so were my director and the cast. They had put their heart, body and soul in it. I stand by the movie. It was kick ass. Even critics were more or less positive about the film. But then the sad part was that even my own close relatives were not aware about the film being released. They used to ask that 'Beta, picture kab lag rahi hai' and I had to sheepishly say that 'woh toh aake chali gayi'. Nothing can be more embarrassing than that. Today, I actually want to use this platform to apologise to my team that I let them down by signing up with Mumbai Mantra. Sorry guys, I was helpless.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 8 Jul 2010 | 3:40 am Trisha can’t have enough of MumbaiTrisha Krishnan, one of the leading ladies down south can’t seem to get enough of the city ever since she started shooting for her Bollywood debut –Priyadarshan’s Khatta Meetha.Says Trisha, “Mumbai truly never sleeps. They say that, the only thing constant in life is change. Who better than the residents of B-town to vouch for this. It's on a Friday that the fate of an actor is decided. No wonder, it's said that 'An actor is as successful as his last film'.
The last few months have been witnessing a mammoth of changes as far as replacements of brand ambassadors are concerned. Last year, the whole of Bollywood came to a staggering standstill when the gorgeous Ash was replaced by the cool-cat Katrina. The latest brand to go in for a replacement of its ambassador is the denim major Levis, who had, till now, Shahid Kapoor as their brand ambassador. Sources close to Bollywood Hungama claim that Shahid is now being replaced by the Jaane Tu...dude Imran Khan as the brand's latest ambassador.

Osborne has been associated with some really huge Hollywood blockbusters such as Face Off, The Matrix, Apocalypse Now and The Lord Of The Rings series of films. Osborne, who has been living in New Zealand for the last 10 years, has only recently moved back to LA for Chopra's new film. Besides Osborne, Fred Roos has also been brought on board as executive producer to put the project and cast together. Roos has been the producer of cult films such as The Godfather Part II and III, The Outsiders and Lost In Translation. He has worked with Osborne on Apocalypse Now as well.
Says Vidhu Vinod Chopra of this association, "Barrie helps us get the scale of the film right. As for Fred, I met him a few years ago as a student on the sets of The Godfather. On Saturday, Ranbir Kapoor threw his first- ever bash at his bungalow Krishna Raj in Pali Hill.
It looks like childhood friend, director Siddharth Anand can make Ranbir Kapoor do things which no one else can. Otherwise Ranbir throwing a party, and that too at his home where not too many guests are allowed? No way!
On Saturday night Ranbir had a wrap-up party for the cast and crew of his new film Anjaana Anjaani where everyone from host Ranbir to his dost Siddharth to his delectable co-star Priyanka Chopra, plus the entire unit including the American actors who had flown down to Mumbai to shoot a club song for Anjaana Anjaani last week, had a blast till the wee hours on Sunday morning.
Says one of the guests, "Ranbir's mom had looked into every detail. The food was Punjabi home cooked and yummy. Ranbir's dad Rishi Kapoor had crashed by the time the party started. Chintu Uncle's sleeping habits are invariable. Even when he has his own dinner guests' home, he starts getting restless after 9.30 and begins to switch off the lights and air conditioners as hints for guests to leave. We expected him to wake up from all the noise we made and come up any moment to switch off the music."
Anjaana Anjaani producer Sajid Nadiadwala was conspicuous by his absence. He's recovering from his illness and holidaying in Europe.
Says the source, "It didn't make sense to wait for Sajid to return. A wrap-up party has to happen immediately after the last day of shooting or not at all."
When asked how Ranbir who doesn't party much, was persuaded to host a party at his place, Siddharth Anand said, "Oh, I think I can make Ranbir do things no one else can. While we were shooting for Anjaana Anjaani in the US, I made him gift me an expensive watch. Ranbir, my wife and I are teetotallers and full-on foodies. We went through as many restaurants in the US as possible."
Adds Siddharth, "The wrap-up party on Saturday would've been Ranbir's second party hosted by him. I had persuaded him to host a wrap-up party after the completion of our first movie together Bachna Ae Haseeno. But we got late completing the last shots of the title song in Bachna...So all the food was sent by Neetu Aunty to Yash Raj Studios. This time we made it to Ranbir's home after the song. And yes, it was Ranbir's first party. We had a ball on Saturday night."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 7 Jul 2010 | 2:56 am
