Mumbai's deluge has just claimed its first Bollywood casualty. Madhur Bhandarkar's comedy Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji which was supposed to start shooting this week from July 1 has been postponed.
Madhur Bhandarkar confirms these developments. "I was supposed to start shooting with Omi Vaidya and Emraan Hashmi from July 1. All the scenes were outdoors in Mumbai, on the streets in public places. We didn't want the comedy to be restricted to the sets."
Alas, the rain gods had other plans. And now Madhur finds himself stuck with his two leading men's dates threatened with wastage.
Says Madhur, "We're going to start shooting from July 5. Hopefully the rains will be under control by then. If the weather doesn't improve we'll move indoors and shoot in cafes, etc."
In the meanwhile, the hunt is still on for a leading lady for Ajay Devgn. Says Madhur, "We've sometime before Ajay joins us to look for the girl."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 4 Jul 2010 | 5:29 pm "Those who feel 1-2 flops impact an actor don't understand business" - Imran Khan
I Hate Luv Storys has taken a fantastic opening at the box office, something which the entire team including Karan Johar, Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor were quite sure of once they wrapped up the film. Now that youth is patronising the film in a big way and spreading good word of mouth, Imran is expectedly pleased. More so because after the non-performance of Kidnap and Luck, it was Karan Johar who stood besides him.
"Karan offered I Hate Luv Storys not after the release of Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na but once Kidnap and Luck came and went. Now that states a lot", says Imran who took things in stride even as the going wasn't too good after the twin debacle, "Obviously he must have felt that I had something to offer. Besides that, I feel people within the industry are smart enough to know that one or two films flops don't mean anything in one's career."
But industry as well trade has its own way of perceiving things. While after Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Naa, he was marked as the next big thing, he was brought down with a thud after Kidnap and Luck.
"Well, all I can say is that those who feel that a couple of flops can impact an actor in a big way obviously don't have much understanding about the business", he says with a straight face, "I have had two films that have not done well but then this is nothing in one's career. Aaj meri picture hit hai, kal ek flop hogi aur uske baad phir ek hit hogi. I know that in my life there would be 100 hits and 200 flops."
However, one wonders though that over the year gone by, when he was billed as someone who couldn't quite repeat the magic of JTYJN, did he actually get impacted or stayed on to be cool because he had started working on newer films?
"Actually I had not signed anything new till the release of Luck", informs Imran, "IHLS was offered to me only around August/September last year. I don't really have much to say on what took it so long for me to sign a new film. I don't know and I have no explanations. However, the positive part was that I managed to spend enough time in the industry and saw my family more closely. I got a firm understanding that everyone has ups and downs."
Continuing in the same vein, he adds, "We have seen that any and every actor in the industry has had flops as well as hits. Of course you do feel bad when your film fails. You start introspecting on what is it that you have done wrong. All I could think of then was that audience has a certain expectation from me and I can't let them down."
"I want my audience to be happy. For me it is a very relevant thing that based on my name someone is buying a ticket. If they don't like a film then they have the right to say that I have cheated them", elaborates Imran, "However, this is not something that I would like. I have always felt very edgy about this. I know that I have to satisfy my audience and make them happy."
Well, looking at the kind of response that IHLS is currently fetching, Imran can be rest assured that audience is on his side this time around.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 4 Jul 2010 | 5:23 pm Hrithik Roshan will pay homage to Al Pacino in Agneepath remake
You would think Abhishek would be the first, last and natural choice to play Amitabh Bachchan's role in a new-age remake of the 1990's cult gangster film Agneepath. In fact it was presumed by a very large section of the entertainment industry that Abhishek would play the eponymous part of Vijay Dinanath Chauvan while Jaya Bachchan will play Vijay's mother played with such brilliant poignancy by Rohini Hattangadi in the original directed by the late Mukul Anand.
However, it has now come to light that Abhishek was never offered the lead in the Agneepath remake. Says a source, "When the idea of re-making Agneepath came to Karan Johar, he had right away locked in on Hrithik Roshan. It was a commitment to the actor who is very keen to give his own interpretation to the character. Hrithik will play it closer to Al Pacino in Scarface than Mr. Bachchan in Agneepath."
Agneepath, it would be recalled, was deeply influnced by Scarface. The neo- Agneepath, written and directed by debutant Karan Malhotra purports to pay homage to Scarface.
While refusing to discuss the cast, producer Karan Johar says, "All I can say at the moment is that my Agneepath is radically different from the Agneepath that my father (the late producer Yash Johar) has produced. We've completely done away with the South Indian character played by Mithun Chakraborty in the original."
With that bit of information, Mithun' s dreams of seeing his son Mimoh cast on the role he originally played also goes up in flames.
Karan Johar's Agneepath would be a solo act featuring Roshan who apparently will experiment with the rasping dialogue-delivery that Mr. Bachchan had attempted in the original Agneepath.
Many thought it was his gravelly way of speaking in Agneepath that did the picture in. Hrithik is determined to prove all the self-appointed soothsayers wrong.
Says Karan, "My father was very proud of Agneepath. I hope I don't let him down with my Agneepath. Amitji had won the National Award for Agneepath. It's a tough act to follow for any actor."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 4 Jul 2010 | 5:16 pm "Imran and Sonam's comfort with romcom genre showed" - Karan Johar
Karan Johar is mighty excited with the way I Hate Luv Storys has opened at the box office. A romcom that was never touted to be the kind of cinema that was out of the ordinary, this Punit Malhotra directed film has found good acceptance amongst the audience.
Karan too must be heaving a sigh of relief since both his leading actors, Imran and Sonam, were coming with a baggage of a couple of disappointments each. While Imran's last two films Kidnap and Luck were action affairs and didn't find patronage amongst the audience, it wasn't quite a conventional start for Sonam either after Saawariya and Delhi 6 not quite hitting the bull's eye.
"Well, I truly believe that hits and flops don't have anything to do with talent of an actor", says Karan who trusted in both Imran and Sonam even as the chips were down for them, "So many factors contribute to hits and successes. Imran was sweet and endearing in Jaane Tu⦠Ya Jaane Na while Sonam was confidence personified in Delhi 6."
No wonder, he didn't have any questions around the casting when director Punit Malhotra recommended the two names.
"It was entirely Punit's decision to go with Imran and Sonam. In any case, I don't inflict my opinion on my directors when it comes to casting", continues Karan, "A film has to be as per the vision of the filmmaker. Once Punit mentioned Imran and Sonam, I was all for it. I had complete faith in the two actors. Now that the film has released, their comfort level with the romcom genre shows on screen."
Every love story is bound to be aided by some great music and this is something that has come for all around appreciation in case of I Hate Luv Storys. It is being unanimously accepted that music by Vishal & Shekhar is one of the major cores strengths of the film.
"That's right, music is indeed the highlight of IHLS; it is indeed great", Karan gives out a nod of appreciation here, "What is really terrific about Vishal-Shekhar is that they work really work with first time directors. I have noticed that earlier in case of Dostana too where they gave full hearted support to Tarun Mansukhani. They give you a lot of time and that is their biggest strength that I have always appreciated. It's an amazing quality as they don't just give you a lot of respect; they are also willing to go all out for you. If you reject 10 tunes for a situation, they would come up with the 11th. They don't loose patience."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 4 Jul 2010 | 4:51 pm Bipasha: Dhoni's wedding was plannedContrary to rumours that Indian cricket captain M.Source: Entertainment News | 4 Jul 2010 | 4:35 pm Guess Who?
