Katrina Kaif seems to have really enjoyed the experience of working with Farah Khan in her directorial venture Tees Maar Khan, so much so that the actress wanted no one else but Farah to direct her in a forthcoming commercial.
Katrina was supposed to shoot a commercial for Etihad Airways (of which she has been appointed the brand ambassador recently) and when asked whom we she would want as the director, Katrina immediately suggested Farah's name.
Now Katrina (who is shooting in Spain for Zoya Akhtar's film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara) and Farah (who is in Mumbai) will meet at Abu Dhabi to shoot the commercial. The ad will be shot at Etihad's airport lounge at Abu Dhabi.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 26 Jun 2010 | 7:52 am Salman coaxes Mahesh Manjrekar out of no-acting vow
Mahesh Manjrekar had vowed to give up acting. But his new best-friend Salman Khan keeps coaxing Manjrekar back to the camera. For Salman's home production Dabangg, Manjrekar stepped into the role of debutante Sonakshi Sinha's father on Salman's say-so. That was meant to be Manjrekar's swan song as an actor.
But now he has again been persuaded to face the camera with Salman for Anees Bazmee's Ready. The funniest part of the director's enforced career as an actor is, he doesn't know what his role in Ready is.
Says Mahesh, "Salman said you have to do it. I know I decided I won't be acting anymore. But you can't say no to Salman. He said, 'You're in Ready and you're part of my family in the film. Beyond that, all I know is I play a positive role for a change."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 26 Jun 2010 | 7:16 am "Ready is a complete masala entertainer" - Bhushan Kumar
When it comes to music, he is the man with the Midas touch. Taking reins from his father at a young age, he has transformed his company T-Series into a force to reckon with in the Indian Music industry. He is also a producer who knows where to put his money. We are talking about none other than the dynamic Mr. Bhushan Kumar who has some really big projects like Ready, Patiala House and Kajraare in the pipeline. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama' s Nikhil Ramsubramaniam, Bhushan talks about the Salman Khan starrer Ready and future projects of T-Series. Read on...
After Lucky- No Time For Love, you are once again back with Salman Khan for Ready. How has been the experience this time around?
The experience with Salman bhai has always been very good since we have been involved with the music of many of his hit films. Right from Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Tere Naam, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya to Wanted we have had a great association with bhai. All these films have had blockbuster music It's always been a friendly and family kind of a feeling whenever we are doing a film with him. So it feels nice to re-unite once again with him for Ready.
Where else are you planning to shoot the film?
We are tentatively planning the next schedule in Thailand.
And when are you planning to release the film?
We are looking to release it in Summer of 2011.
What are the other films coming from your banner this year?
Next up we have Kajraare releasing in August starring Himesh and Mona Laizza. The music of the film is already doing very well. Our next big release is Patiala House with Akshay and Anushka Sharma which is coming on Nov 19. We have pretty much finished with the shooting and are currently into post production.
Patiala House is clashing with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Guzaarish and Harry Potter And The Deathly Hollows. Are you wary of such a clash?
Not really... Barring 2 - 3 exceptional cases, English films never really disturb the business of Hindi films to that level. As of now we are sticking to Nov 19.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 26 Jun 2010 | 6:58 am Castle star to work with Ashok AmitrajStana Katic, who plays sexy NYPD cop Kate Beckett on the hit TV series Castle, is having a fantastic year. Even when you go to Haakim Aalim's hair and tattoo lounge, you just cannot escape the grandeur of this 'come back man' when your eyes pan right and your attention is grabbed by this six foot tall majestic figure called Sanjay Dutt. Baba, as he is fondly called by all in our film industry, has returned to his best form - rough and tough. And then you think of films like Aatish, Vaastav, Kaante, Musafir, Mission Kashmir, etc. And then you question - Will Lamhaa do what Vaastav did for him? At the moment, the people on the streets say that Sanjay Dutt is the Mickey Rourke of India. He has made a comeback of sorts but is still waiting for his one big punch just like Rourke did with his film Wrestler. UK's Harrow Observer columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent Devansh Patel talks to the man who has inspired many to build a physique, the man who has inspired many to quit drugs, the man who has inspired many to never give up and a man who has inspired many to be - just Sanjay Dutt.
Kashmir
"Lamhaa took me back to my Kashmir days. I remember every single day I've spent with my father and mother in the once upon a time beautiful paradise. I went back during my Mission Kashmir days and was shocked to see that the Kashmir I had seen with my parents has now changed. It's sad to see Kashmir the way it is today."
People of Kashmir
"I interacted with the people of Kashmir, and that's the only thing that hasn't changed in that state. People desperately want normalcy there. They are very loving and affectionate and I thank the people of Kashmir to have given us the support we wanted for our film."
Vaastav days
"Vaastav changed the way people looked at me as an actor, followed by Mission Kashmir. And now it's Lamhaa. Every time I have done a grand film in terms of tough characters, it has somehow worked. Hope Lamhaa is the hat-trick I achieve."
Photographer
"I carried my Canon camera to Kashmir as I am an avid photographer. I clicked Kashmir like a professional photographer. It was like an artist painting his picture. At the moment, some of my best work is with Bunty Walia. He refuses to give it back to me (laughs)."
Kunal Kapoor and Bipasha Basu
"Kunal Kapoor is a wonderful actor and a superb human being. He showed his acting skills in Rang De Basanti and you will see the same in Lamhaa if not better. I've worked with Bipasha earlier and she is mind blowing in this film. It's her career best role I think. It will be an award winning performance. You forget the sexy Bipasha and fall in love with the beautiful Bipasha. That's what Lamhaa has done to her."
Lamhaa
"Lamhaa isn't a story of militants and politicians. It's a story about the people of Kashmir and how they save their motherly state. It's emotional than Mission Kashmir was and way too different than what you predict it to be."
Autobiography
"At the moment, I want to write my autobiography. That's what people have advised me. It's high time I should start taking that seriously and pen down a few things soon. You will see my autobiography coming out soon. That turns me into a writer too (laughs)."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 26 Jun 2010 | 5:38 am 'Voyeurism has led to rise of reality TV shows'There's a flood of reality shows on television thanks to increasing voyeurism, but the excitement will wear off once the power of imagination steers the video content of the future with more dramas based on real-life scenarios, says former MTV host-turned-writer Omkar Sane, whose new book is on the 'idiot box'.Source: Entertainment News | 26 Jun 2010 | 5:23 am Abhishek and Aishwarya feature in July issue of Vogue

Around this time last year, the whole world had come to an instant standstill. The moon had stopped glowing, the sun stopped shining, the stars stopped twinkling, the birds stopped chirping, and the winds stopped swaging, so on and so forth⦠The reason? Well, the King of Music, Michael Jackson had passed away from this world.
Yesterday was his first death anniversary. And to mark this occasion, Bollywood's very own 'Bling King' Bappi Lahiri released two singles composed in the honour of the late great Michael Jackson. He released the two tracks, viz., 'Don't Say Goodbye' and 'Michael O' Michael', which is incidentally a remix. In a very noble gesture, Bappi has pledged to donate royalty earned from the tracks to the underprivileged children in Maharashtra.

The fact that Maharashtra's Home Minister R. R. Patil doesn't watch too many films is not so interesting as the fact that he viewed Ananth Mahadevan's Red Alert - The War Within on Monday evening, a film about the genesis and consolidation of the Naxalite movement in the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh.
The film literally abuses the Establishment and lays the blame squarely on the government for fostering inequalities and injustice for the unprivileged classes thereby leading to the Maoist-Naxalite movement.
Says the director, "I was very apprehensive about Mr. Patil's response to what is clearly an anti-establishment film. The language used against the Establishment is almost abusive. It shows my protagonist Suniel Shetty unwittingly becoming part of the Naxal movement just to feed and look after his family."
Apparently, the Home Minister was completely swayed by the film and has recommended the film to P. Chidambaram and other important ministers. Significantly, unlike the other recently-released Naxalite film Raavan, Red Alert doesn't flinch from calling a spade a spade.
Says the director Mahadevan, "With due respects to Mani Ratnam Sir whom I admire to death, Raavan seemed to be set in an indeterminate region and time zone. Was Beera really a Naxalite? Not once was he mentioned to be a Naxal. His politics seemed more personal than political. His vendetta was for wrongs done to him rather than against a socio-political system that fosters inequality and injustice."
Mahadevan is unfazed by the lack of face value in the project. "Distributors were wary because the film stars Suniel Shetty. In fact, Suniel had himself questioned me when I had narrated the script to him. "Why are you offering me this film? I don't sell solo." But I was sure Suniel was right for Red Alert. From the way he has worked on his look and body language to his expressions, Suniel becomes the character of the reluctant Naxalite."bollywoodhungama | Revealed: First look of 'Lafangey Parindey' Indiatimes Yash Raj films revealed the first look of Neil Nitin Mukesh and Deepika Padukone starrer 'Lafangey Parindey'. The team of Mohit Suri and Emraan Hashmi has given us some memorable films in the past like Zeher, Kalyug, Awarapan, and Raaz-The Mystery Continues. Now the duo are all set to once again entertain us with Vishesh Films' Crook: Its Good To Be Bad.
The film is based on the topical issue of racial discrimination being meted out against Indians in Australia. Besides Emraan, the film also stars newcomer Neha Sharma and veteran actor Gulshan Grover.
Mahesh Bhatt who is very actively involved with the film recently posted a picture of the stars shooting for the film on popular social networking site Twitter. Bhatt saab tweets, "From the sets of Crook: Emran, Gulshan and dir Mohit Suri stage a key scene as the rain gods play havoc."

Neil plays 'One Shot Nandu' and as can be seen from the pic, he is wild and born to fight. The actor seems to have really beefed up his physique for this particular character and probably features his as a fighter. As for Deepika, she plays 'Pinky Palkar' who is blind yet born to fly. She looks super-fit posing with a pair of roller-skates.
Both the actors have extremely challenging roles to play in this love story set in the gritty streets of Mumbai. One will have to wait and watch if this jodi is able to strike gold at the Box Office this August.
There's much secret consternation and annoyance among prominent filmmakers in Bollywood over the selection of Prakash Jha's two films Raajneeti and Gangaajal as the opening and closing films of the brand new Indian Film Festival in Ireland.
Other filmmakers whose works have been selected include Jahnu Barua (Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara), Nagesh Kukunoor (Dor), Navdeep Singh (Manorana Six Under), J P Dutta (Umrao Jaan), Paresh Mokashi (Harishchandrachi Factory), Nikhil Advani (Kal Ho Na Ho), Balki (Paa), Vishal Bhardwaj (The Blue Umbrella).
Most of the above have confirmed that they would not be attending the Bollywood festival in Dublin.
And one of them on condition of anonymity expressed surprise and dismay at the prominence given to Jha's cinema. "I agree he has made hard-hitting political films. But you can't call Gangaajal or Raajneeti representative of Indian cinema. Their politics makes them very culture-specific works."
However, Prakash Jha basking in the super-success of his film dismisses such talk as self-defeating. "It's this crab mentality that keeps Indian cinema from making a global impact. Some people almost seem to be mourning because Raajneeti has done so well!"
Prakash Jha's Raajneeti has given him the kind of commercial clout he had never dreamt of. Right after the Raajneeti celebration on June 23, he now heads for two very distinguished European retrospectives of his films in Ireland and London.
The first Indian Film Festival in Dublin which starts on June 25 has Jha specially kicked. "It's the first time that such a festival is being held in Ireland. They're screening Raajneeti as the Festival's opening film and my Gangaajal as the closing film."
Films that are bracketed between Jha's Raajneeti and Gangaajal at the Indian Film in Dublin include the two versions of Devdas by Bimal Roy and Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the two versions of Umrao Jaan by Muzaffar Ali and J.P Dutta.
Unfazed by the muted protests about the priority given to his cinema in Ireland, Prakash heads for Dublin and straight after will go to London for a 5-film retrospective at the Nehru Centre from June 30.
Glowing with his new status as a commercially viable director Paraksh Jha says, "The Nehru Centre was to screen only 3 of my films Mrityudand, Apaharan, Gangaajal. But after Raajneeti they insisted we include it in the retro."
We wonder why.

Saif avoided cameras and paparazzi pictures until his departure to Morocco this week to avoid giving away his Agent Vinod look. But man proposes, Aamir disposes. Aamir insisted that Saif make it to the party at his home last weekend, thereby blowing the whistle on Saif's carefully-concealed look.
On the eve of his departure to Morocco for the shooting of his second home production Agent Vinod, Saif Ali Khan completely revamped his look and went into hiding until he left the country.
According to close friends, Saif was apprehensive about the exposure of his special makeover in as Agent Vinod. He has lost oodles of weight changed his hairstyle and redesigned his entire body language to play a lean spy.
A friend of Saif says, "If Shahid Kapoor in his dad's film Mausam has modelled his look on Tom Cruise in Top Gun, Saif's role model for Agent Vinod is Matt Damon in Bourne Identity."
A special hair styling done by Aalim Hakim clipping off the long tresses that Saif was lately seen sporting had been planned for six months. Saif wanted to delay the haircut until the final moment before his departure from Morocco.
Besides that, Saif has been working out frantically and toning his muscles to look sinewy agile and panther- like.
While Saif remained inaccessible for any questions on his makeover for Agent Vinod (he probably thinks even talking about it would invite copycats) his ladylove Kareena Kapoor willingly and proudly spills the beans. "Saif has never looked cooler. He has lost 9 kilos in three months. He has all toned and rippling muscles. He was with long hair for so long that I had forgotten how dashing he looks in cropped hair. Saif has got his hair cropped really short, that's all I can tell you about his Agent Vinod look. He got it done a couple of days back. Since then he was reluctant to step out of his house. "
So frightened was Saif of revealing his new look that he refused to show it even to his own parents. Only Kareena had the privilege of seeing Saif's makeover avatar. Until Aamir's party.
"And that too only because I'll see how he looks anyway because I'm his co-star," laughs Kareena, adding that her look in Agent Vinod would also be unique.
"Akki Narula is doing my look for Agent Vinod. I don't think I've ever looked the way I would in Agent Vinod. As for Saif, he looks like a Hollywood star for the film. I can't take my eyes off him."| World : News Archives | Business | Entertainment | Sports | Technology | Science | Marketplace Audio |
