But Paul does see where Barton's coming from: "I don't want to pile on [Barton]. I know what that feels like. What I will say is I have never liked the tone of the president when he said things or his administration says things like he is going to put the boot on the throat of BP... If we put BP out of business, they can't pay for the cleanup."

Political instability and regional violence have never been enough to stop nightlife in its tracks, and now enterprising club kids and restaurateurs are making a go of it in Iraq's capital: "A slew of new restaurants have opened in [Baghdad] this year," the Times reports. "All boast of having thick shatterproof glass." Antoine al-Hage, in particular, a sort of Middle Eastern Paul Sevigny, opened the Beatrice of Baghdad last month, a Lebanese restaurant-lounge, the Lebanese Club:
Hage thinks there's money to be made in Iraqi nightlife now: "Simply put, for a decade, he has trailed America’s imperial pursuits. 'Wherever the Americans are, we are,' he said." The club cost $2.5 million to build, but investors expect to make that money back within the year. Certain safety exceptions are not even made for high-profile guests:

Williams has already argued that the mosque could be used for "the worship of the terrorists’ monkey-god." He has since sort of apologized for that remark, but he will now be devoting himself fully to opposing this cause. Well almost fully: He'll also be "leading a recall effort against some members of the Sacramento City Council and running for a spot on the local body himself after the council voted to boycott Arizona over its new immigration law." Williams told CNN he's "thinking globally and acting locally." Sounds like he's got his plate full of opposition! 'It can get a little boring,' he said softly over coffee at the Four Seasons hotel, referring both to playing an unchanging vampire and to chewing over the Cultural Importance of It All. 'The good news is that the whole thing is done in seven months.'"
He's off by about a year, but Pattinson continues: "I’ve learned to let it go a bit, but I’m still really bothered by it ... The more you are exposed, the more people irrationally hate you." The Times then wonders: will Pattinson's super-stardom lead him the way of Leonardo DiCaprio... or Christopher Atkins? (Remember him? No? Exactly.) In any case, with Eclipse out June 30th, Pattinson had better get used to talking about vampires. L'Osservatore editor Gian Maria Vian, who doubles as its film critic, apparently, cited the film's plot, in which two brothers battle "cops, neo-Nazis and crazed country fans in a bid to save the Catholic orphanage where they were raised," as his explanation. The Vatican's official reading of the film is that, "For [the Blues brothers] this Catholic institution is their only family. And they decide to save it at any cost." Aykroyd told the New York Post: "As a former altar boy from age 6 ... but a somewhat lapsed Catholic, I was delighted with the endorsement." The film, which depicts dolphins being harpooned to death in a private lagoon in Taiji as a result of the aquarium trade and local meat market, also warns of dangerously high levels of mercury poisoning in fish. According to the Times:
Of course, there's always the Internet: "The service company Niwango plans a free streaming of the film on Friday, though for only 2,000 viewers." But the film's distributor is pushing for a theater run:
Now there's fear that the film will never be officially screened in Japan, but the lengths to which some are going to make that happen should certainly pique more interest in it. Last week, Deborah Ann Woll, who plays True Blood's fiery new vamp Jessica, admitted that Jim Parrack, who plays Hoyt Fortenberry, is her favorite man on the show, and now People has posed the same who's-the-hottest question to Carrie Preston, better known as True Blood's lovable waitress Arlene. "They are all gorgeous," she says diplomatically, but People pressed forward. "We all kind of marvel at Ryan's body," Preston admits, referring to Ryan Kwanten, who plays Anna Paquin's character's (generally) loyal, lovable brother Jason Stackhouse. "Because nobody is quite sure how he gets that body." How very interesting: In our recent interview with him, Kwanten left his abs a mystery, too: "Let’s stick to the acting ... I was hoping to change the subject enough to get away from that," he told us. Now we learn that even his co-stars don't know how he got those abs! Though there are some clues:
A bit of Googling turns up a June 2009 Muscle & Body cover story in which the actor admits to late-night runs on the beach: "Even when I’m working, I’ll go home and run on the soft sand at two in the morning," he said. He also cops to being a yoga fiend and a regular hiker. So there's that. In other True Blood news, perhaps one more man will be added to the mix, because Ben Linus is married to waitress Arlene!

This time Gaga donned nothing but her black bra and panties covered by a Yankees jersey, and she danced kind of awkwardly/awesomely (see photo) in a suite above the third-base side. Maybe the Mets one-upped her by beating Gaga's team 4–0 right in front of her, proving that her ritualistic dancing couldn't secure a Yankees win, but who knows what comforting words Gaga had to offer A-Rod after the game, when they reportedly met briefly!
