Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 17 Jun 2010 | 8:03 am Abhishek- Aishwarya make it for Kirron Kher's birthday party at 2 am
It was an exhilarating Wednesday- night for Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Their new film together was premiered at the British Film Institute. The first Indian film to get the honour. The Bachchan and the Rai parents were present watching the film for the first time.
Said Aishwarya after the screening, "Just seeing their faces after the show, Abhishek and I knew we could sleep in peace tonight."
From Monday morning till Tuesday, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan went sleepless for more than 24 hours. Late on Monday night-Tuesday morning she attended family-friend Kirron Kher's birthday party, and then headed for the airport to catch her flight to London for the premiere of Raavan.
When Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan walked in hand-in-hand at 2 in the morning to wish Kirron Kher a happy birthday on Monday night, everyone presumed they were sauntering in refreshed and rejuvenated. Fact is, they headed straight for the Khers from a series of media events in Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai because there was no way they'd miss Kirron's birthday.
While Anupam Kher prefers to keep his distance, Kirron who turned 55 on Monday is very close to the entire Bachchan parivar. Her son Sikandar is known to hang out with Abhishek who calls the youngster his younger brother.
Given a choice Kirron wouldn't want any of the Bachchans to miss her birthday. This year the senior Bachchans are in Europe while Abhishek and Aishwarya are busy promoting Raavan and had made it clear that showing up for her birthday party was a near-impossiblity.
Says a source close to the couple, "Way past midnight the events and engagements for Raavan were still not over. But the couple decided that not dropping in for their Kirron Aunty's birthday especially when the senior Bachchans are away, would have been improper and hurtful." After the party the couple went to meet the Raavan crew which was at a special screening of the film.
Says a family friend, "Aishwarya is very careful about family duties. More so when Abhishek's parents are out of town. She knew she and her husband were representing the Bachchans at Kirron's party. She couldn't miss it, although she was without food, rest or even a dress-change the whole day."
Known to stretch the schedules beyond human endurance, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan set a new record for herself over the past weekend in time management when she flew into Delhi on Sunday afternoon to join Abhishek media events, flew out of Delhi at 5 am solo on Monday morning to Hyderabad to join Vikram for media events for the Telugu version of Raavan, and flew back in the evening for more media interactions and Kirron Kher's birthday.
Just before she left for London, Aishwarya said, "It's been a really really hectic time for both me and Abhishek. We've been running around trying to develop a new technology for time management. Sadly we don't get time to spend together. That's why this trip to London is precious. Because the entire family will be together for our film. That's what I call bliss."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 17 Jun 2010 | 7:53 am London crowds throng as SRK joins Bachchans for 'Raavan' premiereBollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan joined the Bachchan family here for the world premiere of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai starrer "Raavan", pulling in huge crowds that wanted to see Big B and King Khan together.Source: Entertainment News | 17 Jun 2010 | 7:28 am I don't know how to make a film, says Raavan director

Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 17 Jun 2010 | 6:20 am Reliance BIG & Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment to produce The ImperfectionistsBrad Pitt's production company Plan B Entertainment, under its Creative Partnership with Reliance BIG Entertainment, have acquired the screen rights to Tom Rachman's novel, The Imperfectionists, which was published this spring by Dial Press. The Imperfectionists centres on the quirky, maddening, endearing people who write and read an international newspaper based in Rome: from the obituary reporter who will do anything to avoid work, to the young freelancer who is manipulated by an egocentric war correspondent, to the dog-obsessed publisher who seems less interested in his struggling newspaper than in his magnificent basset hound. Rachman drew from his experience as a former wire service reporter at the Associated Press (AP) office in Rome to set the stage for The Imperfectionists. Reliance BIG Entertainment, the flagship media and entertainment arm of Indian conglomerate, Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (R-ADAG), first introduced its innovative development/ production financing deal, termed a Creative Partnership, with Plan B Entertainment at the Cannes Film Festival 2008. Commenting on the acquisition, Reliance BIG Entertainment's Chairman Amit Khanna said, "The Imperfectionists is a compliment to our slate with Plan B Entertainment. It will make a commercial and extremely relevant film which will play well to an international audience." This is one of several projects acquired by Plan B under their creative partnership with Reliance. Last year the company announced Dark Void, which is based on Capcom's acclaimed video game and being developed as a sci-fi action franchise and potential starring vehicle for Pitt.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 17 Jun 2010 | 6:05 am Koena's sultry self on cover of The Man

A poem of couplets written by a fan in celebration of Katrina Kaif's beauty and virtues that has surfaced on numerous websites and blogs, has inspired an entire song devoted to Katrina in Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
Says a source close to the project, "Katrina plays a free- spirited girl, a wanderer at heart and a bohemian gypsy by nature whom the three male leads Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol are quite seriously fascinated by. She inspires the boys into chasing their dreams and not being afraid of reaching into the darkness to find light."
And that's precisely the character that the film's director Zoya Akhtar's father, the sensitive poet Javed Akhtar, will have to describe in his lyrics for a song devoted to Katrina's character.
Says the source, "There was only a vague idea for such a song in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. But when the poem by Katrina's fan surfaced on the net, everyone felt the lyrics describing Katrina's character beauty and zest for life was needed."
Katrina neck-deep in shooting with Hrithik, Farhan and Abhay in Spain is flattered by all the attention she's getting online and in person. "I can't think of anything but how to get into character. This role requires a lot of physical preparation. I had almost no time to prepare for Zoya's film. I delayed my departure from Mumbai till the very last minute because I wanted to enjoy the attention that Raajneeti was getting. I get attached to a film and need a transitional period between one project and another. I didn't get that space before coming to Spain."
The pleasure comes with a price. Katrina's preparation for her zany character in Zoya's film is half-complete. She needs to master many outdoor sports. Most of them are new to her. But she is learning on the job in Spain. "I landed here in the night and started shooting next morning completely unprepared. But now I'm getting a hang of it."
About the ode by her fan, she says, "It's flattering to have people write such wonderful lines for you. I can't pretend to be unaffected by all the attention I'm getting. At the same time I can't let it go to my head. There's so much more to be done."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 17 Jun 2010 | 3:34 am Koena Mitra exposes for The ManShe is the dusky, doe eyed, Bong babe who set Bollywood on fire with her sex appeal and oomph like she owned it. Kunal Kohli has forbidden Imran Khan and Deepika Padukone, the stars of his under-production film Break Ke Baad, currently shooting in Mauritius, from going on any social networking site on the internet to talk about their film.
This is the second producer to have blocked his stars from tweeting about a film. Earlier Sajid Nadiadwala had to restrain Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra from social networking about their film Anjaana Anjaani.
But Kunal Kohli says his case is different from Anjaana Anjaani.
Explains Kohli, "I've only asked Deepika and Imran to desist from tweeting for three weeks until Imran's new film I Hate LUV Storys is released. I don't want any overlapping in the public's subconscious about the two films. Once Imran's other film is out, he and Deepika are free to tweet to their heart's content."
Until then Kohli isn't letting his two incorrigible twitters put any visuals or words on the internet. This has apparently not been taken well by Imran and Deepika. Imran was heard grumbling loudly about the curtailment of freedom of expression.
Says Kunal determinedly, "I really don't approve of stars giving out information on micro-blogging sites, but I don't think we should stop them. What I can do is to decide when is the right time to tweet."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 16 Jun 2010 | 6:58 am Vidya's seductive looks on cover of 'andpersand' magazine

Murugadoss has taken his next script for a Hindi film to Akshay Kumar and is all set to direct his second Hindi film two years after the all-time highest grosser Ghajini.
Akshay's close friend and business associate Vipul Shah who's currently producing the Hindi version of the Telugu hit Kaakha Kaakha with John Abraham will produce Murugadoss's second Hindi film.
No stone is being left unturned to make sure the Akshay-Murugadoss team comes up with a whammy as big as Ghajini. Though tight-lipped about the project, Vipul Shah is all set to spend whopping Rs 20-25 crores on the action sequences alone.
Akshay's brief to the director. "I've a reputation for delivering stunts. Make sure the action rocks."
Unlike Ghajini, Murugadoss' second film is not a remake of one of his Tamil-Telugu hits. Speaking from Chennai the shy diminutive director says, "Yes, my screenplay for the film with Akshay Kumar is an original, not a remake of one of my Tamil films. Like Ghajini, it is basically a love story with a strong action base."
The film starts shooting in January 2011.
On meeting Akshay over the project Murugadoss was told to make the violence "more fun than gory." The reference to Ghajini's stomach-churning brutalization of Asin's character was not lost on the director who is at the moment busy brushing up his Hindi.
During Ghajini, Murugadoss couldn't speak or understand a word of Hindi. "But I'm changing that. By the time Akshay and I start working together, I'd be much better able to understand Hindi."
Though Murugadoss is not yet willing to divulge the name of the female lead in his Akshay starrer, Ghajini gal Asin whom producer Vipul Shah is very fond of and came close to signing for the Hindi remake of Kaakha Kaakha, is apparently the chosen one.
Two years ago, Asin had opted out of making her debut with Akshay Kumar in Priyadarshan's De Dana Dan because she had found the role insubstantial.
Not one to hold grudges, Akshay constantly on the prowl for fresh co-stars, has given the nod to Asin.
Says Murugadoss, "We haven't really decided on Akshay's co-star. But yes, Asin is a strong contender."
Incidentally, Murugadoss' project with Shah Rukh Khan is still on. "We've met and he has liked my idea. We've to work out details."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 16 Jun 2010 | 3:40 am Shakira to sing for Bollywood film featuring Candice Boucher
After Akon for Shah Rukh Khan's Ra.One it is now the Latin American sensation Shakira's turn to rock in a Bollywood song.
The number, a frenzied dance track to be filmed on South African model Candice Boucher for the film featuring entrepreneur Sachin Joshi, will be recorded in the next couple of months.
Shakira is no stranger to India. She has performed live in Mumbai and other cities in 2007 and has repeatedly expressed a desire to be part of the Bollywood film industry.
Says a source, "Sachin Joshi who's helming and starring in the project is in touch with Shakira and she has agreed to sing for Salim-Sulaiman. The lyrics would be in English but with a smattering of easy Hindi. It won't be a duet like the song Kylie Minogue sang on Anthony D'Souza's Blue. It'd be a Shakira solo dhamaka."
Composer Salim of Salim-Sulaiman confirms the happening. "It would be a very sensuous cabaret kind of song."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 16 Jun 2010 | 3:13 am
