Last Night on Late Night: Judd Apatow Got Cock Blocked by the White House

On last night's Tonight Show, Judd Apatow and Jay Leno traded stories about their experiences at the last month's White House Correspondents Dinner with Apatow sharing a gem about how his subtle offer to help write jokes for Obama were politely denied by the White House. Over at The Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert got excited about Michael Jordan's fascist facial hair and Karate Kid Jaden Smith brought his aplomb personality to The Late Show where he helped Dave Letterman brush up on his math skills. Wrapping things up on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, John C. Reilly recalled the time Jennifer Aniston introduced him to something called the chastity pillow during an especially embarrassing sex scene. Watch our compilation to see what you missed.

Industry Roundup: Jennifer Garner and Nick Nolte To Join Arthur Remake

They're With The Brand: Jennifer Garner and Nick Nolte are in talks to join the cast of Arthur, the Warner Bros. remake of the 1981 comedy. Russell Brand and Helen Mirren are already on board the Jason Winer film, about a happy-go-lucky drunk (Brand) who is told by his mother (Mirren) that he must marry a wealthy heiress (Garner) instead of the poor girl he loves (Greta Gerwig). Nolte will play Garner’s “deeply religious” father, who most certainly will not be pleased when Brand ditches both girls for a pop star who sings about kissing girls! [HR]

What A Rush: As expected, Geoffrey Rush will be returning for a fourth time to play Captain Hector Barbossa in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Phew, we were briefly worried the delay here might have been related to Rush not passing the implants test. [Variety]

Ring The Bells: Brooklyn duo Sleigh Bells will ride their mounting buzz into their first headlining North American tour. The U.S. portion of the trek, which begins in Baltimore on July 1, will feature openers Nerve City and Popo. The Bells will then head to Europe for a few Scandinavian festivals in August. Getting tickets now will ensure Treats later. [Pitchfork]

Double Trouble: Stana Katic (Castle) and Odette Yustman (Cloverfield) have joined the cast of The Double, a spy thriller about a retired CIA operative (Richard Gere) who teams up with a young FBI agent (Topher Grace) to hunt down the killer of a senator. Katic will play a “feisty” Russian prostitute who is guarding important information, while Yustman will play Grace’s wife, a “strong” woman who raises a family while “coping with her husband’s Bureau career.” Whoa, what unique and original female roles! [Heat Vision/HR]

From Fake Trailer To Real Movie
: Legendary has picked up a pitch by Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) to write a live-action remake of Technotise, a Serbian animated film. The original movie, set in Belgrade in the year 2074, is focused on a failing art student who decides to get a chip implant to avoid studying but gets “more than she bargained for.” The studio, in an unusual move, had a fake trailer for the film made last year - which combined Milla Jovovich clips with those from an array of other movies - that went viral and generated interested in the live-action remake. Let's hope this doesn't give that "David After Dentist" dad any ideas. [Heat Vision/HR]

The Right Bluff: NBC has picked up the pilot for a game show hosted by D.L. Hughley called Who’s Bluffing Who? The show will feature contestants attempting to "bluff their way" into winning $500,000, as “seven contestants will use their knowledge and deceptive talents -- and even steal one another's money -- in order to advance in the game as they are gradually reduced to a single winner.” We would try to make a joke here if we understood that description to any degree. [HR]

Conan and Jack White Jam Together, Plan To Release Vinyl Record

The twosome in 2005.

After tweeting that he and Jack White would be "doing something cool" Thursday night, Conan O’Brien took the stage with the White Stripes singer in Nashville tonight at White’s Third Man Records. The show began with Conan and his touring band playing a number of covers, including “On The Road Again” (he changed the lyrics to "my old show again / I just can't wait to get my old show again”) and the Stripes' “Seven Nation Army,” before White joined them on stage for covers of Eddie Cochran’s “Twenty Flight Rock” and Ronnie Hawkins' “Forty Days.” And for those not content with the grainy YouTube videos that are sure to pop up over the next few days, the AP says that O’Brien plans to release a vinyl album of the show.

Keith Olbermann Struggles To Get Answers From Alvin Greene

The enigma that is Alvin Greene appeared on Keith Olbermann's Countdown Thursday night in what can only be described as an excessively uncomfortable interview, one which shed little light on the baffling nature of his primary win. Olbermann asked the expected questions, all of which were met with long pauses and sentence-long (at most) answers from Greene, whom Olbermann later said may have been looking to an off-camera lawyer feeding him answers. Greene refused to comment on the felony charges he faces (though he admitted with a simple “yes” that he imagines he will have to talk about them at some point during the campaign) and also rejected rumors he is a Republican plant (“I've always been a Democrat and I still will be a Democrat in the future and support Democrats").

Angelina Jolie Reportedly Involved With Cleopatra Biopic

Producer Scott Rudin has bought the rights to Stacy Schiff’s upcoming biography Cleopatra: A Life, and Rudin’s office confirmed to USA Today that the project “is being developed for and with [Angelina] Jolie.” At a promotional lunch in Manhattan this week, Schiff said that despite the public's conception of Cleopatra as a stunner, “we have little idea of what she actually looked like.” Though when asked as a follow-up if Jolie would be a good fit for the part, Schiff played right into the popular Cleopatra mythos: “Physically, she’s the perfect look.” [USA Today]

Ground Zero Workers Get A Bigger Settlement

A new settlement will give Ground Zero rescue and cleanup workers who experienced health problems an estimated $712 million, up from the $657 million deal which was rejected by federal judge Alvin Hellerstein three months ago. Lawyers for the approximately 10,000 firefighters, police officers and other workers and volunteers agreed to reduce their fees to one-quarter of the total payout rather than the one-third that had been outlined, per the judge’s request. After having claimed the previous amount was too small, this new agreement was enthusiastically received by Hellerstein, as he assessed, "It’s not perfect, but it’s very, very good."

Katherine Heigl Asks Herself 'What Would Sandra Bullock Do?'

While it’s been easy to deride Katherine Heigl for her critical-verging-on-ungrateful comments on… well, pretty much everything, it’s somewhat comforting to know that the actress at least has good taste in role models. Heigl, at something of a pivotal moment in her career, told the Orange County Register that when it comes to her actions, in Sandy she trusts.

"Whenever I'm about to do or say something," Heigl said, "I first think W.W.S.B.D., which stands for What Would Sandra Bullock Do? I don't know her personally, but from what I've seen of her and what I've read about her, she seems to be one of the most well-spoken, gracious, charming and funny women in Hollywood. If I could get there, I would like to be just like her."

While the intent may be there, Katie, we fear you may have a ways to go: Sandra Bullock would never appear in a trailer with poo on her face.

Oil Leak Even Worse Than Initially Estimated

According to a new government assessment, twice as much oil gushed from the damaged BP oil well before the most recent containment effort than had been originally estimated. This new measurement, based on the leakage before BP cut the riser pipe of the leaking well on June 3, revealed that about 25,000 to 30,000 barrels of oil have been entering the Gulf each day (significantly greater than the 12,000 to 19,000 barrels previously announced). The revised calculation means that the amount of oil equivalent to that in the Exxon Valdez disaster may have been flowing into the Gulf of Mexico every 8 to 10 days.

Rachel Zoe Does Not Have Time to Watch Kell on Earth

Rachel Zoe threw a preview party for her newest QVC collection last night at the Gramercy Park Hotel. “The line is all about everything that I’ve cultivated in my mind and wanted to share,” she said. "My mantra is accessible style and glamour."

Huh. We were pretty sure that it was either "Bananas!" or "I lit-er-ally die." But, no: “100 percent accessible style and glamour.” All of the pieces in Zoe’s QVC line — which includes sequin vests, faux chinchilla, and multi-chain necklaces — retail for less than $200. Zoe, ever the self-marketer, also handed out oversize, RZ-stamped sunglasses and black sequined RZ purses in the gift bags — a move we thought would've made fellow Bravo reality star Kelly Cutrone very happy.

As it turns out, Zoe has never even seen Cutrone's show. “No, [I didn’t watch Kell on Earth],” she said with a shrug. “I don’t have a lot of time for TV.”

Click through the slideshow to see product porn from Zoe's new line.

More Material From M.I.A. That Has No Connection to Truffle Fries

Forget fake M.I.A. songs — here's a real one (maybe)! This afternoon, roughly an hour before Diplo tweeted, "Just listened to mastr of the MIA album ... WOW ... my 3 trax are slammin! dunno bout the rest-sounds like skinny puppy :( & gives me nightmares :(," BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe debuted "Stepping Up," an M.I.A. banger that is indeed pretty scary. It's only two-and-a-half-minutes long, but crammed with all manner of odd bleeps, Auto-Tuned bits, and what sounds like chopped-up versions of Hot 97 D.J. drops. "Sound of a bomb blast, throw it in a bag," M.I.A. chants on the chorus, and then fuzzy booms do their best to correspond. As Flavorwire, who spotted the debut, points out, "Stepping Up" isn't on the officially released track list so, okay, yes, this may not actually be from /\/\/\Y/\ (or it could be a bonus track? or the track list is being changed up? or Lowe released it with the wrong title? ). One thing that's clear is that "Stepping Up" is not a rush-recorded song from after the /\/\/\Y/\ sessions — at no point, as far as we can tell, is Lynn Hirschberg being insulted.

What Sounds Worse Than Cutting Your Own Arm Off to Free Yourself From a Broken Furnace?

Not quite pulling it off. Thirty-one-year-old Jonathan Metz was trapped for two days in his own basement, left arm stuck in his broken furnace, when he decided to chop off his own arm. He fashioned a tourniquet and began sawing. A day later, when police arrived and found him, he hadn't quite made it through. There is a silver lining, though: He sawed enough off to prevent catching gangrene from his rotting forearm, which probably saved his life. [HuffPo]

American Apparel’s Battle Against Fuglies Wages On ...

We learned yesterday about the “head-to-toe” screening process for job candidates at American Apparel, and now several other employees have come forward with less-than-flattering stories about the company’s discriminatory policies against unattractive — er, “off-brand” — people.

Today, Gawker got its mitts on additional memos from American Apparel’s intranet that provided explicit instructions on photographing potential new employees. In addition to a full-body shot, recruiters were told to “include a close-up of face,” and extra precautions were to be taken if the photos were snapped outdoors, since it’s hard to tell how hot — er, “on-brand” — people are when they're layered up with coats and jackets.

Outdoor scouting: In cases where the candidate is wearing a hat that is covering all their hair, please ask subjects to remove their hat, so we have a better feeling for their presentation. We need to clearly see everyone’s hair, color, length, and style. It plays a big role in how they look.

The company has been picky these days because it's trying to head in a more “sophisticated, expensive, classy direction” — a shift in image that the store publicized as the “New Standard.” Said standard is explained thusly: “Classy-Vintage-Chique-Late 80’s-Early 90’s-Ralph Lauren-Vogue-Nautical-High end brand [sic].” Apparently that may have been confusing to employees as well, because the memo then listed what not to wear, including Uggs, Vans, Moccasins, Converse sneakers, and Keds (unless they’re white and “impeccably clean”).

Most workplaces have dress codes, so that’s, like, whatever. What is unacceptable, however, is how it was supposedly enforced:

Not only did they police our clothes but our eyebrows, makeup, nails and hair color. They also openly mocked employees by posting photos of them online. Our store consultant also on several occasions told girls to lose weight or told them they were "too top heavy for crop tops.”

Undoubtedly, employees’ negative accounts will keep coming; the real question is, will this keep customers away? [Gawker]

The New Face of War Documentaries

The past few years have brought a cavalcade of documentaries about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. For better and for worse, most of these films have been political in nature, from the scattershot indignation of Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11 and Robert Greenwald’s Uncovered: The War on Iraq to the prosecutorial condemnation of Charles Ferguson’s No End in Sight and Alex Gibney’s Oscar-winning Taxi to the Dark Side. Occasionally, there would be a film that depicted the soldiers’ perspective on the war without delving into politics. (Petra Epperlein and Michael Tucker’s Gunner Palace, Deborah Scranton’s The War Tapes, and Ian Olds and Garrett Scott’s Occupation: Dreamland come to mind.) But most of the time, war documentaries focused as much on the filmmakers’ own opinions of the war as on the realities they were depicting. (That’s not necessarily meant to be a criticism, by the way: Films like Errol Morris’s Standard Operating Procedure and the aforementioned Taxi to the Dark Side are dark, angry, and indispensable films.)

Watching the two excellent war documentaries featured in the Human Rights Watch Film Festival this week, however, we couldn’t help but notice that the genre seems to be undergoing a real change. There are two films in the lineup about the Afghanistan War — Sebastian Junger and Tim Hetherington’s Restrepo, and Carol Dysinger’s Camp Victory, Afghanistan — and they both bypass editorializing about the war to instead give us a ground-level view of the conflict. The perspective, in other words, of those who have to do the fighting.

For the breathtaking Restrepo, Junger and Hetherington basically dug in alongside a platoon of U.S. soldiers in a remote fifteen-man outpost in Afghanistan’s treacherous Korengal Valley, where nearly one-fifth of all the combat in that country was taking place. We see a ton of actual fighting, we see the dead, we see interactions with the locals — sometimes hostile, sometimes friendly, always intense — but the film never leaves the soldiers’ point of view.

The heartbreaking Camp Victory is similarly non-judgmental in its vérité portrait of the attempts to build the Afghan Army. Dysinger shot nearly 300 hours of footage between 2005 to 2008, much of it focused on the Afghan Brigadier General Fazel Ahmad Sayar, an Afghan veteran who has been fighting since the age of 13, and the U.S. National Guard Officers enlisted with helping him turn ragtag groups of uncertain, impoverished men into a trained, standing army. Again, politics and meditations about the reasons for war are kept out of the picture. As Junger and Hetherington say in their directors’ statement: “Beliefs can be a way to avoid looking at reality.”

These aren’t the only two recent documentaries that exemplify this approach. Last year the IFC Center screened Kristian Fraga’s Severe Clear, a hypnotic film culled from footage shot by First Lieutenant Mike Scotti during his service before and during Operation Iraqi Freedom. And it’s not just happening in the U.S., either: Just last week, Danish audiences flocked to Armadillo, a documentary following a group of Danish soldiers stationed in a forward operating base in Helmand Province, Afganistan. In the case of Armadillo, however, a political firestorm did erupt, over the film’s suggestion that the soldiers may have killed wounded Afghans — but even then, it appears that the left and the right are interpreting the footage differently, suggesting that the film has succeeded in its impartial presentation of facts. Regardless of your politics, this new flock of documentaries is a lot more bracing than endless footage of retired generals and professional commentators talking about what a jerk Donald Rumsfeld is. After so much opinion and analysis, one yearns for some kind of reality.

That reality could, of course, be a fictional one, too. In a way, one could compare these films to The Hurt Locker, whose grunt’s-eye view of the Iraq War succeeded critically while other fiction films’ why-are-we-there navel-gazing couldn’t. There are probably many reasons for this. Both filmmakers and audiences may be coming to the realization that it’ll take some time before anyone makes full sense of these conflicts. (No End in Sight, for example, attempted to present “the inside story” of the Iraq War … in 2007. The movie’s over, but the war’s still going on.) And the end of the Bush Administration probably quelled some filmmakers’ tempers, at least momentarily. Plus, it’s obviously of some significance that many of these new films focus on the Afghan conflict, a war whose run-up was generally less politically charged than that of the Iraq War.

It remains to be seen if this trend continues, however. There’s still some seriously indignant and politically charged moviemaking to come: Amir Bar-Lev’s The Tillman Story premiered at Sundance earlier this year, with its devastating, infuriating depiction of the way Pat Tillman’s death was covered up and exploited by the military hierarchy and American politicians; it’s due to be released in August by the Weinstein Company. So if outrage is what you want, the well hasn't run dry yet.

Karl Lagerfeld Plays Bocce in Garance Doré’s Video

It's our lucky day! Garance Doré videotaped the chic events surrounding the Chanel cruise show in Saint-Tropez, which included a vigorous game of bocce between Karl Lagerfeld, Olivier Zahm, and a large crowd of models. We can’t tell whether Lagerfeld’s fingerless gloves helped or hindered his bocce skills, but we assume he wasn’t really competing, because we also see footage of him presenting the winner (a male model) with a trophy at the end of the game. Also in the video: lots of pseudo-candid footage of models prancing around Saint-Tropez sidewalks, models giggling on a boat during sunset, and models shopping in charming little boutiques. We also get to see some of the cruise collection itself, which was shown outdoors on a pier and involved models on a motorcycle. [Official site]

Florida Scofflaws: We Were Taken Advantage of by Elitist New York Paper

First the banks took advantage of the sweet and unsuspecting nature of Alex Pemberton and Susan Reboyras by allowing them to sign up for a mortgage they couldn't afford. Then, after they decided under the advice of a lawyer, to whom they paid $1,500, to stop paying said mortgage and live rent-free until the bank foreclosed on their home, the Times took advantage of them by writing about it.

It's not that the Times got any of the facts wrong, per se, it was just that once they saw it all spelled out in black-and-white like that, they kind of sounded like deadbeats. "If I didn't know it was me,'' Pemberton told the St. Petersburg Times, "I would have been the one digging out the pitchforks and torches and knocking on my door.'' Adding insult to injury was the sneering way the New York paper referenced their hobbies.

[T]he part that caused particular outrage among readers said foreclosure had allowed Pemberton and Reboyras to "go to Outback occasionally for steak. Take their gas-guzzling airboat out for the weekend. Visit the Hard Rock Casino.'' That part bothered Pemberton, too. He says he and Reboyras have been out on their old yellow airboat exactly twice in the past 21/2 years. Acquired from his father's airboat business on the Withlacoochee River, it's been for sale for years. And Pemberton says he mentioned Outback and Hard Rock — where he sometimes plays the penny slots — only when the reporter pressed him for examples of what they might do for entertainment.

Now Pemberton is kicking himself, of course. If only he had said "taking in free performances of Shakespeare in the park," or even better, "tweeting." That would never have made it into the Times.

How dare they quit paying their mortgage? Hey, that's us! [Tampa Bay]

Flyers Lose At Hockey, Win At Pun Signs

The Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Philadelphia Flyers last night in Overtime to claim the Stanley Cup. Despite the loss, however, Philadelphia can still take a lot of positives out of their playoff run, including, most notably, this fan’s amazing good-bad pun sign during the game last night:

“It takes a Ville to raise a Cup” – if you’re keeping score at home, that would be one “It takes a village to raise a child” axiom mixed with the name “Ville Leino“, a Finnish winger on the Flyers. It is unquestionably the greatest “takes a village to raise a child”-referencing hockey sign I have ever seen.

If I was gonna mix an age-old saying with a random players’ name, I might’ve gone with “You can fool all of the people some of the time, and you can fool some of the people all of the time, but you can never fool all of the people all of the TIMONEN.”

Easy for me to say, though – I’m just being a Thursday-morning signerback.

A Dog Is A Tiger But A Tiger Is Not A Dog

You know, that whole “a square is a rectangle but a rectangle is not a square” thing. Also, Side Angle Side.

Ugh. Let me just show you a photo, that might work better:

Yay, a Dog Tiger! I mean, yay, a Dog Tiger? I don’t know how I feel about this. The entire dying dogs different colors to best suit your personal color scheme I find borderline offensive, but then again who cares. However, is the dying process painful for the animal? This goes into different, crazier territory which this blog (read:me) doesn’t tackle. I’ll say that a Dog Tiger is pretty cool for me to look at. The dog, I don’t know how it feels. I assume it doesn’t care…because it’s a dog.  And, sorry folks, I’m gonna break this one real gentle-like to you, but dogs do not share our human emotions, nor do they spend hours looking in the mirror or taking self portraits on their computers for their social networking profiles. Even though my dad would yell at me when I laughed at the dog because he was convinced I was embarrassing him, I stand by this conviction. I’m sure that because my dog licked his balls in public, he got real embarrassed when I laughed at a stupid face he made. Dogs make the stupidest faces.

TO GET TO THE POINT. The Daily Mail reports that this is a trend in China: dying dogs to look like other animals. Because being a dog isn’t enough. It’s never enough, dogs. So you shall be shamed and dressed as a tiger. However, it is the year of the Tiger. And, embarrassing to dogs or no, it is a far more benign practice than the other stuff that’s going on with tigers in China.

But we don’t talk about those depressing things on this blog. We talk about Panda Puppies!!

 And more Panda Puppies!!!

And a Panda Dog. Less cute and alliterative. Shame on you, Panda Dog (Sad Waaah-waaaah music)

Clubby Swimwear Line Nycked Will Be the ‘Antithesis of Victoria’s Secret’

Nycked co-designers Lorenzo Martone and Jules Kim.

Earlier this week, we gave you a megahot glimpse into Nycked, the upcoming swimwear collaboration between Marc Jacobs's beau, Lorenzo Martone, and jewelry designer Jules Kim.

We've been fans of the Bijules designer's eclectic vision for a while, so we caught up with her on the eve of the duo's Saks meeting to discuss their foray into swimwear. The twenty-style line is divided into three categories, she says: Tux, which includes formalwear elements ("the 4 a.m. post-gala look"); Boudoir, inspired by lingerie and apartment furnishings ("curtain drapings, wallpaper designs"); and Design, which was influenced by New York architecture ("exposed brick, demolished buildings, and scaffolding"). Read on for Kim's take on the "Victoria's Secret conundrum," her friendship with Martone, and the pair's future plans for the Nycked brand.

How did you get involved with Lorenzo?
I launched a four-piece lingerie collection for fall/winter 2009, and Lorenzo was like, Holy shit, that’s really cute. From there, he wanted to create a swimwear line. He called me on a Saturday and said, "Hi, this is Lorenzo, I have a project to discuss." We met the following Sunday and he gave me this great little presentation. He's just a passionate person and a sweetheart to the core. We shared an instant camaraderie.

Were you at all apprehensive about collaborating?
I told him, "Just to let you know, Bijules will always be Bijules — that shit will never be left in the dust."

Why swimwear?
Well, Lorenzo's Brazilian, so he was raised in swimwear, like a little baby in a thong. But we also felt that swimwear has become so formulaic. We wanted to do a fashion-based, lifestyle swimwear brand.

What's lifestyle swimwear?
We don't necessarily have beaches in Manhattan, so we create the beach experience on a rooftop or on the West Side highway. We're New Yorkers: Whenever we're outside, hanging with friends, and wearing barely anything, that's what we call our beach.

A sequined suit from Nycked.Photo courtesy of Nycked.

Why all the black-and-white looks?
We wanted to accentuate the frilliness of being a woman without having all the crazy florals and pink. We're trying to create the antithesis of the Victoria's Secret conundrum. I go out of my way to avoid looking like that; I'd buy two pieces and f*ck them up because I don't want to look like everyone else.

Where do you expect people will wear the designs?
You can wear it to a day appointment or on a date, all these different places. We made this cover-up that's like an asymmetrical cape: part solid, part mesh. You can cover up your booty but expose your boobs. I spiced it up with jewelry and wore it to a party the other night.

Will your collaboration with Lorenzo extend beyond swimwear?
Our goal is to develop a lifestyle brand that can live and breathe and change and adapt.

Was Marc Jacobs involved at all?
He hasn't been involved. Marc is a living legend and an iconic person, but we want to be successful independently. We don't want to surf anyone else's waves. The fact that we have someone as respected as Marc in our circle is amazing, but we're not banking on that.

Really, though: Can you swim in these suits?
Totally. We thought about real-life applications. One of the suits has sequins, but it's a heat transfer; if you're swimming and your arms scratch against sequins, it'll be like a shark in bloody water. You don't want your butt to be stuck to the deck chair when you stand up, or to have two wet boob marks on the front of your cover-up — not cute. Our designs are very well thought out.

“Live”Blogging the Glee Finale!

This Tuesday, while most of you were watching the Glee season finale, I was attending the Logo NewNowNext Awards (more on that to follow). To many of you, this may seem like a conflict of interest. That’s because it is. To book the most fabulous gay awards show on the same night that the most fabulous gay television show is airing its finale seems
cruel. But good news! My DVR was all over that finale. And I am about to watch it. Right. Now.

So join me as I “Live”blog the Glee finale in real time. Keep refreshing to get the updates below!

:01: It hasn’t even been 3 seconds, and Mr. Schuester is already screaming at our beloved Principal Figgins. Sue’s judging regionals.

:02: Wait, the kids have to win/place at Regionals to continue hacing a group next year? God, I really hope they make it lest they are forced to cancel Season 2.

:03: Never realized how much this Quinn living with Mr. Schue plot borrows from the movie Summer School, where student Pam (Courtney Thorne-Smith) lives with her super-hot teacher named Mr. Shoop. What would Chainsaw have to say about this? (ED NOTE: Yes, I’m wrong. I blame the time zones. Still… NOT COMPLETELY OFF ON MY COMPARISON. No, I know I am. Just lemme have this.)

:03: Just looked at my Schmaltz Clock and we’re only 3 minutes in and the entire Glee club is already crying. Also did I miss the episode where Artie’s face was transplanted with a live baby squirrel? I want to feed him milk out of an eyedropper.

:06: Mrs. Pillsbury has a new man. Dental hygenist. Apparently also a huge p*ssy. She’s still a virgin. Mr. Schue is having a terrible day!

:07: Bur sort of feeling this moment where he’s crying in his car while listening to Journey. It’s what Jerry Maguire should have done.

:08: All Journey episode? Let me fast forward this sh*t I am PSYCHED.

:12: Back from commercial. WE ARE ALREADY AT REGIONALS. And my lord, Mr. Schue looks good. How on Earth does he afford these finely tailored, Zegna suits on a teacher’s salary? Weren’t he and his wife poor? How many hjs did he throw out there for that tie? Questions I’m asking myself.

:13: Josh Groban and Olive New-J make nice follow-up cameos. But a little sad that Sue didn’t but out her formal tracksuit. Put a bowtie on that sh*t, son! Who am I fooling? You can’t judge Sue. She’s the Royal Tenenbomb.

:13: There’s a group called “Oral Intensity.” Pretty sure I read about this once, but it involved Altoids…

:14: Rachel looks supes pretty so far. But Finn’s grin needs to be pixelated. It’s borderline pornographically stupid looking.

:16: Rachel nails the song “Faithfully.” Though I really wanted more gimmicks for regionals. Not just bump-its and neckties.

:19: Lazy! They didn’t even re-record this version of “Don’t Stop Believin.” Oh wait, they did. Wait, did they?

:21: Quinn’s father having an affair with some tattooed freak? Current.tv!

:25: Queen + Jonathan Groff? This is as close we’ve ever gotten to a man masturbating on television, America. Good on us, love it.

:26: Ugh, Quinn got water all over that beautiful dress. Mercedes staying with her for the birth, though? Gimme a break.

:27: Really hope the Itunes version of this song features Quinn’s birthing primal screams in the background. Well worth $1.29. The girl screaming “Galileo” however? I think she may have just cost Vocal Adrenaline regionals.

:28: Quinn is really good at giving birth. There should be an Emmy for Most Realistic Birth. Sadly, it would go to Snooki climbing out of a hot tub.

:31: BABIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:34: Question: Is the hospital right behind the auditorium? Or am I missing something*? (*I know I am.)

:36: Of course they make Josh Groban the good guy. Not buying it. Dagnabbit.

:37: “Kiss my ass, Josh Groban.”

:38: 20 minutes left and already a winner is being announced? INTRIGUE.

:39: I just realized it’s spelled Aural. Aural Intensity. Moving on.

:40: Kind of happy that New Directions didn’t win. Only because I want to see that beautiful Mr. Schuester cry again.

:45: No, really, is the nursery under the stage?

:45: I forgot how much more I like this show when Emma wasn’t up everyone’s ass. And now she’s making out with Will?? Glee’s really banging the square penis into the circular hole on this one.

:47: I shouldn’t be moved by this ending. I shouldn’t be. (Dabbing cheek with rice cake.)

:48:
TO SIR WITH LOVE! LULU!! One of my favorite songs ever. Full body chills. Yes, I am this much of a loser.

:50: Sue’s crying is actually what put me over. And then this Kanye commercial.

:53: “It’s as barren as me in here, Will.” Line of the night.

:55: They only get another year of Glee Club? Guess we know how Season 2 is ending. Again.

:58: Oh no.

:58: No.

:58: “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

:58: On a ukelele. No.

:58: How could they?

:59: Awwww wait!!!! SO CUTE. Rachel’s mom adopted Quinn’s baby. Non-incestual incesty tv feelings!!

1:00: Annnnnnnnnnnnd it’s over. Annnnd they’re showing the entire season over again this summer. Which means I will be watching the entire season again. Thank you for gaying.

Louis Vuitton, Giorgio Armani, and Dolce & Gabbana Join the World Cup Frenzy

If, like us, you’re far more interested in sexy soccer players than in the FIFA World Cup itself, then you’ll be thrilled to know that they’ll be dressed to the nines when the games kick off tomorrow. (And no, they won’t be wearing manties, though we’d sort of be down with that.)

For the fourth year, Dolce & Gabbana is creating off-field outfits for the Italian national team, accentuating their sculpted abs with a waistcoat and a jacquard tie; Strenesse has designed more understated ensembles for the German team, buttoning them into crisp blue blazers. On the field, twelve teams will be wearing new Adidas TechFit jerseys, which feature an elastic crisscross design on the back that supposedly “stores energy” to make players jump higher, run faster, and kick harder (it’s anyone’s guess as to how it works, but Adidas has the numbers to prove it). Meanwhile, Louis Vuitton was commissioned by FIFA to create a handmade leather trophy case for the solid 24-karat gold prize.

If you’re looking for something for your own closet, Giorgio Armani has created a World Cup accessories collection for Emporio Armani, including a belt, a weekend bag, and several T-shirts. He has also designed a pair of boxer-briefs with a detachable flag logo, so that you can customize your undies based on your favorite team. Wait, how did we get back on the subject of manties already?

Oscar De La Hoya’s Effeminate 90s Workout Tape

The internet continued its recent overachieving today by uncovering this awesomely 90s (and more than a little effeminate) Oscar De La Hoya boxing-workout video. Did you do something to my car when you borrowed it, internet? Cause this sudden niceness is a little suspicious. Don’t look at me like that, young man…thing.

This video is supposedly from 1997, which is unbelievable, cause the quality looks like Season One of American Gladiators. Just not that effeminate, obviously:

I’ve also taken the liberty of putting my favorite three seconds of the vid into a .gif. Now’s a good time to ask for a raise, right?

Wrigley Outdoes Itself in New Viral Campaign

Splash News Online brings us this gorgeous photo of a baby baboon chewing some street gum at Kruger National Park in South Africa. My father, coincidentally, has a great story from when he was a kid in 1950s Brooklyn, and he saw the local young prostitute pull a huge piece of gum off the street and put it in her mouth. That’s what Brooklyn used to be like, hipsters!

In other (same) news, is this not the most beautiful photo of an ape chewing gum you’ve ever seen?

(Ed. Note: I found some videos on Youtube of monkeys chewing gum, but seeing as they all looked like animal abuse, I won’t be posting them here. Search at your own chewy risk.)

Watch: Ralph Macchio Fake Trailer. Sure!

Here’s a fake trailer Funny Or Die made with Ralph Macchio. It’s funny, it’s cute, it highlights how nice Macchio is. There’s even a Molly Ringwald cameo. Sorry, spoiler. But, really, this post serves as a reason to mention the new Karate Kid movie, starring Jaden Smith. My friend and colleague Michelle Collins would like it to be known that Jaden, though a child, is a jerk-child, who she is almost positive (“98 percent sure”) pushed Jackie Chan on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet. That’s some insider gossip, y’all. Don’t know why I am Michelle’s spokesperson, I’m pretty sure she has other methods of communicating with you, but we won’t dwell on that. Also, if you watched Michelle’s hilarious red carpet outtake segment, you catch her calling Jaden “Jaded” Smith. ‘Cause he is OVER it. OK, here’s the video:

I just can’t believe that he’s 48 years old. That’s crazy. He’s like Dorian Gray* or Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn in Death Becomes Her. Before their bodies fall apart. I really hope someone out there enjoys a good Death Becomes Her reference. Who else had eternal youth? I don’t know.  Also, nice use of your indie music, F.O.D. The National, Arcade Fire? Coupled with Macchio’s mellifluous voice, I could just listen to this fake trailer.

*I’m shady on my Dorian Gray details. I think that’s a correct reference. If it’s not, don’t tell me. Ignorance, bliss, etc. (JK, I’ll Wiki it later)

OPEN THREAD: How Does This Photo of John Mayer and The Situation Make You Feel?

The nexxus of twattery exploded into a blue flame last night at the 2010 CMT Music Awards last night, as John Mayer and The Situation compare fleshy washboards for the cameras. Which makes us wonder if lifting up your shirt actually counts as a crunch. Because it would certainly explain why Sitch has the body of a Great Orange Shark.

SO.

We ask.

How does this make you feel?

For comparison’s sake, we offer you another photo of The Situation flashing his abs with another completely UNEXPECTED celebrity ahead. Compare the way your eyes fall out of your skull on each, and report all the details to us in the comments.

I think it’s safe to say Paula Deen just delivered a deep-fried butter truffle in her pants.

Watch: New Eclipse Clip

If you aren’t excited for Eclipse, the third enstallment of the Twilight Saga, this clip will definitely not change your mind regarding this portion of the Saga. Saga. However, if you are excited for the film, there is nothing this clip can do to dissuade you, because you love the Saga that is Twilight. As I am a masochist and have seen every installment of the Saga on opening night in the theater, I will see Eclipse in a similar, if not identical, fashion. Why stop now? There are many compelling reasons to stop now, but I prefer to just move forward without contemplation. It staves off the demons. Anyways, this clip has given me small hope for Eclipse, as I think the boy vampire is hot. Then again, I literally think everyone is hot. Everyone. You? You’re hot. So whatever. Without further ado, feed, you fiends, on this clip:

A for Acting, everyone! And, that advice, “Try not to get killed” applies to us all. This film works on so many effing levels. Eclipse, life lesson metaphors all OVER the place.

Saga.
