Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 11 Jun 2010 | 8:37 am "F.A.L.T.U is completely commercial, raw, real and faltu" - Jackky Bhagnani
His last film failed to pull the audiences to the theatres. His last film was promoted and marketed with full gusto. His last film had some professional mess up's too. Now in his second film, this young protege has let go of it all - his inhibition, his ego, his notion, etc. After meeting him in his vanity van on the sets of F.A.L.T.U somewhere near Bandra, he came across as a changed man. A man knowing what he is doing next, a man in control of things, a man who has learnt but is still a learner and a man who is not willing to bow down. But more importantly, I met a man who has understood that understanding an audience isn't important; it's all about understanding your film at the end of the day. UK's Harrow Observer columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent Devansh Patel meets Jackky Bhagnani, a changed man....because change is inevitable.
Preconceived notions
I have couple of preconceived notions from the first film I did. Nothing negative. Apart from that, I've squeezed everything out from my system. That's why it was a long break than what it should be.
Second strategy
Vashu Bhagnani
My father has been in the business for years and years, and this line will never get tougher for him because he has come from the worst era. Films were then made on abrupt basis. Today, our audience has become intelligent. You cannot take them for granted. The person who accepts it and moves with the generation will understand films.
F.A.L.T.U
F.A.L.T.U is completely commercial, raw, real and faltu. This is Remo's first Hindi film. He has already made his debut film in Bengali with Mithun. Knowing Remo, everyone is under the impression that F.A.L.T.U is going to be a dance inclined film but it's not. It is the coming of age story with lots of music. The film caters to all audiences because it is commercial.
Remo and I had this constant argument with dad as to what scenes should be etched and all. My dad wanted certain things which we both thought were not required because it didn't make sense and it didn't look real. He is a person who wants larger than life things. But we were adamant on the fact that wherever required, we will have those elements. So if a scene requires me to wear chappals, I'll wear it because it looks real. And that's how most of the kids go to college.

Following in the footsteps of Giselle Monteiro, Barbara Mori and Sarah Thompson, is yet another foreign babe Candice Boucher who is all set to make her Bollywood debut. For the uninitiated, Candice hails from South Africa and was in the news recently for appearing nude in the April issue of Playboy magazine.
Candice will be making her Bollywood debut in a film directed by Prashant Chadha (who earlier directed Himesh's debut flick Aap Kaa Surroor). The film will have the South African bombshell paired opposite yet another debutant Sachiin Joshi. Sachiin may be yet to make his debut but he does have strong Bollywood connections. After all he is the MD of XXX energy drink, the brand ambassador of which is none other than Baadshah of Bollywood- Shah Rukh Khan. During the recently held IPL, Sachiin was seen many-a-times in the company of SRK.
The as yet untitled film is going to be shot at some exotic locations like Germany, Morocco, China and the Czech Republic. The makers- Percept Pictures- are also planning to have a worldwide release by dubbing the film in as many as 5 languages.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 11 Jun 2010 | 7:06 am "I am a self confessed cricket lover" - Prachi Desai

The showcase was organized by gaming major Zapak at Phoenix Mills in Mumbai. The game was unveiled by Prachi along with the India's fast bowler Ishant Sharma. International Cricket 2010 is produced by Codemasters and developed by Trickstar Games.

I enjoy cricket in all forms too. With special features like Action Cam and Power Stick, International Cricket 2010 gives a real on-ground experience which will surely excite the gamers."
Arun Mehra, COO, Zapak Digital Entertainment Ltd. said, "Cricket is a passion in India and International Cricket 2010 will take this passion onto a whole new level. Imagine a scenario where Bollywood heroes start talking in Marathi. Well, this isn't all that has happened, but it has gone much beyond that! Before you start racking your brains any further, let us clarify that we are referring to an incident that had occurred on the sets of Akshay Kumar's forthcoming film Khatta Meetha.
All of us are aware of Akshay Kumar's excellent Marathi speaking skills and this time he is putting it to good use for his upcoming comedy Khatta Meetha. He plays a Marathi manus named Sachin Tichkule in this comic caper directed by Priyadarshan
Akshay will now be seen singing the song 'Nana-chi Taang' (which means 'Teri Aisi Ki Taisi' in Hindi) along with his co-star, newcomer Trisha in the film. The song set to the tunes of the ace music composer Pritam, who, the insiders say, has done a marvelous job of combining rock with a tinge of our very own Maharashtrian tadka. According to Bhushan Kumar of T-Series this song will be the biggest hit of the year.

No wonder then, that the publishing house saw potential in the Dharma Production's next I Hate Luv Storys as they felt that Imran's character in the film fits the M&B prototype to the T.
The publishing house Harlequin Mills & Boon and Dharma Productions have therefore tied up to come up with a special series of eight books. The books will have the cover of I Hate Luv Storys and will have the story of the characters of the film where Imran is the typical non believer of love.

Not many people have the audacity to say 'No' to the Big Boss of Bollywood - Amitabh Bachchan. Aamir Khan realised the same thing while having dinner with Big B in London last night. It so happened that Bachchan Sr., who is very active on popular social networking site Twitter, managed to achieve the impossible when he convinced the otherwise reclusive Aamir to join the same.
Tweeting about achieving Mission Impossible, Sr. Bachchan says, "Success commeth to those that dare and act !! Convinced the in-convincible Aamir over dinner to come on Twitter...we were not drinking!"
Soon after, Big B even posted a pic of Aamir and him having dinner. "With Aamir at dinner, Italian, good food and the smile on his face is his excitement of being convinced to come on Twitter."
Added Aamir, "He (Big B) was suggesting that I join twitter. In fact he sent a tweet while we were sitting together and showed me how it works. I must say he was most patient with me and most persuasive. I guess when I get back I will look at it."
Well one thing is certain that cyberspace is going to go berserk when Aamir Khan finally does come on Twitter.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 11 Jun 2010 | 4:58 am NYT Review: Sex And the City 2

It's now true that Karan Johar really has the formula to get the crowds into the theatres by the very brand that he has created. From his first film to the last one, he has been consistent and how. Not the one to feel embarrassed or apologetic, he openly declares that his markets lie on the other side of the seven seas. Indian audiences love his films but the passion that the Indians living abroad have for his films is certainly insurmountable. They love the drama, they love the larger than life sets, they relate to the cultures and traditions (that some of the upper middle class Indians have forgone), they are overwhelmed by the festivity and are startled by the fashionable and sometimes OTT wardrobes (he turned wardrobe designer with Dil To Pagal Hai)of the cast. The family system, the song sequences, the tear jerking scenes, the patent dialogues, it all touches a nerve and works like a baby. How he does it, is a big mystery but here is an alchemist who turns nothing into gold, whether you love him or hate him, he is here for good and his movies will roll the moolah in.
The beginning of the Transition
His upcoming film as a producer, I Hate LUV Storys, is more than just talked about on the social networking site. The man is all out to promote it and it shows that he is making a serious effort to divert from his usual style. He did that right after Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. It was a conscious choice that he made with the demise of his dad. He went out to say that his belief in forever after and all things love stories, is a thing of past. Yash Johar wasn't just a dad to Karan Johar, he was also a guiding light for his first two films Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, which went on to be mega hits of their respective year of release.
The last film to come out of Dharma Productions before Yash Johar's demise was one on death and loss of a loved one titled Kal Ho Naa Ho. A huge success. After such an enormous personal loss, Karan wanted to make meaningful films, that had a message and showed reality. Out came from Dharma productions Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, which was far from being a popcorn romantic film. Instead it spoke of extra marital affairs. The film, though controversial in its own way, was another feather in the cap for KJo. Dharma Productions then came out with the likes of Dostana. Far from being larger than life family drama, it was glitzy, glamorous and even had a take on homosexuality, though in a comic way. Wake Up Sid, was another young, hep film about youth and growing up.
The next film that Karan wrote and produced was Kurbaan, based on terrorism which something extremely Non-Karan, if I can take liberty with English language. Kurbaan is a story that had little to do with love, romance, family and the jazz, and a lot more with racism, terrorism and the serious and global issue of xenophobia. There was certain scepticism from KJo fans as they wondered how the God of screen romance had suddenly changed sides, was it an effect of recession? Kurbaan had mixed reviews; where there was comparison with then released New York starring John Abraham, Katrina Kaif and Neil Nitin Mukesh, there were others who thought that Karan had lost his touch.
Then came the Winner
Undeterred KJo came with My Name Is Khan. It came with a lot of hype. It was the first big film of 2010, SRK and Karan came together after 4 years, while the winning jodi of SRK and Kajol came onscreen after 9 years. Shah Rukh's detainment at the American airport had a lot of people talking about racism which was of course the main plot of the MNIK, and last but not the least it was after all a "Karan Johar film". Fear and anxiety was an unwanted company for both KJo and SRK as they wondered how the film would fare. KJo was obviously out of his comfort zone with a film dealing with the state of Asians and Muslims in the west and also there was tremendous pressure due to high expectations from the audiences. The film did enormous business and got Karan raving reviews and where everyone thought he would carry on with his newly acquired love for the serious issues plaguing the world, he once again took a U turn and announced he is going back to doing what he does best, making love stories.
Back to square one or is it?
Good news Bad news who knows, but the truth being Karan Johar was recently in New York looking for inspiration on the streets of the Big Apple. And one of his tweets from there read, "Have been walking streets and avenues...hoping the aimless strolls results in a burst of creativity!! Need to find a film this trip!!" It should be no surprise as his movies target the film fanatics of the west, inspiration must come from there as well. From London to New York, with the change in style of filmmaking, KJo has changed his destination for inspiration as well. Along with his pals, Gauri Khan and Sussanne Roshan, KJo even attended the premiere of Kites. Karan tweeted "The girl gang from mumbai have arrived in nycity!! Gauri and Sussanne walking 5th avenue is the sex and the city sequel before the release."
However, back in the city, Karan is back to business, busy promoting his next rom-com I Hate LUV Storys, with which he'll launch another new filmmaker, Punit Malhotra. He also has many more young filmmakers making their debut in coming months under Dharma's banner. Maybe it's his ability to move ahead with time and make movies that suit sensibilities of people of all ages makes Karan one of the most successful filmmakers in India.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 10 Jun 2010 | 10:35 am Still looking for female lead for 'Rockstar': Imtiaz AliThere were reports that Imtiaz Ali has finalised half Czech- half Pakistani model Nargis Fakhri for "Rockstar" opposite Ranbir Kapoor, but the director denied it saying he is still looking for the female lead.Source: Entertainment News | 10 Jun 2010 | 10:20 am Radio reality show winners to sing for Bollywood filmClaiming to be first of its kind, the radio reality show "Generation A-Star Mirchi Create With Agnee" will give its winners a chance to lend their voice in the upcoming Bollywood movie "Gulaab Gang".Source: Entertainment News | 10 Jun 2010 | 10:17 am "Joe in Rock On, Prithvi in Raajneeti are my dream roles" - Arjun Rampal

For his starrer Happi directed by Bhavna Talwar, where Pankaj Kapoor plays the Charlie Chaplinesque role of homeless tramp in Mumbai, most of the dialogues and sounds have been captured live. However, some vital portions of the brilliant actor's lines had to be dubbed in a studio.
Since Kapoor had to leave for Scotland to shoot for his first directorial venture, it was suggested that he dub the vital lines in Edinburgh at one of the poshest post-production studios in the world.
This week Pankaj Kapoor created recording history by being the first Indian actor to dub at the Canongate Studio in Edinburgh.
Speaking on behalf of Pankaj Kapoor, the film's producer Sheetal Talwar said, "This is the studio where Sean Connery dubs for all his films. We needed to dub just a handful of Pankaj-ji's lines. So we decided, why not do it at one at of the best post-production studios in the world since we were shooting right next to it."
Pankaj Kapoor was accompanied to the world-famous recording studio by his son Shahid Kapoor who wanted to get a feel of the way voices are dubbed in a studio that has recorded Connery's baritone for decades.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 10 Jun 2010 | 9:28 am Mithun now plays struggling actor in 'Shukno Lanka'After playing varied roles, three time National Award winning actor Mithun Chakroborty will be seen portraying a junior artist in the Bengali movie "Shukno Lanka".Source: Entertainment News | 10 Jun 2010 | 9:04 am Lara Dutta suffers wardrobe malfunction - Oneindia
Source: Entertainment - Google News | 10 Jun 2010 | 5:44 am Lucky Ali signed up as brand ambassador for Sennheiser
They always said 'Two's a company, three's a crowd', but the trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy changed it all. Not only have they made some of the most brilliant music that Bollywood has ever witnessed, but also went onto capture territories where very few musicians have been, namely, they went onto become the brand ambassadors of Sennheiser, the very name that spells world-class in recording instruments like microphones, headphones and wireless systems.
The news is that, the trio of S-E-L is not alone now; as they have the light eyed actor-singer-musician Lucky Ali, joining them as the brand ambassador for Sennheiser. Sources close to Bollywood Hungama vouch on this deal to be one of the most lucrative deals to have taken place between a musician and a FMCG company. Even though Lucky Ali's career did not take flight as an actor, this man continues to make music as a singer-composer and now a brand ambassador! Source: Entertainment - Google News | 10 Jun 2010 | 4:21 am Sudhir Mishra to sue writer for defamation & campaign for his ban in industry
A legal notice sent by a writer named Aditya Kripalani accusing Sudhir Mishra of stealing his script has the prolific and distinguished filmmaker very very angry. He intends to take legal action and to fight against false copyright claims that are made for publicity.
Says Sudhir, "Before making such claims or substantiating them by writing about them, people should read my script for Driver which I've apparently stolen from this Kripalani chap. First of all I am not scriptwriter for Driver. Althia Dalmaj Kaushal is. She was suggested to me by my producer Ekta Kapoor. Driver is about forbidden love, that's what attracted Ekta Kapoor to my cinema. Kripalani is basing his assumption on what he has read about my film in the media. Even Arvind Adiga's White Tiger is about a chauffeur and a rich man."
Sudhir claims that the story which Kripalani claims as his own was given to him by producer Manu Kumaran and journalist-writer Pankaj Kapoor 7 years ago. "Manu hired Aditya to write a story for a film that I was to direct. But Manu didn't like Aditya's story. So Manu decided to write it himself. That matter was between Manu and Aditya, not me. I was supposed to direct that film for Zee Telefilms. There's proof of the registration of that story. So now Kriplani is in trouble. Because Kriplani apparently stole Manu Kumaran's idea to write his novel Back Seat. What is he talking about? I think he got excited when he read your article about Ranbir Kapoor being in the project. This man has fallen into his own trap."
Sudhir's lawyer is now preparing a counter-notice. "My lawyers are on the job. But what are Kripalani's allegations? He hasn't read my script. So how does he know my script is taken from him? During my entire career, I've always done original work. If I've to plagiarize at this stage of my career it'd have to from much better sources than this. The pleasure of scripting my films comes from writing about my own impressions and experiences. That's why I'm a filmmaker. Why would I copy this kid? If I owe any inspirational debt to anyone its Guru Dutt, no one else."
Sudhir says the idea of making a film on the neo-affluent class of Delhi is inspired by his cousin. "This cousin had run away from home looking for me. He became a servant in someone's house in Delhi. So it's story based on incidents from my own family. Just a chauffeur's presence in my film doesn't make it anyone else's property. Fortunately my script has evolved in front of my producer Ekta. So she knows where it's coming from. If I wanted to remake Kripalani's book I'd have asked Ekta to buy it, no? In fact she offered to buy Sagarika Ghosh's book for me."
Sudhir now intends to take serious action against Kripalani. "Besides legal action, once I finish my script I will take it to every writer's guild in Mumbai and ask for it to be compared with Kripalani's book. I think people who defame without basis should be barred from our industry. Kripalani has harmed the prospects of any aspiring writer who comes to us. We'll think twice before allowing them access into our office. As for Kripalani, no one will hire him in future either. It's really sad. Why didn't he contact me if he thought he had a grievance? There's proof that he's lying in every line of his. My friends know about Driver for months because I share my ideas openly. I'm not a sneaky plagiarist."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 10 Jun 2010 | 4:01 am 'Kites' world television premiere slated on ColorsThe world television premiere rights of Hrithik Roshan-starrer "Kites" have been sold to Colors channel within a month of the film's release.Source: Entertainment News | 10 Jun 2010 | 3:47 am Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy to endorse 94.3 Radio OneMusic director trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, who have composed melodies for films like "Taare Zameen Par" and "Rock On!", have been appointed the brand endorsers of 94.Source: Entertainment News | 10 Jun 2010 | 3:38 am
