Last Night on Late Night: Jon Stewart Has a History Lesson for Helen Thomas

The sad end to Helen Thomas' storied career gave The Daily Show's Jon Stewart an opportunity find some humor in the the whole unfortunate situation by reminding the trailblazing journalist why the Jews might have some reservations about returning to Poland and Germany. Wrapping things up, Jay Leno solves the mystery of Jillian Michael's haunted house and Terry Crews' finds that he has nothing on Craig Ferguson when it comes to possessing talented body parts. Industry Roundup: Mr. Schue Recording Solo Album, Julia Stiles Joins Dexter

New Direction: Glee’s Matthew Morrison , who plays glee club leader Will Schuester, will be spending his summer break from the hit show recording his first solo CD. Morrison, who has an extensive background on Broadway, will spend part of June recording the album in London. "I'm writing all the music for it. It's me and a big orchestra behind me," he said, describing his sound as “dance heavy” and a “cross between Michael Buble and Justin Timberlake.” Whatever you do Matthew, please, no rapping. [HR]

Bloody Good: Julia Stiles has joined the cast of Showtime's Dexter for its upcoming fifth season. She is set to appear in 10 of the season’s 12 episodes, playing a “mysterious young woman who forms a unique relationship with Dexter in the wake of the death of his wife.” Let’s hope she's as intriguing as season two's Lila... just without the completely psychotic element. Dex has been through enough. [HR]

Captain's Maker: Stanley Tucci has been cast as Abraham Erskine in Captain America: The First Avenger, joining Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Hugo Weaving and Hayley Atwell. In the comics, Erskine is a German scientist who is instrumental in "creating" Captain America, which means we're probably in for more of a Lovely Bones Tucci than a Julie & Julia Tucci. [Variety]

Kick Ass: FX is joining forces with Matthew McConaughey on a single-camera comedy tentatively titled Kick Ass Militia, based on source material from McConaughey’s pal JR Reed. The story follows two brothers - “one a survivalist and one a free-loving cult leader” - who are always at odds on their Malibu compound. McConaughey is executive producing and it’s unclear if he’ll appear on the series - though if he is, just a hunch, we're thinking he'd be the "free-loving" one. [Deadline]

Not So Beautiful: Beastly - the romantic fantasy film based on Beauty and the Beast, starring Vanessa Hudgens, Alex Pettyfer and Neil Patrick Harris - has been bumped from its scheduled July 30 release until March 18, 2011. Indie CBS Films made the decision after the “similarly themed” Zac Efron flick Charlie St. Cloud moved to the same July 30 date. Hmm, things are probably pretty quiet in the Zanessa household tonight. [HR]

Lidell Live!: Jamie Lidell is embarking on a tour this summer of the U.S., Canada and Europe behind his latest LP, Compass. Lidell also has a new video out for single "I Wanna Be Your Telephone," which tragically bears no relation to the Gaga song. [Pitchfork]

Panda Breaks Loose: Animal Collective member Panda Bear will be releasing a full-length album Tomboy, the culmination of a series of singles he will release for different labels. Additionally, Panda will play a few U.S. and European shows scattered in August and September... including a New York show on Governor's Island in September - hurray! [Pitchfork]

Mark Wahlberg 'Focused' On Entourage Movie, Hints At Ari-Lloyd Vegas Plot

If you stopped watching Entourage back when Vince was filming that Pablo Escobar movie and the thought of an Entourage film already has you moving to click out of this tab, producer Mark Wahlberg is hoping to lure you with the possibility of a Hangover-esque plot involving Ari and Lloyd for the movie, which he confirmed is in the works.

“I am more focused on making that movie than my own films,” he said Sunday night. “I just think we can make a great movie. I think people always wanted [it] and have complained that the episodes are too short — they've always wanted more... In the trailer, you see [Ari and Lloyd] waking up together in Vegas not knowing what happened. It would be pretty cool!"

Eh. We'd be more excited if they were able to convince Mandy Moore to come back.

Obama Talking To Experts to Determine 'Whose Ass to Kick'

"I was down there a month ago, before most of these talking heads were even paying attention to the Gulf. A month ago I was meeting with fishermen down there, standing in the rain talking about what a potential crisis this could be... I don't sit around talking to experts because this is a college seminar. We talk to these folks because they potentially have the best answers, so I know whose ass to kick." - President Obama - seemingly taking his angry game to the next level - in an interview about the oil spill to air on Tuesday morning's 'Today' show. Israel Appoints Team of Experts to Review Flotilla Incident

Despite the fact that the U.N. Security Council is launching an independent inquiry into last week’s raid, Israel’s military's chief of general staff has appointed a “team of experts” to investigate Israel’s interception of the Gaza-bound flotilla in order to “establish lessons from the event” in which nine were killed. The team will “analyze the various investigations” currently in process to determine whether the incident "met with the standards of international law." The review, which will be overseen by two international observers (one American), is scheduled to have its results ready by July 4. [CNN, Guardian]

Christine Quinn, Catholic League Team Up In Honor of Mother Teresa

Openly gay City Council speaker Christine Quinn has, uh, not often seen eye-to-eye with the uber-conservative Catholic League, butting heads on issues like gay marriage and whether gays should be allowed to march in the St. Patrick’s Day parade, to name a few. But leave it to Mother Teresa to bring them together! Quinn and the league have joined forces to, of all things, fight to get the Empire State building to put up a light display in honor of Teresa’s 100th birthday this upcoming August 26.

The building rejected the league’s request for the holy woman to be honored with a display of blue and white lights and - when Quinn heard of the veto - she decided to reach out to the building’s ownership herself.

"The question of why the building will not be lit is a question that deserves answering," Quinn told the Daily News. "As far as I'm concerned, the answer should be yes."

Quinn said she asked the owners - who have reportedly received “thousands of petitions” to overturn the decision - to reevaluate their stance and "choose to honor this wonderful woman who has given so much to the world." The Empire State Building Lighting Partners has remained silent about the controversy.

MTV Apologizes For Onslaught of 'F-Bombs' During Movie Awards

Peter Facinelli let loose with the 'f-bombs.'

After taking some heat for its strangely expletive-laden Movie Awards, MTV has issued an apology for all of the profanity (some of which made it past the censors):

"The MTV Movie Awards is a live televised event known for irreverent comedy and a party atmosphere where our guests speak more freely than they otherwise might. While we aired the live broadcast with a delay, we were unable to mute every word that some might find objectionable. All of these words will be muted in subsequent airings. We sincerely apologize to those in our audience who were offended by any objectionable words that might have slipped by for the live airing."

Also, the show attracted 4.6 million viewers, representing a 13 percent drop from 2009’s telecast. Perhaps viewers were turned off by last year’s Bruno-Eminem stunt... or they wisely just wanted to avoid the one-two punch of “California Gurls” and Twilight mania.

New Spider-Man To Be... Billy Elliot?

The internet has worked itself into a frenzy today at the rumor, which originally surfaced on the site Bleeding Cool, that Jamie Bell - who struck fame playing the titular role in 2000's Billy Elliot and has since appeared in films like Defiance and King Kong - has been selected as the new Peter Parker in the upcoming Marc Webb reboot of the franchise. Lending credence to the rumor is that Bell was one of the five actors on the shortlist leaked two weeks ago. But then again: remember when everyone thought Jim from The Office was a lock to play Captain America? If the Bell rumor is in fact true though, the over 11,000 members of the “Donald Glover 4 Spiderman!!!” Facebook group are in for some serious heartbreak. [Bleeding Cool via The Playlist]

Fox News Angling for Helen Thomas' Vacated Seat

Helen Thomas’ empty seat is barely warm, but Fox News is already making a play for her coveted front-row real estate in the White House Briefing Room. Sources in the White House Correspondents’ Association (which oversees the seating arrangements) said Fox has been arguing for years that it deserves a spot in the front row alongside CNN, ABC and MSNBC, who sit next to the Associated Press and Reuters. But the news outlet will have to fight it out with some heavy hitters for the perch: The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Bloomberg News and Washington Post are also said to be angling for the seat. The decision could come down as soon as Thursday.

And the Biggest Country Artist of the Last 25 Years Is ...

Eat it, Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Shania Twain, Rascal Flatts, and any other act that would, at least at first look, be considered a legitimate contender for the title of biggest country artist of the last 25 years! In anticipation of the CMT Music Awards, Billboard took a look back through a quarter century of country music charts and declared George Strait — he of the 44 country No. 1's — king. Party Lines Slideshow: Bun B, Taraji Henson, Keri Hilson, and More at 2010 VH1 Hip Hop Honors

Tonight VH1 airs the latest edition of its Hip Hop Honors series, this time paying tribute to the Dirty South. The show was shot last week at Hammerstein Ballroom, however, and it was there where we got Bun B to tell us the story behind his line "Chilling like Kathie Lee and Hoda": "My wife is a big Today show fan. We usually watch from 7 to 9, but every now and then it kind of leaks over into that 9 to 10 hour, and, you know, they get to have their mimosas, and [my wife] wants her mimosa, and it just turns into a whole other thing. I think she just cuts it on just to see if they’re drinking in the morning, so that maybe we can have a drink, too. It gives her an excuse. So keep up the good work, Kathie Lee and Hoda." Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds Will Make a Movie That Is Like The Proposal

Disney may not have wanted to make a sequel to the very profitable Sandra Bullock–Ryan Reynolds rom-com The Proposal because it couldn’t figure out a theme-park ride to squeeze out of it (but did they really, really try? There has to be a get-married-for-a–green card maze they could whip up), but Universal Pictures is down. Or at least down to assemble the entire creative team behind The Proposal for a new comedy and hope it earns them $315 million dollars. The studio has picked up a pitch for Most Wanted, which co-stars Bullock and Reynolds as a criminal and U.S. Marshal, respectively, forced to go on the run, has a script from The Proposal's screenwriter, and will hopefully be helmed by The Proposal's director. Universal is already prepping a very expensive "Ha-ha, Disney, you are so silly for letting these people go" gift basket. [Hollywood Insider/EW]

At the moment, a poll on the Huffington Post says that 84 percent of respondents would rather have a two-year contract with Jane Lynch than the new iPhone 4. The 2010 MTV Movie Awards: Let’s Make Celebrities UnComfortable on the Red Carpet!

As my epic post chronicling my experience at last night’s 2010 MTV Movie Awards live from Los Angeles warned, I was on the red carpet interviewing some of your favorite celebrities. Did I say interviewing? I meant making them slightly to moderately uncomfortable.

Of course, I kid. Celebrities love me! Celebrities such as Snoop Dogg, Whitney Port, Johnny Weir, T.I., Omarion, The Blind Side’s Quinton Aaron, Cast of The Buried Life, Dr. Drew Pinsky, Jake Abel, New Moon Kiowa Gordon, The Dudesons (from Finland, insane), and the only Celtics fan in L.A., Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

But really, watch this. I paid for an up-do and everything, come on.

FCIC Annoyed That Goldman Sachs Is Making Them Work for It

Oh, those crafty folks at Goldman Sachs. They figured out how to play the financial crisis to their advantage, and now, apparently, they've figured out how to wriggle out of any wrongdoing, by providing the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission with too little and too much information. Today, the commission subpoenaed Goldman for “failing to comply with a request for documents and interviews in a timely manner.” Simultaneously, Committee Chairman Phil Angelides complained that the firm had given them too much information, after the firm delivered 20 million pages of documents to the office. But that's not what they asked for!

"We did not ask them to pull up a dump truck to our offices to dump a bunch of rubbish," Angelides said in a conference call.

No word on whether Goldman actually rented a garbage truck, which would be amazing to say the least. He went on.

We're not going to let the American people be played for chumps here. We should not be forced to play 'Where's Waldo' on behalf of the America people."

Honestly. This isn't what Angelides signed up for. He thought he was just supposed to show up, shout out a few questions he read in the New York Times, and Bob's your uncle — not do actual work. How's he supposed to figure out where Goldman committed fraud without the company pointing out exactly where and how they did it? Goddamn this gig. His agent is so fired.

Iman and Michael Kors Remember an Age When Models Were Encouraged to Have Opinions

Iman in the CFDA Journal.

Tonight at the CFDA awards, The Fashion Show's new co-host, Iman, will receive the Fashion Icon award. Why? Aside from being a beauty who's, well, iconic, the Times explains:

The choice of Iman by the council’s board wasn’t obvious — it’s not as if she is known for her distinctive way of dressing, like the recent honorees Kate Moss (2005) and Sarah Jessica Parker (2004). But the decision seemed to have come almost spontaneously, according to Diane von Furstenberg, the group’s president: “Somebody, I don’t remember who it was, mentioned Iman’s name at the meeting, and everybody said ‘Wow.’ The vote was unanimous.”

Oh, so the CFDA works in ways as mysterious as we've always suspected. But Iman, who launched her cosmetics line for women of color in 1994 and now sells a line of caftans and other accessories on QVC, also has a point of view — one that designers respect, and that at least Michael Kors seems to miss.

After moving to New York in 1975 having never worn makeup or high heels:

She credits the nurturing she got from designers, who gave her confidence in an era when model-muses were prized for their individuality — and their own ideas. “We were allowed to talk and to change things,” she said.

Designers like Yves Saint Laurent or Mr. Mugler expected her to speak up. “ ‘Do you like that? Would you wear it that way?’ ”she said. “You could be your own person. And nobody walked the same way on the runway.”

“Don’t get me wrong, there are great girls today,” she said, listing stars like Raquel Zimmermann, Coco Rocha and her namesake Chanel Iman. “But they have lost that role, of collaborating with the designers. There is not that relationship anymore.”

It’s an opinion shared by Mr. Kors, who recalled his first fashion show in 1984, when Iman restyled a shawl her way before she hit the catwalk and how much better it looked.

“No way would that happen today,” he said. “It’s hard for a 16-year-old model to have an opinion.”

It's also hard for us to recognize all the new, young girls, and we wish we could. If models are allowed to have curves and work past the age of 22 again, maybe the industry will encourage them to vocalize their opinions, too.

Resort Shows Interfere With Robbie Myers’s Schedule

In the past few years, resort collections have blossomed into one of the biggest-selling seasons in fashion, but the scheduling of shows has yet to take on the cohesiveness of spring or fall Fashion Week. This year, it’s gotten so unwieldy that it’s interfering with Elle editor Robbie Myers’s busy summer calendar. “The thing that’s torture about it is that it’s become a full-fledged show season, but it’s spread out over almost three weeks. So it’s impossible to schedule and get your work done and all that,” she said at the Jason Wu show Friday. “I’m not going to complain about it,” she added quickly, “but the fact is that in the last three years, this season has bloomed into seated shows and a different kind of calendar. And if you’re in the fashion-magazine business, this month is when you’re closing the biggest issue of the year.”

Wu confirmed that resortwear has indeed become a principal season. “This is the biggest resort collection I’ve ever done,” he said. His show, which featured bateau stripes, a pressed-daffodil silk print, and jabot dresses topped with polka-dotted ascots and boater hats, displayed only a third of his designs. “It’s a full collection, and it’s become one of our biggest seasons, and it’s really important.”

Unlike Myers, fashion writer Derek Blasberg said he enjoys the more laid-back, drawn-out nature of resort shows. “It’s polite and pleasant and not as manic and hectic as the normal Fashion Weeks. I’m not complaining about it. Don’t mess it up for me!” he said. “Things are a little more spaced out and there’s not a bunch of parties at night. Fashion Week’s hectic, man. Let’s keep resort a little more pleasant. Easy-breezy. That’s what resort’s all about anyway, right?”

The 2010 MTV Movie Awards: What You Didn’t See

The MTV Movie Awards. The “secondi piatti” in our pop culture meaningless awards show diet. When I found out I would be heading to LA to cover the red carpet and then see the show live, I steam cleaned my cleav crack, found the sluttiest Vegas showgirl dress in my wardrobe from my Off-Broadway stint in Indecent Proposal 2: How Much? That’s All? Fine., and pulled out a pair of heels lest there be any celebrity fetishists in my midst. The MTV Movie Awards were no joke1. And I… I would be there.

Delusions of heavenly celebrity grandeur were quickly diminished once members of the press (Yes, I am one. No, I know.) were filed out onto the red carpet in the boiling hot sun, something I hadn’t planned for in Los Angeles, California, because I don’t have a PhD in “The Most Obvious Things.” Now, a major thank you to MTV Press for hooking me up with a spot on the carpet, sandwiched between the lovely people at VH1 News and BET.2 And a bigger thank you to AJ, who hooked me up with some coffee and a small bag of Goldfish brand crackers that would eventually be given to Snoop Dogg. (True story.)

That being said, within 10 minutes of standing outside in the boiling heat, I looked like this:

Thankfully, the lovely Michael of Popbytes had a small bottle of sunscreen he was willing to share with me, which I then liberally shmeared all over my body while making not work appropriate sounds of ecstasy. SPFFs 4VR.

2 hours and 9 heatstrokes later… the celebrities arrived! And oh, how much fun we had:

  • Me screaming at: Zac Efron (gorgeous), Peter Facinelli (gooorgeous), Shaun White (abs), and Lindsay Lohan (who did like her ankle bracelet and SCRAMmed).
  • In a bid to get Mark Wahlberg to talk to me, I screamed “Mark! I’m a Boston native!!! Are you going to turn down a Boston native?!” Now, we all know this is not true. But, I did get a trademarked Mark Wahlberg smile and point, so all was not lost.
  • Sandwiched between other interviewers, I was “forced” to stand a mere 2 inches away from one of BWE.tv’s Hottest Silver Foxes Dr. Drew Pinsky. This was truly my best sighting/interview of the day. (Video evidence to follow.)
  • Johnny Weir putting his angel face in my bosom. This is a thing that happened. Most funny internet friend Claire Zulkey messaged to say “I think you might be technically pregnant now.” To which I responded, “I just peed on a diamond and it turned into a butterfly so I think you’re right.”
  • Omarion and his brother O’Ryan, being the most charming people in the universe.
  • T.I., whose smile is officially the most wondrous thing I’ve ever laid eyes on. It needs to be on a pulpit in the Vatican.

Wait a sec. Watching the video would probably be easier:

But enough red carpet tidbits! There is video footage of that below. No, it’s showtime. 6 PM Pacific time. I hustled my sequined as doing a high-heeled tiny foot into the theater. And the set. The set! It was 9 Imaxes wide, 50 Cloverfields high, and very, very busy. It was staggering. Glorious. I don’t know who designed this set, but it’s safe to say this person, male or female, has either a microscopic or an uber-gigandy penis.

The show was hosted by comedian Aziz Ansari, who reunited with the beloved Human Giant cast for one of the night highlights, a little video called Stunt Kidz.

The other highlight, obviously, was Tom Cruise rapping and dancing as Les Grossman, his Tropic Thunder alter-ego. Yes, my rods and cones have witnessed this funstrosity live and in person, though to be fair my seat was so far away that for a good 3 minutes I thought he had been dancing with Beyonce and not Jennifer Lopez.

Then there was the totally unplanned make-out between Sandra Bullock, wearing shoes with a built in mini-stage, and Scarlett Johansson. My ears are still ringing from the sonic boom of applause received by Sandra, followed by primal shrieks of lust for Rob Pattinson and Betty White. (Side-note: Feelin’ R Pattz’ new hairstyle.)

Halfway through the show, during a well-timed red wine break, I peeked outside of the theater to see worker bees putting together the after-party. A party which I did not possess a ticket for. A party which I had to attend in order to feel better about myself as a person. (That last sentence is California’s official motto, by the way.)

This called for some I Love Lucy-like tactics. I found an outdoor smoking nook that was momentarily unguarded, and snuck past the rope. Technically, I was already in the party. Albeit 20 minutes early. Yes, while the Movie Awards were going on inside, I was perched on a concrete block next to some discarded ottomans biding my time, trying to avoid guards. The one guard who DID see me quipped “Enjoying the show from back here?” to which I responded “Best seat I could get!” We laughed while invisi-sweat poured down the side of my face out of fear.

Gratefully, no one booted me out of my little hidey hole, so when the party started, I was able to waltz right on in, directly in front of throngs of rejected party people looking in enviously. “Pft, commoners” I thought, as I brushed concrete powder off the back of my dress from sitting on a pillar for 20 minutes.

The party was worth the wait. Tons of food stretching in every direction, a morsel of which I did not touch because, hello, what if I ran into someone I knew and I was eating? “No thank you” I thought as I publicly reached into the top of my dress to reperk my breasts up.

Highlight for me personally was running into Ronnie and Sammi “Sweetheart” from Jersey Shore, dressed to the nines, in great moods. This is an exact transcript:

Me: “Guys! You inspired me. I went to a tanning bed on Friday to prepare for the show.”

Ronnie: “Don’t go to tanning beds!! You gotta get sprayed!”

Me: “Spray tanned? I don’t know. I don’t like the idea of someone spray tanning my area.” (Circling hand around area.)

Sammi “Sweetheart”: “What? No I don’t like that either. They have machines that do it! Use the spray machines!”

Me: “I am constantly learning from you.”

Everyone: Laughter.

No, but really, you guys, they’re so nice. I will always side with them in a bar fight, let it be known.

As the party wore down, rumors swirled that Aziz and Tom Cruise were hosting parties at the Soho House, while Katy Perry hosted an after-party at Las Palmas. Someone asked whether I’d be going. As someone who had to sneak in to what I am now considering the pre-party to the “real” after-parties, the answer was no. No, I’m not going to stand in the lobby of the Soho House to claw my way up into a party where I’d know nearly no one to stand around and drink and stare. I would have to be on the list to do all of those things, because I have class.

That being said, the day was INCREDIBLY fun. I met some fine people from the MTV LA office, mingled with local characters, and managed to turn my Eastern European whiteface into a more sultry navy red. MTV, you spoil me. I thank you.

1Reverse JK.

2Things eventually got confusing on the carpet when the lot of us were shuffled over a few inches, placing me in front of the BET News sign. Many confused looks, like “Why is this giant white girl working for BET?” Thankfully, the gentleman sent over by BET was actually black, which cleared up some confusion. However, believe me, if BET were to hire a giant white girl, it would be me.

Is This Video A Sign Of The Death Of The Internet Or A Rebirth?

Upon seeing this following video, I remarked to fellow BWE blogger Dan Hopper, “The internet is dead.”  He responded by saying, “I disagree. To me this indicates the internet is more alive than ever.”  This is by far the most heated argument Dan and I have ever engaged in, and I would like you, the readers of Best Week Ever Dot Tee Vee, to settle it for us.  Does this video mean the internet is dead or more alive than ever?

I want to be clear.  I at least sort of like this video.  I just also happen to think it means the internet is dead.

InStyle's spotlight stealers at the MTV Movie Awards

From the very beginning of last night's MTV Movie Awards pre-show -- when the super-tanned, sparkle-encrusted female half of the "Jersey Shore" cast pulled up to the red carpet in a white stretch humvee -- it was clear that subtlety wasn't exactly in style at Los Angeles's Gibson Amphitheater. Instead, the biggest stars opted for bright colors, sequins, super-short skirts, and spectacle... and we couldn't take our eyes off of them. Here are our favorite spotlight stealers from the show.

Sarah Palin Did Not Underdress for the Belmont Stakes on Purpose

The dress code at the Belmont Stakes isn't as serious as the dress code at the Kentucky Derby, but people still dress up and wear fancy hats — this isn't NASCAR. Sarah Palin, however, who attended the race on Saturday as a guest of Marylou Whitney — "the reigning socialite in the horse-racing world," according to StyleList — didn't dress up at all. She wore a T-shirt, on-trend cargo pants, a trucker hat, and bedazzled sunglasses. Apparently this was her plane outfit and she didn't have time to change on the way to the race from JFK because her limo got lost. [StyleList]

Smoking Baby, Meet Drinking Toddler. Drinking Toddler, Smoking Baby.

The two-packs-a-day baby? Totally last month. Also he’s probably dead.

June 2K10 is all about this beer-drinking toddler. In fact, I’m officially declaring this month to be “Drinking Toddler Month”. Did I mention I’m the mayor of this towne now? I have a sash that says “MAYOR” on me, so anything I say counts.

Smoking baby and drinking toddler both hitting the ‘nets just weeks apart? There’s only one logical conclusion — kids these days are really frickin’ cool.

Check Out the Bathing Suits Lorenzo Martone Designed With Jules Kim

In February we learned that Lorenzo Martone would enter the glorious world of slash careers by starting a swimsuit line with Bijules jewelry designer Jules Kim. Images of a few styles, designed by both Martone and Kim, have been released. Though Martone is from Brazil, where people appreciate swimsuits so much they don't take a beach vacation without bringing four options with them, this line was inspired by Manhattan. Hence the name, Nycked, which has "NYC" in it and is pronounced "Nicked" not "Nekkid," as you might suspect. Prices range from $120 to $130 for suits, while cover-ups go up to $210. Martone and Kim will show the line to retailers at Miami Swim Fashion Week in July, and hope to get picked up by Saks and Neiman Marcus.

Though the line is trendy, it's also practical!

“There are only sequins on the front of this bikini bottom, and not the back, so that it’s more comfortable to sit on at the edge of a pool,” Kim said.

Snorkel away, friends. Just don't let the barracuda munch on your bust bow.

Really Great Mockery-Of/Homage-To Action Films

If I wrote a description of this video, it would no doubt be very wordy and bloated.  I will, therefore, not waste your time with that and instead cut and paste the incredibly concise description that appears under the video on Vimeo.

A meditation on genre, a commentary on visual cliches, and a celebration of the visceral pleasures of cinema. Music by The Jesus Lizard.

Coooooooool!

Does anyone else have Sabotage by the Beastie Boys stuck in there head now even though the song in that video wasn’t Sabotage?

(By way of  @videogum Tweet)

Lost And Moesha Finally Come Together

Are your favorite two TV shows Lost and Moesha?  Yes, of course they are; you’re a human being. Well, what if I were to tell you you could watch an uneventful TMZ clip of Michael Emerson, the guy who plays Benjamin Linus, walking through an airport?  Oh…you wouldn’t care about that?   Did I mention that Brandy appears at the end of the clip and tells him she loves Lost?  Yeah, that’s right!  You:

Check out seconds 37 through 54 of the video after the jump.

Just as a warning, you shouldn’t watch this video if you’re squeamish because neither Michael Emerson nor the TMZ guy seem to know who Brandy is.  Gross.  I got queasy just thinking about that.

You:  Excuse me, Noah… did you do this post just for the gif joke because all you really like to do is post gifs?

Me:  Psht, noooooooooooooooo.

(Bang!  You shoot me in the head.)

Tim Burton, Helena Bonham Carter Continue Living In Tim Burton Movie

Here’s Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter on the red carpet for the British Academy Television Awards, which sounds like one of those generic “SODA” cans that people hold in movies when they can’t show the brand, but an Awards Show.

Clearly, their lives are a Tim Burton movie — this isn’t news. I just hope their lives don’t also start being superexpensive adaptations of recognizable brands that you walk out of slowly realizing you didn’t enjoy yourself.

TRAILER MIX: Is This Actually Gulliver’s Travels?

Here’s the trailer for Gulliver’s Travels, a film which resulted from one of the following three scenarios:

1) An existing Jack Black script that someone decided should be renamed “Gulliver’s Travels”, and a part with little people was hastily thrown onto the end.

2) A script for Gulliver’s Travels had been bouncing around Hollywood for 10 years, finally got Jack Black attached, and was rewritten to include 40 minutes of pre-Travels Jack Black shtick.

3) Even though the trailer is 80% pre-Travels and 20% little-people-montage, the trailer isn’t proportional to the actual movie, and it’s actually an accurate thematic interpretation of the original work, a vicious satire of mankind’s petty and warlike nature, and Jack Black’s there.

If I had to bet, I’d bet on “It is weird that I am allowed to bet on this”.
