News: Entertainment News | 6 Jun 2010 | 9:55 pm New Moon Sweeps at MTV Movie Awards; More Importantly, Sandra Bullock Kisses Scarlett Johansson In a surprise to absolutely no one, Twilight: New Moon cleaned up at the MTV Movie Awards Sunday night, winning golden popcorn statues for the movie, male performance (Robert Pattinson), female performance (Kristen Stewart) and the coveted best kiss prize for Pattinson and Stewart’s liplock... which they recreated (in the most awkward way possible) at the podium (full list of the night's winners here). But all of this was overshadowed by the triumphant return of Sandra Bullock, who was the first woman to receive the Generation Award, presented by her All About Steve co-star Bradley Cooper, The Proposal co-star Betty White… and Scarlett Johansson, whose involvement in the proceedings consisted of one (relatively tame) kiss with Sandra. After the smooch, Bullock pleaded, “Now that we’ve done that, can we please go back to normal? Because therapy is really expensive... Since he's still promoting his memoir, Hitch-22, Christopher Hitchens, author of God is Not Great and a known ball-waxer, sat down with the Times' Deborah Solomon. On his decision to include his Brideshead, Revisited-like school boy romances in his memoir, Hitchens explained: "There are still people who want to criminalize homosexuality one way or another, and I thought it might be useful if more heterosexual men admitted that they are a little bit gay, as is everyone, and that homosexuality is a form of love and not just sex."
Solomon noted, "Not everyone is 'a little bit gay' as you say," and asked, "Do you think your basic sexual confusion underlies your political confusions?" "No, I wouldn’t call it confusion. I’d call it a punctuated consistency."
Whatever that means. Hitchens also admits: "Of course [I wrote my memoir for money], I do everything for money. Dr. Johnson is correct when he says that only a fool writes for anything but money. It would be useful to keep a diary, but I don’t like writing unpaid. I don’t like writing checks without getting paid."

In an extensive story about Bravo's audience-based decision-making process, the Times caught up with The Real Housewives of New York City's Bethenny Frankel and, like the rest of us, the gray lady has quite a bit to say about her. First they imply that Bravo Bethenny isn't quite like real-life Bethenny:
Bravo, according to writer Stephanie Clifford, divides its core audience into four categories: "Wills and Graces," or "cosmopolitan, upscale men and women," "P.T.A. Trendsetters," or cool moms, "Metrocompetitors," the urban men who like pop culture, and "Newborn Grown-Ups," post-college twentysomethings. “We only talk to those very specific groups,” said a Bravo producer. They also listen to those groups, and Clifford argues that Bethenny's online popularity with this audience earned her a spinoff: "In marketing terms, Bravo is just extending its product line." But then, as life so often does on this network, things take a sudden turn, and Clifford starts taking digs at LuAnn de Lesseps and Jill Zarin:
"Model-turned-fourth-wife-of-a-count"? Oh no she didn't! That's like calling someone "the first one naked in your swimming pool." It seems like Clifford was ultimately fooled here: At first seemingly determined to analyze Bravo's business decisions, she clearly got into Housewives spirit and took Team Frankel. So is she a "P.T.A Trendsetter" or a Grace? The daily paper gave its 20-year-old intern, James Cahalan, the assignment of hitting 30 Manhattan bars and bodegas without even a fake I.D. on him and then reporting on which ones served him. An "astonishing" seventeen of the locations, all of which received underage State Liquor Authority violations within the past year, gave Cahalan no trouble at all, either failing to card him, scanning his I.D. and shrugging, or just letting him drink despite knowing his age. Among the places he was served are the bars Cosmic Cantina, Salt Bar, Pranna, Alphabet Lounge, Crash Mansion, and Kate's Joint. Aside from these spots, mostly NYU hangouts and dives, Cahalan hit some Village bodegas, which everyone already knows would serve Mike's Hard Lemonade to a toddler. Though the reportage is fairly impressive, this "assignment" sounds more like an awesome journalistic tradition: get the overworked intern wasted and make the company pay for it! Hopefully Cahalan completed his 30-bar mission in a single sloppy night, because you know how those deadlines can be.
