Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 24 May 2010 | 5:57 am Eros out, Saif Ali Khan takes Agent Vinod to Cinemax?
Agent Vinod, the film that's all the buzz, thanks to its starcast Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, has cut all ties with Eros International. Grapevine says that budgets were an issue.
Apparently, the official financers of the film, Eros International, wanted to rework the budget of the film and cut down numbers, something that producers from Illuminati Films, Saif Ali Khan and Dinesh Vijan, were not happy about. Any compromise on the film was not acceptable to the producers. This led to disagreement and fall out between Eros and Illuminati films.
It is being said that Cinemax has now stepped in and will now be the official presenter of Agent Vinod. When we contacted co-producer Dinesh Vijan to confirm this news, he avoided commenting on the presenter of the film. "There are no budget issues. We are going ahead with the same budget we started off with and the film is being produced by Illuminati films. Any involvement of Cinemax is something I am not aware off," he said.
Agent Vinod is all set to go on floors this week and has quite a feisty itinerary to talk about. The shoot starts off in Morocco and the crew will be shooting in all the talked about European countries like Amsterdam the locales in east of Europe, coming back to Delhi eventually. The film will be directed by Sriram Raghavan.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 24 May 2010 | 5:40 am Cannes draws to an endHighlights of the Cannes film festival, which ended in France on Sunday.Source: | 24 May 2010 | 5:01 am Salim-Sulaiman to compose anthem for FIFA World Cup in SA
India has reached the global stage and we are being recognised for not just the land we come from but also for the music we make. In a feat that no Indian has achieved before, the music composer duo Salim- Sulaiman were invited to compose the anthem for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
If that wasn't enough, the duo will also open and close the football tournament in South Africa that commences on June 11 and goes on till July 11.
Adding to the plurastic sound, RnB artist Loyiso Vincent Bala who is Nelson Mandela's favourite artist and Kenian singer Eric Waninaner will perform alongside the brothers.
In the past, Salim-Sulaiman had composed the popular track 'Chak De! India' which had almost become like an anthem while the T20 matches were on. The two composers seemed visibly ecstatic with the honour to compose anthem for FIFA.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 24 May 2010 | 4:41 am With women in focus, will Bollywood hit bulls eye?

DVD DETAILS
Featuring: Bipasha Basu, Deanne Panday
Director: Shwetabh C Varma
Producer: Bipasha Basu and Atul Maru
THE DVD
Honestly, I haven't seen many workout DVDs in the past. And the very fact that I am doing a review of this DVD means that Bipasha Basu has been able to do her job well around fetching the attention of those who may or may not really be looking at getting into a fit shape. For those belonging to the former category, it is a gift of sorts because now they can compare notes around their fitness regime with a celebrity who has been known for having a great body for close to a decade now. And for the latter, the DVD could well help in making them conscious of fitness because a celebrity is endorsing the cause.
What's good about the DVD is that it doesn't stretch (no pun intended) beyond a limit. Both 'Beginners' as well as 'Advanced' versions are just 30 minutes and 40 minutes respectively which means that not much time is wasted in detailing things which may not really be the need of the hour. Bipasha along with co-trainer Deanne Panday (another fit bod here) make sure that they have viewer's attention with their toned bodies making for an attractive sight.
However, for those looking at a glamorous outing here, be warned that 'Love Yourself' is not a filmy saga in the offing. The feature stays true to it's true business, which is letting know viewers of the importance of a fit body and how it can be achieved. While many would have felt that presence of Bipasha Basu could possible have resulted in something to ogle at, it is certainly not the case.
So what one gets to see in this DVD which promises fat to fit in 60 days flat are moves likes squats, stretches, shoulder rolls, hip rolls, arm swings, chest press and crunch, military press with wide squat, shuffles, jumping jack, abs crunch, double clam with namaste, dumbbell row, cross punch, pelvic thrust, doggy kick, speed bag, football run, rear kicks and cobra. For those belonging to fitness circuits, these terms should come with a strong familiarity factor attached to them.
The set design is colourful though one would have expected it to be a little more opulent. It all seems a little too cramped for comfort and a bigger stage would have only helped the video look far more lavish. Also, the idea of Bollywood music (though optional) being played in background as Bipasha and Deanne go around with their moves is a bit of a letdown. Really, it isn't quite classy to hear 'Beedi Jalaile' during a workout session! Thankfully, from core workout perspective, there are two audio options - English and Hindi - that helps the DVD to cut across various segments of audience.
PACKAGING
'Love Yourself' comes in a very attractive and eye catchy thick paper packaging.
DURATION
The DVD's duration is 137 minutes
SPECIAL FEATURES
- Making of the DVD
- Bollywood celebrity endorsements
- Get to know your body
- Reebok Easy tone Workout
It seems unlikely that many would be interested in knowing about the making of a fitness DVD. However, for star struck audience, there is endorsement of the DVD (and also for Bipasha) coming from the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ranbir Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra and even Mahendra Singh Dhoni. There is also a section on 'get to know your body' that has text details around different parts of the body as well as some detailing on how to save one's body from injuries. However, if the signature of a popular apparels chain on the DVD jacket as well as during the play of the DVD wasn't enough, there is also a segment sponsored by it.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
- 16:9 Anamorphic Widescreen Presentation
- Subtitles - None
- Stereo
PRICE
Rs. 299/=
CONCLUSION
Don't pick up the DVD only because you are a fan of Bipasha Basu and want to have a dekko at her fit bod. However, if fitness is something that you follow regardless of the celebrity endorsing it, go for it.

Deepika Padukone and Neil Nitin Mukesh who are shooting together just can't get enough of complimenting each other.
Says Deepika, "Neil is such a well brought-up guy, absolutely impeccable in his manners. Besides being a brilliant actor he's also a great technician. I see him turning director soon. My other co-star Imran Khan in Break Ke Baad is great fun too. We shot in Delhi and bonded immediately."
Speaking of Imran, there was talk of Deepika deliberately working with Ranbir Kapoor's immediate rival after their break.
The actress flares up. "No one tells me what to do and what not to do. My personal life has nothing to do with my professional. Imran is a wonderful co-star. I like working with actors who are fun yet professional, like Akshay, Imran, Neil and Abhishek Bachchan."
Ask her about the linkup with Vijay Mallya's son and Deepika sighs, "Can't I be seen with the people I'm working with without being linked to them? Not too many people know this. But Siddharth Mallaya actually runs the whole IPL show for his father. So it was natural for me to celebrate with him when our team won a match. Anyway the IPL season is now over. So I guess that rumour will end."
Deepika is very happy about her roles so far. "Housefull was a new experience. I had to do comedy. Like Akshay Kumar I chose to do a more subtle comedy in Housefull. For me being funny doesn't mean screaming and rolling my eyes. Now I've three films that are about to be completed. Ashutosh Gowariker's Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, Pradeep Sarkar's Lafangey Parindey and Danish Aslam's Break Ke Baad. Let's see which comes next."
Apparently, Neil is so protective of Deepika that he gets tensed every time she has to perform a stunt sequence. "It's very sweet of him. But I insist on doing what I want to. Neil does get tensed up."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 24 May 2010 | 3:08 am Sophie Choudry on the cover of The Man

Dressed in white, looking mysterious yet inviting, on the cover of 'The Man' magazine's May issue, the lady has spoken at length about the yearning of an ambitious girl. Quoting her, Sophie says, "I am either working or surrounded by friends and family. But yes, every girl would like to be in a loving and fun relationship. My career is what I am most passionate about, but I would like to have someone to call up at two in the morning and say 'baby. I had a rough day' or 'let's go for a drive' or 'let's go for a coffee'. Any girl wants to do those things." Seems like you connect at some level? It seems henceforth bi-lingual films are in some financial trouble. Because Bollywood's fighters' associations now demand twice the levy on the fights and fighters participating in a bi-lingual. And if it's a 3-language film then the producer has to pay three times more levy than a one-language film.
This, the makers of Rakta Charitra which is being made simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu came to know when they were asked to deposit three times more levy than usual.
When asked about the unusual demand on the film's resources, director Ram Gopal Varma passed on the buck to the producer Sheetal Talwar who said, "It's true we were asked to pay up three times the normal levy for the fights in Rakta Charitra. The argument given was that Mani Ratnam's Raavan which is in two languages (Tamil and Hindi) had to pay twice the levy. But we argued back that in Raavan all the fights in the two languages were different since the Tamil and Hindi versions of the film star difference actors. In Rakta Charitra we have exactly the same cast in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and the fights have not been shot twice over. Only the close-ups in the two versions are different."
After a week-long fight the fighters' association has brought down the levy to twice rather than thrice the normal amount.
However, the producers of Rakta Charitra are still not willing to pay up the amount demanded, as this would entail an extra burden of Rs 50-60 lakhs on their budget.
"We're fighting it out. Let's see," Talwar ends hopefully.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 24 May 2010 | 2:46 am Woody Allen wants to meet Deepika Padukone? - Times of India

Madhur Bhandarkar has never been this furious. Usually charmed and a joyous personality, Bhandarkar is fumed by a 'news break' that took place in a tabloid that proclaimed that he was all set to begin work on the sequel of Chandni Bar. Not just was he supposed to have approached Tabu for the film, he was also said to have started making plans with the film beginning soon after his recently announced Dil to Bachcha Hai Ji.
"This is absolutely baseless and people should not speculate", says Bhandarkar who has decided that from here on, he would have none of such speculative news pieces making the rounds."
What is indeed concrete though is that Bhandarkar has no plans of making a sequel to Chandni Bar or any other film in years to come.
"I don't have any time for that. I am busy with Dil to Bachcha Hai Ji and then Heroine, something which I have always maintained. Also, I don't believe in sequels and if at all I attempt one then I would make a thorough announcement. I think I have enough new subjects in mind to be explored. Let me exhaust them first", continues Bhandarkar while still sounding disturbed by the entire state of affairs.
The piece also states that he spoke to Tabu for hours after watching Chandni Bar on TV; something which only added fuel to the rumour.
"That's unbelievable", says Bhandarkar in the exasperated tone, "My conversation must have happened 6-8 months back and all I had shared with Tabu was some nostalgia around the experience of making of Chandni Bar. Who else was there in the call to listen if we spoke anything beyond that, let aside firming up plans for our next? Please, I am attached to the actors I work with and believe in being in touch even years after I have worked with them. A social/personal conversation should not be accounted for being a business preposition in the making."
Guess this should help set the records straight and allow Bhandarkar to kick start work on his Ajay, Emraan and Omi starrer Dil to Bachcha Hai Ji which has created a stir of sorts in the industry ever since it was announced last weekend.
"I know", Bhandarkar gets a little relaxed here, "I guess we have to ignore all rumours and concentrate on some real and happening stuff now."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 24 May 2010 | 1:47 am Vikram and our bonding stopped at my bedroom door: Ash - Times of India
Source: Entertainment - Google News | 24 May 2010 | 1:41 am Karan Johar's Stepmom remake's release date yet to be finalised
When 1st October release date for the Stepmom remake was announced, a section of industry was surprised. Reason being that the date falls during 'shraadh', a time period when majority of makers stay away from releasing their films. It sounded unbelievable that a big film like Stepmom remake with Karan Johar at the helm of affairs would indeed think of arriving during 'shraddh'.
However as it has turned out, 1st October is a tentative timeline and a final call would be taken in due course of time.
"1st October is not the final date for the release of my film", assures Karan who is currently stationed in USA, "It is currently tentative and we would be in a position to talk about the new release date, if at all that turns out to be the case, pretty soon."
Siddharth Roy Kapoor, CEO, UTV Motion Pictures admits that 1st October is the date which has been pencilled in for Stepmom remake. However, he doesn't shy away from the fact that this release date is open to change.
"Currently the release date is 1st October but we along with Sony Pictures and Dharma Productions would take a joint call if the release plans change. Yes, this is a tentative date but one thing is for sure that the film will arrive in October", he confirms.
Meanwhile Karan too is sure that if the 'shraadh' period indeed falls around 1st October, he won't bring his film in.
"That's right, the film will certainly not release during 'shraadh'", he says.
Meanwhile, the title of the film is yet to be finalised. "Yeah, that's right, we are still calling it as Stepmom remake but are yet to pencil in on the final title", he informs.
The film has been in news ever since it was announced more than a year back. With an unusual and fresh pairing of Kareena Kapoor, Kajol and Arjun Rampal, the film is helmed by first timer Siddharth Malhotra.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 24 May 2010 | 1:34 am Upsets mark Cannes PalmsIn what was a real upset, the Tim Burton jury of the 63 rd Cannes Film Festival honoured the 39-year-old Thai director, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, with the top Best Picture Palm d'Or for his spooky tale of reincarnation, Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives.
