After getting tremendous response on his blog, Big B has joined the Twitter parade and the followers are just rising by the minute. Bachchan goes with twitter handle @SrBachchan. In his effervescent style, his first tweet reads, "@juniorbachchan hey baby !! I made it on twitter !!! Yeeaaaaaahhhh !! ... sorry.. just got carried away .. safe onward flight and love."
Now you can be in touch with Big B all the time, though it's yet to be seen what his average tweets would be. Though his fan "following" on twitter would be massive, Big B himself is following his son @juniorbachchan. It'll now be interesting to see if Bachchan breaks records of other superstars like SRK, Salman, Hrithik etc. as far as fan following on twitter is concerned.
For now, we can only wait and watch. Till then, Happy Tweeting Mr. BachchanSource: BollywoodHungama.com News | 18 May 2010 | 7:43 am Bare-chested Salman plus four other actors
The Mercury is rising and things are certainly getting heated up on the sets of Salman Khan's upcoming, under production, film Dabangg. Everyday he has been keeping his followers updated on the going ons. Add to his tweets are the pictures that Salman has been rampantly posting. His followers are having the time of the day as Sallu bhai entertains them with the masti on the sets.
The latest being this picture of the all the male cats going bare-chested for Sallu's picture. Where Salman is popularly known for going shirtless at the drop of the act, his love for the bare chest is certainly contagious. And wouldn't his female fans just droll on this one as Salman asks his fans to guess whose abs are those? Come on ladies this is an open invitation to gape all you like.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 18 May 2010 | 7:20 am Mani Ratnam to be honoured at the 67th Venice International Film Festival
Veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam is all set to be bestowed with the Jaeger-LeCoultre 'Glory to the Filmmaker' award at the 67th Venice International Film Festival. In recent years, the award has gone to other major world filmmakers such as Takeshi Kitano, Abbas Kiarostami, Agnes Varda, and Sylvester Stallone. This year however, Swiss watch manufacturer Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrates its six years of partnership with the Venice International Film Festival by announcing Jaeger-LeCoultre 'Glory to the Filmmaker' award.
Speaking on why they chose Mani Ratnam for this honour, Marco Mueller, Venice Film Festival director says, "Mani Ratnam used to initially make movies only in his native tongue, Tamil, but has now been one of a handful of filmmakers to successfully handle the transition to the All-India market. One of the great innovators in contemporary Indian cinema, he helped introduce the auteur concept to contemporary Bollywood. His movies display precision and poise, and have always been removed from the bombast and bluster of mass-produced regional cinema. The lavish musical numbers in his films, some of the best-tailored in Mumbai and Madras in recent years, have influenced the style of many others (as well as the design of commercials and music videos). Ratnam's most celebrated films have become part of the cinematic imagination of the sub-continent."
On the occasion of the award ceremony, the Mostra will present the festival premiere of Mani Ratnam's much-anticipated forthcoming film Raavan, attended by the director and by its cast and crew including Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, and music maestro A.R. Rahman. Raavan is produced by Madras Talkies in association with Reliance Big Pictures and distributed internationally by Reliance Big Pictures and IM Global.
"Raavan will enchant audiences with its stirring drama and entrancing musical sequences," says Marco Mueller. "We are proud to be hosting the festival premiere of this wonderful film, which will be presented at the 2010 Mostra in both the Hindi and the Tamil versions."
As in previous editions, together with the award the director will be presented with a Reverso Jaeger-LeCoultre watch, a one-of-a-kind model with a commemorative engraving.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 18 May 2010 | 7:18 am Traffic stops at Times Square for Hrithik Roshan during Kites Premiere
Hrithik Roshan proved a real and literal traffic-stopper in New York on Sunday night when all traffic was halted for him to sprint across 42nd Street to meet his fans.
Amidst heavy security bandobast at Times Square, the New York premiere of Kites concluded on Sunday evening to a roaring ovation. There were some heart- stopping moments of security hazard caused mainly by Hrithik Roshan's fan-concern when breaking all protection protocol the star made a dash across the bustling 42nd Street from the venue of the premiere to eager fans across the road.
Hrithik Roshan's considerate gesture towards fans at the Times Square venue of the Kites premiere on Sunday evening, created panic for the tense and anxious Kites team.
The story goesâ¦at around 5 in the evening when Hrithik along with his co-star Barbara Mori and wife Sussanne, Dad and Mom - Rakesh and Pinky Roshan, director Anurag Basu (with wife) and other members of the team reached the 42nd street at Times Square, he was told to wave out to hordes of Indian fans who had been standing on the other side of the super-board street since early morning waiting for a glimpse of the star.
Sanjeev Lamba of Reliance Big Pictures confirms the incident, "Hrithik did indeed dash across the 42nd Street from our red carpet to waiting fans across the road. And we aren't about crossing just any busy street at peak hour. 42nd Street is a gigantic universe. Hrithik ran across a good half a mile to get to his fans."
The elaborate security was obviously in a panic.
Says Lamba, "We had to halt all traffic on 42nd Street for Hrithik to cross. So we can finally say Hrithik Roshan is the first traffic-stopper from Bollywood to make the crossover."
Not just a dash across the busiest street to meet his fans, Hrithik and his dad also made impromptu arrangements for about 500 fans to be accommodated in an extra screen at the AMC Empire theatre.
Hours after the exhausting and exhilarating experience, Rakesh Roshan said, "What could we do? There were 400-500 of Hrithik's fans who wanted to see the film. There were women crying, girls tearing their hair and threatening to commit suicide."
In addition to the 700-seater at the AMC Empire theatre, smaller 500-seater screener was rented for extra fans at the last minute.
"We had no choice. The fans wouldn't have allowed us to have the New York premiere, if we refused. We're glad Hrithik's fans returned happy. At the after-party at the Grand Park Ville, everyone was talking about the new grammar of filmmaking in Kites."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 18 May 2010 | 7:13 am I feel old and tired: Sarah Jessica Parker

Source: Entertainment - Google News | 18 May 2010 | 3:45 am Arjun Rampal to open LAP in Mumbai; blames Indian cricketers for T- 20 failure
Arjun is the happiest person on the planet as of now. The reasons - Housefull doing well, his next film is a sci-fi film Ra.One, and him opening his club LAP in Mumbai. On the flip side, he is sad too. The reason - 'IPL after party' controversy. But first, the happy moment.
Arjun Rampal is quite excited about opening his lounge bar LAP in Mumbai. On questioning him about his ongoing plans, he said, "I'd love to open LAP here in Mumbai. LAP is doing great in Delhi and it's time it sees its inception in this city. I am looking for the right area and space and have almost confirmed one as of now. Hopefully, if I confirm the location in the next few months, you might just see LAP opening by the end of this year in Mumbai or next year. I am excited and can't wait for the launch of LAP now." With location hunting for LAP, then off to the sets for his next film Ra.One with SRK, then off to home spending time with kids and wife, then off to the gym, then some tweets, then some business meetings and so on , Rampal is the busiest man in town. But what took us by surprise is the fact that he sounded a bit dejected too when we quizzed him on his wife's name and his being dragged into the cricketing controversies. Here's what followed.
England wins the ICC T-20 World Cup last night beating the Aussies. That's past. But the match still continues here in India as the Indian cricketers are under the scanner of the BCCI. Whether it's their failure at the recent T-20 world cup or the ongoing debate and controversies about the IPL, the Indian cricketers aren't the only ones facing the heat this summer. Take IPL for instance, the organising of IPL Parties saw the who's who of the cricketing world jamming with the Bollywood celebs and got the fans to interact one on one with the cricketers and their favourite celebrities. The media, the BCCI and few of the ex-Indian cricketers are also playing the blame game with the organisers, Arjun Rampal and wife Mehr Jessia Rampal for organising IPL parties. But guess what? Rampal is clearly blaming the cricketers for being irresponsible. In the recent chat we had with him a few days ago, Rampal quotes, "I own a night club. So definitely, I'll be the one who'll be promoting a lot of parties in and out of the town. But the fact of the matter is that all the players used to get three days off before their next game. IPL is more of a carnival. Fans got closer to the players and everybody enjoyed themselves. That was the motto of such parties. I don't think it's correct to say that 'It's the parties and therefore the Indian team hasn't done well at the recent failure at the ICC World Cup T-20'. I think it's the selection of the team which was not correct. Secondly, the other players like Chris Gayle, Michael Hussey, etc who came from International teams have come to IPL parties and went on to play good innings later in the World Cup T-20. I don't think that my wife and I are to be blamed for organising parties. That's silly and just an excuse to get away. Get the game right first. We were not forcing anyone to come to the parties. If my movies don't do well, I don't blame anybody else but myself."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 18 May 2010 | 3:36 am Katrina Kaif dodges security again, goes to airport in cab alone
Katrina Kaif is increasingly becoming a security hazard to herself. In spite of the constant flow of stalkers and mobs she continues to step out fearlessly, some would say recklessly without care about repercussions.
While Salman Khan has always believed in following security measures, all efforts to convince Katrina to do the same fell on deaf ears. In fact, Katrina has always disregarded security threats. Sometime ago when hordes of young and old people had descended on her at a public gathering she had fobbed off the security arrangements made by the organizers arguing, "They love me. They can never harm me."
But her latest daredevilish disregard for all rules of self-preservation takes the cake. On Monday morning, when Katrina was required to fly to Bangalore for an event with Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina just hopped into a taxi with her hand-luggage and took off. Much to the shock and disbelief of the cabbie who had no clue about the VIP passenger he was carrying until he looked into his rear- view mirror.
While Katrina cracks up at the recollection of the moment when the cabbie spotted her in the rear, her Raajneeti crew were far from amused when they saw Katrina hop out of a cab unaccompanied (even her personal manager and constant companion came straight to the airport). Ranbir and Prakash Jha were seen soundly ticking her off for her disregard for security rules.
Katrina has been indulging in such reckless security-adventures much too often these days. According to a close friend, she takes off on her own usually accompanied by her trusted driver and no other companion just for a spin far away to drive off loneliness.
But her latest adventure-ride to the airport on her own has left Katrina's family far from amused. It has now been decided that Katrina's youngest sister Isabel who has been studying cinema in the US may cut short her acting course to join Katrina in Mumbai.
Katrina admits her family is worried about her safety. "But what's the big deal about hopping into a cab to rush to the airport? Thousands of girls do it all the time. What's there to get hyper? My driver was late because he got caught in a traffic snarl. If I waited anymore I would've missed my flight. So I waved for a cab, hopped in and zipped off."
What concerns people close to Katrina is her utter obliviousness to obvious security dangers.
Says a close friend, "Katrina doesn't realize the effect that her solitary presence in crowded places can have on people. Hopping into a cab early morning in Mumbai when there are no cops around is just not done. But she refuses to believe anyone would harm her."
Katrina's family doesn't appreciate her all-izz-well-with-the-world philosophy. They've taken serious note of her carelessness towards basic protection rules.
And her days of zipping off on her own in strangers' company are nearing an end, thanks to the timely intervention of her family.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 18 May 2010 | 3:32 am Aishwarya's a hero, Abhishek a brat: Tamil star VikramTamil superstar Vikram, who makes his Bollywood debut with Mani Ratnam's "Raavan", says co-star Aishwarya Rai was equivalent to a hero in the film as she braved wounds, fever and insect bites while shooting in the forests.Source: Entertainment News | 18 May 2010 | 3:25 am Katrina ignores security, hails local cab - NDTV.com

Here's piping hot news! Producer Vashu Bhagnani is ensuring that his son Jackky Bhagnani's second film FALTU has the biggest of names associated with it. While Jackky and Pooja Gupta will head the cast, Vashu has also roped in Angad Bedi and Chandan Roy Sanyal for pivotal roles. Besides, Vashu is in talks with Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, R. Madhavan [Maddy had acted in Vashu's REHNAA HAI TERRE DIL MEIN] and Rajendra Prasad, who had enacted the lead in QUICK GUN MURUGUN.
That's not all, for the film, directed by ace choreographer Remo, will have as many as six songs and three music pieces, all composed by upcoming composers Sachin-Jigar.
"I'd like to clarify that we haven't finalized Akshay, Riteish, Maddy and Rajendra Prasad yet. Yes, we've approached them, but till we finalize the script and make them hear their parts, we wouldn't be able to officially announce their names," Vashu tells me. Watch this space for further developments!Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 18 May 2010 | 1:22 am The months ahead will witness an erratic flow of films
The flow of film releases will get erratic and uneven in the forthcoming months. Generally, the number of releases shows an escalation from April onwards, to capitalize on the summer vacations in India, and the number of new films shows a further escalation in June, July and August. But this year will be an exception.
RAAJNEETI and RAAVAN are the only two biggies confirmed for June, while I HATE LUV STORYS, LAMHAA, ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAI and KAJRAARE are the talked-about films hitting the screens in July. Of course, expect a slew of low cost/medium range movies week after week in June and July, but there's also a strong possibility that a few weeks may pass off without any release at all.
However, the shortage of new films will be felt in August. The number of new releases and also the footfalls at multiplexes will take a dip this month. Reason: The holy month of Ramzan will begin this month. Generally, film producers avoid releasing their films during this month, since a sizable chunk of movie-going audience stays away from movies.
But September promises to be bountiful, with Anees Bazmee's NO PROBLEM, Priyadarshan's AAKROSH, Arbaaz Khan's home-production DABANGG and UTV's animation film ARJUN arriving on Eid. In fact, Mukesh Bhatt was keen to bring the Emraan Hashmi starrer CROOK in August, but he wants to avoid the rush during the Eid week.
Speaking from Melbourne, where he's shooting for CROOK, Mukesh has now decided to bring the film on 24th September, but with the Ranbir-Priyanka starrer ANJAANA ANJAANI also arriving on this date, there is a possibility that one of them would shift his film to a latter date.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 18 May 2010 | 1:20 am Film fest celebrating Indo-China relations beginsA six-day Chinese Film Festival marking the diamond jubilee celebrations of the bilateral relations between India and China began in the capital on Monday night.Source: Entertainment News | 18 May 2010 | 1:17 am Raajneeti Music ReviewEXPECTATIONSThe very fact that Raajneeti has come up with a musical score is a surprise in itself. Neil Nitin Mukesh has been missing in action since he delivered knock out performances in New York and Jail last year. However the actor would be seen this year in some interesting films such as Yash Raj Films' Lafangey Parindey and Vishal Bhardwaj's Saat Khoon Maaf.
Neil is paired opposite the gorgeous Deepika Padukone in Lafangey Parindey and while the shooting of this film has proved to be quite a gruelling experience for Neil, he was in for a pleasant surprise when he completed his shoot a couple of days ago. Neil was gifted the latest prized possession among B-town celebs, 'The iPad' by none other than director Pradeep Sarkar for completing the film. Neil, who is known to be quite a gadget and gizmo freak, was thrilled on receiving this new beauty of a device. He even excitedly tweeted about the same, "'MY PAD'. My director Mr. Pradeep Sarkar gifted me the "Ipad" on completing 'Lafangey Parindey' yesterday"
However in case you wondering if Dada is more partial towards Neil than Deepika, you couldn't be further from the truth for the very next day, he even gifted his leading lady an iPad. Deepika tweeted about her new gadget, "Pradeep Sarkar gifted me the iPad on completing Lafangey...yyiiipppeeee!! my new toy!!"
Well we wonder what Pradeep Da would gift Neil and Deepika if Lafangey Parindey manages to hit the bulls-eye at the B.O. Any guesses?Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 17 May 2010 | 9:47 am Mallika Sherawat promotes Hisss with snakesThe Bollywood actress, who plays a snake-woman in her forthcoming film Hisss, brought real snakes to unveil the film at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival. Mallika, who's seen more at international events these days, made her presence felt in a rather sensational way at the Cannes Film Festival yesterday.
In what can be termed as a novel way to promote her upcoming film Hissss, Mallika made heads turn as she did a special photo-shoot with a live snake. Mallika shared this information with her millions of fans on popular social networking site Twitter. If success starts from the alphabet 'S', Rakesh Roshan would deny it hands down. For him though, 'K' has always been the word which would define success ever since his Khudgarz days. Thanks to a fan who wrote a letter to Rakesh while he was an actor and suggested him to make films as a producer and a director starting with 'K'. There was no looking back for Roshan after he read the letter. Then followed hits and only hits, blockbusters and only blockbusters and Hrithik Roshan and only Hrithik Roshan. With his new film Kites being the talk of the town, Rakesh relishes some good memories about the alphabet 'K', talks about his star son, his conviction in Anurag Basu, the new find Barbara Mori, the talented Kangna Ranaut and why Bollywood is still a small pond where our industry is happy being in. All this with UK's Harrow Observer columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent - Devansh Patel. Oh! I forgot something...and his big quote - "I can vouch for Kites that not a single film in India is made up to the standard of this film." (V)ouch!
Hrithik Roshan - The star son
Hrithik's goal is not to cross over and do Hollywood films. No. That is not his goal. Our goal is to show to the world market that India can make good films too because we too have good actors and good technicians. If we succeed in Kites, and if there is an offer for Hrithik from the West, he isn't going to leave India and settle down there. He might do one film to work with some better filmmakers out there. It will be a big pride for me and my family if Hrithik does a Hollywood film and with Kites, I am pushing him into the world market.
Kites was first planned to be directed by me. I happened to be in some of the award functions and four names popped up every time I saw the best film categories - Munnabhai, Rang De Basanti, Krissh and Gangster. But somehow I was a little curious to know why a film like Gangster would fit into such nominations. So I saw the film and loved it. I was completely blown by Anurag Basu's direction. He deserves a good break. I called him and asked him, "I want Hrithik to work with you. Have you got any good story?" Anurag said, "No Rakeshji. I make small films with small budgets. With Hrithik, I'll need a bigger canvas." Seeing his honesty, I told him, "I have a story, and if it touches you, and you think that you will do full justice to the film, then I want you to direct it." Anurag wasn't sure if I was willing to give him Kites to direct. After a month, Anurag came back with his own thoughts and a few changes and I was convinced that he will be the man to direct Kites.
Canvas
There are two things. When I was making Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, I could've shot the same thing in Madh Island too. But I didn't. The content would've been the same but what about the canvas? Canvas is not that I'm putting thousand dancers instead of ten dancers. That's throwing away money. If it's a desert, it has to be different. We have seen the Thar desert, but what if we get the desert from Mexico. That stays in your mind. The ambience has a local flavour.
Barbara Mori
We were looking out for a lot of girls who could speak Spanish. We were sure that we didn't want any Indian actress because it would look fake. So I went to Los Angeles and met two to three actresses out there. But then I thought, I wouldn't be comfortable to make Kites with such big names too. A friend of mine called me on my return to Mumbai and urged me to watch a Spanish film. There was Barbara Mori in the film. In the very first instinct, I liked her. She had to be my heroine. I showed it to Anurag and he too approved of her. Even Hrithik said, "This is the girl for Kites." I flew from Mumbai to Los Angeles with Anurag Basu and she flew down from Mexico to Los Angeles. We narrated the script to her. She liked it initially. What we wanted was right in front of us. She didn't know English at all and that's what we wanted. An hour's narration took me four hours to narrate to Barbara Mori. She was a keen listener and had tears in her eyes in-between the narration. Then she would laugh. Barbara immediately said 'Yes' to Kites.
Bankable
I am thankful to Kangna Ranaut for accepting the role in Kites. She is a very honest girl, a thorough professional and would come up to me and say, "Rakeshji, Anurag ko bulao. Kya karna hain, kaise karna hain." (Rakesh, please call Anurag and tell me what am I to do and how) Kangna's English accent isn't good. So we kept a tutor for her as her role is of a girl born and brought up in the United States of America. Kangna religiously learned how to speak English with an American accent.
Bollywood - A small pond
Our Indian Film Industry has become stagnant. We don't want to grow. We want to use the same comedy formula in all our films, the same thriller angle in all our films. Yes, there are some good films coming out since a few years like Dev D, Love Sex Aur Dhoka, etc which are a good start. We are trying to change lanes and that's very promising. But maybe we are not getting the success we want. Not to forget, we are changing the audiences mind too. If we give them all bikini girls, those days are gone.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 17 May 2010 | 5:01 am IIFA Awards 2010 announces Technical Awards winnersBest Screenplay Abhijat Joshi, Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra (3 Idiots) Best Cinematography C.K. The Garam Masala and Kushti actress warns that horses and city traffic are a dangerous mix.
Nargise Bagheri stripped down Lady Godiva-style for a leading role in a stunning new ad for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India, hoping to draw attention to the plight of horses who are used to pull carts that bear heavy loads or people seeking "joyrides". In the ad, Bagheri - covered only by her long hair - poses on a dark "horse" next to the words "Don't Get Taken for a Ride, Horse-Drawn Carts Are Cruel". By appearing in the ad, Bagheri seeks to warn potential tonga and victoria passengers that these joyrides are joyless for the horses and potentially dangerous for both riders and horses.
"Horse carts are cruel and outdated and should be relegated to the history books", says Bagheri. "In the city, the mix of horses and traffic can make for a lethal combination for horses and passengers."
