Last Night on Late Night: Betty White Looks Forward to Being Manhandled

It’s been a rough week in the news, what with vast oil spills, economic worries, and now this. Thankfully, Betty White was on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, seeking advice from the SNL veteran. He tells her not to worry, that things get crazy between sketches, what with people putting on wigs and taking your clothes off. “It’s been a long time since I’ve been manhandled,” White says to a giggling Fallon, “I’m looking forward to it.” On Jimmy Kimmel Live, 30 Rock’s Jack McBrayer slash Kenneth-the-Page reveals his deepest fear: Twittering. Then, lest we forget, some pretty bad stuff happened today, as NBC’s news anchor Brian Williams chronicles to David Letterman. “If I weren’t so close to this, I wouldn’t leave my house,” he says, quoting Fox News’ Neil Cavuto. Pretty sunny stuff. Then, Jon Stewart demonstrates the new containment dome via some Diet Coke, a Mentos, and a terra cotta pot on a fishing pole. And just when you thought all of late night was fear and Twitter, Jay Leno mercifully lightens the mood with a little Mother’s Day gifting humor. Watch our compilation to see what you missed.

Industry Roundup: Wiig To Play Sad Clown, The Rock May Join Fast 5

Wiigin' Out: Saturday Night Live’s Kristen Wiig is “using her own money” to option Clown Girl, a 2007 novel by Monica Drake. Wiig will adapt the book for the big screen and play the leading role of Nita, a “clown in crisis” who works under the name Sniffles the Clown. She’s hopelessly in love with a man who used her to finance his clown college tuition and she struggles to resist... the “potentially lucrative” clown fetishist prostitution trade. So another one of these indie clown fetishist movies, huh? [Deadline]

Need for Speed: Deadline is reporting that Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a. The Rock, is “eying a starring role” in Fast & Furious 5. Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are on board as fugitives on the run in the film, and The Rock would play a character on the “right side of the law.” So if you're one of those people always griping about how this franchise just doesn't have enough testosterone, you should be pleased. [Deadline]

Steel & Four For Keamy: Kevin Durand has been cast in the role of the villain in the upcoming alien flick I Am Number Four and is also in talks to join Hugh Jackman in Real Steel. It would seem Durand, best known for his role as Lost’s Keamy, could very well be finding himself on next year’s iteration of the villains flow chart. [Variety]

Christopher Goes Horror: The Sopranos' Michael Imperioli will play the leading role in Richard Ledes’ horror film Foreclosure, which takes place in a bleak neighborhood and unravels amidst the “real-life context of the mortgage crisis where so many homes are bank-owned.” Sounds like some fun escapist fare! [HR]

Antony and the Surprisingly Long Book: Antony and the Johnsons will be following up 2009's The Crying Light with new album Swanlights, due October 6 in the U.S. A special edition of the album accompanied by a 144-page (!) book - featuring paintings, collages, photography and writing - will also be available, for those of you Antony completists. [Pitchfork]

Raving: Lifetime has given the green light to Bond of Silence, an original movie which will star Kim Raver (Lipstick Jungle, Grey’s Anatomy). Inspired by a true story (of course), Silence will follow a widow who looks into the death of her husband who was”mysteriously” murdered while trying to stop a "wild" teenage New Year’s Eve house party. Teens everywhere will undoubtedly be surreptitiously deleting this from their parents' DVRs before they get a chance to watch it. [Deadline]

Senate Votes Against Amendment Designed To End 'Too Big To Fail'

Shelby.

The Senate voted against breaking up the major Wall Street banks tonight - by a 61-33 vote. The amendment, touted as a way to end the notion of "Too Big To Fail," would have required the six largest banks to be scaled down in size and capped so that their individual failures wouldn’t bring down the entire system. No bank would have been able to have more than 10 percent of the total amount of insured deposits - and there would have been “a limit placed on liabilities of a single bank to two percent of GDP.” Three Republicans - Alabama's Richard Shelby, Oklahoma's Tom Coburn and Nevada's John Ensign - voted with 30 Democrats in support of the provision.

"This is certainly a defeat for those who are concerned about the dangers of financial concentration in this country," Delaware Democratic Sen. Ted Kaufman, one of the co-sponsors of the bill, said after the vote. "Some causes are worth fighting for, and for me, the concern about the risks 'too big to fail' banks pose to the American economy and people is deep and profound given the economic tragedy millions of American have endured."

Though Obama’s administration hadn’t publicly opposed the amendment, the president’s top economic advisers hadn't supported this method of breaking up the megabanks.

E. Coli Outbreak Leads to Lettuce Recall in 25 States

Twenty-five states, including New York, have recalled romaine lettuce after an E. coli outbreak possibly linked to contaminated lettuce has caused at least 19 people in Ohio, New York and Michigan to become sick, twelve of whom were hospitalized and 3 with life-threatening symptoms. And since Arizona definitely needed some more reasons to be antagonized by the rest of the country right now, the FDA says it is focusing its investigation on lettuce grown in that state as a potential source of the outbreak. While Top Actresses Battle for Tattoo Role, Pitt Offered Male Lead

Seemingly every prominent young actress is aiming for the coveted leading role in Sony’s upcoming The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, directed by David Fincher. The film, planned as the first of a three-movie franchise and based on Swedish author Stieg Larsson’s books, has Hollywood’s most buzzed about begging for the part of Lisbeth Salander: Carey Mulligan took the film’s screenwriter Steve Zallian out to lunch, and Ellen Page wrote a “heartfelt note” to producer Scott Rudin. Additionally, Kristen Stewart, Mia Wasikowska, Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway, Olivia Thirlby, and Scarlett Johansson are all reportedly “circling” the part. However, they all may be out of luck, as Fincher is considering going with an unknown actress for the role, Deadline says, and Sony thinks the material is strong enough that it “doesn’t need” a big-name actress. However, perplexingly, apparently the studio doesn't think the material precludes the need for a big-name male lead - Sony has offered that part to Brad Pitt.

Fox Plans Planet of the Apes Prequel

Bucking the sequels trend, Twentieth Century Fox officially announced today that they are developing a prequel for their Planet of the Apes franchise, a “contemporary origin story” called Rise of the Apes, due in theaters June 24, 2011, directed by Rupert Wyatt (The Escapist) from a script by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa. The visual effects team will be using Avatar-style technologies to create “photo-realistic apes” instead of costumed actors. And if they're looking for a "prequel version" of 2001's Apes star Mark Wahlberg, we have a hunch Taylor Lautner may be getting a call soon.

Shahzad Says He Was "Inspired" By Militant Cleric

Faisal Shahzad has said that he “drew inspiration” from Anwar al-Awlaki, a 39-year-old Yemeni-American cleric who the Times calls “perhaps the most prominent English-speaking advocate of violent jihad against the United States.” Awlaki, who is currently in hiding in Yemen, was placed on the CIA’s hit list earlier this year, the first American citizen whose killing the Obama administration has authorized. Awlaki has posted a number of English-language lectures and writings online which have come up in terrorism investigations in the U.S., Britain and Canada - and, in two cases, he was said to have spoken directly with the individual accused of attacking. “[Shahzad] listened to [Awlaki], and he did it,” an American official close to the investigation said of the Times Square car bomb attempt, according to the Times. It is unclear at this point if Shahzad ever met with or communicated directly with Awlaki, or if the "inspiration" came from the online materials alone.

Joe Bruno Receives Two-Year Prison Sentence

Former Republican Senate majority leader Joe Bruno - once a New York political powerhouse - was sentenced to two years in prison today on two federal fraud counts. Bruno, 81, was convicted on December 7 for using his legislative office to help a businessman, who paid him both as a consultant and in a race horse partnership. Considering prosecutors had been looking for Bruno to be locked up for eight years, this news isn’t as bad as it could have been for the 13-year state senator. Additionally, Bruno will remain free until the Supreme Court rules on the constitutionality of the law used to convict him - meaning there is a chance that the case could end up in no jail time for Bruno. Perhaps this possibility is what led him to say “It’ll be all right, it'll be fine," after the sentencing.

Goldman Stays 'Chill' As Market Crashes

"I went to lunch and the market dropped 800 points. People were pretty chill and like, 'Oh, it's just some program trading thing'... [The] Citi rumor spread here before I started seeing it hit the news, because people were talking to clients on trading desks who were all hearing it too." - a source in Goldman's investment management, to the New York Observer, in regards to today's crash. Meanwhile, Citi is denying reports that one of their traders may have instigated the crash: "We have not found any info that would lead us to believe we were involved in a technical error," Armando Diaz, Citi’s U.S. Head of Franchise Trading, said. Kindred: The Embraced Slighted, As the CW Opts to Re-Air Moonlight Instead

The CW will be re-airing episodes of a show CBS canceled back in 2008, because that show contains vampires. All 16 episodes of Moonlight, starring The Back-Up Plan’s Alex O’Loughlin (soon to be of Hawaii Five-O), will be re-broadcast this summer after reruns of The Vampire Diaries. But if The CW is looking for vampire dramas to sate their vampire besotted audience, we think they picked the wrong show. No, we're not pushing for Blade: The Series (even though it starred Sticky Fingaz!), but Fox's Kindred:The Embraced, which was canceled in 1996, after only eight episodes. Consider, it was a mix of “The Godfather and Melrose Place," starred Gossip Girl's Kelly Rutherford, Thomas C. Howell, and that chick from Army Wives, and, most importantly, was made by Aaron Spelling. CW, please look into this: You don't want to be caught sleeping on perfectly air-able vampire shows canceled for good reasons.

Rick Owens Declined to Attend the Met Gala

If anyone is too cool for anything, it's Rick Owens. He was invited to go to the Met gala but decided not to go for "reasons he’d rather not discuss," though he did go to Mick Jagger and L'Wren Scott's after-party. He's only been to New York two times in the last seven years (he likes to stay close to Paris, his home base) but he still gets recognized in Soho — the ultimate in New York cred, where shoppers would probably rather step on a piece of glass:

“It surprised me because I usually consider myself pretty obscure. I get it if I’m in Soho. I mean, people are really into fashion and stuff. But even so, I mean I was just kind of surprised. Maybe I’m not quite that obscure anymore.”

And though he may eschew mainstream balls, he won't eschew mainstream attention:

“I love being commercial. I love making banal everyday things with my particular aesthetic. I almost feel like it’s corruption.”

He might be the only designer we'd beg to never do a Target line.

Mark Sanchez Is Not Dating Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Everybody

Ever since the pair co-hosted an event at the Tribeca Film Festival (after which publicists giddily sent out e-mails noting their "closeness") and went on a Broadway date, everybody's assumed Mark Sanchez and Jamie-Lynn Sigler are dating. Because if a New York celebrity is seen twice with another New York celebrity, something's up! Well, Sanchez is having none of it. "I met her at an event at the Tribeca Film Festival, and we were both compensated for being there and both happened to be at the same place," Sanchez told radio stations KLAC in Los Angeles. "So they took all these pictures of us watching the video, kind of doing what we were supposed to do so it looked like we were awfully close. But yeah, she's a sweetheart, we've hung out across New York. She's a great girl but I mean, she could probably do much better than me."

Don't you say that, Mark. Don't you say that. Nobody could do better than you.

Loyal Followers Turn on Sarah Palin Over Endorsement

It's usually difficult to find a more Palin-friendly place than the comment threads for Sarah Palin's own Facebook notes (standard message: "Go get 'em Sarah!"), but today, Palin's Facebook page is full of dismay, disenchantment, and even some disgust. It's all because Palin endorsed former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly "Demon Sheep" Fiorina over the more conservative Chuck DeVore in California's Republican Senate primary. For Palin's followers this unconscionable lapse in judgment was not an isolated incident — her previous endorsement of John McCain was not widely appreciated by the anti-establishment Tea Party crowd. But that was at least understandable, McCain having saved Palin from a soul-crushing life of low-paying gubernatorial drudgery. This endorsement, however, will not stand. Just take a look at some of these sample comments (FYI: "RINO" stands for "Republican in Name Only." It is an insult applied to moderates.):

"Sarah! You got sucked into the drain! The crapper your fans call Washington, D.C. and the likes of folks like them. We will throw you a life vest and pray you climb out."

"Sarah ... Carley Fiorina supports CAP N TRADE and the bank bailouts. What were you thinking?"

"Sorry Sarah YOUR WRONG !!! I will not support Carly. Sarah I thought you were supporting True Conservatives. Why are you supporting RHINO's LIKE MCCAIN AND CARLY. I could let you go on McCain, because you admire him for his service, but i can't let you go on this. This is a Bad Choice and it looks like your becoming part of the establishment."

"Sarah, you have been a great voice for conservatives but on this one you have failed to do your homework."

"Dislike. One more RINO endorsement, and I"m out."

"Sarah, you are looking absolutely schizophrenic. Say one thing do another. Are you a Constitutional conservative or not? You cant support Fiorina/big business/talks good but a big business rino. I will not support anyone but Chuck Devore. You are quickly losing credibility with your followers. McCain I could buy, only because of prior committments, Fiorina NOT!"

"Did Sarah sell her endorsement? Did McCain called in some favors? She is too loyal to McCain and the McCainiettes. We don't need more RINOs in the Senate. I don't understand why she wouldn't endorse the real conservative Devore."

"HUGE MISTAKE!!!!! You have lost credibility with many conservative groups in CA with that one!!!! All conservative groups are backing Chuck DeVore. We gave you a pass on McCain. Not this time."

"Your cred is going down. Research, read and get to know Chuck. Carly is no conservative. Walk the talk."

The backlash has gotten intense enough for Palin to add an update to her original endorsement.

I’d like to add a few things about my Carly endorsement because some reaction right out of the chute calls for more information:

Carly has been endorsed by the National Right to Life, the California Pro-Life Council, and the Susan B. Anthony List. She is pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, pro-military, and pro-strict border security and against amnesty. She is against Obamacare and will vote to repeal it and prevent the government takeover of private companies and industries. Carly is also a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. Like me, she is a member of the NRA, has a 100% NRA rating, and she and her husband are gun owners. She is pro-energy development and believes as I do in an all-of-the-above approach to energy independence. She is against cap and tax. And most importantly, Carly is the only conservative in the race who can beat Barbara Boxer. That’s no RINO. That’s a winner.

Stay tuned, this is only going to get better.

Let’s shake it up in California! (Updated) [Sarah Palin/Facebook]

Party Lines Slideshow: Andy Samberg, Prince, Judd Apatow, and More at the Time 100 Gala

At the Time 100 gala, while other reporters were wasting their time with Bill Clinton and Sarah Palin, we got right down to business. Hey, Andy Samberg, tell us how rehearsals for this weekend's Betty White–hosted SNL are going! "Smashingly. She’s phenomenal." We pushed for more: Even though she won't take her clothes off? "I want to point out that we never ask anyone to do nudity. I feel like everyone’s made a big deal about that. The show’s been on for 35, now 36 years — it’s not a pornographic show. It’s a late-night comedy. It’s not Screw magazine." And what of Time listing Rue McClanahan as one of the least influential people of 2010 because Betty White has usurped all the attention? Here, Samberg's pal Seth Meyers had to step in. "I recommend Time go get some Golden Girls DVDs and watch Rue McClanahan take it to school." See celebrities saying more amusing things in our Party Lines slideshow.

On the Road Finally Gets on the Road

The long-gestating adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s On the Road, which has been in the works since at least 1980, when Francis Ford Coppola bought the film rights, is finally, officially happening. The Motorcycle Diaries' Walter Salles will direct, with Garrett Hedlund, soon to be of Tron, playing Neal Cassady stand-in Dean Moriarty, Control’s Sam Riley playing Sal Paradise, the Kerouac part, and Kristen Stewart playing Mary Lou, Moriarty’s on-again-off-again wife (something she actually cares about for a change). What are the chances the film will include the scene where these three people get naked in a car? [THR]

Tommy Tune Selling Penthouse Loft

The Web listing for the 1,300-square-foot apartment on Park Avenue South touts the place as a “CELEBRITY PENTHOUSE LOFT FOR SALE.” And that it is: The owner is Tony Award–winning actor-dancer-singer-choreographer Tommy Tune. The space is certainly theatrical, with high ceilings, a sleek, double-sided fireplace, Moroccan frette work, and azure floors, which Tune, who just decamped to an East Fifties apartment he bought in 2007 for $1.29 million, says he already misses. Plus, he said, “the bathroom is a work of art. I will never have a bathroom like that again.” So why did he move? His dog, christened Little Shubert (after the theater), needs an easily accessible outdoor space. The Park Avenue South apartment has a roof deck, but it’s only reachable via a spiral staircase. The apartment’s on the market for $2.35 million with brokers Sheryl Siegel and Cynthia Cincotti at Prudential Douglas Elliman. As for Tune, he’s hard at work on a show celebrating his 50th anniversary in show business. “Hopefully, it will come to New York soon,” he says.

YOU GUYS, FOR REAL: Is Justin Bieber a Nazi?

True story: Sometime last fall, I was set to make an appearance on It’s On with Alexa Chung. And as I was walking from the dressing room to the set, I passed a small ventriloquist’s dummy propped up on a chair, dressed in a tiny, custom-made suit, and surrounded by a gaggle of primpers. I thought “Hmm, maybe they brought Paul Winchell back from the dead.” (Famous ventriloquist). Then I went about my business.

Well, folks, that little wooden man was actually mega-childlebrity Justin Bieber. And while I didn’t know much about him back then, today I know all too much about him. And the more I learn, the more I start to wonder: Is Justin Bieber a Nazi? Allow us to present our case to you here:

Point #1: He greets his fans with a “Heil, How Are You?”

Point #2: He plays stupid when it comes to the word “German,” as only a paranoid Nazi could:

Point #3: His Twitter Defense speaks for Jewself:

Let us consult with our favorite Jewman to see what he thinks about this mix-up:

Jewman’s face says all. We’re just happy they didn’t ask Bieber if he enjoys “Flying Kites.”

Point #4: Die Dame denn Protest zu viel

(The lady doth protest too much)… he speaks German. OK, he can count in German. Here are 10 more reasons he might be a Nazi:

Fair enough, this point doesn’t hold that much water, mainly because our favorite MTV VJs ever, Joko ist Klaas, also speak German and we’re 99.9 percent sure they aren’t Nazis. Moving along.

IN CONCLUSION: Do we need an in conclusion??? It seems preettttty obbbbbbbvious* that this kid is a Nazi. What do you guys think? Beliebers, are you with me??

This Year’s Met Gala Raised Almost Twice As Much Money As Last Year’s

Oh look, it's like the wedding of our dreams!

Now we know the economy is looking up: The Met Gala on Monday night raised $9 million, which is the most the Gala's ever raised, and almost twice as much as the $5.4 million raised last year. It's funny, because though last year's decorations for the model-themed ball were extravagant, and even included a zebra carpet, this year's ball wasn't supposed to look as excessive, though deep down inside it was all along. The results seem incongruous with having Gap as a sponsor. Maybe no one would have cared if Vogue had aligned with an American label that made expensive clothes. We wonder how long their new high-low philosophy will stick around before they go back to just being ... high.

Report: Stock-Market Plunge May Have Been Caused by Idiot Citigroup Trader

This guy resents being affiliated with the errant trader.

So today's big market drop? The one that had analysts tearing out their hair and traders rending their garments and economists moaning about how it was all because of Greece, Europe, there would be a Domino effect, we would all be doomed? Yeah. It might have just been an oopsie, CNBC reports.

According to multiple sources, a trader entered a "b" for billion instead of an "m" for million in a trade possibly involving Procter & Gamble, a component in the Dow.

What bank is responsible for this illiterate manipulator of worldwide markets, you ask, knowing full well the answer:

Sources tell CNBC the firm in question that handled the erroneous trade is Citigroup. The bank said it has no evidence of a bad trade but is investigating the situation

Oil Slick Reaches Islands Off Louisiana

The Coast Guard is reporting that oil slick from the massive and ongoing BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has washed ashore on islands not far off the coast of Louisiana. So far, the pollution from the spill that's reached American shores is "largely just sheen, there is no evidence of medium or heavy oil," says a spokeswoman. "This is the first confirmation that Unified Command has received of oil on a shoreline," Connie Terrell explained. "We have teams that have confirmed oil on the beach, at the south end of the Chandeleur Islands, at Freemason Island." Never heard of it? ANTM Recap: André Leon Talley Finds Himself at a Loss for Words

Nigel Barker has seemed to resent André Leon Talley since he took his throne — and all the thunder — on the ANTM judging panel. But this week Talley kindly gave Nigel room to speak and reclaim the spotlight he once enjoyed. "I think it’s pretty," he says of one photo. "I don’t think it’s horrible. Um, but it takes a lot for me to be at a loss for words. Help me, Nigel." And then Nigel jumps in, graciously reciting a critique you know he'd been thinking of for at least two days. But Nigel will never have dreckitude. When Talley doesn't know what to say, he should just say that over and over again or start talking like an opera singer, which is what Tyra does to make her analyses (and self) seem deeper. See the rest of ALT's highlights from this week in the video.

American Apparel Defends Against Allegations That It Hires Real Models

One of the biggest things that helped American Apparel levitate its image from just hipster to sexy hipster is its non-model policy. The company has proclaimed for years in publications around the world that it does not hire models for its ads, but rather hires normal people or American Apparel employees to strip down and contort themselves into awkward positions for the sake of selling awkward clothing. Heightening their image of realness, they don't use professional makeup artists, stylists (though there's often not a whole lot to style), or airbrushing. However, Jezebel reports that "some of [the women in American Apparel ads] are definitely models. Professional models. Represented by agencies." Jezebel cites Zanita Whittington, a five-foot-eleven-inch professional Australian model who was recently confirmed for an American Apparel gig.

American Apparel has not taken too kindly to Jezebel's accusations of their "lies," and sent us a statement from their creative director, Iris Alonzo:

I'd say that 95% of the people we shoot have never been professionally photographed before, and approximately 50% of those people work for the company in some capacity. I'm excited to work with someone like Zanita, who we found through her blog and whose self-portraits we recently featured in our collaboration with LOOKBOOK.nu. She may be a professional model, but I think she's making more waves with her photography and styling and that's what we'll focus on when we collaborate. In the same vein, I was excited to shoot Martine, a fashion marketing assistant who works at our Los Angeles headquarters, and C Diamond, a retail backstock employee, because their personal style and energy resonates with the brand. What's most important to us is that our photographs and advertisements capture our garments and models as they naturally are.

Our $50/hour flat rate for modeling means we don't have agents knocking on our door too often and we like it that way. Many American Apparel models work with us because they support our company or appreciate our aesthetic, or better yet, they are employees who have helped build the company into what it is today. To me, this is a big part of the reason American Apparel images evoke the emotions that they do.

Even if American Apparel's ads were lies and they did use real models like most fashion companies, what in fashion isn't a lie? Fashion is a business of lying. Getting dressed could be called a lie too. Spanx away a bulge, conceal a blemish, shave away the pit hair, wear contacts instead of glasses. Kelly Cutrone once said, in one of her wisest moments, "We’re all hookers." Maybe all of us with clothes, shaving cream, and a makeup bag are liars, too!

Mad Men Season Four Makes Me Want To Be Jon Hamm’s Seasoned Whore

Photos of Jon Hamm shooting the fourth season of Mad Men have helped remind me how I want to be the cherry and pineapple slice on top uh hee glaze. (Gross.)

Where was I? Ah yes, R-ing Jon Hamm. Respecting him, relax. What an actor, am I right ladies and all straight gentleman who wouldn’t even need to be drunk to let some frat boy initiation sex rituals take place with this man? Of course I’m right.

We’ve been without our Mad Men for months now, trying to fill our barely legal void with less sophisticated TV offerings, like Celebrity Apprentice and Ken Burns’ Glee. But as these photos of Hamm giving us a taste of his Manteets Roadshow prove, our whiskey tumblers are half full… with desire.

Season 4 of Mad Men, you might be premiering in late July, but until then, we will have to do with giant, Vigo-sized canvases of the below photos hung on our ceilings.

Bill & Ted & Wayne & Garth

Wait. Wait. Just hold on one GD second. Who are these people Ross and Ross? Because they have to stop ENTERING MY BRAIN and stealing my mind thoughts. This is the exact same debate I’ve had with people (myself) for just so long. And they’ve put it on paper like a couple of GENIUSES. It’s about which is the better movie: Wayne’s World or Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. My personal debate is slightly different, it’s more like which character I would actually want to be. Probably Bill. Because he’s not threatened with military school. Then again, he’s not Keanu Reeves. I’ll never settle on a real answer. I do know that I love both of these movies equally. I just really appreciate two dudes taking the time to hash it out. Just rap about it. Because what are we going to talk about? Politics? Oil? No thank you!

Don’t click on the link below if you don’t care about Wayne’s World or Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. But if you’re the sort of person who wonders where Alex Winter went, read on. (This doesn’t answer the question of where Alex Winter is, it’s just if you’re that sort of person). Also, sorry for the creepy picture above. But real or no, it’s pretty amazing.

Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure v Wayne’s World: Metro Film Fight Club

P.S. I’d really enjoy a frank, honest debate of Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey Vs. Wayne’s World 2

Ellen Apologizes For Extremely Over-The-Line iPhone Commercial Parody

Ellen DeGeneres recently did a fake iPhone commercial on her show that apparently didn’t make the people at Apple too happle (happy), and in response to Apple being upset, Ellen issued a completely straightfaced apology the next day and went on about how much she genuinely loves the iPhone and all other Apple products.

Completely straightfaced apology? It must’ve been a pretty mean parody, huh? Let’s watch Ellen’s commercial and apology to see what made Apple so sour (playing with words!):

…That was it? THAT made the people at Apple upset? A Fake iPhone commercial, three years after the iPhone was released and three years minus a month after people stopped doing iPhone commercial parodies when ten trillion iPhones have already been sold? That seriously merited an apology?

An apology from APPLE, no less. I thought Apple was supposed to be all, “We’re so cool and laid back, we love jokes and wear t-shirts to work and our cafeteria serves beach balls and our boss is a Frisbee! If someone very lightly parodied us, we’d be like ‘HAHA we love that joke, keep ‘em comin’ cause we’re so cool and bouncing bouncy balls off our office walls!’”

Good thing she didn’t take a shot at Google, she might be frickin’ dead this morning.

Why We Love Courtney Love (In Bed)

Courtney Love has this to say about why she’s a demon in the sack (My words. Sorry):

“Because I was never pretty. Pretty girls just lie there. Us girls who grew up a little more homely have to try a lot harder. That’s why pretty girls never threaten me — it’s like, yeah, you want to take me on? Take me on. Go for it.”

Wait, like, take on Courtney Love in bed? Are we battling at the same time or is this like a tag team situation? Because for SURE that is how I will meet my end. If I ever wind up in a threesome with Courtney Love, that is how I will die. If I ever go out for the night and I’m like, “I’m just meeting up with Courtney Love and some dudes,” know that if you get a call in the morning saying that I am dead, is was definitely because Courtney Love killed me in bed during some sort of sex competition. Don’t press charges or anything, I mean, I wouldn’t have it any other way, but just know the truth. By the way, I’m not saying that I’m prettier than Courtney Love. Not at all. I’m just saying that there is a chance that she would force me to “take her on” and I wouldn’t be able to say no.

“As the World Turns” Remains TV’s Greatest Gaytime Soap

As the World Turns seems to be spinning out of control as writer’s scramble to get their scripts finished before the show’s upcoming series finale. The solution? Just script some hot man on man makeouts, in this case, between the show’s g-couple Luke and Noah.

As ONTD points out, the show’s first gay kiss, aired in 2007, was conservative by comparison. 3 years later and pink slip in hand, the show’s writers figure they may as well go balls out, and have brought us this glorious moment in stay-at-home-mom paradise.
