"I don't have egos; I don't indulge into playing any games" - Arjun Rampal

Arjun Rampal For someone who was called teakwood for at least half a decade before seeing some acclaim coming his way, Arjun Rampal indeed has come a long way. It is difficult to believe that the man, who was considered gawky by quite a few during his initial days of Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat and Deewanapan, would one day rise up to the highest pedestal and turn out to be recipient of awards at the National level. Today, there is a definite commercial value attached to his name as well, so much so that his Housefull director Sajid has pitched him as one of the three leading men in his family entertainer. Joginder Tuteja catches up with the man who has seen a lot in his decade long career so far and is expected to see a new dimension in his career post the release of Housefull. Arjun, since Housefull is your first major comedy film per se, it must have been a new experience for you to try out something that you had not done before. So are we looking at a hilarious riotous comic outing ahead? This film is definitely going to have you in splits of laughter. This is primarily due to the characters and the situations that have been created. That is always of paramount importance. Whether it is the writing of all the situations, screenplay and the dialogues that each one is mouthing - they are all very funny. People are obviously going to laugh a lot. I had lots of fun doing the film. Also, there is some great music here. No wonder, it turned out to be a breeze making this film. Usually I get tired by doing serious roles and hence it was quite refreshing to do a character which was fun. I didn't get tired at all this time around. I get tired by doing serious roles and hence it was quite refreshing to do a character which was fun I guess it was also the Sajid effect, right? One hears that he involved everyone to be together all the time both on and off the sets. He is someone whose heart is in the right place. He has a lot of conviction in what he wants. He is very clear. In fact Deepika and I were the only people who hadn't worked with him before as he has practically got the entire Heyy Babyy team together. Initially I was like a newcomer on his sets, but neither he nor Akshay and Riteish made me feel like one. Some moments of 'hum saath saath hain' revisited here? (Laughs) I think it is always so much fun when you get to work with a team like this. When you start doing a film, you are there because you have to do a job. You have liked something in the script and hence you are in the film. This is why it is very important to be friends with people with whom you are working. Obviously that chemistry shows on screen. I love all my actors once I start working with them. I don't have egos; I don't indulge into playing any games. I approach my work that way. Arjun Rampal So you consider yourself fortunate that you ended up working with a like minded team? Of course yes. (Sajid) Nadiadwala is a great producer and is extremely passionate about what he makes. You can see that seriousness in him when he comes to work. When you find people like these, you get more motivated to do better work. I think a really good team is when everybody pulls the best out of each other. How it happens and when it happens isn't something that I can explain. But when that happens, it is extremely natural. Each of us had a great time during Housefull. Akshay and I picked up from where we had left after Aankhen. Ritiesh, Lara and Deepika are good friends of mine. Same holds good for Boman and Sajid too. The genre of the film must have helped as well, right? All the fun is expected to rub off on actors off the screen as well, isn't it? That indeed helps because you are constantly laughing. It was a very chilled out shoot. The setting was relaxed and everybody was getting along well. Once you get to know the attitude of the person, the relationship can only get better from that moment on. Like for example, it happened in case of working with Farhan (Akhtar) in Don and then Rock On. So, in the future if we work together we would try to do better work. One doesn't have to go through the process of getting to know each other. That's how you create chemistry. It is very important for actors to be friends so that an element of trust comes in. When you are doing a scene and are not getting something, you have to get that comfort level with your co-star to get that help. The more comfortable an environment, the better you feel. It is very important for actors to be friends so that an element of trust comes in Well, with the film round the corner, how much better are you feeling today? Anticipating a solid blockbuster in the offing here? If the film does really well and ends up doing a business of say 100-150-200 crores, it would be growth of the industry. I wish that for every film because then we would be a rich industry. Of course that means that we would be rich actors as well (laughs). On a serious note though, I don't want to say that this movie is definitely going to do 100 crores or anything. I don't want to assign a number. I just hope that the film reaches out to a huge majority and people enjoy it. Are there chances of that? Oh definitely yes because it is a very commercial and universal film. The kind which would be liked by kids and families. It has all the elements of becoming a real big film. Having said that, these are the kind of things that you just leave for Friday to decide because each film has its own destiny. This is why once I am done with the shooting of a film, I just say 'Thank you God. I hope you are happy with my work. Now please let audience come up with similar sentiments as well.'

"It's A Wonderful Afterlife is about death & reincarnation" - Gurindher Chadha

Gurindher Chadha She introduced the real Punjabi culture with each of her films. Whether it was Bend It Like Beckham or Bride and Prejudice, her own brand of filmmaking was un-miscible. The unique sense of humour and the big fat Indian wedding is her trademark, the British Asian Director, Gurinder Chadha is back with another of her 'tadka' Punjabi film It's A Wonderful Afterlife this summer with great music, immense humour and none other than Shabana Azmi as the Punjabi mother. In conversation with Chandni Dev from Bollwyood Hungama, Gurinder reveals how this one is going to a never before seen watch. How has the reaction been in the UK for the film It's A Wonderful Afterlife? Well, I've recently started twittering and it's fantastic. People have been writing in and saying they've seen it and they cant wait to go and see it again and I feel it would be very popular with the British Asian population of the audiences and also with their friends and people who sort of live in the very diverse part of Britain who have Indian friends and also fans of Bend It Like Beckham. So I think so far there is a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of excitement. You said that the concept of It's A Beautiful Afterlife was inspired by your hormones, what's that story? Basically, I was pregnant when we were writing this film. So the film is very much about motherhood and how much a mother would do to keep her children happy. And in this film the character, the mother, just wants to see her daughter happy, enjoy her marriage, and enjoy motherhood before she dies you know. She wants to do all these things for her. And I think every mother kind of wants that really. You know when I was pregnant I knew I would want all these kind of things. And the film is also about death it's also about reincarnation because where you have life you'll also have death. Film is also about death it's also about reincarnation because where you have life you'll also have death You also were trying to make another Bend It Like Beckham through this film is that correct? Basically it's been seven years since I made Bend It Like Beckham and I made two films since. I made Bride and Prejudice and I made Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging which hasn't obviously released in India yet but wherever I went people wanted me to make another Bend It Like Beckham again and again and I was like okay! Let me make a film that's set back in that world, in that community but is of a completely different genre. Most of your films have marriage as sort of the base Not all of them, But most of them… What's Cooking? Didn't, Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging didn't. Gurindher Chadha The ones Indian audiences have seen is one with a lot of wedding and hoopla! Yea! The Asian ones. But that's because when its comes to women, especially films with Indian women as the protagonist, well so much about the Indian women is about the marriage. From the time you're born it's about planning your wedding. When you're 23 the panic sets it "oh my god you have to get married", when you reach thirty and you're still not married your parents start feeling like they haven't done their duty and they've only been living half the life because they haven't got you married. So its still very much part of the Asian world and Asian woman and it's definitely here in Britain too. So much about the Indian women is about the marriage A lot of the pressures to get married and a lot of the family system showed in your films are mainly of the British Asian living alongside the British. You think that's something the Indian audience would understand here in India? I don't think that's very British I think it's Indian. It's Indians who are obsessed with marriage. You tell me one woman in India who will reach the age of thirty and her parents wont be worried about her being married. It's an Indian thing. And I think what I show is that in Britain even though so many of us are living a very English life as well as an Indian life how the concept of marriage is still very much central to our world. But what I do is, poke fun at it, I show comedy of it and that then relieves the pressure. That's what I am really doing and in this film, I am turning Indian wedding into a kind of horror moment here. Just ready to show how ridiculous that pressure can be. You tell me one woman in India who will reach the age of thirty and her parents wont be worried about her being married In your film there is a big Indian wedding scene in the end that was probably the most challenging scene in the film. Is that correct? Yes! That's the scene in the film where the Indian wedding turns into a scene from the film Carrie where everything goes wrong. It was a lot of fun it took about 10 days to shoot that scene we had flying poppadoms and naans and curry everywhere it was a massive food fight and it was a lot of fun and I think if you had to have a wedding you'd wish it would turn out like that. I think if you had to have a wedding you'd wish it would turn out like that. Is the film going to be a musical because you have a great lie up of singers from Tazz and Punjabi MC and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan It's not a musical its more of my kind of British Asian comedy but music is so important to me especially the whole British bhangra scene which started very much here in England and I am delighted on this. I went back to Bally Sagoo who I used in my first film so he is done a few tracks, Tazz has done a few tracks, Punjabi MC, then of course we have Rahet Fateh Ali Khan We have the best British Asian music in this film and that's something I am extremely proud off because culturally that's something very important to me. Because hand in hand with my film, goes the whole British Asian music scene. Because hand in hand with my film goes the whole British Asian music scene. How come Shabana Azmi and not someone who really is a Punjabi by culture? Well! I wanted to work with Shabana well I think every director at some point wants to work with Shabana. But I never had a role that I thought would be good for her and I had got to know her after working with Javed Saab and Farhan and Zoya who worked on the lyrics of Bride And Prejudice with her. When I met up with her I found her to be extremely jolly and very funny. When I was writing this part it was such a complex part to play a serial killer and a Punjabi mother at the same time that I thought that she would have the nuances and the skills to kind of make someone sympathetic towards her even though she is murderer and so I called her and said 'umm Shabana I have a script that I would like to send you". She said "did you write it?" I said "yes!" she said "r u directing it?" I said "yes". She said "I'll do it, I'll do it, I'll do it" I said "wow! But you haven't even read it because this is a crazy character". She said "crazy is good at my time. I'll like to be crazy" and she loved the idea of playing a British Indian. For her that was something she has never played before. And that was great because when we were shooting she so became that person because we were shooting in Southall and people were walking around saying "Shabana is shooting naa where is Shabana where is Shabana" and people would be walking straight past her except one woman. because she looked so not herself she fitted in completely I completely deglamourised her and then this one woman came up to her at one point and said excuse me are you Shabana Azmi and she was very pleased that at least one person recognised her and she said "why yes! It's me" and this woman said "oh my god! What happened to you? You used to be so beautiful" so that was pretty funny. Shabana said "crazy is good at my time. I'll like to be crazy" So would you like to direct a big Bollywood film in the near future? Say with Sharukh? I would love to work with Shahrukh, absolutely love too. And who knows, I'd never say never. But if I do a masala film, I would do it in my own way with my own brand, and I did that with Bride And prejudice. I did my own version of Bollywood with Bride And Prejudice and that film is extremely popular in America with young girls. So I introduced Bollywood to a lot of people in the west with that film. So now if I have to do it I would have to do something completely different

Subhash K. Jha speaks about Housefull

This is a sly tongue firmly and stubbornly in cheek ,cheeky slick and chic comedy about a loser, or a panauti-a word the recurs ad nauseum in this glorious gasbag of giggles winks nudges and innuendos packaged with such polished panache that you don't really care what the inter-relations in the parodic plot finally signify… Maybe they signify nothing more than a numbing but pleasantly diverting nothingness. But who the heck cares, as long as the tumble of confusions generates a hilarious havoc. Housefull as the title suggests, is chockful of characters who bump into one another and into hard surfaces (including the unresolved edges in the plot) without injury. It's all done in ricocheting rhythms of laughter that rises from the pit of the plot's belly and moves upwards towards us, sometimes missing its target. More than the screenplay (Milap Zaveri, Sajid Khan, Vibha Singh) which moves helter-skelter in every direction away from the centre of the plot and just about succeeds in coming to a reasonably coherent conclusion, it is the bevy of characters who are positioned in the screenplay with a supreme sense of pyramidal aptness. Every actor shines because he or she knows the idea is to have fun and to transmit that fun to the audience. It's the actors' responsibility to make the maze of inter-relations hold together. They succeed. Yes, sometimes the actors seem to enjoy the comedy of energetic error more than we do. Beyond a point how many slap-happy slipping-on-the-floor nudge-nudge-wink-wink oops-we-did-it-again rolling of the eyes biting-of-the-tongue jokes can we take?? But somehow it all holds together. Like a jigsaw done in the pages of a comic book and then put on celluloid Housefull evokes smiles and chuckles in cramped and wide-open spaces. Seen as a comicbook caper Housefull succeeds in slamming the laughter in place without slipping on its banana-peel humour. There is a casino in London where our loser-hero is beckoned to stem losses, a casino waitress(Lara Dutta) whose traditional Gujarati father(Boman Irani, as confidently spontaneous as ever) has disowned her for eloping with a man of her choice, a stern government agent(Arjun Rampal, the only actor who doesn't get to smile in this chirpy chuckle-fest) , an overseved sexy-widow(Lilette Dubey) and assorted characters who come and go in a whoosh of wacky misunderstandings , confused identity and half-resolved comic snarls. Sajid Khan's earlier film Heyy Babyy was a minty mix of mirth and maudlinism . Housefull is a full-on flamboyant farce. Strangely there's a subtlety even tenderness at times, to the way Sajid Khan handles the satirical material centered on the theme of a loser who brings bad luck on himself so often that he begins to wonder if there's a method to the madness of his destiny. Unlike most situational comedies Housefull chooses the lower octaves of storytelling. The scale is pitched down. Even when the characters scream their lungs out we don't wince in discomfort. This is the most well-behaved comedy in recent times with an array of pert but low-key performances. Stripped of all buffoonery, Akshay Kumar does his most delicately balanced comic act ever. There's a mellow maturity to the way he balances farce with a more underplayed style of comedy. Riteish Deshmukh provides Akshay with the right cues. So do the rest of the actors. Among the three glamorous and sexy ladies Lara Dutta has the best comic timing and Deepika Padukone has the most thehrao in her outward projection of the farcical element. Mention must be made of Chunky Pandey who brings the roof down with his Italian-Punjabi accent and burlesque. The visual quality, be it in London or Italy is exceedingly eye catching without the grins gathering a gallant garishness around the farce. Housefull looks and feels right. The climax in 'Buckingham Palace' (replete with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles look-alikes) depends too closely on a literal outflow of laughter gas. But that's okay. Delicacy of comic presentation is not a claim that Housefull makes. But moments of muffled tenderness just happen in the plot's confounded journey of a loser from no-love to know-love. Worth watching for its mix of the wacky and the more tender variety of laughter.

"Bunty Aur Babli was restricted, Badmaash Company is more believable" - Shahid

Badmaash Company And there he walks in with a huge smile. In his trademark blue denims and a blue printed tee, Shahid looked like one naughty kid entering a press conference. Now a man, and a bad one too (looking by his released films titled Kaminey and Badmaash Company), Kapoor is seen deeply sucked into the world of films. He has slight stubble which he confessed he has grown for one of the many look tests he is undergoing for his father's directorial debut Mausam. He walks a few strides and then turns the chair around and sits with his legs widely stretched. That's comfort for Shahid. He has no regrets and has left his inhibitions in the bin. That's why you see him more relaxed today. He again breaks into laughter on the few questions being asked, then orders for some water, and as he is about to answer one of the any questions thrown to him, his father calls him on his mobile. Unlike other heroes, he picks the call up. Then you look at the journalists and they are fine with it. They are fine with the fact that they treat Shahid as one of them - street smart, wicked (sometimes), witty, mad and upfront. Today, as I see him sitting at an arm's distance, I notice a different Shahid. I notice that he hasn't changed. UK's Harrow Observer columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent meets the man who dictates his own rules, creates his own rules and breaks his own - the sweet 'kamina' and an even sweeter 'badmaash' Shahid Kapoor. It's con-fession time! Kaminey and Badmaash Company. You've got a lot of bad names man! (Laughs) I don't know. Maybe my directors see a lot of 'kaminapan' and 'badmaashi' inside me. I'm happy and it's fun playing a bad guy. I've not done it for many years since I began my career. Now I'm getting all bad guys roles because of Kaminey. Badmaash is a little less of a bad guy than a kamina (laughs). Kaminey's role was a lot more physical and quick. Badmaash Company sees me as more of a thinker. Which means that you haven't played a role like Badmaash? Yes. I haven't played a role like this before, of a scammer and of a con artist. It's a genre that I really get excited about. Con films are rarely seen in Bollywood. I think films like Bunty Aur Babli was restricted in its conning. It was more of a small time con guys. Badmaash Company is a lot more believable. Bunty Aur Babli was restricted in its conning. Badmaash Company is a lot more believable How do con artists make money? Con artists don't make money through conning people. They make money because their ideas are bigger than their pockets. That's why the line in the film goes - 'Any business grows not because of the power of money, but because of a bigger idea' which I believe in. Their big idea happens to be a scam and they pull it off. They believe that they are getting success through conning people and don't mind pursuing it as their business. There is a reason why they do that. They want to break out of their normal life. A life of 9 to 6 jobs and all. They are young, enthusiastic and that's why they want to do something unpredictable. What was your interaction with Parmeet after you read the script? I think Parmeet Sethi is a dangerous guy. He is a big con man. Watch out for him. But when I spoke to him after reading the script, he told me that all these con jobs were picked up from newspapers. He has taken the basic thought of every con job from a real incident and that's why it is the biggest strength of our film as it looks believable. Plus, the film is also based in the mid nineties. Shahid Kapoor What about the nineties? We used to get it the easy way. I mean, the whole customs act wasn't introduced back then. Everything was sold in 'black money'. So that time was very apt for this kind of a plot. System wasn't well defined. It's a lot more logical. We shot at the Hyderabad airport only to show that the Mumbai airport looked like this in the nineties. So, you call yourself 'lucky'? A con job film based in the nineties, a youth oriented film, and I'm working for the first time with three new people. When I read the script, I found that it was innovative. I hadn't come across characters like these, and con jobs like these. That's when I decided that I wanted to be a part Badmaash Company. I've been really lucky in the last three years to have got one significant film each year. Parmeet told me that all these con jobs were picked up from newspapers How difficult is it shifting gears from Guddu to Charlie to Karan in Badmaash Company? It's great fun. I don't want to play Shahid in different costumes. I hope I can break that. I want to do it once in a while. An actor can never be larger than the script. If the script provides you a base where you can attempt something new without taking it away from the subject, then one does that. I'm not established than the three Khans' nor am I as new as the new ones. I'm somewhere in between. I need to balance things here. I can't do things that are so different that people don't understand. I have left all inhibitions behind and am ready to do diverse roles in my career now. This is the time in Bollywood that anybody can make a good film, anybody can be accepted and anything can work. If you had to choose one role from your career, which role would you pick as your favourite? Undoubtedly Kaminey. Then I guess Mausam will follow because it is the most challenging role as of now. Even my character in Badmaash Company was difficult to portray as I age five years in the film. That's something I feel is difficult. I'm not established than the three Khans' nor am I as new as the new ones Do you recall any incidents from your personal life where you've conned anyone? Yes, all the time. I used to con my mother. I played cricket for six hours everyday. I have my man 'Friday' called 'Mamu' who is with me and was with my family before I was born. Mamu and I would always strategise how we will get the money out to repair the broken windows and we were successful all the time. I am an inherent badmaash. What I can't do in real life is what I do in my films.

Laawaris track 'Apni Toh Jaise Taise' won't be deleted from Housefull for now

It looks like the controversial re-mix of the Laawaaris track 'Apni Toh Jaise Taise' in this weekend's big hit Housefull won't have to be deleted from the film, at least for now. Acting swiftly on the honourable High Court's decision in Kolkata restraining the use of the chartbusting Lawaaris song, the music company Saregama which sold the song's rights to producer Sajid Nadaidwala got an amendment against the High Court's decision in Kolkata. Divulging these facts, Apurv Nagpal Managing Director of HMV-Saregama says, "The restraint order has been amended, pending our appeal which would be heard on Monday. The film (Housefull)'s prints have already been sent to all centres on Friday." Housefull director Sajid Khan appears blissfully unaware of the copyright battle raging against a song in his film. Says Sajid Khan, "I am the film's director. I liked the song and I used it in Housefull after I thought all the legal procedure was followed. At the moment, I'm just so happy and relieved by the response to my film that I really don't want to go into a matter that I don't understand."

"Had Harman focused on It's My Life, he'd have a superhit on his hand" - Boney

Boney Kapoor After Milenge Milenge which releases in the last week of June or the first week of July Boney Kapoor has decided to also finally release It's My Life, the only pending film of Harman Baweja. Directed by Anees Bazmee It's My Life is a remake of a super-hit Telugu film Bomarrillu. The film has been ready for nearly a year. The release date has been repeatedly announced and cancelled, the most recent being July 23, 2010. Says Boney, "Harman himself is partly to blame for the delay. I wish he hadn't given priority to his other two films Victory and What's Your Raashee. If he had listened to me and focused on It's My Life, he'd have had a super-hit on his hand." Riding high prior to the release of his debut film Love Story 2050, Harman gave out his dates to Ajit Pal's Victory and Ashutosh Gowariker's What's Your Raashee and wanted It's My Life to come after these. The gambit had not gone down well with the sensitive Boney Kapoor. He had decided to put It's My Life on the backburner, his logic being, "If the project is not important enough to the hero it isn't important for me either." But now Boney is in a more charitable mood. Apparently, he has been negotiating with a large corporate house Sahara for a tie-up release. "I'll release It's My Life right after Milenge Milenge," says Boney. But the question is, when does Milenge Milenge release? It's scheduled for the last week of June or the first week of July. But the time that Kareena Kapoor promised to allot for the promotional video and photo-shoot have still not materialized. Says Boney, "I needed to get Shahid's video in place. Now all I need from Kareena is 5-6 hours. She has promised she would give me the time." But when? It looks like Harman Baweja will once again have to look towards Kareena for support. 'Housefull' evokes smiles, giggles aplenty

This is a sly tongue firmly and stubbornly in cheek, slick and chic comedy about a loser, or a panauti - a word that recurs ad nauseum in this glorious gasbag of giggles, winks, nudges and innuendos packaged with such polished panache that you don't really care what the inter-relations in the parodic plot finally signify.

What made Housefull Hilarious?

With a recollaboration of Hey Babyy team, the recently released multi-starrer flick Housefull is all set to entertain the audiences this summer. While the film is getting rave reviews for its hilarious script, the stars' performances and the lively jokes, what makes the film more than just staple Bollywood masala is the extraordinary visual effects (VFX) and DI executed by Mumbai-based Visual entertainment services Company, Prime Focus. Talking about the vfx of the movie, Merzin Tavaria, Chief Creative Director at Prime Focus said, "Housefull is one of the most challenging films in terms of creatives and deliveries. The most important sequences being the Tiger sequence and the Monkey sequence. We had a couple of scenes which involved the lead actors interacting with a Tiger which was quite difficult to shoot in reality,That's one of the scenes where we have used VFX but the beauty of the shot is that it's so seamless that you can't make out the use of VFX and this helps, as it looks real and doesn't disturb the narrative. Apart from the vfx, what added glitz to movie was the Digital Intermediate (DI) executed by the Prime Focus team. Says DI head and Chief colorist Rohan Desai," Since Housefull is a romantic comedy, we have set the palette to bright-happy colors. We have maintained a very clean and consistent look for the entire movie. Talking about the challenges Rohan said , "Most of the scenes in Housefull were shot in London where the weather is very erratic; as a result there were a lot of lighting challenges involved, with Digital Intermediate we achieved the required look and feel for the scenes and consistency in terms of skin tones and background. There were scenes where we had patches of clouds passing by that made the background change tones from dull to bright and dim again; We animated the color grades and used DI to maintain consistency in terms of lighting. ," Desai added. In a special VFX showcase series by Bollywood Hungama, we bring you an exclusive behind-the-scenes, shot by shot explanation which will take you on an enriching vfx ride courtesy Prime Focus, Sajid Nadiadwala and the Director Sajid Khan.

Celina's toothache blues on twitter

There are some real strange things that technology does to mankind! While it almost did away with the age old inland letters by having them replaced with E-Mail! Now, with the advent of 'everyone's 140-charactered personal space' (popularly known as 'Twitter'), it seems that writing a personal diary seems to look like a thing of the dinosaur era! We saw some interesting activity on Celina Jaitly's page recently, who, apparently was suffering from a toothache. She tweeted the entire process of what one goes through the process of a root canal! Tweets Celina, "Root canal update: hurts like hell time for 1more pain killer i dnt know how in the blue blazes am I going to fly tomorrow night to Canada. I "DiD NOT" get a gold tooth did not want to look like a pimp considering. The root canal was done on front 2 teeth." And in no time, her inbox was filled with all the well-wishers' messages, to which she replied (ooopss... read 'tweeted'), "Hey tweeties I love u all thank u for ur wishes ... For my lol root canal ... Am pretty shaken but the doctor was fabulosa mimosa good".

"Riteish was great fun, Arjun has great comic timing" - Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar Once and for all Akshay Kumar sets the record straight on his pairing with Priyanka Chopra by saying he's all for the pair coming together again. "But will she do a film with me? The ball is in her court. I do mostly comedies. I think Priyanka hardly ever acts in comedies," reasons Akshay. Clearing all doubts about his ability/inability to work with Priyanka Chopra, Akshay says, "Excuse me, we're all professionals here. And the two of us have done very successful films in the past. I'd love to work with Priyanka Chopra again. Mujhe koi aitraaz nahin hai. But I'm only doing comedy films these days. I don't know whether she wants to do a comedy film. Even Farah Khan's Tees Maar Khan is a comedy." Having decided he would do predominantly comedy roles, Akshay is now on the look-out for ways to make it interesting. "Even if it's comedy it better be interesting. If I continue doing the same thing over and over again, I'd be asked to pack up sooner than I'd like." Akshay had a ball doing Housefull. "Not just the three ladies but also Riteish Deshmukh and Arjun Rampal. Riteish was great fun. Shooting was a playground with him around. He just cracks me up. We once put the entire cutlery at the breakfast table in a hotel in Italy in Jiah Khan's bag and told the waiter to check her bag. Jiah took it sportingly. Arjun Rampal too has great comic timing. Lara Dutta is such an elegant lady and yet she be can one of the boys when it comes to comedy." We've heard of actors carrying their roles home. But Akshay Kumar would be the first actor to take his part to the playing field. Having been training as a bowler Akshay Kumar is all set to play national-level cricket. Akshay Kumar is fast learning to be a professional cricketer and plans to play at the national level soon. "I'm working towards it. Practicing my cricket gives me the biggest high. Every morning I look forward to practicing with Balwinder Singh Sandhu." Akshay is rapidly becoming an expert bowler. "I am not yet good enough to play national-level cricket but I am getting there. I've been taking bowling lessons for Patiala House from one of the best trainers. I'm trying get to a national level. I'm very sporty by nature. So it was quite easy for me to pick it up." Akshay trains in cricket for a couple of hours every day. "I'm getting good enough to play beyond the film. And I will very soon. I promise you."
