Playing under the name Nudedragons, an anagram of Soundgarden, Chris Cornell and the crew played a two-hour set of classics that kicked off with "Spoonman" and ended with a cover of the Doors' "Waiting for the Sun." Unfortunately, there's very little proof of the show on YouTube. There is, however, this short, grainy video posted by one fan who writes that he "couldn't film very much becasue [sic] the security was insane at this show." Enjoy!

Hope it was worth it. Because now the numbers are in and the network lost $223 million on the Games. While the Olympics brought in $800 million of extra revenue, they also added a boatload of expenses, including the $820 million NBC paid just to get the rights to show them. GE executives aren't so worried about the loss, because the high ratings gave them a chance to advertise Jay Leno's move back to 11:35. You know, just in case anyone wasn't actually aware of it. Bloomberg's a fan, he said on the radio yesterday. "It's a bunch of people getting involved in government, in politics, that is good for the country," he said. "It stirs the pot up." Could the serial party-switcher be contemplating a run on the Tea Party ticket? Probably not. President Clinton's take on the Tea Party was a little less charitable. While Clinton thinks "the Tea Party movement can be a healthy thing if they are making us justify every dollar of taxes we raise and every dollar of money we've spent," he's a little afraid. Clinton compared the anger coming from Tea Party rallies to the attitudes that led to Timothy McVeigh's bombing in Oklahoma City. "We see some of that today," he said. And even if the Tea Party's motives are good and peaceful, he said, "when you get mad, sometimes you end up producing the exact opposite result of what you say you are for." Funny things! Not only does Muldoon offer invaluable insight into Ke$ha's King Lear references (the lyric "Oh oh, oh oh" is clearly a nod to Lear's line "No, no, no, no!"), but he admits that the glitter-faced singer has been able to achieve something he has not. "I've tried to be trashy," Muldoon says. "I'm not sure if I have [succeeded]."

Yesterday, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly announced that a two-year investigation called "Operation Under Siege" had resulted in the arrests of 104 people and the discovery of a plot hatched by a gang of conspiring Bloods and Crips to murder police officers. Overheard on a wiretap, the plan was for a gang member to position himself on top of a building and shoot police who were harming the gang's business. The unlikely alliance of Bloods and Crips, based in Far Rockaway and Jamaica, called itself "Flocc" and regularly made $15,000 a week selling drugs and guns. They also posted rap videos on YouTube boasting of their willingness to "spray the Man to protect [their] land." That's a great way to get caught. Source: Entertainment - Google News | 17 Apr 2010 | 10:44 am Republicans Form United Front Against Financial-Reform Bill; Obama Tells Them to Shove It![]() All 41 Republican senators scribbled their names on a letter to majority leader Harry Reid yesterday asking him to change everything they hate about the Democrats' financial-reform bill and adopt something more bi-partisan. And of course, if the GOP doesn't get its way it plans to filibuster, thereby preventing debate on the bill and potentially keeping any type of reform from passing before the midterm elections. The GOP's main complaint is that the Dems' bill encourages future taxpayer bailouts of Wall Street firms by establishing a $50 billion fund to deal with firms that fail in the future. In his weekly radio address today, President Obama slapped down that claim, accusing minority leader Mitch McConnell of making a "cynical and deceptive assertion that reform would somehow enable future bailouts — when he knows that it would do just the opposite." The funny thing is that Obama agrees with Republicans. He doesn't want the bailout fund in the bill, either. But you know Democrats and Republicans, even when they agree they can find a way to fight about it. Senate Republicans Band Together in Opposing Financial Bill [Caucus/NYT] Read more posts by Adam K. Don't be, because according to the Times one of the themes emerging from the first day of the festival is that "rap-rock, the widely derided late-1990s fusion that dominated FM rock radio for a few tedious years, is recovering some of its early promise." That's right, apparently rap-rock had promise and, unfortunately, it's being recovered by groups like Sleigh Bells and Calle 13 and the Minnesota rapper P.O.S.
