Last Night on Late Night: Kristen Bell Talks Airplane Flatulence

Kristen Bell was remarkably forthcoming about her airplane-induced gassiness on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson last night, revealing an unexpected benefit of being engaged to Dax Shepard. Bell then commiserated with Geoff Peterson, Ferguson's new robot sidekick who apparently suffers from a similar problem, and a limited vocabulary. The bodily function gags continued on The Daily Show, where Jon Stewart assailed the self-righteousness of a Florida doctor who refuses to treat Obama voters. On Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, a visit from The Pacific star James Badge Dale prompted an amusing story about Fallon's inability to drive a WWII-era jeep on the set of Band of Brothers. Finally, Stephen Colbert made a brief foray into the world of 3-D to celebrate the weekend success of Clash of the Titans, an experiment that probably caused more seizures than awe. Watch our compilation to see what you missed.

Industry Roundup: Winona Ryder Joins Ron Howard Comedy

Wino Forever: Winona Ryder has joined the cast of Ron Howard’s new untitled comedy, starring Vince Vaughn and Kevin James as best friends. The story is set into motion when Vaughn spies James’ wife (Ryder) cheating on him, which presumably takes place when Ryder finds out one day that the King of Queens refers to a CBS TV show and not a royal lineage. [Deadline]

Zemeckis Goes Dark: Robert Zemeckis will direct Dark Life, a Disney film based on an upcoming adult novel about “a near-future world in which rising ocean levels and natural catastrophes have led some people to homestead on the ocean floor.” An “underwater teenage boy” and “surface boy” join forces to uncover a government conspiracy in the tale. Disney is positioning this as the first film in a family franchise, which makes sense, since nothing says “accessible family franchise” like a movie about rising ocean levels, homesteading and government conspiracies. [Variety]

Such Great Heights: Peter Hedges (What's Eating Gilbert Grape) will adapt his own book, The Heights, and also direct and produce the film, for Focus Features. The story is about a perfect-on-paper family in Brooklyn whose lives are upended when rich neighbors move in next door. Hedges better hope this movie isn’t a failure because if it is, there is literally no one he can blame but himself. [Variety]

Olivia Gives Darkest a Thirl: Olivia Thirlby (Juno, The Wackness) has scored a leading role in The Darkest Hour, a “sci-fi action movie” about a group of Americans in Moscow who witness an alien invasion. Thirlby will play "a trust fund girl trying to survive the attack," a character description which makes us hope there is also a "a trust fund girl who isn't trying to survive the attack," who just sort of hangs out and texts on her Blackberry while the aliens run amok. [Heat Vision/HR]

LCD Adds Dates: LCD Soundsystem has added a number of North American dates over the next few months to their upcoming tour supporting their May 18 album, This Is Happening. The name of the band’s lead single, "Drunk Girls," also describes who (along with drunk boys) you can expect to find in the crowd. [Pitchfork]

Sollett Lands Runaways: Director Peter Sollett (Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist) will direct Runaways, which is described as “The Breakfast Club with superheroes.” The story focuses on the children of supervillians who are “cursed with evil powers” but who use them for heroic purposes… and it all takes place over the course of one drug-fueled and totally unpredictable evening that will change their lives and hearts forever! [Deadline]

How Far We Have (Down)fallen: ABC has ordered a new reality series called Downfall, in which players answer trivia questions on top of a skyscraper for a chance to win up to $1 million in prizes. If they lose, their squandered winnings will literally be dropped off the side of the building and, yes, “the players might also take a controlled plunge, though that part is still being worked out.” This is one of those ideas that really makes you wonder just how it was possible for multiple business executives to sit in a room together and all nod their heads on this as if it was a totally awesome and viable idea. [HR]

Lawrence Hitched To Pilot: Sharon Lawrence has joined the cast of Josh Schwartz’s comedy pilot Hitched, in which she will play the "prim and well-meaning mother" of Rachel (Kristen Kreuk), who has just married Brett (Jack Carpenter). You may want to consider a name change, Schwartz, as the shippers are not going to be pleased with "Brachel." [HR]

Police Arrest 56 After Gang Outburst In Times and Herald Squares

After a gang-related melee in Times Square and Herald Square late Sunday night - which Mayor Bloomberg referred to as “a bunch of gang members wilding” and which others compared to the "bad old days" of 1970s New York - 56 youths have been arrested or given summonses. Four people were shot after hundreds of “thugs” descended upon the squares on Easter Sunday night, in what cops say has become an annual tradition.

"There's a bunch of people that think it's cute to go out and to run around and to cause chaos," Bloomberg said. "We're not going to stand for it."

You hear that, gang members? Crazy violent fracases that spill into New York's most tourist-heavy areas? So not cute.

Early Date Night Reviews Suggest Missed Opportunity

The industry trades have posted the first reviews for the Steve Carell-Tina Fey comedy Date Night, out in theaters this Friday, and the Hollywood Reporter’s Frank Sheck (sadly) confirms our initial worries, suggesting that the Michael Scott-Liz Lemon pairing is as dysfunctional as a Scott-led meeting or Lemon date…. but without being, you know, funny.

"Steve Carell and Tina Fey bring their estimable comic chops to Date Night, which sadly illustrates the current disparity between television and big-screen comedy," he writes. "[Carell and Fey] star in two of the wittiest, most sophisticated sitcoms on the air, but...they're stuck with an endlessly silly plot line and overblown physical mayhem that is instantly forgettable."

And though Variety’s Lael Loewenstein cheerily describes it as “an uncommonly engaging date movie,” she goes on to mull that "it would be fun to see where Fey and Carell could really go if let loose, and if Date Night had even further embraced its edginess."

Oh well. At least now we can channel all of our excitement toward Fey's Saturday Night Live hosting gig this weekend, and the inevitable sketch in which she gets hit on by (musical guest) Justin Bieber.

Obama To Place Limits On U.S. Nuclear Weapons Use

President Obama has outlined his plans for overhauling America’s nuclear strategy, implementing more stringent limitations on when the country can use nuclear weapons. However, the president made clear that exceptions would be made for countries like Iran and North Korea that have “violated or renounced the main treaty to halt nuclear proliferation.”

Following the recent U.S.-Russia arms agreement, he described the overall U.S. approach - fancily titled the Nuclear Posture Review - as one designed around pushing the world “toward making nuclear weapons obsolete,” and he said there will be incentives for countries to quell their nuclear plans. And, in an attempt to set an example ourselves, he said part of this new strategy will involve renouncing the development of any new nuclear weapons in the U.S.

Despite the scaling back, the president reiterated that the safety of the country will be ensured.

“I’m going to preserve all the tools that are necessary in order to make sure that the American people are safe and secure,” he said, as officials added the strategy would be reconsidered if there were a biological attack launched against the U.S.

When asked about the nuclear program in Iran, where this new strategy will likely first be tested, Obama said he was convinced that “the current course they’re on would provide them with nuclear weapons capabilities,” though he gave no further details.

Leaked Video of U.S. Troops Shooting Baghdad Civilians Is 'Authentic'

A senior U.S. military official has confirmed that a 17-minute video posted today on Wikileaks.org - which shows U.S. troops firing repeatedly from a helicopter at a group walking down a Baghdad street - is authentic. The attack, which took place in July of 2007, ultimately killed 12, a group which included a Reuters photographer, Namir Noor-Eldeen, 22, and driver, Saeed Chmagh, 40, according to the Times.

The conversation between the two troops in the helicopter is captured on film, including an exchange in which one pilot says “Look at those dead bastards,” to which the other responds “Nice.” The pilots believe the group to be insurgents (mistaking Noor-Eldeen's camera for a weapon) and aim and fire, "reveling in their kills," as the Times puts it.

U.S. military officials have reportedly investigated the incident and concluded the troops were not aware there were Reuters employees amongst the group, and there was no disciplinary action taken.

Nicollette Sheridan Claims Housewives Creator Assaulted Her

Former Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan has sued ABC, ABC Studios, Touchstone Television and Housewives creator Marc Cherry for $20 million, claiming she was physically assaulted by Cherry in September of 2008 and that she was fired when she complained about it.

Sheridan says Cherry struck her in the head during the show’s fifth season after she asked him about “something in the script.” The suit claims that he did apologize to Sheridan, but that he retaliated by having her character Edie killed off the show.

“After she complained to her employer about Cherry's improper behavior, Cherry arranged to have Sheridan terminated from the show, resulting in her losing millions in future earnings," the statement claims.

When she brought the matter to the attention of ABC, she claims neither the network nor the production company took any action.

And just in case this all wasn't enough drama for you, there's this: the suit alleges that when Cherry found out actress Teri Hatcher had gone over his head to file a complaint about his behavior, he said: "I hope Teri Hatcher gets hit by a car and dies," which officially makes this lawsuit way more intriguing than anything that has ever happened on the actual show.

Seven Dead and 19 Missing After W. Virginia Mine Blast

At least seven miners were killed and 19 are trapped following an explosion that tore through an underground coal mine in Raleigh County, West Virginia this afternoon. The mine, which employs about 200 miners, is owned by Virginia-based Massey Energy, and this disaster represents the second major incident at a Massey site in recent years, following a 2006 explosion in Logan County, West Virginia that killed two miners. A United Workers official said the current hypothesis is that the explosion was the result of a methane gas build-up in a “sealed off” section of the mine, though this theory hasn’t yet been confirmed by state or federal authorities. Mine rescue teams and state and federal officials are currently working on the rescue effort for the trapped individuals. [NYT, CNN]

Update: As of early Tuesday morning, multiple sources are reporting 25 miners were killed in the explosion, with at least four others still missing.

Last week Richemont, the company that owns brands like Cartier and Montblanc, bought the remaining 67 percent stake in Net-a-Porter, valuing the company at $533 million. Net-a-Porter founder Natalie Massenet, who stays on as CEO, is thought to have made around $76 million from the deal. But who is Natalie Massenet? A woman with a very good idea, leading what seems like a charmed life. The daughter of a Chanel model, Massenet grew up in Paris and L.A. and now lives in Notting Hill, London with her French hedge-fund manager husband and their two daughters. They have homes in Somerset and Paris and vacation in Ibiza. Also, she believes in the self-help book The Secret.

Massenet worked on low-budget films after graduating from UCLA. She then styled for an Italian fashion magazine, and later worked in WWD's West Coast office. In 1993 she met the man she would marry in a Notting Hill carnival. A few months later she moved to London with 30 boxes and got a job at Tatler. Around 1998 she realized that if women were calling and asking where they could buy the items she was shooting, someone should sell clothes online, and that someone should be her.

At first she thought she'd sell pashmina scarves from India, then decided to go for finer things after a frustrating online search for Chloé jeans. In 2000, according to the Independent, she had difficulty getting funding from private-equity companies who told her "women would never shop online." But how wrong they were! Eventually she got the money. Though there aren't many details on how exactly she did that, the London Times offers:

One day she stopped at a branch of Barclays and picked up a pamphlet entitled “Are You an Entrepreneur?”. “I called Arnaud and said, ‘Honey, I’m starting a business.’ And I think he said something like, ‘Great. What’s for dinner?’ ”

As she watched dot-com after dot-com fold, and bought the furniture and equipment from their offices, she hoped she wouldn't be next. “I never thought it wouldn’t work. I never once thought it wouldn’t be huge, she said.

And why shouldn't she? From 2008 to 2010 Massenet's company had grown to employ 600 in New York and London, with sales jumping from about $84 million to $183 million. Currently Massenet is regarded as one of the most influential people in fashion, sits front-row at the shows, and appears as one of the glamorous ladies in Vogue. But with this fortune and success, there are sacrifices:

[S]uccess has not come without cost. Ms Massenet said: "I don't make home-made cupcakes for cupcake day. I pick them up at the store, and it's heartbreaking when I hear that some mom stayed up all night baking."

Well, maybe there's something to be said for not getting them delivered.

Rudy Giuliani Knows a Thing or Two About Leadership

At a press conference to announce his endorsement of Florida Republican Marco Rubio for the Senate, Rudy Giuliani took the time to slam President Obama once again for wavering on whether to hold a trial for the 9/11 plotters in civilian courts. "The president can't make up his mind," Giuliani said. "Do you understand what kind of lack of leadership that shows to the rest of the world?" We know! First Obama was for civilian trials for terrorists, and now he's reconsidering it after taking into account objections from New York City and New York State officials. What kind of leadership is that?

Well, sort of the same kind of leadership that the author of a book called Leadership showed in changing his mind about where to hold terror trials. Since everybody has read Leadership, we don't have to tell you that the person we speak of is Rudy Giuliani himself, who supported civilian trials for the culprits of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, and said of the civilian trial of 9/11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui in 2006:

"I was in awe of our system. It does demonstrate that we can give people a fair trial, that we are exactly what we say we are. We are a nation of law ... I think he's going to be a symbol of American justice."

If Giuliani suddenly changes his mind, that's okay, because his prior positions were "a mistake," as he told CNN. But if Obama changes his mind on the exact same issue, that's a lack of leadership. Got it. Thanks for the leadership tips, Mayor Leadership.

USA: Now the Network for Lives of Quiet Desperation!

USA, which is still hanging on to the title of highest-rated cable network, just announced that they have seven new original series in development, each with its own singular bent ... sort of. "These new projects ... [offer] viewers the kind of exceptionally written, aspirational originals they won't find anywhere else," Jeff Wachtel, president of original programming, said in a press release. Emphasis here on "aspirational," it seems, since after reading through the description of each program, one is struck by the weirdly consistent "the secret life of ... whoever" vibe to each show. It's as if the network decided, in the absence of Monk, they'd stop making shows about people who just do what they do, and start making shows about people who hate what they do and so do what they daydream about. Let's investigate.

Here are the descriptions of the new shows, condensed from the press release:

A Legal Mind: An unmotivated college-dropout stoner gets recruited to help a high-powered lawyer.

Robyn: A young woman decides to become a Robin Hood of sorts, robbing from the rich and redistributing to the poor.

• Untitled Gay Walch Project: A suburban mom works off her vanished husband's gambling debts by becoming a mob "fixer."

Stick: A bad-boy NHL player is suspended from his team, and starts helping people that the law can't.

• A Steve Carell–produced project about a middle-class insurance investigator who finds high-stakes drama in the dullest jobs.

The Velvet Hammer: A former Texas debutante returns home as a mom ... and a hard-core FBI agent.

• One other untitled FBI project in which we can only assume the agents used to be car salesmen.

USA seems to be mixing the regular-person-gone-bad formulas of Showtime's Weeds and AMC's Breaking Bad, except with a more accessible "regular-person-gone-force-for-good" twist. (Well, except for the mob fixer, but we assume she finds some way to be lovable in a leg-breaky way.) By giving every Joe or Joanne Sixpack a new, more glamorous and thrilling career, are they betting that their audience is made up of really boring people who wish they could live more exciting lives? Are they implying that we know we shouldn't be sitting around watching Psych and Royal Pains, even as we do just that? That's a pretty gutsy demo to go for: TV for people who hate themselves for watching TV.

Katie Holmes Might Be a Fan of the Sweatpants Trend

Katie Holmes, who famously popularized boyfriend jeans two years ago, was snapped in New York today sporting the latest trend in casual bottoms — sweatpants — on the set of her new film Son of No One.

These may be part of a costume or a personal sartorial choice. Either way, can she do for these what she did for baggy jeans?

Party Lines: Talking Abandoned Artistic Opportunities on Red’s Opening Night

While John Logan’s play Red is about artist Mark Rothko creating a series of murals for The Four Seasons Restaurant back in the fifties, Rothko famously refused to deliver the paintings. So when we caught up with Christine Ebersole, we wondered if she's ever left a project in the dust. "Well, there was a scheduling conflict and I missed out on a TV series," she told us. And though we begged to know which series it was, she refused to say. "I can’t, I really can’t, because it wouldn’t be good for the person who’s doing it. But yeah, so that was to the tune of about $5 million. Whatever. Easy come, easy go." Academy Award–winning writer-director Paul Haggis had a similar experience: He abandoned a screenplay he’d spent two years on. "After I quit television, I worked on it for a year, I finished it, and my wife said, ‘You know, it’s not very good, is it?’" Haggis told us. “So I then took another six months and rewrote it, and she said, ‘I liked the first draft better.' She’s cruel, but she’s always right, so that one went into the drawer and never came back out.” See more from opening night in the Party Lines slideshow.

Are Fashion Companies Wasting Too Much Time on iPhone Apps?

Instead of focusing on device-specific apps, experts suggest fashion brands focus on creating websites for mobile devices that work well and are easily navigable. After all, the mobile site can reach everyone with a browser on their phone, but not everyone who cares about fashion has an iPhone! As the Observer reminded us last week, many in the industry prefer the BlackBerry (Anna Wintour can often be seen using hers at the shows). And those people certainly aren't waiting in line for iPads anytime soon. [Business of Fashion]

Gwyneth Paltrow Feels Terrible When She Wakes Up in the Morning

It's possible that lady behind her is a demon.

Because the fried chicken and sundaes she has been ingesting while down South are giving her heartburn and causing her waistline to expand at a disturbing pace, you ask, hopefully? Alas.

"I can eat what I want, as long as I exercise," she tells the Daily Telegraph,

"which is just as well, because if I put the word' diet' into my brain, I immediately gain a stone."

A stone. Actually said that, by the way. It wasn't translated from the American. It's in quotes. A stone. Anyway, why does Gwyneth feel terrible in the morning, if not because she is aging and decaying and getting fatter like the rest of us humans?

It is because she is full of hate.

"I'll wake up in the morning and think, 'Ugh, I feel terrible', and suddenly realise, 'Ah, that's why. I'm holding on to so much hate.'"

Maria Cornejo and Calvin Klein’s Francisco Costa Would Like to Cast Older, Less Waifish Models

Kristen McMenamy in Calvin Klein's fall 2010 show.

The hooplah over curves has led to some changes in runway and editorial castings. More realistically sized models are landing work that might have a few years ago gone to a 16-year-old waif. But it's unclear if these are fleeting changes or true signs of a new era for fashion in the new decade. Designer Francisco Costa of Calvin Klein and Maria Cornejo revealed they're hungry for change in a panel discussion with the Washington Post's Robin Givhan on Friday. Costa said he had been afraid of changing the casting direction for his runway shows, since Calvin Klein himself "started" the "waif movement." But he's trying to turn the tide, which is why for his fall 2010 show, he cast models like 39-year-old Stella Tennant and 43-year-old Kristen McMenamy.

"It was a very conscious effort to change in the past two years, to give it a twist, to make contact with the customer, because in reality, no 16-year-olds are buying my clothes — she's 45. I love to think my customer is 45 because that's the woman I want to dress. It's the moment when a women is so comfortable with herself. That was the intent, to bring models who were wonderful then and are still incredible now."

Still, he chose 16-year-old Jac to open. When Costa said he would love to do a street casting one day, Cornejo replied:

"I have to say, the first show I did in New York, I did have all real people, only one model, and it bombed. The editors do not want to see the clothes on real women. It's more exciting for them [to see the clothes on models]. They want to be able to say: 'Oh, I shot her last week.'"

Cornejo says she faces another big problem with casting for her shows, which have a much smaller budget than Calvin's. The agencies send her who she can afford, which are the new, young, skinny 16-year-olds who don't have to be flown in and paid an exorbitant fee, and aren't semi-retired from the industry.

"Most of the time I say, 'You're too young, you're too skinny, you're too pretty, my daughter is older than you.' I don't want to endorse that idealism of a girl when I have a teenager. I don't want people to think, 'Oh my God, she's got an 18-year-old [daughter] and she's sending 15-year-old anorexics down the runway."

Even if that is what editors like, Cornejo says her clothes don't get shot anyway since she doesn't advertise. Not that she reads the magazines and weeps — she prefers to curl up with National Geographic:

"I'm 47 and most of the time I personally feel totally alienated by fashion magazines, I don't even want to look at them. Anybody can make a 15-year-old model look good. It takes a lot to make a 47-year-old look good. There's just this really big disconnect. I always say to my assistants, 'I can't wear this to Trader Joe's.'"

That is also probably something many top fashion editors don't look for.

President Obama Has Not Gotten Any Better at Throwing a Baseball

President Obama is kind of funny as an athlete. He seems to be more than proficient at basketball and plays plenty of golf, but put a bowling ball or a baseball in his hands and he becomes this awkward, uncoordinated mess. This phenomenon was on full display at the season opener for the Washington Nationals earlier today, where Obama, to a mix of cheers and boos, threw out the ceremonial first pitch. You may recall that at the All-Star Game last summer, Obama failed to reach the plate with his first pitch. That wasn't the problem this time. Nope, the issue with this pitch was not distance, but accuracy. A total and utter lack of accuracy. Also, was that a triumphant fist pump at the end, or a "Darn it, I missed the strike zone by fifteen feet" fist pump?

South Korean Billy Elliots: They’re Just Like Us!

(Click Photo To See It In Its Full, Times Squarey Glory)

A few minutes ago, myself and two coworkers popped down into hell’s waiting room, or as you visitors refer to it “Times Square,” to throw a handful of change at a barista in exchange for some liquid hot wake-up-and-workey serum. And just who did we happen upon right outside of our office building?

Uh, how about all 4 of the SOUTH KOREAN BILLY ELLIOTS?!?!

Yes, there was a photo shoot, where each adorable Billy did their best Mary Tyler Moore impression in the middle of Cesspool Junction. We snapped the above photo of by far our favorite Billy after he had the black silk growing out of his scalp perfectly gelled into place. Following their NYC mega-tour, these 4 Billy’s will travel back to S.K. to headline the Korean-language version of Billy Elliot. Here is an excerpt:

But in fact it is, as prices for this line top out at $880,000 for the diamond necklace. Sweatpants Trend to Give Those Who ‘Get It’ Feelings of Superiority

Designer sweatpants hit the runways of Alexander Wang and Isabel Marant a couple of years ago. They've since appeared on the runways of Bottega Veneta ($290 to $360), Michael Kors ($995, but they're cashmere), and rag & bone ($255), and made a strong showing for both the spring and fall 2010 seasons. The Wall Street Journal, which has just gotten wind of this trend, is dubious, asking, "Sweatpants with stilettos?" Yes, sweatpants with stilettos.

It's not a perfect trend, but so few are in their incarnation. One trend analyst pointed to leggings. When they came out, everyone thought only fashion riffraff would wear those, and then they became absolutely huge, and prices easily soared to four figures for the best buttery-leather pairs. In the past five years, the paper might have asked: "Leggings with mesh panels?" "Booties with open toes?" "Florals for fall?" Now we can definitively say yes, yes, and yes.

However, the problem with sweatpants is that not everyone gets them. Leggings, open-toed booties, and florals in the snow may look odd at first, but not necessarily inappropriate and ill-mannered.

"You should be aware people perceive sweatpants as workout gear," cautions Daniel Post Senning, moderator of the question-and-answer blog of etiquette experts Emily Post Institute. "Sweatpants will communicate workout wear to the vast majority of people."

This is something we personally experienced the first time we wore sweatpants and heels out almost a year ago. The pants, we later learned, were deemed rude by one or two of our dining companions. Shows what they know! we thought. Just wait till next spring when everyone's wearing them!

Intrigued after seeing a model wearing the Rag & Bone version, Loren Ridinger, a senior vice president for an Internet marketing company in Miami, purchased a few pairs of Alexander Wang sweatpants in December. "It's all about the heels," she says, saying she paired her black sweats with a form-fitting white sweater and black high-heeled ankle booties. "It takes it to a whole new level."

Her husband, James, initially wasn't as sure. "Where are you going with this? You're going to change, right?" he asked when he spied his wife donning her new $265 army-green sweatpants to meet friends at a restaurant. (Mr. Ridinger says he likes the look now.) Ms. Ridinger, who has since taken her new look to other dinners, parties and work, confesses that people sometimes ask her if she's really wearing sweatpants. While some friends and strangers have offered compliments, "I wonder if [others] think it looks weird," she says.

They do, but that's the beauty of the sweatpant: Those who "get it" know they strut on the forefront of style, while those who don't are so behind. A fashionable person loves nothing more than knowing this is what separates them from the masses. And that is why sweats are here to stay.

TMZ Is The Best At Being TMZ: The Tiger Woods Press Conference

If you’re anything like me, you are right at this moment sitting in your boxers, microwaving your lunch, and watching the Tiger Woods press conference on mute.  And let’s face it.  You are a lot like me.

Because you are so much like me, you are also reluctantly visiting the TMZ website and noticing that not only are they live streaming the Tiger Woods press conference, but also LIVE STREAMING ONE OF TIGER WOODS MISTRESSES WATCHING THE PRESS CONFERENCE!

Wow, TMZ.  You really nailed it.  This is what technology was made for.  Back when Galileo invented discovery, he knew one day we’d all watch a porn star watch a guy she slept with answer questions about golf.  And finally.  Here we are.

Here’s A Commercial Where They Trick People Into Smelling Cat Piss And Then The People Are Okay With It

This came on at around 3:30 in the morning when I was watching CNN:

Oh man.  Where are we even going to start with this one?  Oh yeah, the part where they all huff the cat piss.  The lab coat guy is great.  Completely unprompted, he just takes a big whiff of the cat piss, and before the nice blond lady can even start her talk about how you can take a big whiff of the cat piss, this guy is already off to try to get other people to take a big whiff of the cat piss.  AND THEN THEY DO!  Don’t DO that, other people!

And then, of course, you can eat the cat litter.  Because it’s just corn.  So basically what they’re saying is that 15 seconds prior, they had people take big whiffs of what was just cat piss mixed with corn.  Now, I haven’t done any experiments myself, but I’m at least pretty sure that corn and cat piss don’t cancel each other out enough for taking a big whiff of cat piss to be pleasant.

Also, the name of the product is “World’s Best Cat Litter.”  Maybe they should have spent a little more time working on the name and a little less time taking big whiffs of cat piss.

(AP Photo/The Penguin Press)AP - "The End of Wall Street (The Penguin Press, 364 pages, $27.95), by Roger Lowenstein: "The End of Wall Street" is a good book: witty, well-written, heavily researched and often dramatic. But a more accurate title might have been "Mistakes and Misdeeds of American Private Finance Over the Past Few Years and First Attempts to Rectify Them, Which It's Too Soon to Evaluate."

Biggest Pop Culture Controversies: Jennifer Aniston vs. Angelina Jolie

It’s the battle that’s almost single-handedly powered newsstand sales of tabloid magazines for the second half of the last decade. When Brad Pitt divorced Jennifer Aniston in 2005 and quickly took up with the ravenous Angelina Jolie, gossiphounds everywhere found themselves choosing sides. After all, this wasn’t simply a story of a handsome movie star leaving one gorgeous actress for another gorgeous actress; rather, the salacious coverage morphed into a discussion that eventually became a deep-seated exploration of our country’s social mores. Should women sacrifice their careers to have children? At what point is it socially acceptable to begin dating after a divorce? And, most importantly, do men prefer women with light or dark hair?

So, who do you side with in this eternal debate? Remember, without the all-consuming Team Aniston vs. Team Jolie wars of the middle aughts, there never would’ve been an opportunity for you to buy that Team Edward or Team Jacob t-shirt that we know you have hidden in the deepest recesses of your closet. The comment section awaits, people!

Awww, This Clueless Soccer Reporter Is UHHDorable!

Ordinarily, if you cut to a sideline reporter and he just straight-up admitted he had no idea what was going on and hasn’t been watching the game, you’d probably get mad and want him fired, right?

Not when the reporter is this dude, a human incarnation of an adorable puppy who just knocked over your potted plant but looks up at you all happy with it’s tail wagging and you just plum can’t stay mad at that little guy. Awwww, let’s give him a treat!
