Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 6 Apr 2010 | 6:11 am "JKSAH was RGV's idea of love story of a girl from Venus" - Riteish Deshmukh
There are love stories and then there are love stories. So what's so different about Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai? Well, it's the baby born out of Ram Gopal Varma's head of thoughts. A one line idea then executed by writer director Milap Zaveri. Don't get scared. It's not a scary love story. A girl from Venus comes in search for a guy from the Earth. That's a one liner. Got it? So how can there be diversity in a film like JKSAH? The answer is - Riteish Deshmukh. It's not about his comic timings and intelligence as an actor. It's about him doing hundred comic roles and yet be different and loved by all in his hundred and first film. That's Deshmukh. He is a darling. He can make you smile and laugh at the same time. UK's Harrow Observer columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent Devansh Patel gets into a quickie with Riteish to know more about the film, Milap, and Jacqueline of course.
Streets of Mumbai have people asking - Jaane Kahan Se Aaya Hai. This is your solo film after a long long time
I don't think any solo film can be a re-invention by an actor. Yes, it is the truth that after a long time I'm doing a solo film. It just happened that everything fell in place. JKSAH was a solo film I always wanted to be a part of, not that I wasn't offered earlier. I didn't feel that some of the films I got offered were the right kind of solo projects. You need the right kind of an idea first. Milap had that intact.
You are improving as a dancer too.
(Laughs) I won't say much on this question but the fact remains that it's only my choreographers who think that I am a good dancer (laughs).
And how does Boman Irani fit into the film?
It is spooky but the fact that this is the first time we have used an actor as a part of the promotions than in the film. Boman is not a part of the film. We wanted to design a promo with Boman. Even the promo idea was given to us by Ram Gopal Varma. But why not? I requested Boman to be a part of the promo and he agreed.
That's good marketing Riteish
No, I think it's not only about marketing, is it? It's a fresh idea put in to promote your film. Either it could've been someone else. When you have a Boman Irani doing a small part in the promo, it's very easy to relate with for the audience. It was a promo only to convey what the film is all about. Boman is a fantastic actor and there was no one who could've pulled it off like him. You get tricked that he is a part of the film.
Many from the film fraternity think that you always play a safe game. When you do a Rann, that's when you take risks...
Riteish Deshmukh is just an actor. He is not a safe player nor is he a risk taker. My job is to act. As an actor, I agree, that I want to do everything. But the real risk takers are the producers and the directors and the writers. And when they think of casting me, that's another risk too (laughs). For Rann, it was RGV's conviction and belief that I could pull that role off. Yes, Rann was a risk but it paid off well.

She eulogizes, "Kashmir is to me a dreamscape. I want to go back there as soon as possible. I tweeted saying it's completely safe. Forget Switzerland. When we have Kashmir, we don't need to go anywhere else."
There's a rumour that she has been tweeting on Blackberry thereby offending Nokia the cell phone company she endorses.

In Raajneeti, Arjun Rampal is cast as Ranbir Kapoor's zany flamboyant elder brother.
The brotherly camaraderie spilt over from the screen. And the two guys were often seen chilling together on location in Bhopal including playing pranks on Katrina Kaif, though on screen they were required to be emotionally and geographically distanced from one another.
Chortles Arjun, "I don't play the conventional 'Bade Bhaiyya'. It's the toughest role of my career. I had to be larger-than-life but not over-the-top. This man I play is whimsical, flamboyant and audacious. He can do anything. His kid-brother has gone abroad to study. My character has stayed back in India to create his own unpredictable world. He's in own space, though not spaced out. "
Arjun was guided by his director Prakash Jha in interpreting the character. "Rock On which took my career to another level and got me National award was a dream role. I got to play a rock star! This man in Raajneeti is completely alien to me. He's a man who does the unthinkable. Do I expect another National award? No performance can be tailored for recognition."
Arjun will also be doing unthinkable things in Anubhav Sinha's Ra.One where he plays the arch-villain. The main antagonist opposite Shah Rukh Khan, though he isn't required to talk about it. But before that there's Housefull which Arjun says was a laugh riot. "But it also has very emotional moments. As a director, Sajid Khan is so wonderfully clued in to what his actors can do. I worked with Farah and now her brother Sajid. Both were fun."
Such was the joy of working with Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta, Jiah Khan and the whole cast that Arjun has forgotten he injured his back during the shooting of Housefull.
"It was yoga and physiotherapy that helped heal my back completely, "says Arjun Rampal. "I was working out at the gym when I suffered a massive slipped disc. I was required to lose considerable weight so as to not burden my back."
On a more cheerful note Arjun has lately been shooting with Kajol and Kareena Kapoor for Karan Johar's adaptation of Stepmom. He says he enjoyed being sandwiched between two women who light up the screen.
"While Kajol has always been my favourite actress, Kareena is more a buddy. Kareena and I started our careers almost together, so we both bond as colleagues' friends and fans of Kajol."
In Stepmom, Arjun stars as Kajol's husband and Kareena's lover. "It's wonderful to have two such gorgeous actresses as my co-star. But honestly, today I'm confident enough to create my own space in a film."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 6 Apr 2010 | 3:31 am Aishwarya Rai-Akshay Kumar to salute Bollywood couples of 70sIn Vipul Shah's upcoming movie 'Action Replayy' starring Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya will be paying a musical tribute to the Bollywood couples of 70's.Source: merinews: Entertainment News Articles | 6 Apr 2010 | 3:31 am Bruce Springsteen’s affair surfacesAfter Jesse James, looks like Bruce Springsteen’s the next to have an affair. Source: Entertainment - Google News | 6 Apr 2010 | 1:24 am Kumar Taurani feels Vivek will be the new 'Prince' of Bollywood
At a time when most actors believe in multi-hero films, Vivek Oberoi has had the courage to accept PRINCE, a film that's riding on his shoulders. It's a risky situation. If PRINCE works, Vivek would be the new Prince of Bollywood. God forbid, if it doesn't, it would affect Vivek's standing in the industry.
"That's true," PRINCE producer Kumar Taurani admits it's a big gamble, but the veteran film-maker is extremely confident that PRINCE would strike a chord. Says Taurani, "Vivek is an extremely hard-working actor and people will see a new Vivek in PRINCE. He was co-operation personified all through the making of the film. And when I look back, I think Vivek was the right choice for the role."
Taurani has left no stone unturned to give his best to PRINCE. Besides being aggressive on the promotional front, Taurani is also giving the film the best possible release - approx. 1200 screens. "The distributors have indicated that there's tremendous excitement for the film and hence, they've decided to give it a wide release. They feel PRINCE has the potential to strike it big, hence the extensive screens," Taurani reveals.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 6 Apr 2010 | 1:22 am Have Nana & Shahid acted in 'Paathshaala' for free?
Very rarely do you find directors starting a production house and not directing their first film themselves. But that's what Ahmed Khan has done. Having directed LAKEER and FOOL & FINAL, besides being an accomplished choreographer and making the top most stars dance to his tunes, Ahmed decided to write his next film, produce it as well, but not direct it himself. This time, for PAATHSHAALA, Ahmed decided to entrust the directorial reins to Milind Ukey, who had directed an award winning Marathi film earlier.
Knowing Ahmed, one would've expected the top notch choreographer to pen a musical, but not a film based on the educational system, revolving around kids. But there's a story behind it. PAATHSHAALA was 'born' after Ahmed and his wife Shaira [the producer of this film], like every doting parent, decided to zero on the right school for their kids. They desired nothing but the best for their kids and their experiences slowly found their way into Ahmed's script. That's how PAATHSHAALA took shape.
Casting the right names for the film is the next hurdle that every film-maker has to cross, after he finalises the script and when Shahid Kapoor and Nana Patekar, who are close to Ahmed and Shaira, heard about the project, they readily agreed to come on board. But without a price. Rumour has it that both Nana and Shahid have done the film for free, due to their personal equations with Ahmed and Shaira. In turn, Ahmed and Shaira reciprocated the generous gesture by offering gifts to the actors.
"Nana and Shahid have been most supportive and have gone out of their way for PAATHSHAALA, but I wouldn't like to discuss if money changed hands. That's too personal," Shaira says. Agree, personal equations are truly priceless!Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 6 Apr 2010 | 1:19 am Sonam shies away from dad Anil Kapoor on setsThe latest buzz from the tinsel town the father-daughter duo Anil and Sonam Kapoor shy away from one another. With around 20 more days of shooting left for his bio-pic Rakta Charitra on the life of the outlaw-politician Paritala Ravi, Ram Gopal Varma is already thinking of his next film. And what better fodder for filming than the allegedly lurid life of Swami Nityanand?
Ramu doesn't deny that the film's title God & Sex comes in the wake of Dibakar Banerjee's Love Sex Aur Dokha. Says Ramu, "I won't deny that the word sex in a Hindi-film title seemed impossible before Love Sex Aur Dhokha. So to that extent, yes God & Sex is a title that owes its background to the earlier film."
The film would be inspired by the Swami Nityanand sex scandal. But it isn't prompted by Vivek Oberoi, a self-confessed devotee of the Swami and Ramu's close friend currently working in Rakta Charitra.
Smirks Ramu, "Vivek and I haven't been discussing Nityanand or the other god men and their sex lives. But I can't deny God & Sex is inspired by the Swami's escapades. But it's not his sexcapades that intrigue me. It's an image that I saw in the video of the Swami watching Hindi film songs on television. It just struck me that behind closed doors everyone from God men to gun-men is doing the same routine things."
Though the film will be called God & Sex it won't only be about god-men and sex scandals.
Says Ramu, "It's amazing how powerful our country's god-men get in the corridors of power. Whether its politics or sex people like Chandraswami and Nityanand exude power and command a mass following. I remember my aunt had gone to a prayer meeting for Satya Sai Baba. She came back and put up a large photograph of the man. I asked her what prompted her to do so, was she that impressed by his ideas? She said she couldn't follow a word of what he said. 'But so many people can't be wrong', that statement of her's stuck. These god-men generate mass hysteria because they are seen as a direct link with divinity. They are able to cash in on the gullibility, vulnerability and insecurities of the people because we live in desperate times and we need to have some faith to cling to."
God & Sex won't have a lot of sex in it. "How do these god-men manage to get so many women and girls interested in them? My film will dwell on that aspect. But it won't be a sleazy look at their world."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 5 Apr 2010 | 3:48 am Kajol signed up as brand ambassador for Rin
