The actor, who is currently filming his next movie, Guzaarish, with Aishwarya Rai, attended the first edition of the Indian cultural carnival at Media City Amphitheatre.
Hrithik, dressed in a black suit, and with his long curls tied up in a ponytail, seemed pretty calm and composed even as he was interacting this time around as compared to earlier when he disappointed fans by failing to show up for the event's opening night on Thursday.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 5 Apr 2010 | 4:45 am Boman Irani gets candidFrom Golden Bakery to his latest flick in which he plays the lead role. She is not just Hot and Sexy, but also 'Fit' and 'Fabulous'. She is Bipasha Basu, the actress who probably has the hottest body in the world.
In the latest edition of Marie Claire, she spills the beans on all about being sexy, her fitness story etc...
She, in her own words, goes on to say, "Initially, it was very tough. I was taking out one hour every day and suddenly I was a selfish girl who wasn't giving the extra time after work to her family or boyfriend." Commenting on the 'Size Zero', the latest catchword of the industry, Bips opines that, "The size-zero propaganda is disturbing. I prefer to stress on the word fit, not thin." One word of praise goes undoubtedly to this PYT and that's her confession! While many may lie about their eating habits, Bips is one helluva of a gal, who has no qualms in saying "I eat a lot because my fitness is planned that way. Sometimes, I eat more than John!"
Well, if you want to feast your eyes and ears for some more Bips' goodies...jog no further and pick up the latest edition of Marie Claire.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 5 Apr 2010 | 3:51 am "God & Sex is inspired by Swami Nityanand escapades" - Ram Gopal Varma
With around 20 more days of shooting left for his bio-pic Rakta Charitra on the life of the outlaw-politician Paritala Ravi, Ram Gopal Varma is already thinking of his next film. And what better fodder for filming than the allegedly lurid life of Swami Nityanand?
Ramu doesn't deny that the film's title God & Sex comes in the wake of Dibakar Banerjee's Love Sex Aur Dokha. Says Ramu, "I won't deny that the word sex in a Hindi-film title seemed impossible before Love Sex Aur Dhokha. So to that extent, yes God & Sex is a title that owes its background to the earlier film."
The film would be inspired by the Swami Nityanand sex scandal. But it isn't prompted by Vivek Oberoi, a self-confessed devotee of the Swami and Ramu's close friend currently working in Rakta Charitra.
Smirks Ramu, "Vivek and I haven't been discussing Nityanand or the other god men and their sex lives. But I can't deny God & Sex is inspired by the Swami's escapades. But it's not his sexcapades that intrigue me. It's an image that I saw in the video of the Swami watching Hindi film songs on television. It just struck me that behind closed doors everyone from God men to gun-men is doing the same routine things."
Though the film will be called God & Sex it won't only be about god-men and sex scandals.
Says Ramu, "It's amazing how powerful our country's god-men get in the corridors of power. Whether its politics or sex people like Chandraswami and Nityanand exude power and command a mass following. I remember my aunt had gone to a prayer meeting for Satya Sai Baba. She came back and put up a large photograph of the man. I asked her what prompted her to do so, was she that impressed by his ideas? She said she couldn't follow a word of what he said. 'But so many people can't be wrong', that statement of her's stuck. These god-men generate mass hysteria because they are seen as a direct link with divinity. They are able to cash in on the gullibility, vulnerability and insecurities of the people because we live in desperate times and we need to have some faith to cling to."
God & Sex won't have a lot of sex in it. "How do these god-men manage to get so many women and girls interested in them? My film will dwell on that aspect. But it won't be a sleazy look at their world."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 5 Apr 2010 | 3:48 am En Kanmani Priya to be released by JuneThe new movie En Kanmani Priya directed by Ravi Vettivel is scheduled to get released by June middle. Really, this book should not have been titled 'Kaifi & I'. It should have instead been titled 'I, I & I'. Reason? It is hardly about the man in picture, Kaifi Azmi and so much more about his wife Shaukat Kaifi who is actually the woman behind the memoir. One doesn't know whether it was intentional or by chance? One sincerely wants to believe that it was the latter because going by the position that Shaukat Kaifi holds in the world of art and cinema, she didn't require any publicity around her life. She could have perhaps spoken about her life in all the right earnest and honesty but perhaps her thoughts were lost in translation by Naseer Rehman, who is also the woman behind editing the book. But if this was not really the case, then the author of the book is equally to be blamed because it was her responsibility to raise alarm bells the moment focus started shifting on the narrator rather than the subject itself.
Really, for how long can one actually read about the sufferings of a woman who got married more than half a century back and lived in hardships all through her life? It is fine to hear a sad tale to some extent but once the detailing starts getting repetitive page after page, it only exasperates the reader. Worse, when the story being told is entirely from the point of view of the narrator and the subject (Kaifi Azmi) starts missing from the scene mid-way through the book, you know that the plot has been completely lost. Well, literally!
This book was being hailed as the story of a couple which fought against all hardships to survive on its own. It was being hailed as a tale of timeless love. It was touted to be a true love story of the modern times. Well, it all may have been true but none of that really comes across in the printed word. The story of this couple is not just ordinary; it is also narrated in an even ordinary manner that hardly justifies the promise of a dramatic/romantic outing it promised.
There have been couples, there are couples and there would be couples which go through hardships. However, they survive and because they are ordinary mortals, their tales don't make headlines. In case of 'Kaifi & I', there is an obvious aspiration to bring it to that pedestal but the end result only succeeds in putting you off more than bringing it closer to the real life tale. In fact the book only succeeds in establishing one fact that Shaukat really struggle hard to make ends meet despite coming from a richie-rich background. Her whirlwind affair with Kaifi is filmy to say the least and does bring on a smile. However, what follows after marriage only makes one wonder whether it was all one sided since Kaifi was out of action for most part of their liaison.
Again, one feels that this could be attributed to something going truly amiss in the book since it is hard to believe that the man of the house was being inactive for so long. While a progress in his professional career is reasonably well noted (though not quite documented to the fullest), there is a certain hollowness that one evidences in his personal interaction with his wife Shaukat. Moreover, the much fabled love story element is hardly there on paper except for a few light hearted bickering that are shared between the couple. No, one is not expecting 'sher-o-shayari' to fill in the pages here nor was one expecting a Romeo-Juliet tale. But the point here is that if this couple was living a life as ordinary as most people around us, then what really was the special need to have a book written around their lives?
The latter half of the book only slips further as the focus shifts to Shaukat's rise from theatre to films. Her daughter Shaban Azmi's professional rise finds a good mention as well. So is the case with her other friends and relative as well but as stated earlier, the subject in picture - Kaifi Azmi - is nowhere to be seen.
The only place where he does make an appearance is towards the later years of his life when his failing health took a toll on him. Though there are pages dedicated to his illness here, the chapters hardly make for an enticing read. In addition, it was just not a good idea to translate a dozen odd poems and songs written by him into English. One just can't expect similar appreciation when Urdu literature finds a literal translation in any different language.
Well, this is not the least impressive part of the book because what really gets on your nerve is to see practically every fourth page find a mention of money and the value attached to it. Incident after incident is narrated when Kaifis had to survive on miserly conditions with no money at their disposal. Later, even when the family became relatively more well-to-do, there are price tags attached to every item being bought into the house or money spent elsewhere. Really, one didn't quite see much need of that in a book that was supposed to be presented as a memoir around true love.
Now where did the subject disappear?

Source: Entertainment - Google News | 5 Apr 2010 | 3:29 am "I don't want to feel too comfortable" - Deepika Padukone
Deepika Padukone is a young woman who certainly knows what she wants. Honesty is always welcome, especially when it comes to Bollywood folks and Deepika indeed comes across as someone who doesn't believe in projecting a holier than thou or a fake persona for herself. She isn't brash, rude or outspoken in a way that would go against the Bollywood diktats. However, she doesn't hide her emotions either when it comes to her journey towards bigger success in the world of cinema.
"I definitely want the fire in me to keep going. I am not quite keen on resting right now. I have always maintained that working in films has been an ongoing learning experience for me. This is why I don't intend to sit down, relax and feel that since the going has been good, let me take it easy. No ways; I don't want to feel too comfortable about my movies stint. I would rather work hard. Thankfully, people's attitude towards me has been very good in the industry so I have no complaints around my work at all", states Deepika in a perfect tone.
She understands that after milestone affairs like Om Shanti Om and Love Aaj Kal, the challenge is not just to meet the high expectations that audience and industry have from her. Instead, the challenge is to keep her eyes wide open at every moment, sort out all the noise around her, go with her inner conscience, not be overtly choosy and pick the best of projects which are coming her way.
"It is just a beginning for me and not the end of the road. However, it doesn't make sense for me to begin celebrating so soon; after all I still have a lot more to achieve. I don't like to tom-tom about my success", says Deepika, "Love Aaj Kal was just my fourth film and it was a great feeling when it did so well. Having said that, I couldn't sit down and say that I was satisfied. I had to continue picking up more and better films and make the best of the choices coming my way."
Thankfully for her, it has always been a luxury of riches for her ever since her debut effort with none other than Shah Rukh Khan made box office history a little over two years ago. Bachna Ae Haseeno, Chandni Chowk To China, Love Aaj Kal and Karthik Calling Karthik followed and though her overall success rate has been over fifty percent, calculations indicate that it is bound to go higher up in months to follow.
"Well, I should not be myself talking about these things unless being asked, right", comments Deepika, "Today I am doing an interview with you and when you are asking me about my success, I am acknowledging that", smiles Deepika who is now looking at a potential block buster in the form of Housefull.
With Ashutosh Gowariker's Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey (Abhishek Bachchan), Kunal Kohli's Break Ke Baad (Imran Khan) and Yash Raj Films' (tentatively titled) Lafange Parinde (Neil Nitin Mukesh) also in the pipeline, it indeed looks like a 'houseful' innings ahead for Deepika Padukone.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 5 Apr 2010 | 3:25 am SRK sets pulses racing in Malaysia! - Rediff
