"After Yuvvraaj...I need a big HIT" - Subhash Ghai

Subhash Ghai He is known as the 'Showman of Bollywood' and has been in this industry for over 3 decades. He is none other than Subhash Ghai, filmmaker of blockbusters such as Hero, Ram Lakhan, Karma, Saudagar, Khalnayak, Pardes and Taal to name a few. His production house Mukta Arts is now ready with its latest release Right Yaaa Wrong that stars the lethal combination of Sunny Deol and Irrfan Khan for the first time ever. As the film opens across cinema halls today, we caught up with Mr. Ghai and spoke to him about this edge of the seat thriller. Is Mukta Arts producing or presenting Right Yaaa Wrong? Mukta Arts has funded the movie as world right controller and are the distributors all over India. We are a public company and we do enter into joint ventures with various production houses. In the past too, we have had such deals with Anil Kapoor, Satish Kaushik etc. Right Yaaa Wrong is a thriller directed by debutant director Neerraj Pathak and it is presented by Mukta Arts. Right Yaaa Wrong is a permanent question in every human being's life. We always question our actions whether it is right or wrong, be it legal, moral, ethical, or social. What is the significance of the title Right Yaaa Wrong to the context of the film? Right Yaaa Wrong is a permanent question in every human being's life. We always question our actions whether it is right or wrong, be it legal, moral, ethical, or social. We all take Right and Wrong actions knowingly or unknowingly at some point or the other. Today this debate of Right Yaaa Wrong has taken a whole new meaning hence we thought it would be the apt title. This is the first time that Mukta Arts has worked with actors like Sunny Deol, Irrfan Khan and Konkona Sen Sharma. How has the experience been? The experience has been wonderful. They are real and natural actors and bring a new breeze in acting in Right Yaaa Wrong ...You have to see it to believe it. What made you a fund a thriller like Right Yaaa Wrong considering comedies are the flavor of the season? I don't think so. People love thrillers. Race was a thriller which did well, even Ghajini was an action thriller. Personally, I liked the script of Right Yaaa Wrong and had full faith in director Neerraj Pathak's abilities since he has written some good films like Pardes and Apne. The bedroom scenes that you are referring to were always part of the script. Eesha had read the script and was fully aware of this. So there is no question of her being upset. Is it true that Eesha Koppikhar was upset about retaining some her steamy bedroom scenes in the film that she shot before her marriage? Both Eesha and Konkona have given a tremendous performance. The bedroom scenes that you are referring to were always part of the script. Eesha had read the script and was fully aware of this. So there is no question of her being upset. The film is releasing on March 12th - the day when the IPL commences. Do you think it will hamper the business? IPL will be there but people's love for watching good films is never-ending. No IPL can stop a good film from running to packed houses. Subhash Ghai What are some of Mukta Arts' future projects? We have Hello Darling releasing next, and there is also a romantic comedy called Paschim Express-With Love that is made by all the actors and technicians of Whistling Woods International. What about your next directorial venture? When does that start? I am still scripting. I just finished the first draft but have to make a few more changes. In my last film Yuvvraaj, I focused more on the visuals part of it which didn't work with the audience. This time around I have to be extra careful. I need a Big Hit. It will take me around 6 months more to finish scripting. I plan to start sometime during Diwali this year On a closing note will you like to direct Sunny Deol in one of your films? Surely…If I have a right script for him then why not? Sunny has given a mature and intense performance in Right Yaaa Wrong and he is sure to surprise you with his acting.

Abhishek Bachchan's gift to Hide & Seek director Shawn Arranha

Abhishek Bachchan Every time Abhishek Bachchan's name is mentioned, the Hide & Seek director Shawn Arranha goes misty-eyed. Shawn says he cannot forget what Abhishek has done for him. Shawn adds, "Getting acknowledged by Abhishek meant so much to me, I can never forget his gesture. I've used the video camera for everything that I've done so far including Hide & Seek." Shawn has used Abhishek's gift to shoot all his short films. "I even shot some flashback portions and the film on the making of Hide & Seek with Abhishek's camera." Shawn now considers the camera his lucky charm. "I don't think I'll ever make a film without using it." A special screening of Hide & Seek is being arranged for Abhishek and Aishwarya as soon as they get the time. But will the pair like a horror film? "Hide & Seek is not a horror film. It's a thriller," asserts Shawn. We shall see.

"I wouldn't have done Atithi... if I hadn't identified with it" - Konkona Sen

Konkona Sen Sharma Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge? boasts of a single line plot which is about a visitor (Paresh Rawal) who extends his stay beyond the comfort limits of the hosts (Ajay Devgn, Konkona Sen). For a film with such a subject, one wonders if it is indeed difficult to maintain a certain graph of humour all through the length of the film. Doesn't it risk turning monotonous after a point in time? "This isn't really the case only in Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge? You pick up any plot driven film and getting the treatment perfect for the entire duration would always be a difficult task", defends Konkona who is seeing quite some appreciation coming her way ever since the release of the film, "See, what we have in Atithi... is a situation and if the writer and director are good in their job then they can make it work. Now it is for all to see that Ashwani (Dhir) indeed has really done a good job here." While Atithi.... is a situational comedy, extension of a story with various sub plots seems relatively easier in a conventional film, say for example a love story. "But then there also you would have to keep the mood of continuous romance going right through its duration! Now how do you do that?" questions Konkona, "Any story needs to have a beginning, middle and end and Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge? is no different. There are a lot of funny moments that could be incorporated in the script since the film is very identifiable." Extending her logic behind the 'identification' factor that Atithi... comes with, Konkona states, "A large part of Mumbai population is migrant, and there are millions out there who come and make this place as their own. I wouldn't have done the film if I hadn't identified with it. But then aren't we all associated with so many people who have left their own native places behind to make Mumbai their home?" One can pretty much sense in a conversation with Konkona that she is pretty much on the same lines as the screen image that she is carrying i.e. being an epitome of a thinking woman. This is the reason why it is futile to hunt for any quotable quotes just for an effect or an anecdote which is shared just for the print. She keeps it all plain and simple, just as one would have always expected from her, and maintains her 'let's-stick-to-the-business' stance. Konkona Sen Sharma This is why one moves on to a the subject of the film, an unwanted guest, and questions Konkona if she has ever faced an unfriendly encounter with an unwanted guest like 'chachaji' (Paresh Rawal) coming in. "On the contrary I am very happy when there are people at my place. Since I live alone in Mumbai, any number of guests is most welcome", says Konkona in a tone which indeed sounds pretty genuine. Meanwhile, she has a lot going for her as this week will see the release of her long delayed Right Yaaa Wrong. What are her expectations from the film, given the fact that its promos have been coming on and off while the dated look is also prevalent in every frame? "Well, such things happen in movies. I have seen the promos but not the entire film. I just hope that the film sees a good release", is all that Konkona is willing to comment on the subject. This is not all for Konkona as she is all set to be quite active on the Bollywood front in weeks to come. "That's true. After Atithi... and Right Yaaa Wrong, there are Vinay Shukla's Mirch and Rituparno Ghosh Sunglass coming up. Then I have also done a film called Iti Mrinalini with my mother (Aparna Sen). There is a lot happening on the career front and it is nice to be busy", signs off Konkona.

"Shawn never allowed me to see myself in monitor after canning the shot" - Amruta Patki

In this year's release Chance Pe Dance, Shahid Kapoor's character was shown as a struggler who doesn't have enough money to decide about his next meal. Romanticizing the entire struggle around him, this character embraces it all before success comes falling in his lap. Now that was reel life. Cut to the real world and debutant Amruta Patki may well have a similar story to tell. Despite a beauty pageant background to her and a Miss India-Earth title in her kitty, Amruta isn't willing to forget her humble middle class upbringing. For a girl who self confessedly had to take a call between picking up 'vada pav' off the street versus taking an auto back home, Amruta has come a long way to make her debut as a leading lady in Hide & Seek. In a candid conversation with Joginder Tuteja, Amruta tells all about her journey so far, the route she has decided to take in Bollywood and her conduct that doesn't allow people to exploit her. Amruta, you have entered the industry with no filmy background. How has the journey been so far? God has been really kind. Having said that, I have really worked hard to get into a position where I am today. See, I come from a middle class family and have seen the days when I used to go for auditions with Rs. 20 in my pocket. I have seen the days when I used to go for auditions with Rs. 20 in my pocket. This is pretty much reminiscent of Shahid Kapoor's story as well, both in real and reel life (in Chance Pe Dance)... Oh really, I didn't know that (smiles). But really, I have seen those days and can empathise with the entire situation. This is why today I am grateful to God and also my parents to have given me so much support. See, everyone in my family is either a banker or an engineer. My parents and rest of the family may not be conservative but they are very traditional for sure. In fact for them my doing Miss India was such a big thing as well. This is why today they are very emotional about all that is happening in my Bollywood career. Amruta Patki They must have heard about the horror stories about Bollywood that are narrated time and again. For a newcomer like you who is starting it all on her own, weren't they apprehensive? The biggest fact here is that they have faith in me. They have allowed me to do whatever I want because they believe in me. The kind of upbringing that they have given me, they know that I can't go wrong. As for me, for someone who has seen the worse times possible, I am prepared for anything. I am mentally quite strong so I just laugh it all away thinking how worse could it be than what I have already seen. For someone who has seen the worse times possible, I am prepared for anything. It appears that yours has been quite an eventful journey so far. Is there any challenge in particular that you have faced in the industry so far? I prefer to remember the positive side of the affairs and the fact is that I have been very lucky so far. Be it the ramp shows or any other modelling assignment, I have always met nice people. Nobody has tried to exploit me or cheat me. Shawn Arranha never allowed me to come and see myself in the monitor after canning the shot You must indeed be lucky... More than being lucky, I strongly believe that people treat you the way you conduct yourself. Perhaps I held myself quite strongly and didn't give anyone the kind of vibes that it would have allowed them to take advantage of me. When I say this, it may seem that I am being a little too over confident but then that's not a fact. I just have been very careful and attentive to things. I am sure it must have been quite memorable when you must have seen yourself on the monitor for the first time. Arrey kahan, my director (Shawn Arranha) never allowed me to come and see myself in the monitor after canning the shot. In fact I saw myself for the first time only when I had gone to the studios to dub for the film. See, whenever you are doing something for camera, you have a secret imagination around how it would all look on screen. I too had my own imaginations and this is why it was such a fantastic feeling on seeing myself for the first time on screen. Finally I felt that it was worth investing time and energy for the film. Amruta Patki For a newcomer like you who has just started off, there is a field wide open to explore as far as professional outing is concerned. What is it in your personal life that keeps you occupied? I am such a workaholic and I try to learn something which is new. Even as a child I don't remember a single summer vacation when I wasted my time. I have done kick boxing; I do swimming and have won so many awards there. I know Indian classical music and do riyaz on a regular basis. Also, one thing that I have started doing now is watch movies on a regular basis. I was not a movie buff earlier but now I am doing a lot of catching up. I love being online and finding out things from Google. I love travelling and make sure that whenever I have time, I go for trekking. Also, needless to say, I spend a lot of time with my family and friends. With so much happening in your life, haven't you found space for that special someone? (Laughs) It is for this very reason that I don't have a special someone in my life. Life is so packed and at this moment all I am thinking of is my film career. Yes, I am single but not quite looking forward to mingle.

Rajshri revives Tansen; hunt begins for main lead

Abhishek Bachchan A year back, Tansen was a hot project in the making. While Barjatyas from Rajshri Productions were backing this mega budget project, Satish Kaushik was already on board as the director of the film. Though there was no official confirmation on the main lead, it was being whispered in the industry circles that Abhishek Bachchan had already been sounded for the much coveted role. However, post Karzzzz, Delhi 6 and Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi, all seemed to be forgotten about Tansen. Abhishek Bachchan had double trouble with Drona followed by Delhi 6. Karzzzz was a shocker for Satish Kaushik because in spite of so much hype, it was the remake factor that went against it. As for Barjatyas, their small budgeted Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi (Sonu Sood, Esha Kopikar) didn't quite turn out to be another Vivah and folded up rather soon. Tansen seemed to be a talk of the past and it was more or less apparent that it was shelved for good. This is where a pleasant surprise comes in with Satish Kaushik coming out of a brief hibernation (as a director) and announcing that the epic musical drama is still pretty much on. Explaining the delay in the film coming on floors, Satish Kaushik says, "Tansen was a big budgeted film and we wanted to give it the best possible platform. We could have got it earlier but then there was a big slap of recession during last couple of years. However, the film never stopped and we continued to work hard on the script." As things stand now, the script is being written by Irshad Kamil, popular lyricist who has written number of chartbuster songs for composer Pritam. As per Kaushik, Barjatyas are gung go about the project and taking active interest in giving Tansen the best shape possible so that it lives up to the great expectations that audience has from a character and film of this stature. "Raj (Barjatya) Babu and Sooraj Barjatya are sitting on the script sessions with us from Day One", says Kaushik, "In fact there have been days when we have worked on it for more than 12 hours at stretch. They are totally involved in the making of Tansen and even though Sooraj isn't directing it, he is taking active interest in the film. In fact just a few days back, we spoke again on taking the film forward. I hadn't announced any new film after Karzzzz since my time was completely eaten up by Tansen. Rest assured, Tansen is pretty much on and certainly not shelved." When the film first came in news, Satish Kaushik was heard as stating - "Abhishek is someone who can play the role well as he also has a certain star status and fan following. He has the look and intensity. He also has the dialogue delivery of his father. And we do need a Tansen who thinks in Hindi and talks the language fluently." Even spokesperson from Rajshri had admitted that Abhishek was approached for the role. He had said, "Yes, we have spoken to Abhishek about Tansen and he has agreed to sit with us for the narration once our script is done. We are still busy scripting the film. " So coming to the million dollar question, is Abhishek Bachchan finally playing the role of Tansen? There is a shocker in store as Satish Kaushik goes on record to state that the young man hasn't been finalised for the film yet. "No, Abhishek is not confirmed for Tansen. There is an entire rethinking being done on the film's cast. Why just Abhishek, nobody has actually been decided and formalised to star in Tansen. We would be casting in a couple of months and it would be there for all to know then." With probability of Abhishek featuring as Tansen seemingly quite low, one wonders whom do Satish Kaushik and Barjatyas have in mind for the title role. There are only a handful of actors who could fit in well when it comes to a period film. Add to that the genre being musical and the film's scale being high, there are further limitations that are set when it comes to making a project viable. Watch this space for more!

Hollywood calling for Shah Rukh Khan; to do a film with Leonardo Di Caprio

Shah Rukh Khan, Leonardo Di Caprio The big news Now this development really gets the antennas stand right up with all attention reserved for what next is really in the offing. Believe it or not but a major Hollywood-Bollywood collaboration is right up in the anvil and two of the bigger superstars from different ends of the world are all set to share screen space. The film in question is Xtrme City and the men in question - hold your breath - Shah Rukh Khan and Leonardo Di Caprio. Yes, even though all of this seemed like a dream till a few years back, it is indeed turning out to be a reality since work is progressing on brisk speed to get the scripting in place for the film. There is quite some action on pre-production front as well and Xtrme City is looking positive at going on floors by end of 2010. If that indeed happens, Shah Rukh can well be expected to be really busy all through 2010 and 2011 with Ra 1 and the sequel of Don required to be wrapped up before Xtrme City starts taking a shape. How it happened Informs our source, "Not many know but when Shah Rukh visited Berlin for the premiere of My Name Is Khan, his agenda also included a groundbreaking movie deal. He was power-dining with Hollywood bigwigs like director Martin Scorsese and screenplay writer Paul Schrader over the project which is touted to star Bollywood's reigning superstar with Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo Di Caprio. Karan Johar, David Weisman and screenplay writer Mushtaq Shiekh were present at the meeting." The film doesn't really come as a complete piece of surprise though. Yes, Shah Rukh's presence has raised quite a few eyebrows though one could have expected to see this coming since his close friend and associate Mushtaq Shiekh had already been commissioned to write the film. The director was finalised as Paul Schrader, the same man who had made Robert De Niro come up with a career defining act in Taxi Driver. On the other hand, Mushtaq has made Shah Rukh Khan go over the top as never before in Om Shanti Om. When Paul Schrader had earlier visited India in 2008, he had indeed talked about collaborating on a project that would marry Indian ethos with Western sentiment. His Xtrme City was touted to combine the cinematic traditions of both Bollywood and Hollywood and provide wholesome cross-culture entertainment. For this purpose, he had written the film along with Mushtaq who does come with a super strong Shah Rukh connection. In the past, he has authored bestselling biographies for Shah Rukh Khan like 'SRK: Still Reading Khan' and 'Shah Rukh Can'. He has also written books like 'The Making of Asoka', 'Devdas - The Indian Hamlet' and 'The Making of Om Shanti Om'. Of course his claim to fame are screenwriting credits for Om Shanti Om, Billu and Shah Rukh's under production Ra 1. At that time, another piece of announcement had stated - "This groundbreaking production will showcase a Bollywood mega-star and a Hollywood movie-star sharing top billing in a major motion picture. The film is destined for both the subcontinent and international markets. In fact, Xtrme City is already in the process of casting the two star leads. The film is going to be a hugely mounted affair with a multi million budget." The superstars However, not many would have assumed that the two leads would be none other than Shah Rukh Khan and Leonardo Di Caprio. Meanwhile, Paul Schrader had been hinting all along that he would work only with the biggest Bollywood star and that is why he was keen to sign Shah Rukh for the leading role. It was also quite clear that if the two actors indeed sign up on the dotted line to star in the multi-million project, both Shah Rukh and Leonardo Di Caprio would get top billing. Xtrme City will be an action-thriller set in Mumbai covering the criminal underbelly of the city. When contacted, Mushtaq Shiekh said, "It's too premature to discuss the casting of the film. But yes, Shah Rukh and Leonardo did meet up in Berlin. The meeting was just a casual one; they were there for the premiere of their films Shutter Island and My Name Is Khan respectively. The highlight of the meeting was Karan Johar who entertained everyone with absolutely delightful Bollywood trivia." On the other hand Paul Schrader, who has directed 18 films, confirms that the Hollywood-Bollywood collaboration is certainly on. "I hadn't thought about working in India", says the man who has previously worked in Japan, Italy, Romania, Israel and Morocco. However, now I see Bollywood as the next great frontier. Xtrme City is a cross-cultural entertainment that merges the cinematic traditions of Bollywood and Hollywood. I am indeed excited to make a film which is accessible and meaningful to both Indian and American cultures." Adds Mushtaq, "Working on Xtrme City with a master screenwriter like Paul Schrader has been exhilarating and a marvellous illumination for me. He is tireless. We kept at it until achieving a perfect emotional balance for our story. We wanted to reveal the best of each world in surprising, entertaining, inspiring ways. That's what I like about Paul's screenplay. Ours is a film that never takes either culture for granted." The Martin Scorcese factor Meanwhile another big name, Martin Scorcese, too turned out to be quite a handful in this meeting that saw Shah Rukh Khan, Leonardo Di Caprio, Karan Johar, Paul Schrader and Mushtaq Shiekh coming together. The man who has directed Leonardo in Shutter Island, The Departed, The Aviator and Gangs of New York in the past is pretty abreast with the going-ons in Bollywood as well. "I was amazed by how Martin Scorsese was completely in sync with all that is happening in Bollywood. His knowledge about old Hindi films left me shocked", says Mushtaq in awe, "In that one room, seeing such gigantic movie business folks was almost like seeing a mega Hollywood-Bollywood movie live. Their interest in Bollywood cinema is just as animated as how we marvel at their film culture." The release Adds the source, "The film is aiming for a late 2010 shoot in Mumbai, New York and the Persian Gulf. The makers are hoping for a 2011 release. As with many Bollywood films, Xtrme City will integrate thriller, drama and comedy elements. The movie will be family-friendly though there would certainly be elements of violence. However, sex will be downplayed, though there would be quintessential song and dance routines." Well, My Name Is Khan has already earned its stripes in America by being declared the highest grossing 'specialty film' of 2010. Though this tag does make one look at the overall success a little more closely, the term 'specialty' may get a whole new perspective if he succeeds in pulling off a casting-coup. Also, it is now obvious that Shah Rukh's hush-hush meeting in Berlin will spark off a new interest in Bollywood stars actually managing to make a Hollywood breakthrough. Will Shah Rukh lead the pack with Xtrme City? From what it seems, both Shah Rukh and Leonardo Di Caprio might be pulling off one of the biggest movie collaboration in recent times. What we have heard is just the tip of the iceberg! About Xtrme City: Xtrme City is an action thriller set in the brutal, impenetrable, criminal orbit of Mumbai, India. Curtis Hawkley, a former U.S. Ranger, is obliged to return to Mumbai when his father-in-law's youngest daughter is kidnapped by a powerful underworld Don. In order to save the girl he must first find his old friend Raj Rangan, an Indian Special Forces Commando who became a crime world enforcer. After reuniting and saving the girl, the two men are drawn deeper into the "bhai" underworld of Mumbai than they expected. Sense of duty compels them to take on a system of corruption, revenge, and familial obligations.

After The Hurt Locker, David Bryan's next is Abbas Tyrewala's film

David Bryan The Best Picture Oscar winner The Hurt Locker's victory came as no surprise to some big Bollywood names, specifically, Abbas Tyrewala, John Abraham and Madhu Mantena. David Bryan, Supervising Art Director on The Hurt Locker who was widely praised for his life like replication of the battle scarred streets of Iraq in Jordan, is the Production Designer for Abbas Tyrewala's next venture, starring John Abraham. The really interesting story however, is that David's only managed to convince Abbas to join his project as a Production Designer after showing Abbas footage from The Hurt Locker and how he'd recreated the streets of Iraq in the award winning film. David has on several occasions impressed Abbas with his detail and precision in Production Design. Looks like the Abbas is going to every extent recruiting genuinely talented people to mount this film (earlier titled 1-800 Love) on a large beautiful canvas. It may be recalled that during the shooting of the film in London, the production had managed to block off traffic completely on Tower Bridge for 3 nights and had shot several scenes with even boat traffic on the Thames being restricted! David's first release after The Hurt Locker is to be Abbas's film, which is now under post-production. Speaking on this film, David said, "We wanted to portray the real London that is rarely seen, it's an amazing city with very diverse locations. In particular we were looking for a real iconic Studio Apartment for our lead actor John Abraham. Later in autumn, the climax to the film grew into an epic 4 nights filming on Tower Bridge with John doing his own stunts, a real star!" He went on to further add, "Working with a Bollywood crew was a great experience, much more than on a similar British film." Expectations are already high from Abbas's new film, coming as it does on the heels of the scripting and debut directorial magic that he displayed in the smash hit Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. Now with a key member of the history making Oscar Best Picture winner responsible for creating the look and feel of his film, the expectations are only bound to grow.

Rana Daggubati wants to remake Telugu film Leader in Hindi

Rana Daggubati Rana Daggubati who makes his Hindi debut in Rohan Sippy's Dum Maro Dum wants to bring his Telugu political blockbuster Leader to Mumbai with subtitles. Says Rana, "The political message of the film is definitely not restricted to Andhra Pradesh. I'd like to remake the film into Tamil and then maybe Hindi. After I do Rohan Sippy's film in Hindi, I'd like to do Leader in Hindi." Explains Rana, "We've tried to show the difference between a politician and a leader. We need responsible leaders. I play an honest leader, a Chief Minister. We've heard so many CMs being sworn in. We didn't know what their oath means. From the time we were children we read about Sardar Patel, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Mahatma Gandhi. Today my 5-year old nephew is studying about the same national leaders. Where are the political heroes of and for the new generation?" Says Rana Daggubati, "My role is actually an amalgamation of a whole lot of younger politicians from Rahul Gandhi to Barak Obama. For months my laptop would be open showing profiles of international politicians. Locally my reference points were Rahul Gandhi, Milind Deora and Sachin Pilot. Today's youth - and I mean people from the age of 19 to 25 - is fully knowledge of present-day politics. They're becoming more and more politically savvy. It's a beautiful direction in which we're heading. I thought the youngsters my age would enjoy the love story. But they connect more with the politics in Leader." Apparently, a song 'Maa Telugu Talli' in Leader had to be changed because of the current political disturbances in Andhra Pradesh. Rana plays it safe by saying, "There were some rumours about removing the song. We did alter it during the shooting because we understand the sensitivity of the issue."

Rajeev Khandelwal to get engaged to girlfriend Manjiri Kamtikar

Rajeev Khandelwal Given a choice Rajeev Khandelwal was happy being attached to his girlfriend Manjiri Kamtikar because he knew marriage or not, he was in love with her for keeps and he didn't need any formal announcement to prove it. But the engagement to be held in May is being done to comply with the lady's parent's wishes... Says Rajeev, "Manjiri and her parents come from a world far removed from cinema and the entertainment industry. They don't understand the workings of Bollywood and their knowledge of what goes on here is based on what they read and see on television. You can't blame them for thinking actors are not to be trusted." Manjiri's parents were anxious that he make the association formal. Gallantly, Rajeev volunteered an engagement ceremony. Says Rajeev, "But I don't know how it got out. I haven't discussed it with anyone. Manjiri's parents or my parents in all their innocence must have shared the information with some people." Rajeev enjoys the distance that his girlfriend provides from the goings-on in the industry. "She works in an ad agency and is far removed from show world. She keeps me grounded. I'm looking forward to spending my life with her."
