Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 4 Mar 2010 | 6:47 am Shekhar and Adhyayan Suman in remake of Hollywood film Awake
It's a dream of every father to finally see his son stand shoulder to shoulder on the same platform, and we are sure that right now Shekhar Suman is feeling the same way with his home production starring him and son Adhyayan.
The film in question is a remake of the 2007 Hollywood film Awake, with the story based on the lines of a romantic thriller. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama exclusively, Adhyayan says, "Yes we are doing a home production, but right now it is too early to talk about it. Rohit Jagraj will be directing the film with dad and me in it; however the lead actress hasn't yet been decided, since we are kind of looking for someone new and fresh. So I guess once we finish scripting, dad and Rohit will look into the casting."
Revealing the time when the film would hit the floors Adhyayan says, "We are looking at completing the scripting stage and hitting the floors by this July, as we would love to have it release later this year."
"In the film the two of us are not playing father and son, in fact we are friends. While dad is a surgeon; I play his friend who eventually becomes his patient too", signs off Adhyayan.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 4 Mar 2010 | 6:45 am Johnny Depp wants to be a winemaker

Road, Movie is more subtle" - Abhay Deol
He broke every existing cliché, whether it was about playing safe with scripts or the stereotype about the good guy being the hero. He was part of the growing and exploring New Age Cinema. Abhay Deol, who always took the road less travelled, took off on a trip when he fancied one and never believed in being the follower, is hitting the screens shortly with his next film Road Movie. Chandni Dev at Bollywood Hungama finds out about this Journey undertaken by the rebellious Deol which is bound to traverse off the beaten track.
You've been away for a while, what's going on?
Uhh...I like to take my breaks once in a while you know, it's good to do that.
You're fans have been waiting, and with Road Movie coming up, they're expecting you to give them something different all over again. Are you ready to face the expectations?
It's as different as different can get. I shot Dev D, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye, and Road Movie back to back. As different as Dev D is from Oye Lucky, same way Road Movie is different from Oye lucky as well as Dev D. So the effort is there. As people are expecting me to be different from my earlier films, I am sure they are not going to be disappointed because it is different for sure. When you watch the movie you'll understand what I mean.
Was there any personal reason you took this journey up?
Well I like travelling and as the name suggests it is a Road Movie so it's on the road. I like the idea of being just out there in Rajasthan, away from civilisation. It's not shot necessarily in Jaisalmer or Jodhpur, though we did shoot a bit in Jodhpur but most of it was out in the dessert and that idea was intriguing, not only that but the plot of the film was nice. Dev was somebody I wanted to work with and he had a great team, so yea there are many reasons why I did this film.
Tell us what's your character in the film like?
He's from a small town, a city you can say, pretty urban, but not a metropolis like Mumbai or, like Delhi or anything. He's somebody who just wants to be out there, experience new adventures, and maybe have a different life. But he is not a rebellious sort of a guy, he is not someone who will stand up for what he really wants to do, and fight for it...No! Infact he is someone who is humble and towered down by the way he has been raised. That is what I really liked about the character. Without being rebellious, without being in your face, he finds an opportunity for an adventure and takes it up.
So what is your favourite part of the film?
My favourite part of the film?
Anything, a scene, or act that you hadn't done before?
There are a few out there but I wouldn't put any favourites between a film. It's all part of the process, the journey, one thing leads to another, anyways even if I were to pick one I would give the story away...
Hmm...I was hoping you would..
< Laughs/> nice try....
So any challenges that you faced on the set or was it an easy breezy ride?
It wasn't easy....filming never is. Being in Rajasthan was the biggest and hardest thing by itself...
How was it working with Tannishtha?
Awesome! She is really cool. She is a good actor and she is very focussed. I on the other hand tend to play around a little bit you know. I always tried to tease her. I would see her getting into the character, into the mood five minutes before the shot and I would make faces and tease her, and ended up finding myself distracted. So it really was lovely working with her. Just an amazing actor I would say. Faisal is the kid in the film and he is going to be the find of the movie, he was so good, people are going to discover a new kid who is a great actor as well.
But well, Indian audience loves drama... what kind of reaction are you expecting?
I hope they react well, like you asked me earlier if it's going to be different from my other films because people expect it to be, I was like 'okay! If that's what they are going to come in to watch they won't be disappointed' But on one level it's a very subtle film, in its humour, in its drama, in every way it's subtle. Something we are not used too, even in our food we are used to strong flavouring, that's our basic roots. We as a culture like to indulge. That's one thing I am hoping people appreciate, because it is a really good film.
Our audiences want it over the top....
Yea! But there is a growing audience for subtlety, I wouldn't say there isn't. Umm...you know like Dev D was an easy sell because there was nothing subtle about it, it was more out there, it was more stylish. This film isn't relying on any of those things. It's a simple story and it's beautifully told, and I hope that goes down well with the audiences here. It has worked with the global audiences.
What's after Road Movie?
After Road, its Aisha...
Leaning towards direction anytime...

Ranbir is the present face of Pepsi, which is perfect as Ranbir is the only guy in the industry who's known to make it big in such a short time. His easy smile, youthfulness, charming persona, and lively spirit is famous with the ladies and the men alike. He projects Pepsi belief with conviction. The freshness and audacious self belief that the brand stands for is exactly what Ranbir is popular for. Presently shooting for his next film Anjaana Anjaani in Los Angeles, Ranbir was also required to do the
upcoming commercial of Pepsi that has new tag line Youngistaan ka Wow! Not wanting to waste time, the crew flew down to L.A. to shoot the TVC with the young
actor in a mansion there.
The TVC that would be coming out shortly highlights the Wow factor of the youth. The film revolves around Ranbir, who's playing a butler, chasing the Pepsi bottle that has been reserved for the President and how he uses his smartness to get it past the security... pretty audacious isn't it? Ranbir says ''For me Youngistaan ka Wow reflects what we see around us, the youth making things happen, achieving things their own way and on their own terms like 'Sid' in the movie Wake Up Sid.''
We think Ranbir couldn't have put it aptly.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 4 Mar 2010 | 4:41 am Uttar Pradesh dance troupe thrills Trinidad audienceA scintillating performance by an Uttar Pradesh-based dance troupe has enthralled the audience at this Trinidad and Tobago capital.Source: Entertainment News | 4 Mar 2010 | 4:26 am Bullock on brink of bizarre double at OscarsSandra Bullock is on the brink of a rare double this weekend which could see her become the first actress to win an Oscar and a slightly less-coveted Razzie award in the space of 24 hours.Source: | 4 Mar 2010 | 4:25 am I've followed Gandhi's maxim: ShakiraColombian singer Shakira, who was awarded a medal by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) for her work to promote social justice and the advancement of children worldwide, says she has followed Mahatma Gandhi's maxim.Source: Entertainment News | 4 Mar 2010 | 3:54 am Soldier to sue Hurt Locker's distributorsMakers of The Hurt Locker are in the middle of a controversy. Vipul Shah's schedules for Action Replayy seem to be going awry for no fault of anybody's. First it was his principal actors' choc-a-block schedules that delayed the film. Now when the film had just two more songs to be filmed, Vipul is again left high and dry. And it's not his to question why. Because this time it's the weather gods who are to blame.
The song was to be shot in Manali. "And who would have thought there would be snow in Manali in February? It has never happened before!" marvels Vipul. "We had planned the whole song schedule for a time when we were sure there would be no inclement weather. When we got to know there was heavy snowfall we were stunned. There was no way we could shoot," says Vipul who now needs to find alternative dates for the Manali song.
Easier said than done, considering how busy Aishwarya and Akshay are. Rather than delay the release of the film further Vipul may drop the song completely. "We shot one 1970s-style romantic number a solo with Shreya Ghoshal. Now we wanted to shoot a song about a couple romancing in winter like Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz in the song 'Karvaten Badalte Rahen' in Aap Ki Kasam in Manali."
Pritam Chakraborty's brief was to create a raga-based melody, a la the 1970s. Some portions of the track were even recorded with a live orchestra as the composers of the 1970s used to do.

Just yesterday, we had reported about Sharman Joshi being signed up as the Brand Ambassador of Airtel. Today, the man is richer (literally) by yet another endorsement in his kitty. This time round, it's the telecom major Nokia, who have signed up Sharman and Adah Sharma as their latest brand ambassadors for their latest X series range, for a period of one year.
Sources close to Bollywood Hungama say, "Post the success of 3 Idiots; Sharman is definitely in a roll. Sharman bought time from Nokia officials before finally saying yes to the deal. Sharman and Adah have even shot for an ad for the same at Filmistan. The ad has Sharman and Adah as a young couple who are out to shop dresses for Adah. For every dress that Adah tries, Sharman plays a new song on the cell, as a sign of approval, which irritates Adah. And towards the end, while Adah walks out in anger, Sharman again plays a track to pacify her."
The source also adds that the ads will be out really soon while the said range of phones is expected to hit the market in a month's time from now. The overall concept of the ad is that, "There is a song on your X-Phone for every occasion."

What could have turned out to be a heavy loss-making exercise thanks to inclement weather was rescued by quick re-thinking and relocation by director Samir Karnik, his enterprising leading man Dharmendra and his two sons Sunny and Bobby.
Explaining the touch-and-go situation in Patiala, Karnik says, "40 chorus dancers were supposed to fly in from Mumbai to Patiala earlier this week for two song-and-dance sequences. But because of the fog in Patiala the dancers couldn't land."
Karnik was in a state of panic. Not shooting would mean a loss of nearly 10 lakhs. It was the spirited Dharmendra who stepped in and suggested that they shoot scenes in nearby Doraha instead of the scheduled songs in Patiala.
Says Karnik, "We quickly moved to Doraha where Dharamji, Sunny and Bobby shot scenes round-the-clock. Would you believe Dharamji at his age shot night scenes till 4.30 am and was still up and about at breakfast time, how does he do it?"
For those who thought the popularity of the Deol family was on the wane should take an immediate trip to Patiala where Punjab's puttar Dharmendra and his two sons Sunny and Bobby Deol are currently shooting.
At any given time there are close to 500 people waiting outside the luxury hotel Baradari Place which has been taken over by the unit of Samir Karnik's Yamala Pagla Deewana.
The fans who have descended from far-off places in Punjab at Patiala are a surprisingly meek and well-behaved.
Explains the director Karnik, "Dharamji's fans have no reason to be aggressive. He's amazingly open and responsive to them. He does whatever they want. Faisal's search holds an interesting story behind it. Dev Benegal, the director of the Road Movie wanted a child with innocent looks and a pert persona. Having been through countless auditions, he still couldn't find the right fit, which is when Dev's friend suggested he meet the boys from Salaam Balak theatre group. Two days before the shoot, Dev found Faisal, whose acting skills took him by surprise. 10 years after his second directorial venture Split Wide Open, internationally acclaimed filmmaker Dev Benegal is ready with his next film Road, Movie. The film starring Abhay Deol, Tanishtha Chatterjee and Satish Kaushik in lead roles talks about the concept of showing movies on the go, a tradition still very prevalent in the interiors and heartlands of India. Says Dev, "Shocking as it may sound, 70% of the Indian population still watches movie outdoors. The first time I went to a small village on the outskirts of Maharashtra, nearly 3000 people had gathered to watch a film. The next time somewhere in Rajasthan nearly 4.5 lakh people had come together to watch a film. These are places where there is none of the basic amenities of life like water, electricity and yet the enthusiasm of these folks to watch a film is something out of this world. It's like a carnival atmosphere. This is an extraordinary Indian phenomenon and when I saw the diaspora of people who had gathered together to watch the film, I was taken aback. There were small children, young couples, families and the elderly crowd all of them geared for their dose of entertainment at a meager price of just Rs.10 per ticket. I thought of it as a kind of social networking ala Facebook in flesh and blood and it increased my belief in the making of Road, Movie."
After casting Rahul Bose in his first two films, Dev Benegal has opted for yet another unconventional actor-Abhay Deol this time around. Commenting on his choice of actors, Dev says, "I was looking for somebody who was young and embodies the character of Vishnu. I didn't really have anybody in mind while writing the film. I happened to meet Abhay at a dinner in New York and the minute I met him it was like one of those 'Aaahaa' moments. I knew I had found my guy. He's extremely talented, has a tremendous on-screen presence and we got along really well. As for Tanishtha, I have known her for a while right from the time when she was part of a girl band called Teer. She maybe new in Bollywood but is a big star in international cinema and was perfect for the part. I have been wanting to work with Satish Kaushik since the last 20 years ever since I met him on the sets of Mandi where I was an assistant director. When I finished writing the script I immediately called him up from New York and told him that I would love to have him in the film. He read the script and agreed to be a part of Road, Movie."
After having made the rounds of various film festivals at Toronto, Doha, Tokyo and Berlin, the film finally opens in India this Friday and Dev is obviously excited to gauge the Indian audiences' response to the film. "We've got tremendous response wherever we have shown the film be it Toronto, Doha, Tokyo or Berlin. After the Toronto premiere all our actors were mobbed by eager fans and there was this whole street full of ladies who were screaming Abhay's name. The incredible part is that here is a film which is entirely in Hindi (there is not a word of English in it) and yet found a connect with people from different parts of the world. It reiterates the fact that if we make stories from the heart, audiences will discover them."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 3 Mar 2010 | 5:48 am Sharman Joshi endorses Airtel

In fact rumour has it he isn't too pleased being cast by Vishal Bhardwaj as one of Priyanka Chopra's seven husbands in Saat Khoon Maaf and was in two minds about the part until Vishal persuaded him and assured him that the supposedly saleable John Abraham and the distinguished Naseeruddin Shah and Mohanlal are also part of Priyanka Chopra's harem in Saat Khoon Maaf.
Irrfan has finally relented. Barely concealing his sarcasm the actor described by Time as 'the one who can do it all' says, "Whether it's Dibakar Banerjee, Shimit Amin, Anurag Basu, Anurag Kashyap or Vishal Bhardwaj, they all make the kind of films that suit my sensibilities perfectly. But they have all moved to another phase in their career. The Vishal that I worked with when I played the lead in Maqbool is not the same filmmaker who's making Saat Khoon Maaf. He needs commercially viable stars for the budget that his films now need. And let's be fair, I'm not commercially viable enough to make a difference to project."
Evading the spell of bitterness, Irrfan says, "Vishal and I kept missing each other. Finally I spoke to him in Mussourrie the other day. He's writing the script there. Yes I'd love to be killed by Priyanka Chopra. Which man wouldn't?"
The truth is, Irrfan is not too happy with the fact that directors whose art and creativity he trusts are coming to him with secondary roles.
Even the much talked-about Hissss is actually a Mallika Sherawat vehicle. When asked about its much-delayed release, Irrfan explains, "Out here they don't really understand the international market. I think the Indian producers of Hissss have got it right. They plan to market it as an exotic mysterious product from the Orient. To get into the Western market, the Indian producer Govind Menon has now invited a Hollywood studio to take the film to the American audience."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 3 Mar 2010 | 2:17 am
