Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 24 Feb 2010 | 6:29 am Shazahn Padamsee signed up as brand ambassador for Skechers
When you have parents who are already superstars, it's but obvious that the spotlight will refuse to move away from you. Same is the case with Shazahn Padamsee, one of the front runner actresses of the Bubblegum generation. After having made her impressive debut in Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year, Shazahn, surely is on every director's wish list.
The good news for all the 'Shazahn-ites' (need we say who they are!) is that this pretty girl has been signed up as the brand ambassador for Skechers, one of the leading shoe manufactures globally. Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, Shazahn confirmed saying, "Yes, I have been chosen as the brand ambassador for Skechers. I have shot for a print ad, which will be out soon." One of our confirmed sources added that the reason why Shazahn was chosen was the fact that 'The company needed a fresh face that can express a thousand emotions with even uttering a word. And also that the said brand was a thousand times careful while choosing their first Indian brand ambassador as its one of the most premium and respectable brands globally. And after scrutinizing many names, they finally zeroed down on Shazahn. And it is indeed a big-ticket ride for the actress also.'
With this deal, Shazahn joins the likes of Britney Spears, Ashley Simpson, Brandy and David Cook, who also endorsed Skechers.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 24 Feb 2010 | 5:44 am Simpson blasted for wanting a pet pig

Click above for movie stills
First it was Anurag Basu's Kites which got an editor Brett Ratner from Hollywood to put together the material after the Indian editor Akiv Ali (a regular on Anurag's films like Gangster and Life In A Metro).
Director Anurag Basu was none too pleased with this creative meddling. But there was little he could do.
Now it's Teen Patti which has roped in the services of a Hollywood editor over and above the desi editor Kaushik Das.
Hughes Winborne who has edited the Will Smith starrers The Pursuit Of Happyness and Seven Pounds and also won an Oscar for his editing in Paul Haggis's Crash has done the 're-edit' of Teen Patti.
Explains the director Leena Yadav, "We needed that international sensibility to be placed on the footage. We sent a subtitled print to Hughes. But he soon did away with the subtitles. He got all the Hindi jokes and punch lines."
Why was it felt that a Hollywood editor would be able to give Teen Patti the global cut?
Explains Leena, "It's really about getting the rhythm right. The Western audience has a different pace for movie viewing. That pace worked beautifully in my film." An international editor was not all that Teen Patti got from abroad. The film also imported a stunt co-ordinator.
It was a sight to behold when the petite female director Leena Yadav decided to direct the Big B in some of his toughest stunts in the post-Zanjeer era for Teen Patti. The German stunt director Armin Sauer who has worked with global biggies like Matt Damon in the Bourne Supremacy and Ralph Fiennes in The Constant Gardener had been called to supervise the stunts.
Leena let go of all stops and made sure she pulled the punches as hard as Armin.
"These stunts that Mr. Bachchan has performed are very real, very raw. Not for a second was I allowed to feel like a woman on the sets. Agreed there were a lot of men on the set and two intimidating stalwarts like Mr. Amitabh Bachchan and Sir Ben Kingsley. But any director regardless of gender would have felt equally intimidated by these two stalwarts."
It's generally said that female directors have a much tougher time directing a film than their male counterparts. Leena says she has never had to suffer because of her gender.
"Not once did I feel I was disadvantaged by my gender. On the sets, my authority was never questioned. Whether it was legends like Mr. Bachchan and Sir Ben or the newcomers, they all surrendered to my vision."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 24 Feb 2010 | 3:21 am "Today, a leading lady has to go beyond the glamour quotient" - Deepika Padukone
She has played a Diva and a bubby girl in Om Shanti Om, a confident single working woman in Bachna Ae Haseeno, an independent girl who takes some time to listen to her heart in Love Aaj Kal and a model/fighter in Chandni Chowk To China. Now in her Friday release Karthik Calling Karthik, she gets into a different zone altogether as she plays a bindaas city girl in Karthik Calling Karthik who likes to go party hopping, comes with urban sensibilities and doesn't mind getting her on-screen boyfriend (Farhan Akhtar) drunk.
While one waits to see the depth and impact of the character of Shonali Mukherjee that she plays in the film, what is quite apparent is the entirely non-filmy style that she has adopted for the film. Was that a conscious effort on her part?
"Yes, performances in Karthik Calling Karthik were meant to be very real and relatable. That was the requirement of the film and the characters. This is why you see that even Farhan's performance is very real in the film. I too had to adapt to a different acting style which was quite a task actually because I was also working on Housefull around the same time. Now the genre of Housefull is such where there had to be a lot more enthusiasm in my performance. On the other hand, Karthik Calling Karthik is a little understated", describes Deepika who is one of the busiest actors around today with close to half a dozen films at different stages of production.
Other than Karthik Calling Karthik and Housefull, she would be seeing the release of Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se (Abhishek Bachchan), Break Ke Baad (Imran Khan) and YRF's untitled film (Neil Nitin Mukesh) over next 12 months. Meanwhile, there are also a couple of other projects that may be green lighted by her soon.
With films belonging to different genres in the anvil, Deepika has Karthik Calling Karthik as her first ever thriller. One can be rest assured that this must have been a new experience altogether for her to move out of quintessential Bollywood heroine mode and indulge into something which belongs to a different sensibility, right?
"Well, not really", Deepika disagrees here, "Even if you take my last release Love Aaj Kal, it wasn't really the sort of film where there was a quintessential heroine and hero. It was treated entirely different. Besides that, the fact is that the kind of films which are being made are not what there used to be say, made 10 years ago."
Giving a short take on the change that has happened in the presentation of leading ladies today, Deepika says, "I can speak for myself for sure that I won't be seen as a part of a film just for a song and dance routine. I guess most would agree that today when a girl is brought into a film, she is there for adding much more to the plot and narrative than just the glamour quotient."
Well, with the film ready to arrive in just a few hours from now, it would be interesting to see the 'difference' that Deepika has indeed brought around in Karthik Calling Karthik which is carrying good vibes. With music by Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy and lyrics by Javed Akhtar, the film releases all over this Friday i.e. 26th February.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 24 Feb 2010 | 2:57 am Weekend Entertainments' film launchedRamesh B Naidu will direct a film to be produced by Anilkumar Majji and Santoshkumar Baddukonda under the banner of Weekend Entertainments. Parvin Dabbas is a name that was on everyone's lips a few years ago, courtesy his truer-than-thou performance in the by-now-cult film Khosla Ka Ghosla. Readers may recollect that the film had Anupam Kher as the retired simpleton father and his long standing fight with the builder mafia, with his two sons by his side, played by Ranvir Shorey and Parvin Dabbas. Life, now, comes a full circle for Parvin as he turns director and directs none other than Anupam Kher in his directorial venture.
Speaking exclusively about the film to Bollywood Hungama, Parvin said, "My film is set in the rural as well as urban Delhi. It's an action comedy with a political twist, and centers around a gang of four guys. It's about a certain situation they get into and how they deal with it. The film stars Vansh Bharadwaj, newcomers Kuldeep and Ashish Nair alongwith a new girl named Tina Desai, who plays the female lead. Besides these, my film has Anupam Kher, Kiran Juneja, Sharad Saxena, Yashpal Sharma, Neena Kulkarani, Vipin Sharma amongst others. I am going to wrap up the shooting very soon. Apart from this, I just cannot reveal anything more at this very stage."
While the film has been shot in locations across India, the music of the film is composed by two different music composers, viz., Siddharth Suhas and Dhruv Dhalla.
The debutante director signs off saying, "I am still searching for title of the film. The title of the film should revolve around the brief 'Right Job Wrong Guys'."

The eagerly awaited promo of Sajid Nadiadwala's Housefull will be unveiled this week along with the Farhan-Deepika starrer Karthik Calling Karthik. Housefull, directed by Sajid Khan, is a multi-starrer featuring Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Riteish Deshmukh, Lara Dutta, Arjun Rampal and Jiah Khan in lead roles. The film is a romantic comedy about normal people caught in abnormal situations sparked off by a white lie. It's a story of the world's unluckiest man trying to find true love to change his luck.
Talking about the promo, director Sajid Khan says, "A trailer is meant to excite audiences enough to get them talking about the film. But as a maker you definitely do not want to give away too much of the story. I'm sure the audiences will enjoy the promo."
Housefull once again brings together the super-hit team of producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director Sajid Khan who earlier gave us the blockbuster Heyy Babyy.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 23 Feb 2010 | 8:05 am Phoonk 2 makers challenge audiences to watch the film alone
Last time, a challenge was laid out by the makes of Phoonk, that if any viewer could dare to see the film sitting all alone in a theatre and not run out scared he will get a cash prize of Rs.5 Lakhs.
The contestant who took the challenge didn't even last for 30mins and ran out of the theatre. However, after the release, some people alleged that the contest was rigged and that they never felt fear while watching the film. So now, without going into a pointless argument on the same, the Phoonk 2 team has decided to open themselves to a scientific evaluation of that claim.
For Phoonk 2 , an ingenious implementation will be used on the Contest, which in a very scientific way will measure the heart rate of the viewer. The participant will be fitted with an ECG machine while he is watching Phoonk 2 which will monitor his/her Heartbeat and Pulse rate and this will be shown live on a screen outside the theatre to both the Media and all concerned.
A normal person, according to professionals, has a certain average heartbeat and when subjected to any kind of an intense emotion, the beats will considerably go up. So if the challenger claims that he had no fear while watching Phoonk 2, the monitor will tell whether he is lying or not and on the other hand if he can control his fear and thereby his heartbeat, and not let it cross his normal heartbeat then he will get to win the cash prize.
The Phoonk 2 contest will be launched on 10th March on the official website www.phoonk2.in. This contest is restricted to only healthy people with no history of Cardiac disease and also only to people who are between 18 and 60 years of age.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 23 Feb 2010 | 7:22 am Vivek Oberoi launches audio album of Prince - Oneindia

If there is one man in Bollywood who is on a roll, then, it has to be him. We are indeed talking about the one and only Akshay Kumar. After having being chosen as the brand ambassador for a million products, Akki is all set to lend his 'Phase Value', this time round to the electronics major LG.
Bollywood Hungama's confirmed sources said, "Akki was always an immediate choice for the said brand, after Abhishek Bachchan." Rumors have it that Abhi's contract was not renewed because he insisted on having his better half Aishwarya Rai as a part of the deal, which LG officials were not too forthcoming about. That's the reason they chose Akshay over Abhishek."
One may recall that, just a few days back, LG had signed up John Abraham, Abhay Deol and Genelia as their Brand Ambassadors for their mobile range. With Akshay now at the helm of things, LG definitely seems to be high on Bollywood power.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 23 Feb 2010 | 3:45 am Gauhar will be seen performing on 'Piya Tu Ab To Aaja' in Once Upon A Time...
The cat is out of the bag. Ekta Kapoor and her director Milan Luthria were looking for a neo-Helen for the longest time. The original plan of discovering a completely untried dancer failed as time was running out. They've finally zeroed in on Gauhar Khan who has been secretly jiving away to Helen's most popular cabaret 'Piya Tu Ab To Aaja' for Luthria's Once Upon A Time In Mumbai.
Raju Khan has been brought to do the choreography for what's touted as the most expensive cabaret ever shot in Bollywood.
Gauhar danced to the beats of 'Piya Tu Ab To Aaja' so hard last week that a shard of shattered glass wounded her leg.
The director and her excited producer intend to unveil their new-age Helen and the prized recreation of the smoldering cabaret number from the 1970s at an elaborate press conference later this month.
But the behind-the-scenes stress and arguments to get this cabaret item in place are even more interesting than the cabaret itself.
Apparently, the composer Pritam Chakraborty refused to do a straight re-mix of 'Piya Tu Ab To Aaja'. There were heated arguments between the composer and the film's producer and director over the issue. Finally, Pritam got his way and recorded a totally new version of the song.
Says Pritam, "I really see no point in doing a straight-off remix especially when it's an R. D. Burman track. That means the original is still fresh in the listeners' mind. Why should I tamper with an evergreen? So what I've done for Milan's cabaret is to incorporate just a bit of R.D.'s 'Piya Tu Ab To Aaja' from Caravan and 'Duniya Mein Logon Ko' from Apna Desh. The rest of the song is my original composition."
Apparently, when Gauhar Khan heard the song she flipped out. Laughs Pritam, "Yes they all loved the song. But I won't do a re-mix of an R. D. Burman or any other composition."
Rohan Sippy's Abhishek Bachchan-featured drug-busting Goan drama has a hitch. Composer Pritam Chakraborty is aghast to hear that Rohan Sippy has titled his film Dum Maro Dum and that the makers would like him to do a remix of the number.
Pritam vigorously says, "Like I said I don't do remixes, ever. And certainly not re-mixes of R.D. Burman compositions. R.D. has taken his songs as far as they can go. There's nothing more that I or anyone else can do to an R.D. Burman track. So I'll just use his famous opening riff from 'Dum Maro Dum'. The rest of the composition will be mine. In any case this will be an instrumental piece for the credit titles in Dum Maro Dum."
