Katrina tops Sexiest Asian Women list once again in Eastern Eye survey
'Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the sexiest Asian girl of them all?' This is the question that UK's magazine Eastern Eye asked in a survey. And, not surprisingly, Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif has topped the annual World's Top 50 Sexiest Asian Women list once again, beating former beauty queens, models and established Bollywood actresses.
The list includes eight Indian actresses in the top 10 and Katrina is followed by Priyanka Chopra, Freida Pinto, Kareena Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Deepika Padukone. British television star Laila Rouass and Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat are the other two in top 10.

Abhishek Bachchan currently shooting in Goa for Ashutosh Gowariker's period film Khelenge Hum Jee Jaan Se is using his spare time to cruise the beaches and cafes to understand how the Goan underbelly works. He's also trying to pick up Portuguese and Konkanese for the character of the drug-busting cop he plays in Rohan Sippy's film.
Since a lot of the film is to be shot on the crowded streets and beaches of Goa, director Rohan Sippy will construct sets whenever actual Goan locations would be impossible to shoot.
Since Rohan Sippy's next directorial venture is about drug-peddling in Goa the filmmaker, lately married, is looking at a cast that can look as Goan as possible.
The actors are being chosen on the basis of their ability to fit into the Goan ambience.
Says Rohan, "I want to get into the cinema-verite (French term for realistic cinema) with this film. I'm deeply inspired by the realistic style used in Steven Soderberg's Traffic and even District 9, though that's not at all the space I'm entering in my new film. Even my crime caper Bluffmaster was shot on actual locations. But now I want to capture the real Goanese ethos and spirit. And for that I need my actors to act, look, behave, dress and speak like Goans."
Abhishek Bachchan is the only actor who has been finalized. "We're in talks with others including Prateik Babbar. But no one except Abhishek has been finalized. Like I said I want actors who can look like authentic Goans," informs Rohan.
It has been more than four years since Rohan Sippy directed Bluffmaster. "Why only that? I've directed only two films in seven years. Now my writer Sridhar Raghavan has written three scripts that I'd like to direct. Hopefully, I'd like to make up for the lost time."
Speaking shyly on his new wife for the first time Rohan says, "She was the line producer for my production Chandni Chowk To China and also on board for Arjun Rampal's production. She's a very private person and doesn't like me discussing her in public."
By the way, there's no Aishwarya with Abhishek Bachchan in Rohan Sippy's untitled film. "The minute I think of a project I think of both of them in the cast. Though my new film has a couple of strong female parts, Aishwarya doesn't fit in," says Rohan sadly.
Aishwarya has her own Goan tale coming up in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Guzaarish .So she needn't feel left out.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 15 Dec 2009 | 2:25 am Nikki to follow Deepika Padukone's footstepsEarlier, many debut actress like Deepika Padukone and Juhi Chawla appeared in South Indian films and then made their way to B-Town. Source: Entertainment - Google News | 15 Dec 2009 | 1:42 am 1980s top actress Padmini Kolhapure returns to Hindi films
Padmini Kolhapure returns to the silver screen, after a sabbatical. The actress, who reigned supreme in the 80s, returns to Hindi films with BOLO RAAM, which co-stars Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri in stellar roles, besides introducing a new talent - new-find Rishi Bhutani. In fact, Padmini and Naseer were last seen together in the immensely likable WOH 7 DIN more than two decades ago.
"But we don't have scenes together in BOLO RAAM," Padmini clarifies, "We feature in separate portions of the film." However, Padmini did star in some significant Marathi films in the intervening period. "The roles appealed to me, that's why I took them up. I didn't feel like accepting anything and everything that came my way in Hindi films. I wanted to accept roles that I could relate to. I took up BOLO RAAM because the story really excited me," the talented actress states.
BOLO RAAM throws light on the mother-son relationship, portrayed by Padmini and Rishi Bhutani. How was it facing giants like Naseer, Om and Padmini? "Sure, I was intimidated by them, but I was well prepared for the role. I had prepared so well beforehand that I didn't feel nervous when I shot those scenes," Rishi states. Post PAA, Amitabh Bachchan has lost count of the compliments showered on him. The actor par excellence has an illustrious body of work and therefore, is not new to compliments and adulation. But the overwhelming response for Auro seems to have outdone and engulfed everything he has attempted so far.
The veteran actor, known for his modesty, agrees that he has received immense praise for his brilliant portrayal of Auro in PAA. "Prior to PAA, it was BLACK and before that, BAGHBAN," he says, when asked to reminisce about similar feedback.
But the two compliments that he would not forget [besides hundreds of others, we're sure] were showered by Ashutosh Gowariker and Abbas-Mustan, once the premiere screening of PAA concluded. Ashutosh Gowariker, an accomplished film-maker, walked up to Bachchan Sr., paused for a while, then remarked, "Aaj pehli baar Vijay Dinanath Chavan gaayab ho gaya meri zindagi se."
Another glowing compliment came from Abbas-Mustan, the men in white. Known for wearing white outfits, the talented director duo walked up to Abhishek, spoke highly of the film and added, "Hamara to aisa mann ho raha hain ki kal se rangeen kapde pehan-na shuru karde. Ken Ghosh admits he had loud arguments with Shahid Kapoor on the sets during the shooting of Chance Pe Dance.
But it had to do with Shahid's suddenly-saturated schedules.
Says Ken, "For the first time in his career Shahid was doing three films at the same time-Kaminey, Dil Bole Hadippa and my film Chance Pe Dance. Naturally there was a conflict of interest."
Ken admits there were loud arguments over Shahid's schedules. "I'd ask for three days. He would have only one day to spare. I'd naturally be upset. Then understandably, Shahid wanted time off. He couldn't be seen on my set straight after shooting for one of the other two films. This naturally led to heated arguments. For me as a director it was okay to come on the sets without sleep. But Shahid had to catch up on his resting time. Or the dark circles would have shown on camera. And since Shahid is fair-complexioned those dark circles would be even more visible."
The last thing that Ken wanted was for his hero to fall ill. "Priyanka Chopra had to be hospitalized because of overwork and exhaustion. I didn't want Shahid to go through the same experience."
The effort has been worth it for both Shahid and Ken. "Shahid's dancing in Chance Pe Dance is the film's mainstay. But his performance is not just about dancing. Some of the things he has done with in the dramatic scenes took me by surprise. Shahid has brought subtle expressions into scenes which I didn't catch while shooting. Only during editing I realized what he had done."
Ken Ghosh who introduced Shahid Kapoor in Ishq Vishq five years ago admits the actor has changed. "Isn't change inevitable? We all evolve with time. Shahid is no exception."
So are the stories of a rift between the two true?
Ken doesn't deny the fact that there were heated arguments and fights during the making of Chance Pe Dance. "But they were all for the betterment of the film. See when Shahid did his first film Ishq Vishq with me he only had that film on hand and was able to give me his full attention."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 14 Dec 2009 | 2:43 am Aamir shows up, disappears again - Hindustan Times
Source: Entertainment - Google News | 14 Dec 2009 | 2:31 am Dino becomes an entrepreneur
The entrepreneur side to Dino Morea's personality seems more assertive at the moment than the actor.
After opening a bar at Bandra, Dino is all set to open three more branches in Mumbai.
"One branch would be in South Mumbai, the other in Lokhandwala/ Versova and the third in or near Malad. I want the bar culture in Mumbai to be quieter and more spacious so that people can just come in for a quiet drink and relax. Bars have become strangely synonymous with noisy smoky places. I want to change that," informs Dino.
Dino is also ready to market male designer clothes which would have clothes devoted to the two cricketers Yuvraj and Dhoni.
As for movies Dino would rather wait than do the cameos that have been offered to him lately with the promise of better roles.
Dino, who turned 34 on December 9, has again been seen extensively in the company of his long-standing friend Nandita Mahtani.
Says Dino, "We've had our share of ups and downs. But we've always been close, no matter what has happened in our lives. As for the other women, they've their own conscience to deal with."
Dino doesn't rule out permanence in his relationship with Nandita.
"This time whoever it is, it will be for keeps," Dino promises himself. "I do look for someone to share my life with now."
