The journey was one from being the famed Bollywood diva to being a faithfully wedded wife of businessman Raj Kundra. After the wedding took place in truly Manglorean style at the Khandala bungalow of Shilpa's friend Kiran Bawa, the doors were left open for a grand reception in Mumbai's swanky hotel for the bigwigs of Bollywood and the corporate world A truly high fashion, yet festive event, Chandni Dev at Bollywood Hungama shows you what Shilpa had hidden away especially for this one.
"Here comes the bride" echoed the air in the plush interiors of Grand Hyatt hotel in Mumbai that was destined to be the venue for the reception of the Kundra couple. Shilpa walked in hand in hand with Raj looking every bit the beauty she truly is. Tarun Tahiliani, must be one proud designer at that moment. The friend that he is, he designed an exceptional outfit in gold on the brief given by Shilpa herself.
At the mehndi ki rasam, the sangeet and the wedding itself, Shilpa wore nothing but traditional attires, keeping in with sentiments of the events, but she was clear that she wanted to go in for something more western yet nothing too out of line for the main reception. Tarun designed a complete fusion outfit for Shilpa, in a beautiful colour of champagne gold, that went on too accentuate her skin tone beautifully. It wasn't exactly a saree and neither was it really a gown, but it was rather a combination of both.
A two piece outfit, the top was a swarovsky encrusted bodysuit with a duchess style flowing sari gown that showed of Shilpa's perfectly toned body and curves to perfection. Having worn heavy kundan jewellery throughout the earlier ceremonies, Shilpa went for a welcome change and complimented her dress with a diamonds and rubies neckpiece and earrings. Keeping with the Punjabi traditions, Shilpa sported the traditional red chuda in her hands.
Just like all of Shilpa's outfits and trousseau has been designed by Tarun Tahiliani, Raj's sherwani's for the events were done by Nikhil and Shantanu. For the reception as well, Raj looked like a perfect partner in a black Sherwani designed by the duo. Even sister Shamita looked pretty in a blue sari designed by Manish Malhotra in his typical bling style.
A star studded evening brought an end to a big fat Manglorean-Punjabi wedding. It may have been an end to all the rituals involved but for the couple, it's only a beginning. Like they say in a truly Bollywood style "Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost".Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 30 Nov 2009 | 6:56 am Ben Kingsley to attend premiere of Paa

Even though our guest has made his name and fame felt not just on the 'National' soil, but also on the 'International' soil as well, he, remains the most sought after celebrity of all-time. If that wasn't enough, he also has a movie releasing soon that's dedicated to the most famous surname in Bollywood!

Ever since she made her debut with Parineeta, Vidya Balan has worked with many a veteran filmmakers like Vidhu Vinod Chopra (Eklavya - The Royal Guard), Mani Ratnam (Guru), Priyadarshan (Bhool Bhulaiyaa), Raj Kumar Santoshi (Halla Bol) and Aziz Mirza (Kismat Konnection). Meanwhile, she has also worked with first time directors like Pradeep Sarkar (Parineeta) and Sajid Khan (Heyy Babyy) as well as one film old Raj Kumar Hirani (Lagey Raho Munnabhai) or Nikhil Advani (Salaam E Ishq).
This is why, when she interacted with someone like Balki (who only has a Cheeni Kum behind him), what sort of change in approach did she see in them?
"The best part about him is that he is just fantastic when it comes to multitasking", Vidya begins talking about the filmmaker, "Even during the making of the film, he would be managing his ad agency meetings. While having lunch with us, he would be having round table conversations. Meanwhile, he would interact with all of us quite normally on the sets."
She is also impressed with the fact that in spite of a hectic schedule, Balki kept himself abreast with all that was being churned out in Bollywood.
"He would always catch a Friday movie release without fail. That's not all; he is someone who goes for all the concerts and plays. Can you believe that? He has time for everything and anything. He manages his time so well", she gushes.
Time management is not the only factor that has impressed Vidya. She believes that Balki is also an ace when it comes to people management.
"Temperamentally he is just so cool", she smiles, "He is just so easy to work with. I have seen him interacting with his assistants. His people management is fantastic because whether it is Mr. Amitabh Bachchan or any junior most crew member on the sets, he knows how to get that comfort feel rolling. He gives and gets respects all around."
However, the story goes that to begin with Vidya wasn't too sure about working with Balki.
"I have a personal anecdote to share", she divulges, "My sister and brother-in-law, whom I hold in great regard, have worked with Balki for years on the ads that he has made. I used to interact with a lot of their mutual friends and they always used to speak about him. This set me wondering that what was so great about him."
She got the answer when Cheeni Kum released and Balki's cinematic sensibilities were on display for one and all.
"I loved the film and didn't forget the kind of wonderful experience that Balki had created. Now when I have worked with him, I know what makes some of his qualities so distinct. Both Cheeni Kum and Paa have been based on subjects hitherto unexplored and all of that has been possible due to one single factor - sheer conviction. Once Balki is sure about the story he wants to tell, there is no looking back", she comments.
It is this conviction factor that attracted Vidya towards Paa.
"I was having a constant pull and push internally before I decided to do Paa. However, Balki didn't flinch even for a microsecond. This is what that set me on path to do Paa. I had certain doubts but they were quashed by this guy's conviction. It is simply admirable and we all just followed the line", she adds.
While Amitabh Bachchan, Tabu and Paresh Rawal were senior heavyweights in Cheeni Kum, same wasn't the case in Paa which featured her along with Abhishek Bachchan.
"There is this mutual sense of respect that Balki encourages", says Vidya, "Like, I really enjoyed the way he used to interact with Mr. Bachchan. Similarly with me and Abhishek, he had his own way of conveying a point. Of course all of us we used to make suggestions and he was open to them as well. He would never dismiss our suggestions."
And how much did these suggestions actually get incorporated in the final filming?
"Hardly any", Vidya comes up with a laugh here, "Invariably he would go with what he felt was right. He believed in the principal of listen to all and do what you feel strongest about. But yes, this entire exercise used to be quite helpful since I would ask him quite a few pertinent questions and I would always get the right answers."
This is the reason why she was quite convinced when in the early days Balki explained to her the entire idea about the film, its background (Progeria) and how it was not meant to evoke sympathy or pity.
"I was wondering if Paa would turn out to be a serious film but Balki was quite clear that this was not going to be the case. He promised that it would be a heart warming film and that's the way it has turned out to be. The entire disease thing is just the background of the film. The idea is to project the story with all the sensitivity but not make it a sympathetic affair", she concludes.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 30 Nov 2009 | 3:47 am Ben Kingsley is in Goa to participate in IFFISir Ben Kingsley has arrived in Goa to participate in the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2009. Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 30 Nov 2009 | 3:09 am "I certainly want to be a mother; I can't wait to start our family" - Shilpa Shetty
Barely two days after the wedding, and Shilpa Shetty-Kundra, that's how she wants to be known now, feels she's on top of the world.
"Thank God, I plan to get married only once! This has been the most exhausting week of my life. And also the happiest. I've waited so long for my wedding. Outwardly, the only thing that's different is the chudas (heavy gold bangles) and the way I'm dressed is different. Inside me, everything feels the same. I've known Raj for so long that it feels no different otherwise," says Shilpa, exhausted after the wedding and reception.
"I've a severe jaw ache from all the smiling that I did at the reception on Tuesday. Now I know why my colleagues avoid wedding receptions. It really does get impossible to manage all the crowds."
Apparently, there were more gatecrashers at the reception than guests. "At the wedding too, there were people climbing trees and walls to take photographs," Shilpa giggles. "But it was a far more intimate private and controlled affair than the reception. My sister Shamita kept saying she felt she was part of Punjabi wedding sequence in a movie."
Laughter dying down, Shilpa says soberly, "The wedding was very traditional and simple. I felt I was going through a dream. My marriage was exactly the way I had imagined it."
Now the couple leaves for their honeymoon followed by a Mediterranean cruise for the entire family. Says Shilpa happily, "We're going to the Bahamas for our honeymoon. Then after we return, Raj is taking our entire family, all the Shettys and Kundras on a Mediterranean cruise for Christmas. He thought everyone needed break."
Regarding her plans of dividing her time between Mumbai and London, Shilpa says, "I've to get acquainted with Raj's circle of friends in London, get used to socializing with them. Yes, we'll have two homes now. In any case I was always travelling to and fro. Now I'll be doing this even more. I've my film-production company in Mumbai. So I can't be in London only."
Motherhood is also on the anvil. "Oh yes! I certainly want to be a mother. I can't wait to start our family."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 30 Nov 2009 | 3:06 am 'Paa' to release in 20 countries with 700 printsAmitabh Bachchan's much-awaited 'Paa', in which Big B plays a 13-year-old boy suffering from progeria that accelerates the ageing process, will release Friday in 20 countries with 700 prints, including digital.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 30 Nov 2009 | 3:04 am Suicide-prone farmers from Vidharbha have not seen 'Gabhricha Paus'The drought-stricken farmers of Vidarbha in eastern Maharashtra whose despairing lives have been captured in award-winning Marathi film "Gabhricha Paus" are yet to see the film, the movie's producer said.Source: Entertainment News | 30 Nov 2009 | 3:02 am Shakira shocks fiance with naked danceLondon, (ANI): It looks like Shakira's fiancé is not very comfortable with her sexy image. The timing of the two weddings has caused some unfortunate overlapping. But Eesha Koppikhar who gets married exactly a week after fellow-actress Shilpa Shetty takes the overlapping on the chin.
"We're both Mangalorians getting married to a Punjabi. So there's more room for comparison than just two actresses who are tying the knot with their steady boyfriends one after another," Eesha said on the eve of her wedding.
Every effort was being made to keep Eesha Koppikhar's marriage distant from Shilpa's.
While Shilpa's marriage took place at a friend's farm house and wedding reception at a hotel Eesha and Narang held both events at the latter's residence.
Said Eesha happily, "The wedding was on the 29th afternoon at Timmy's residence Narang House in Bandra and the reception was on the same evening at the same venue."
While being horrified by vee-jay Pooja Mishra allegations of stalking and harassment, Eesha says she is more embarrassed than horrified at the way Mrs Shatrughan Sinha has been dragged into the controversy.
"Mrs. Poonam Sinha is a highly respected figure in the film industry. It sounds highly unlikely that she would have the time or the inclination to bother with this lady. As for me, what can I say? It's obviously a publicity gimmick. I trust my man Timmy totally. He hardly knows this girl. He has shown me some of her SMSes and believe me, they are revealing."
About Eesha's name being dragged into Pooja Mishra's net, Eesha says, "I guess Timmy on his own was not that visible a target. If you add my name to his you naturally get more prominence in the entertainment sections. It's amazing what levels girls these days stoop to for publicity. I don't know Pooja Mishra at all. Why would I be stalking her? What sense does that make? She even says I stole her I-Pod some time back, Can you believe it??!! Timmy joked I should've asked him for one if I so badly wanted an I-Pod."
Laughing heartily, Eesha sobers down, "Timmy and I are now married. There's no power on earth, no matter how negative or evil, which can rain down on our celebration. The biggest thing in any relationship is trust. And we have that."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 30 Nov 2009 | 2:45 am Here's your chance to meet Ranbir Kapoor! - Rediff
