Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 14 Nov 2009 | 9:35 am Post WUS, Kurbaan faces the music of Shiv Sena
Closer on the heels of the Wake Up Sid - MNS row over the 'Bombay-Mumbai' do, comes yet another controversy. This time, it's over the backless posters of Kareena Kapoor, from the forthcoming flick Kurbaan, which stars her beau Saif Ali Khan. This issue paved the way to more than 100 Shiv Sainiks as they came out on the streets and tore apart the posters of the said film, in the areas of Juhu, Marol and other parts of Andheri.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Sena activist Jitendra Janawale from Juhu said that "The scene in question is totally against Maharashtra's Hindu culture. No sooner the posters were put up all over the city, we got lots of complaints from people, esp. from the concerned parents of school children, stating that the said posters were in bad taste. We have anyways issued a strong warning to the filmmakers through the media. We want all the backless posters that have been put all over the city to be removed as soon as possible. Failing which, we shall protest against the film when it releases."
Kurbaan stars Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi and is directed by debutant director Rensil D'Silva. The film releases next week.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 14 Nov 2009 | 8:29 am Band aidExactly a month after their singer-percussionist Asheem Chakravarty suffered a heart attack and went into coma, India’s first boy band Indian Ocean took to the stage again in their home town.Source: | 14 Nov 2009 | 8:10 am Joy of going to the moviesGoing to the movies has a charm of its own, whether it’s in an old-fashioned single screen hall, a plush home theatre, a trendy new cine diner, a decrepit and rundown ‘Talkies’ or even a laptop experience.Source: | 14 Nov 2009 | 6:41 am Om Puri regrets his verbal volcano against his wife and her book
Since a the last few days, the legendary actor Om Puri was in the news, courtesy, the explosive revelations about his past, which has now taken the shape of a book (the biographical 'Unlikely Hero: The Story Of Om Puri'), and that was penned by none other than his own wife Nandita Puri. Om Puri was so visibly upset with the revelations, that he spared no word to blast Nandita through a couple of leading tabloids.
The controversy started when his wife Nandita, who has written biography on Om Puri's life, revealed his private moments and sexual encounters of the past in her book. Details like Om had sex with his maid Shanti at the age of 14 and that he had a longstanding liaison with a woman named Laxmi with whom Om was sexually and emotionally involved, were given out to media which fumed Om. In vengeance, he blasted off his wife in media for her decision to reveal these details. He said that his wife had reduced a very important and sacred part of his life to cheap and lurid gossip and that he had shared these dark secrets with her as all husbands do. If she chose to make them public at least she should've made sure to maintain a dignity about those experiences as they are a valuable part of his life and should've considered the standing he has in the society. The actor added that there was so much more to his life than this; hence why highlight those experiences of his life.
Now that the dust has settled down, Om Puri seems to be heavily regretting his decision to have spoken out so bitterly against his wife and her book. He said that he was very angry then, but now he deeply regretted his impulsive reaction as it has hurt his wife and his son Ishaan to no end.
Nevertheless, the actor is livid with the book's publishers and says that actually they are to be blamed for sending out such sensitive aspects about his sexual encounters to the media. Om says his anger should have been projected at the publishers for trying to pre-sell his wife's book by leaking out only the sexual episodes.
The irony of the situation was that the 'blasting episode' took place on Nandita's birthday, a pain that Om is likely to carry throughout his life!Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 14 Nov 2009 | 6:04 am Give the children a chance: Priyanka Chopra

Source: Entertainment - Google News | 14 Nov 2009 | 4:44 am Lara Dutta features on the cover of 150th issue of Elle magazine
A great philosopher once told his beloved, 'I love you not because you are beautiful. You are beautiful, because I love you.' That seems to be most likely the case in the 150th issue of Elle. The magazine and Lara Dutta complement each other so very well, that it's totally impossible to say that who is mirroring whose grace and poise.
Needless to say, the 150th issue is really something to treasure about. In cliche words, one can call it as the 'Collector's Item'. This issue has Lara Dutta, 'The Mistress Of the Universe' (as the magazine calls her), who is shuffling her time between writing, meditating, horse riding, fashion... and yes...Bollywood, the place which will look like a vacuum without her presence! This issue has the gorgeous Lara getting into a nostalgic mode as she says, "As a child, my dream was to wear beautiful clothes with lots of make up and get photographed, which is more of a model thing than an actress". She also goes on to confess that when she was in class 7, she was merely 5 feet 1 inch in height. In just two years, she 'shot' upto a towering 5 feet 8 inches!
All this and mush, mush more....we mean...much, much more...only in this latest edition of Elle...truly an 'Elle-gant' issue by all means!Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 14 Nov 2009 | 4:38 am I want a man just like Raj: Shamita Shetty - Hindustan Times

Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 14 Nov 2009 | 4:38 am Ilaiyaaraja cancels Paa music release
A Paa music event planned for Children's Day in Mumbai with Vidya Balan, Abhishek Bachchan, director Balki and composer Ilaiyaaraja, has been cancelled, thanks to the work-obsessed composer who says he cannot tear himself away from his current work in Chennai to attend the function
Confirming this development Balki says, "We had planned a formal music launch on Children's Day in Mumbai. But Raja Sir is busy doing the background score for Paa. In fact, I'm with him right now. He says there's no way he would break his creative process to attend the function. We all respect his wishes. We've cancelled the formal music release."
Now the music soundtrack of Paa simply hits outlets from tomorrow without a formal release.
For Children's Day, Balki will release a number of messages from the Big B in the voice of the child Auro for kids all over the world.
Interestingly, Mr. Bachchan won't appear in person for any of the promotional activities of Paa.
Informs Balki, "We'll only be hearing him talk about the film in the voice of Auro in all the campaigns. He won't be seen in person anywhere."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 14 Nov 2009 | 4:28 am HC notice to Nasir Khan
Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 14 Nov 2009 | 4:15 am Subhash K Jha speaks about Tum Mile
The Mahesh Bhatt formula of live-in relationships, splintered alliances, disastrous adventures in the Big Bad City and corruption in hyped places, has completely run out of steam with Tum Mile. A pointless saga of two soggy souls caught in Mumbai's rains who know one another long enough to know they are incompatible.
Arth with no worth.
Tum Mile is a dreadfully long pointless repetitive and rambling look at a ruptured relationship between a working woman and a loser self-styled artiste who's ceaselessly sullen about God knows what.
If we go back to the Bhatts' last celluloid sojourn Jashn the struggling musician-hero in that film was no different from the grappling artiste in Tum Mile. They both hate the world for being more successful than them.
Emraan Hashmi attempts to infuse his trite and jaded character with a fair amount of conviction. And Soha playing his trying-hard-to-cope live-in mate comes out with a few moments which transcend the banal script. Too bad the script and direction betray an utter lack of newness and synergy in exposing the underbelly of a contemporary relationship crumbling under competitive pressures.
Incidentally Soha lives alone in a sprawling mansion in Cape Town just waiting for the loser-hero to move in. Her father drops in once a month. Where is he the rest of the time? Probably researching on how to be a tycoon with a daughter who shouldn't be left alone.
Mansion not!
Director Kunal Deshmukh's earlier film Jannat traversed the same man-woman territory with far more sensitivity. The screenplay in Tum Mile allows the director little room to navigate his imagination in and outside and the marital domain.
The whole blend of climatic and marital disaster falls apart very quickly. The much-hyped scenes replicating Mumbai's monsoonal deluge of 26 July 2005 are clumsily conceived and executed with cardboard characters carrying out their soggy karma in a watered-down waste-land.
The waist-deep drama just about sinks to a no-redemption level in a sequence where the director copies a whole sequence from James Cameron's Titanic with a rush of lethal water chasing the couple in a water-tight room.
It's not just Soha and Emraan who get claustrophobic. The feeling of being trapped in a no-win situation never leaves the audience. Most of the time the narrative plods along without energy or drive.
One sincerely hopes Mahesh Bhatt was just going through a bad-hair day while putting together this wimpy whiny plodding tale of two people who deserve only one another.
They are so dreadfully boring from the outside. One hopes they find one another slightly more inspiring.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 14 Nov 2009 | 3:46 am I don't want to play Saif's sister: Soha
