Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 31 Oct 2009 | 6:57 am Big B promises to do another film with Sujoy GhoshFollowing the rumours of a link-up director Sujoy Ghosh's, leading lady Jacqueline Fernandez has apparently vanished from Sujoy's life. Desperate efforts to reach her for promotional activities have proven futile. The lady is just not reachable. On Friday, when Aladin opened, Sujoy was promoting the film with composers Vishal-Shekhar. The Big B had driven off for Lonavla to shoot for Bigg Boss. Jacqueline was nowhere to be located. Sujoy Ghosh whose new film Aladin was slammed by critics got the surprise of his life when the Djinn in his film suddenly offered him much-needed tonic. On seeing how nervous, tensed and depressed he was, the Big B impulsively turned to Sujoy and said, "Okay, go ahead announce your next film with me." The moment has become etched in Sujoy's mind for eternity. "I can't get over the moment. When the world was slamming my film, he stood up for me and supported me. Some critics have slammed the film as though it's the worst film in the universe. That's four years of my life," laments Sujoy. "And please remember, it's supposed to be a kids' film."Source: Indiafm.com News | 31 Oct 2009 | 6:06 am Shamita Shetty may not be able to attend Shilpa's weddingThere's a chance that Shamita may not be able to attend her sister's wedding. According to highly- placed sources at Colors, there seems to be no provision to get a contestant out of a game show for a wedding. Hard as it may be to believe, Shilpa Shetty's kid-sister, now locked away in Bigg Boss, is oblivious of the momentous developments in her star-sister's life. Says a highly-placed Colors source, "Shamita has not been told anything about Shilpa's engagement or the marriage in the last week of November. As far Shamita knows, the marriage was supposed to happen in December after the show was over." Now that Shilpa has approached the channel to evict her sister in time for the wedding -and a meeting between the two parties is on the cards this weekend - the channel bosses are at a loss as to how the rules can be bent to get Shamita out of the Bigg Boss house. Says the source, "There's a provision for a house-mate to be brought out in a case of an extreme emergency. It happened with Jade Goody last year. But does a sister's unscheduled wedding qualify as a family crisis? We're now wondering if the same rule as Jade can be applied to Shamita's case." The international Big Brother rules are being consulted. If there's no provision for a contestant to leave the game for a family wedding, then Shamita Shetty may not get the permission to leave Bigg Boss house for the wedding! This however seems improbable, considering Shilpa's old relations with the reality show. (She was contestant on Bigg Brother and hosted Big Boss 2). Says the source from Colors, "After meeting Shilpa this weekend we'll work out a strategy on Shamita's eviction." According to the plan, if rules apply, Shamita's eviction will be done live. "If an unexpected turn of events helps us boost our TRPs, we're certainly not shy of putting it on camera. We did with Jade Goody. We'll do it with Shamita." The pop philosopher of the show Amitabh Bachchan is expected to do the needful. He will be breaking the news of Shilpa's engagement and impending marriage to Shamita. "The rest is up to Shamita. Once we're sure she can be evicted whether she decides to come out or stay in the House is entirely her decision," ends the channel source.Source: Indiafm.com News | 31 Oct 2009 | 6:04 am Ranbir Kapoor is cover boy of 'Yuva'He is Hot, he is Cool and he is Sid! He is someone, who comes with a statutory warning 'Beware ladies! Look...I am coming'. Well, he is Bollywood's latest blue eyed boy - Ranbir Kapoor, who, with his performance in Wake Up Sid, made everyone sit up and take notice of his talent! Looking at his ever-increasing fan base, it becomes obvious that he is the eternal youth icon. Hence, it comes as no surprise to know that he is the cover boy of Yuva, the magazine for young India. Ranbir, does belt out a few verbal gems in this freewheeling interview, whereby, on Deepika, he says that "We are like any normal couple with a career. We are busy working, we exchange notes once in while, give feedback to each other, spend time together". He also clarifies the faster-than-fire kind of rumor that had he and Imran Khan are coming together as partners to form a production company. He rubbishes the rumor saying that, "Let me put it on record, that's completely false. Imran and I won't mind doing a film together, but we haven't found anything that interests us. Even this whole thing about us being very close buddies is just talk". Seems like there's so much more to Ranbir than just his famed chocolate looks. Needless to say then, this issue of 'Yuva' is indeed a must-buy for those who know Ranbir and for those who wish to know Ranbir!Source: Indiafm.com Features | 31 Oct 2009 | 5:57 am Subhash K Jha speaks about AladinMake a wish, make a wish....The Djinn, played by the indefatigable Amitabh Bachchan, is the tonic in this Indianized adaptation of Aladin's arabesque adventures in blunderland. Once the Big B slams and hurls into the loser Aladin Chatterjee's life things are never the same again. Aladin Chatterjee? That could well qualify as the most oxymoronic name-calling in the history of fantasy cinema. Writer-director Sujoy Ghosh has a sly sense of humour. He portrays the bullies and the fakes with great gusto. He brings up his favourite themes such as the music of R.D. Burman and the fears and foibles of the working-class that lives its life in a cande-lit cupcake, in an adventure-caper that's high on special effects, but somewhat low on narrative muscle. Once the genie , or the Genius as the Big B calls himself ,arrives and gets the lovely new girl in town(newcomer Jacqueline Fernandez, pretty but vacant) to fall in love with the nerdy Aladin there's just no room for any forward movement in the plot. All Aladin does is sing and dance and indulge in verbal sparring with his magical mentor. Mr. Bachchan brings in that special and unique blend of tongue-in-cheek wit and childlike chutzpah to his supernatural role. He played a ghost dost in Bhootnath. He plays Ghosh's genie as more an entertainer than a meanie. We can't remember the last time he seemed to be having so much fun. Furnishing the genie's part with an audacious ingenuity he simply takes you to a world where wishes do come true. Yup the Bachchan is that kind of a maestro. Riteish Deshmukh is the perfect foil. Fearful anxious insecure and lonely, Deshmukh's eyes convey 'feary'-tales about wounds in rooms filled with conspiratorial ghouls and ogres. Art director Sabu Cyril creates a magical synthesis of gothic architecture and the quaint but deep mystique of a hill station...right there at Mehboob Studios in Mumbai! Sirsha Ray's camera has a whale of a time letting the lenses do all the talking, walking and exploring. Is that a miracle, or what? Aladin could have been one of the most accomplished children's films ever with special effects that comfortably nudge and wink at its Hollywood counterparts. Instead Ghosh's narrative gets stuck in repetitive situations...Aladin chased by tormentors (Saahil Khan and co, repeatedly rescued by the phantasmagoric Guardian Angel... Much in the same way that Mr. Bachchan is expected to rescue all the films that feature his name in the credits. The film's most unimpressive performance comes from Sanjay Dutt who seems to think he's Jack Nicholson doing a Joker in Batman Returns. This Joker is poker-faced. 'Brat' Man never returns once he takes off on his own evil journey. Aladin is a labour of love. It does get laboured at times and the going gets progressively tedious once we get to the point where we get the point. But the film's faith in the nurturing qualities inherent in fantasy never flags. You can't stop yourself from smiling at the antics of the dude who epitomizes longevity.Source: Indiafm.com Features | 31 Oct 2009 | 5:35 am Sania gets a glimpse of Salman's London Dreams

They both wish to see Manu become a big singing star. Manu migrates to London with his sullen uncle, runs out of the airport...and becomes a rocker almost overnight! Small and very accommodating world. The sequence where Manu now grown into a punk-styled Ajay Devgn sings at Trafalgar Square and within 4 minutes acquires three band members could be a self-defining advertisement for opportunities for Asians in Briton. 'Visa' -vis artistic license. The British soil never seemed more welcoming. Although Salman Khan playing the wild and warm Manu is allowed to make innumerable digs at the Indian revenge on their old colonizers, London seems to say namastey most warmly to all the characters in the film. How is the city to be blamed if the characters secrete a deep dark and negative side to their personality that bubbles to the surface in toxic fumes burning and destroying the music and harmony of the spheres? Vipul Shah's London Dreams aims for a more penetrating and profound look at the life of Asians in Briton than Namastey London. The characters here are far more complex and dark. But their presence is constantly challenged by the predictable and often banal narrative. From the first few frames when we see the two friends in rural Punjab share Arjun's international musical dreams, we know exactly the way this story is heading. And that includes the love triangle that grows in London among the intense self-flagellating Arjun, the carefree Manu and the happy-go-'lanky' girl next-door. One of the films 7-8 truly warm sequences shows Asin practising Bharat Natyam in front of her ultra-conservative Tamilian father. The dance steps transform into aritzy jig the minute pop ain't looking. MTC, here she 'combs'. Such moments are far too in-between in Vipul Shah's sober-and-straight narrative. Even when Manu played at a range that goes from jaded to involved by Salman Khan, is being facetious he does it in a clocked and correct way. Sponatenity is at a low premium among these wannabe rock stars. No matter what the length of the rock band-members' hair no one is in a hurry here to let their hair down. They'd rather let each other down. The dramatic confrontations work when they're done unselfconsciously. Some of them, like the confrontation between the two Pakistani brothers in a back -alley of London after the one tells the other about Arjun's treachery and betrayal, is plainly mawkish. Because the film forever has its pale heart in the right place the length (nearly 3 hours) is largely excusable. The meandering atonal music score by Shankar-Ehsan-Loy is not. Why would stadiums filled with gora log be screaming at our rockers singing these listless songs? And what does the dream of the band London Dreams really mean? Move on to the wider questions of jealousy, malevolence, insecurity and over- ambition....and the film delivers wispy wallops in a steady and honest tone. Though the music is plainly awful the background score by Salim-Suleiman fights a pitched battle against the mediocrity of the songs. Sejal Shah's cinematography is outstanding, often capturing the characters in various phase of emotional breakdown against the quaint neat London backdrop. Among the cast Ajay Devgn gets to the heart of his troubled and over-reaching character and pulls out a well-balanced performance, though he hardly looks like a rock star (the multiple earrings and other exterior preparations make us cringe). The curly-haired newcomer Aditya Roy Kapoor is an interesting presence.Source: Indiafm.com Features | 31 Oct 2009 | 3:40 am Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots first promo a cocktail - Oneindia

One acts nanny to rouge and devilish contestants of the reality show Roadies, while the latter belts out songs for his unnamed alternative rock band. I'm the first of about half a dozen press crews that have come down to interview the duo. ''Are you not tired of this?' I ask them. ''Wrong question. We've just begun.'' Suddenly I reconcile to certain facts: despite their long TV careers, this is their first big film, I am only as old as them and cannot risk being exposed and my editor's brief that this is supposed to be a 'fun' interview. So I begin by asking the about the Pakistani angle to their London Dreams, and 40-odd minutes later end up with witty remarks, some randomness and a peek into two dedicated and excited film professional. Excerpts from the chat... You play two brothers, Zoheb and Wasim. Is that for real? Aditya Roy Kapoor (ARK): Are you sure? (laughs) Rannvijay Singh (RS): Jokes part, the filmmakers needed two young boys who could pass of as London boy musicians. I did a test and met Vipul for some 47 seconds, and he told me 'This is the role. Do you wanna do it?' And I was on board. ARK: A month later I got a call from the casting agent, who had seen a photograph of mine in some magazine. Two-three months after that, I met Sir (Vipul Shah), did a screen test with Rannvijay where we acted like brash young rockstars. It was actually as simple as that. RS: The next thing we know, we were in London together wondering, 'What is our role?' Aditya Roy Kapoor: I met Sir (Vipul Shah), did a screen test with Rannvijay where we acted like brash young rockstars. It was actually as simple as that. Exactly, did you know you were supposed to play Pakistani lads who run away from their families? Did you go to Pakistan? Run from family? ARK: To prepare for the role? RS: Main pichle bees saal se-jab se mujhey pata laga ki main is film main hoon-main riyaaz kar raha hoon. ARK: No we didn't go to Pakistan. RS: There is not a lot of emphasis on this Pakistani, sufi angle. There's just one line in the film where I say, 'I'm Zoheb from Karachi aur ye mera chota bhai hain'. ARK: There's no conflict coming from our families, but we wouldn't mind it. Both of you are VJ's, how does the shift to the big screen feel? RN: Firstly, Aditya's not an VJ anymore. After meeting me he's realized that he was working for an inferior channel. ARK: No need to compete when you don't have respect for the competition. OK. I get it. Let's talk about the music. RS: The music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy is really awesome. And a friend of mine from this band called Agnee has sung one of the songs, 'Khanabadosh'. There are a few other songs which are catchy. ARK: Yeah, that's right... How was shooting in London? ARK: Lovely. We are telling everyone this only. We go out to the airport and Rannvijay said, 'Bro, enjoy this because from here it's only down.' RS: I've done a film before this (Toss). I told Aditya, any film after this, you'll feel like shit. We were treated very well, were pampered, had cars to ourselves, and 45 days of very little work! And to top it all, we were put up at the Crown Plaza, right outside Buckingham Palace. ARK: It was actually like a little group over there, everyone was bonding. When we were shooting 'Barson' - it's a concert setting - there were lots juniors jumping around, loud music, and lots of lights. And shooting a song can become quite monotonous, I tell you. But every time the Hanuman Chalisa would come on - the juniors have to be told to jump, generally - they'd actually go mad and Salman would be rocking it. Rannvijay Singh: We were treated very well, were pampered and were put up at the Crown Plaza, right outside Buckingham Palace. Salman is known for his on-sets camaraderie. Did you get a piece of that? RS: The sensibilities are so good with these senior actors that Salman would actually ask us to drop in at the wee hours of the morning for a bite, after our partying. He would make sure that we had a car no matter where we went. I think we were just spoilt, rotten... ARK: We'll never have this royal experience in our lives, until and unless we do a film again with these guys. Rannvijay Singh: Salman would actually ask us to drop in at the wee hours of the morning for a bite, after our partying Do you have any emotional lines in the film? RS: It's a real film, its how you'd be with your brother and sister. No melodrama... ARK: But we don't think alike and have a bit of a conflict towards the end of the film. RS: I am obsessed and mesmerized by Arjun's (played by Ajay Devgn) dedication to the band and blindly follow him. Did you also blindly follow the director? ARK: Yes indeed. With the amount of knowledge and experience he's had in this industry, we felt like we had to, because we could see how much sense he was making by everything he was saying. RS: Vipul's also a good actor. He'll just tell you, 'Aise karo'. And even if you get half the expression right, you're good. It was just easy because he's a director who knows what the actor's going through. Also we were blindly following everyone else - Salman, Ajay sir. ARK: We were blind only. Rannvijay Singh: Vipul's also a good actor. He'll just tell you, 'Aise karo'. And even if you get half the expression right, you're good Blind to Asin's beauty too? RS: We did look at Asin. A lot. Actually it was a dream to work with her. You guys are just being diplomatic. ARK: No, no. She is sweet, very down to earth, and very normal. She's so successful. RS: You know what? Everyone says that she is from Ghajini and all but with us she was just like a normal co-star. She's just 23 years old and has worked with senior actors like Aamir Khan. But it's the first time she got to work with actors of her age. So you guys plan to stick along, cinematically? RS: We meet quite often and are doing a couple of films; one of them together. ARK: We'll be killed if we talked about it. We'll be hunted, it's in the contract. Back to London Dreams, how's the promotion drive going on? RS: Once you do a film and I've done Toss, after that everything that had to go wrong with the film went wrong. After such an experience, you realize why promotion is very important. ARK: It's so exciting, and since we are doing the interviews together, it's fun.Source: Indiafm.com Features | 30 Oct 2009 | 8:21 am Indian films yet to go global: Anurag BasuBollywood director Anurag Basu says Indian films are screened at various international festivals and do good business abroad but maintains they are yet to go global as they are not widely watched by the foreign audiences.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 30 Oct 2009 | 8:08 am Amitabh Bachchan, Priyardarshan join hands with ToonzBollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, ace director Priyadarshan and animation major Toonz Animation have joined hands to prepare a Rs.20 crore 3D animation film titled 'Twinergy'.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 30 Oct 2009 | 8:06 am Ameesha injures her knee during work-outClick above for event stills Ameesha was spotted with a white bandage around her knee at Hrithik Roshan's party on Sunday night. A visibly impressed Mrs. Soni said, "Indian Cinema has made significant contribution to the nation's growth rate. The film industry's concerns are the concerns of my ministry." Once the action moved from the red carpet to inside the venue, the crowd was pleasantly surprised to see that the emcees for the night were the two whiz kids of Bollywood, Farhan Akhtar and Karan Johar, who were both at their enthralling best. Farhan invited the Chairman of MAMI, Shyam Benegal who gave the welcome speech. Benegal said, "I am extremely happy to see all our guests present here today. She debuted with Aamir Khan and now will be seen in London Dreams with Salman Khan. The actress adores both the actors and finds them similar personality wise. Asin says, "Salman and Aamir both are extremely warm, friendly and very genuine people. They don't consciously work to create an image for themselves. In Bollywood, there are a lot of people who try to create a certain image of themselves and portray a certain image. Aamir and Salman are just themselves and that is very enduring and that is very rare in a showbiz industry like ours." Talking about professionalism she says, "Personality wise they are quite similar but their working styles are a little different. Aamir comes on the sets, will discuss his scenes with the director, will give inputs, takes suggestions and finally get to shooting. On the other hand, Salman would know his lines, deliver his shots and that would be the end of it. But I am sure as an actor, he would have prepared himself before coming to shoot. He would surely be knowing his work in terms of his body language, his lines etc. It is just the working style difference between them."Source: Indiafm.com Features | 30 Oct 2009 | 4:41 am Rensil shoots special music video for Kurbaan featuring only Saif & not KareenaDownload Kurbaan wallpapers Why was Kareena Kapoor not part of the music video that was shot by Rensil D'Silva on Tuesday although she is very much part of Kurbaan and when she was in fact shooting for another film by the same producers (Dharma Productions)? Kareena says she wasn't needed. But Saif and Rensil, after shooting with the actor alone decided she was needed after all. Images of Kareena were finally included in Saif's music video. Saif Ali Khan shot a music video for Kurbaan, a seductive tag-on for the film which takes its director Rensil D'Silva back to his roots. Laughed Rensil, "Yeah, I used to shoot music videos ten years ago. I feel I've gone back in time. We decided to do a music video for Kurbaan. But not the usual shor-sharaaba flashy promotional video." The unusual music video shot at Mukesh Mills in Mumbai was conceptualized by Rensil and choreographed by Bosco. It featured Saif and the chorus dancers in spiritual postures. Says Rensil, "Unlike the usual music videos this was more spirit than body. There is a lot of visual imagery in the song that we haven't captured before in any music video. Though there are chorus dancers accompanying Saif, you won't see them or Saif doing the usual gyrations." Rensil was very clear about the music video defining the film's theme. He was also quite sure it would feature only Saif. But then Kareena's presence was sorely missed. Apparently, Saif suggested that she be present in the music video at least in spirit. "How could we not have Kareena in the video? I mean she's the music in the film," reasons Rensil. The director chose what he thought to be her finest dramatic shots from the film and placed them in the music video as images passing by while Saif performs the song in the foreground. "The impact is potent," says Rensil. "Kareena's the soul of the film. Though we shot the song 'Kurbaan Hua' without her participation, we had to finally acknowledge the fact that she lends a lyricism to our film."Source: Indiafm.com News | 30 Oct 2009 | 4:18 am I missed Akshay, but loved Salman, Ajay's dynamism: Vipul Shah"London Dreams" is Vipul Shah's first film that doesn't star Akshay Kumar.Source: Entertainment News | 30 Oct 2009 | 3:27 am
