He has come a long way from directing television serials to his silver screen debut with Main Aurr Mrs Khanna. The man is none other than, Prem Soni. With MAMK, Soni has vowed to bring back the love stories. The film features the dashing Salman Khan with gorgeous Kareena Kapoor releases today.
Prem was live on Bollywood Hungama's Celebrity Chat to talk about his experiences with the actors and also about directing his film. So for all those of you who failed to be the part of this conversation, we bring you the excerpts of the 'lively' chat!
Akshay: Which television serial you have directed before?
Prem Soni: Akshay, Hum Hain Anari for Zee, Rishteyâ¦
Sam: hi...have u done the voting?
Prem Soni: Sam, Unfortunately I don't have a voter's card. I will be doing it next time onwards.
Akshay: Hi Prem, who is your fav Khan...SRK or Aamir? I am not asking Salman as it is obvious that he will be ur current fav:-)
Prem Soni: akshay, Aamir
Salman: did kareena and salman get along?
Prem Soni: salman, yes indeed
Zaz: why didn't u promote your movie on Salman's show Dus Ka Dum?
Prem Soni: Zaz, we did intend to...as it was late in the day ....Kareena and Sohail were already on the show.
Sallulover: what is ur expectation with this film as it's releasing with the major films?
Prem Soni: sallulover, I believe that good films do well. And MAMK is a good film. That's why my expectations is that it will do really well.
Akshay: hi Prem, what is ur next project?
Prem Soni: akshay, its a film called PARIS.
Niraj: prem ji, why was the release date fixed with 'All The Best' & 'Blue'? Why didn't you choose the post Diwali week where there would have been no competition for you as 2 small films are releasing. Though a general opinion is that Main Aur Mrs. Khanna will find it tough due to two other big releases.
Prem Soni: Niraj, the Producers decided on the release date. Good films do good business...and since there are three films releasing this Diwali, I genuinely hope
and pray that all the films do well at the B-O.
AHMED: there are stories floating around that Atul was so impressed that he has signed you for his next production with salman in the film, is it true ?
Prem Soni: Ahmed, Yes indeed. He is the producer for Paris .
N_Vashi: have you written this film also? How did you get the break?
Prem Soni: N-vashi, I have written the entire film. I met Salman Khan, narrated the script. He agreed and that's how I got the break
AHMED: Prem, do you feel you are good at handling emotional stories or you want to try out your hand in comedy, action, period or reality hard hitting films too, what are your ambitions as a director?
Prem Soni: Ahmed, I feel that I am good at love stories with real emotions. For the time being, I wud love to be associated with this genre.
JunMao: Is it true that this movie was first brought to Salman in 2007?
Prem Soni: Jun, yes its true.
Honey: who is playing lead actress opposite salman?
Prem Soni: honey, I am still in covo..not yet decided
JunMao: Favorite song in the movie?
Prem Soni: jun, DONT SAY ALVIDA
NV: Veer-Zaara is the greatest love story of hind cinema. Do you agree? If not what's your pick
Prem Soni: NV, All Yash Chopra directed films are classics. I agree totally that V-Z is one of the classiest films.
Honey: what is the reaction of Salman Khan when he saw the rushes?
Prem Soni: honey, he simply loved the film. He smiled and said "Prem, u made a good film".
Tom: what's the airport connection... why do u have planes on the posters?
Prem Soni: tom, a huge amt of the film is situated at the Melbourne Intl airport. Its very much a part of the script.
Prem: prem name is lucky for salman as his first film Maine Pyaar Kiya character name was Prem.so i think even this time Prem connection with Salman will work as i'm an astrologer
Prem Soni: prem, tks a lot. Its a very sweet co-incidence.
Srinath: is the making of movie slowly changing with time in India?
Prem Soni: srinath, yes. it is .Its getting fresher and new.
Honey: u give importance to critics appreciation or box office collections?
Prem Soni: honey, B-O gives u the money while the critics give u the respect. Both are as imp as it cud be :-)
Net Bug: why the name Main Aurr Mrs Khanna?
Prem Soni: netbug, because, when u watch the film and get out of the theatre, u will realize how apt the title is. It justifies the title
Prem Soni: Thank u guys...It was really WONDERFUL chatting with all of u. Here's wishing all of u a very Happy Diwali and pray that everyone's wishes come
true!!! This Diwali, if u want to feel good about the people around u, watch Main Aurr Mrs

While Sanjay Dutt's unhappiness with his other recent films is well-known, he has come out of All The Best grinning ear to ear, and not just because it's comedy.
Director Rohit Shetty gets emotional talking about Dutt. "You can't help being protective and affectionate about Sanjay. Once he accepts a film he adopts the whole unit. Sanjay was more like the producer of All The Best than Ajay Devgn. In the evenings, Ajay, Fardeen and the rest of the gang would be chilling out in Goa while Sanjay would sit with me poring over the next day's schedule. He was bothered about every thing, from the food for the unit to my travel plans. Whenever I had to leave the Goa location for Mumbai, he would be anxious about my return flight."
Rohit can't understand how many recent films have misused or underused Sanjay Dutt. "He signs films for emotional reasons. And it's the director's moral duty to make sure his presence is justified. In All The Best Sanjay is the main protagonist."
Shooting down rumours that All The Best had to pay Rs. 50 lakhs to jump the queue of releases, Rohit says, "When Aladin was postponed we got an opening and we decided to release in Diwali. We didn't have to pay any money to prepone .We never planned All The Best as a Diwali product. The colourful light frothy ambience just happened. It's my cleanest comedy since the first Golmaal film. Golmaal Returns had some double meanings. But All The Best is totally free of risqué elements."
He hopes all three Diwali releases would do well. "I certainly want Blue to do very well. Asthvinayak are also the producers of my Golmaal series. So their success is by proxy beneficial to my film."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 16 Oct 2009 | 2:47 am Celebrate Eco-Sensitive Diwali: Environmentalists to Delhiites - Outlook

A few months ago, we had told you about well known theatre personality and radio guru Roshan Abbas making his directorial debut with a film for SRK's production house Red Chillies Entertainment. While Roshan is all set to take his film (tentatively titled Always Kabhi Kabhi) on floors he is quick to dismiss the rumours that the film will also star Shah Rukh Khan.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Roshan said, "No...SRK is just producing the film. My film stars four fresh new faces, one among them is Zoa (daughter of Karim Morani) who is making her debut with this film. We are still finalizing some of the cast members and as of now have some known names too like Archana Puran Singh, Satish Shah etc. playing vital roles."
Roshan is also quick to dismiss rumours that his film is based on the popular social networking site Facebook. "See...as I have said earlier, the film is an adaptation of a play I had written and directed way back in 1999 called 'Graffiti' about life at high school. That play was set in '99 and this film is set in 2009 so it's but obvious that I would be having some elements which the youth of today connect with one of them being social networking sites such as Facebook. However, beyond that there is no real connection. The film is set in a high school and will try to capture the various emotions such as love, jealousy, pride that one goes through during school days. I believe some of the best days of our life are the ones that we spend in high school and it is this period of one's life that the film will portray."
Shooting of the film Always Kabhi Kabhi is scheduled to commence in mid-November at various locations across India. Pritam has been roped in to compose music for the film.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 15 Oct 2009 | 8:13 am Live Chat: Asin on October 16 at 1600 hrs IST

Salman Khan is known to have a great amount of respect for veteran actor Dharmendra. Recently Sallu even invited Dharam paaji and Sunny Deol on his popular game show '10 Ka Dum'. Now as a special tribute to Dharmendra, Salman has incorporated some of the veteran actor's dance moves in the song 'Man Ko Ati Bhave' from his forthcoming film London Dreams.
In the song, promos of which are already on air, Salman is seen wooing Asin on the streets of Paris in front of historic locations such as the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. Khan, in his adorably mad style, and has even adopted some of Dharam paaji's trademark moves while dancing for this song.
Confirming that Salman's moves were consciously modeled on the lines of Dharmendra's famous dance steps, choreographer Rajeev Surti said, "When we were discussing the choreography, Salman bhai suggested that we incorporate Dharamji's famous moves. He is a big Dharmendra fan and felt that the steps would go really well with the fun feel of the song. He managed to ape Dharamji's moves perfectly and has even added his own unique flavour to them."
Incidentally, when the number was being shot, French President Nicolas Sarkozy had just won the six month presidency of the EU, and to celebrate this momentous occasion, the entire Eiffel Tower was lit up in blue and gold which was an extremely rare sight. "We were lucky to grab that rare sight," added director Vipul Shah

Akshay Kumar speaks to Subhash K Jha about coming close to death experience during the filming of Blue and his love for doing stunt scenes.
Aren't you working too much these days?
I don't think so. Recently, when we shot in London for House Full, it was like family holiday. It was like a picnic. House Full is an emotional comedy. When Sajid Khan told me we were done with 90 percent of the film in Europe, I couldn't believe it. Our families were there. Once I was back in Mumbai, my schedules got stressful. That's why I like shooting abroad. I came back to Mumbai last month to shoot two songs for Blue.
Do you enjoy shooting songs as much as all the other aspects of a film?
I enjoy being in front of the camera, period. It doesn't matter whether it's to put sindoor in the leading lady's hair or to wipe it off.
The rapport between you and the Blue director Anthony D'Souza is supposedly amazing. Anthony took really good care of his cast. Though Blue is his first film, you can't really make it out. He's a very hard-working man. Of course I want Blue to work for my sake. But more than me it's Anthony who deserves to succeed. I hope he succeeds. Regarding our rapport, it's all about the vibes you give to the director as an actor.
You've established a long-standing rapport with many directors? Why just directors? It's important to have a rapport with producers. You've to be a thoroughly professional, finish your work on time. I feel it's more important to be a good human being than a good actor.
Do you enjoy the freedom of moving around freely abroad? You mean because of the fans? But there are Indians in every part of the world. And they do call out to you, wave and say hello. But beyond that they leave you alone. My son loves skating. We went in skating in Hyde Park.
Do you want to direct a film? Not really. I'm very happy being in front of the camera. I'm happy being an actor and a producer.
Are you producing a film with Shah Rukh Khan? No not at all.
Are you working in a film with Trisha? Yes I am. Priyan is planning something. I love working with all kinds of co-stars, new or established doesn't matter. I've worked with three new girls in Priyan's Garam Masala. And that was a hit. Hopefully, Trisha will be a hit too.
Were you frightened?
Not at that time. But looking back I realized anything could've happened. I realized sharks are not a threat to you until they feel threatened by you. Now do you know why I think Blue should be called Red?
Was Blue the most difficult film you've ever done?
By far it was the most difficult film. Every morning going underwater. It's the toughest film I've ever done. I don't know what bigger challenge I can throw at myself...except shoot a film in space. I'd also love to jump down from the Empire State Building.
Didn't you once say you won't do these dangerous stunts now that you're a father?
If you saw Khatron Ke Khiladi (Fear Factor) I warned audiences not to try the stunts. I don't want any harm to come to anyone while trying my stunts. I do them with a lot of precaution. But at the end of the day I know with my caution and experience I could go badly wrong with my stunts.
Is it worth it?
I've seen stunt men lose their lives in front of my eyes because of one wrong move. The wind can suddenly change its direction during an aerial stunt and you're gone. I know it's dangerous. But I just love doing stunts. It's a thrill I can't stop myself from. I tried to stop it for my son. But I can't. I suppose it's my one addiction in life.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 15 Oct 2009 | 3:52 am Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra take Jermaine Jackson for Taj Mahal visit
The bonding between Shilpa and Jermaine which was established during her turbulent stint at Big Brother, just got much stronger and more creative during Jermaine's current visit to India when Shilpa along with Adnan Sami played hosts to Jermaine and his wife Halima.
In fact on Monday, Shilpa and her NRI boyfriend Raj Kundra flew the Jacksons in his private jet to Agra and then to Jaipur for a flash visit to these legendary tourist spots.
It was Adnan who had promised to take Jermaine to the Taj Mahal but the accident aborted their plans. Jermaine and his wife were more than happy to go with Shilpa and her man specially since the visit was planned and executed by Kundra to the minutest detail.
It was in Jaipur that apparently the idea of musical collaboration between Jermaine and Shilpa concretized.
Incidentally, both the Shetty sisters Shilpa and Shamita sing. We've now seen Shamita doing her singing in Bigg Boss.
Says Shilpa, "It's too early to talk about what Jermaine and I are doing together. But yes, we will work together for sure. Shamita's singing, the world has now seen. Isn't she adorable?"
About taking the Jackson couple to Agra and Jaipur on Kundra's jet, Shilpa says, "I really don't want to talk about what we did or are doing for Jermaine and Halima. We are their hosts in India. They are a fabulous couple. Both Raj and I love them both. We had a great time in Agra and Jaipur. It was Jermaine's dream to visit these spots. Strangely a day before we took him to Jaipur, he saw Rambagh Palace on television in his room at the Taj hotel in Mumbai and was completely enamoured. He had no clue we'd take him to Rambagh the next day."
Not willing to reveal much about the Jermaine-Shilpa collaboration plans, Shilpa quips, "Nowadays you never know when and who is waiting around the corner to put a spanner in your works. I just heard that one Mr. Hirani is suing me. The only Hirani I know is the one who has made the wonderful Munnabhai films. I can't wait to meet him."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 15 Oct 2009 | 3:14 am Stars want hit movies, family time for DiwaliThree multi-starrers are releasing just a day before Diwali and most Bollywood stars are hoping that their films will hit the jackpot during the festive season.Source: Entertainment News | 15 Oct 2009 | 2:40 am
