She is one of the few actors in Bollywood today, who can be accredited with the success of wiping out the misconception that 'Models can't act'. Her smile is something that has to its credit the launching of more than a million ships (read 'brands'). We are indeed talking about Mugdha Godse, the lady who entered Bollywood with a bang, courtesy her superlative performance in the smash hit Fashion and who will very soon be seen in Jail and All The Best.
After lending her name to many FMCG products, Mugdha has now been signed up as the Brand Ambassador of the very famous Mysore Sandal Soaps. When Bollywood Hungama spoke to the actress regarding the endorsement, she replied positively by saying, "Yes, I am endorsing Mysore Sandal Soaps".
Looks like Bollywood stars are truly making hay while the sun is shining! Way to go, Mugdha!Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 10 Oct 2009 | 6:51 am Irrfan Khan will be playing Nehru's role in Joe Wright's Indian Summer
Irrfan Khan had big plans to attend the premiere of his film Kosher Vegetarian in New York on October 16. He even had his clothes ready. But then, the unexpected happened.
The producers couldn't afford to have the entire cast and crew over.
Irrfan tries to explain the situation gently, "You've to understand my film Kosher Vegetarian was just one short-film in the whole series being released as one feature film New York I Love You. There're 11 short films and as many directors. And the cast includes 35-40 formidable star-actors. Getting them all to attend the premiere in New York was a costly affair. It also required huge amounts of planning and co-ordination. The producers were indecisive. I called it off."
What Irrfan is now looking forward to is the role of Jawaharlal Nehru in Joe Wright's Indian Summer. "It was Danny Boyle who after Slumdog Millionaire told me about the part. The British film industry is very small. Everyone knows about the films being made. Danny told me about Indian Summer. It came to me. Then nothing more was heard of it. I forgot all about it. Now I hear it's on again. I'm very excited. I'm a huge fan of director Joe Wright's work. But the offer hasn't come formally to me yet."
Irrfan is undeterred by the fact that he looks nothing like Jawaharlal Nehru. "I'll turn myself into the character through my attitude. When I was just out of the NSD, I had played Lenin at the age of 21. It made me realize my potential and direction as an actor. Since Lenin, I've played other biographical characters. I'm playing another real-life character Pan Singh Tomar. I'll be playing the Punjabi poet Pash in Anurag Kashyap's film. I can pull of Nehruji for sure."
Irrfan loved the way Roshan Seth played Nehru in Ben Kingsley's Gandhi, but has no intentions of using Seth's performance as a reference point. "There are many fine actors playing Gandhi. Whom would you call the finest? Roshan Seth is an actor I just love. Our industry is not equipped to handle his talent. But I'd never copy him. My reference point would be the script and the way I interpret the character. When I had just started acting, I used to draw a map for my character. I didn't have the skill to surpass that map. Today, I can afford to be unpredictable."
Today Irrfan is much in-demand for international projects. "All thanks to my film Warrior which Mira saw and decided to cast me in The Namesake. Not too many people have seen me in Warrior. One of my proudest moments recently was when Mr Bachchan praised me on his blog. I've repeated his dialogues in front of the mirror in my growing up years. It requires a large heart to acknowledge another actor. He's a genuine and generous soul."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 10 Oct 2009 | 6:46 am Noida cops wake up, send Shiney notice over illegal stay!Noida police gave an example of its compliance on Friday, when they sent a notice to Shiney Ahuja, five days after the actor arrived in Noida, for `staying in the city illegally`.Source: Zee News : Entertainment | 10 Oct 2009 | 6:16 am Inside Julia's vanity van: Simple and ethnic IndianHollywood actress Julia Roberts' love for simplicity and appreciation of Indian craft were more than evident inside her personal vanity van as she shot here for the movie Eat, Pray, Love.Source: | 10 Oct 2009 | 5:49 am I have no plans of retiring: Amitabh Bachchan

Jha speaks about Acid Factory
By the time the befuddled chemically-zonked characters trapped in a padlocked factory realize who they are and what they are up to, we couldn't care less about the outcome of their violently vivacious life. Our disdainful indifference for the characters comes from the forced cool quotient. Everyone behaves as if they were born in a posh Tibetan retreat and spend the majority of their lives driving in swanky Porches. But the actors lack the charisma to carry off the posh postures with élan.
But these aren't the only reasons why we give up on these lost souls. Mainly, the game is up because film turns out to be an almost frame-by-frame copy of a Columbian film, Simon Brand's Unknown.
But shhh! That's a fact 'Unknown' to our audience. Like many of the films produced by Sanjay Gupta, Acid Factory seeks direct inspiration from a foreign source and adds sheen of extra-ruggedness to the original proceedings. After a point it doesn't matter what the original reference- point is. These are people who've lost their bearings. Providentially, the plot of this ode to muted mayhem doesn't follow that fate.
Director Suparn Verma remains pretty much in control, especially when the chase sequences take place. That's when the narrative really lets its hair down. The skidding wheels, exploding cars and crashing dreams of characters that are as amoral as they are adventurous, signifies the complete takeover of the film's universe by forces that rule the realm of video games.
Long before they became fashionable, Sanjay Gupta has been making video games on celluloid. The slickness never becomes a sickness. The background music by Amar Mohile totally supports the vibrant rugged and macho visuals.
Women are objects of classy but lustful adoration in Gupta's scheme of things. Dia Mirza makes her athletic entry mid-way through the film when the characters locked up in acid factory have just begun to figure out their raison d'etre. By then we've begun to lose our bearings vis-Ã -vis the askew plot.
To their credit, the actors seem to exude energy beyond the kind provided by the adrenaline-motivated visuals. Each character comes across as an individual. Manoj Bajpai is wacky, Aftab Shivdasani is restrained. Dino Morea is wry and Fardeen tries hard to come to terms with his amnesiac character. Danny Denzongpa and Irrfan Khan remain peripheral, never quite entering the domain of the damned, remaining above the pyrotechnics even while indulging in them.
Technical qualities in Acid Factory deserve a special mention. Sahil Kapoor's camera captures the bends of Cape Town as effectively as the curves that peep tantalizing in the well-choreographed item song. Curiously, Shabana Raza (Manoj Bajpai's wife ) makes a fleeting appearance in a flimsy nightie which captures her as the kind of wife Rita Hayworth played in the 1940s.
Her part is a slice of vanity in this film celebrating the violent vivacity of a lost generation.
Acid Factory is a stylish action film. Bunty Negi edits the matter without eating into the meat. But the meat of the matter is more about the heat than substance.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 10 Oct 2009 | 4:07 am Review: Away We GoSam Mendes’s brilliant follow-up to Revolutionary Road is filled with the quirky, quixotic characters that have been a hallmark of his work, says Rashid Irani.Source: | 10 Oct 2009 | 4:07 am I'll do important roles till 80 like Ashok Kumar:Big BAmitabh Bachchan has never been busier.Source: Entertainment News | 10 Oct 2009 | 4:00 am Amitabh Bachchan's journey to the top - India Today
Source: Entertainment - Google News | 10 Oct 2009 | 3:49 am Ajay Devgn's All The Best finds itself in a copyright controversy
Next week's big Diwali release, All The Best, finds itself in the middle of an uncalled for controversy. Apparently, producer Karan Ramsay (of Om Films Company) has filed a copyright infringement suit against actor and producer Ajay Devgn over the script of the film.-
Ramsay claims that the script of All The Best is almost the same as his under-production film called Uncle Samjha Karo. He has even gone on to mention that he had purchased the copyright of his film's script from writer Paritosh Painter in November 2006. Ramsay further adds that in 2007, Paritosh Painter had tried to get back the copyright of the script from him but in the arbitration process that followed, the IMPPA ruled the case in his favour thereby declaring Ramsay as the owner of the copyright.
Devgn films meanwhile claim that their film is based on the American play 'Right Bed Wrong Husband' and that they had in fact acquired the script from an American firm for $40000. Devgn is even livid at the fact that despite knowing all this long before, Ramsay files a petition only at the last minute close to his film's release.
When we tried to contact Devgn Films, their spokesperson said, "Right now we are in Delhi for the promotions of our film. The matter is currently in court and we would not like to comment on anything at this point of time. We should get a clearer picture by Monday."
One will have to wait and watch if the makers of All The Best are able to come out of this soup in a clean way.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 10 Oct 2009 | 3:48 am Julia in Pataudi market was an affair to rememberNot many residents of this town could catch a glimpse of Julia Roberts while she stayed at Pataudi Palace for over three weeks. Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 9 Oct 2009 | 10:35 am "London Dreams has outstanding music & interesting story" - Vipul Shah
Its no surprise that Vipul Shah's production house is called 'Blockbuster Movie Entertainers'. After all, he has been responsible for delivering back to back blockbuster entertainers such as Waqt, Namastey London and Singh Is Kinng in the recent past. Now Vipul Shah is all set to unleash yet another entertainer-London Dreams which he feels has all the qualities of a potential blockbuster. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Vipul shares his experience making London Dreams- one of the most awaited films of this year.
From Namastey London to London Dreams...your fascination with London doesn't seem to stop...why such a title?
It's just a coincidence...nothing more than that (laughs). London Dreams is a story of two friends and talks about their journey from childhood till the age of 35. They want to pursue their dream of becoming great musicians, going abroad and creating a band and conquering the world of music. Typically in India, that's a trend that happens from Punjab to London. Youngsters from Punjab want to go to London and cut their album in their underground style etc. That's why logically the story had to be set in Punjab and London and since it's about them chasing their dreams in London hence the title London Dreams.
Since the film is about a rock band, comparisons with Rock On are inevitable...how do you react to such comparisons?
The comparisons are not just with Rock On. I have heard people comparing the film to Amadeus, then the other day, somebody came and told me that it resembles Yaarana (starring Amitji and Amjadji), someone said it looks like Abhimaan (starring Amitji and Jayaji). The good thing is that all these films are good films, so I am happy that at least they are comparing my film to a good film. On a more serious note, when you have a Rock On which recently released, it would be foolish on my part to make a similar film. That much common sense any director would have. We have taken care to ensure that the story, characters, the basic drama are completely different to a film like Rock On. Mine is an original film where we have tried to create our own world of music. Moreover, the music in my film is not rock but more of pop. So there is nothing remotely similar between Rock On and my film.
You also shot at some rare and prestigious locations like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. Talk us through that...
Yes...coincidentally while we were shooting in Paris, President Sarkozy had just won the election, so as a part of some special celebration, the Eiffel tower was lit up in blue for a certain time period. It was very lucky that we could get to shoot in front of a blue coloured lit up Eiffel tower. I think its one of the rare films in which you will get to see a blue coloured lit up Eiffel tower. We also shot at some historic locations like the Louvre and Heathfield in London (which was the palace where Queen Elizabeth- I was coroneted). We also shot some key portions inside the Royal Albert Hall...all in all it's been a fantastic experience.
A lot has also been spoken about the whipping scene where Ajay whips himself....the scene bears an uncanny resemblance to a scene from The Da Vinci Code...what is the significance of the scene in the film.
The scene is a very dramatic point in the film. There is no similarity to the shot from Da Vinci Code as there is no religious connotation to the scene in my film.

Eesha Koppikhar who is hosting the wrestling reality show '100 % De Dhana Dhan' had a fun time shooting in South Africa. The black belt actress not only loved the country but also enjoyed the wild life in the jungles.
She says, "It was such fun doing '100% De Dhana Dhan' in South Africa. The warmth of the people can only be compared with that our people of India. I always wanted to visit South Africa also for its diverse wild life. Being an ardent animal lover, I was really looking forward to experience the wild life safari. So, at the first given opportunity, I just took off to visit the Lion's Park at Johannesburg."
She continues, "The experience was thrilling and endearing. Not only did I get a chance to see lions up close in person, but I also got a chance to play with the cubs. It was an amazing experience playing with cubs. They pulled, scratched, even tried to bite me. I guess neither the cubs nor I felt threatened in each other's company. Like human babies, all that they wanted was fun and pampering. I just loved the way the cubs were being treated at the Lions Park. Even though in a protected environment, they were yet so free."
The actress got the rare privilege to see the White Albino Lion. She adds, "I have visited several wildlife sanctuaries and seen Tigers at Jim Corbett National Park, Gir National Park, Ranthanbhore Tiger Reserve, Kanha Wildlife Sanctuary, Bandhavgarh National Park etc, but the South African safari was like watching King Lion and his family in his their palace.
Coming back to '100% De Dhana Dhan', Eesha plays the coordinator on the show between the two teams in terms of language and observes the games and performances and helps bridge the gap between all parties, the audience, the two teams and the mentors.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 9 Oct 2009 | 6:11 am Friday releases: Acid Factory, Surrogates and more - IBNLive.com

Source: Entertainment - Google News | 9 Oct 2009 | 4:54 am "I'm planning a Michael Jackson concert in Mumbai" - Jermaine Jackson
The softspoken Jermaine - speaking at a low decibel runs in the family - doesn't mind being asked questions about his legendary brother.
In fact, Jermaine is happy to reveal that he's planning a very special homage to Michael "We'll do concerts in Michael's memory in various parts of the world, including Mumbai which is now one of my favourite cities," enthuses Jermaine who's just had taste of Mumbai and Bollywood and loved every bit of it.
Jermaine and Adnan Sami were supposed shoot a song on the streets of Mumbai on Tuesday. But the rain Gods had other plans. So the music video was postponed. But Jermaine didn't mind just hanging around, getting to know Mumbai with his dear friend Adnan Sami.
Jermaine, who is in Mumbai right now to record a tribute to the city, is surprisingly warm on questions on Michael. "Everywhere I go I see this overwhelming love for Michael. That's equally true of Mumbai," informs the gentle Jermaine as he jams with Adnan over the song that's begun to crystallize in the T-Series recording studio.
Says Jermaine, "We were supposed to record the song in LA. But on Adnan's suggestion we decided to relocate it to Mumbai and make it a tribute to Mumbai. I'm so glad we did that. Mumbai is such a vibrant city. I love the feel of the city. I love the food; I'm very fond of the entire Bollywood culture, the songs dances and colours."
Sounding ultra-excited, Jermaine admits it's been a trying time for the Jackson family after Michael's death. "Adnan has been a friend first then a musical partner. We've interacted for four years. And now I'm finally here in Mumbai. This is my first visit to Mumbai. And it feels wonderful. The song is shaping up well. And we're enjoying the process of doing it."
Jermaine intends to visit the famous spots in the rest of the country. "We'll do all of that once the music is done."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 9 Oct 2009 | 4:48 am Bad weather causes further delay in Raavan shoot
Looks like Mani Ratnam's Raavan is jinxed. Having such a big star-cast and having being made in two languages always gave some problem to the director. Currently, it is the bad weather at Malshej Ghats which is standing as an obstacle for the shoot.
A source from the unit reveals, "We have been going to shoot at the location every morning at 6 am. But we end up shooting not even a single scene. This is due to the bad weather and heavy rains which have disrupted our entire schedule. Abhi-Ash have been also traveling every morning to the location and end up sitting in their vanity van due to bad weather conditions."
The source continues, "Mani Ratnam is getting very stressed with the entire situation. The movie is way behind its schedule due to unwanted circumstances. Getting dates of the actor's also causes a lot of grief. Past few days have been off. Although the entire unit is going to the location for the shoot in all the muck, but no shoot is able to happen."
"Govinda who was supposed to join in this month is asked to come in later as the shoot is being postponed," adds the source.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 9 Oct 2009 | 4:46 am Hungama Digital Entertainment launches an action packed game for Acid Factory
