Ranbir plays spurned lover in Ajab Prem...
Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 6 Oct 2009 | 9:09 am "Acid Factory would mark the comeback of Manoj, Aftab and Dino" - Suparn Verma
Acid Factory, a Sanjay Gupta production which is directed by Suparn Verma (Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena) is all set to arrive this Friday. After it's much hyped unveiling that took place in IIFA last year, the film has been pretty much in the news for it's all macho star cast, comprising of Fardeen Khan, Irrfan Khan, Manoj Bajpai, Dino Morea, Aftab Shivdasani and Danny Denzongpa along with femme fatale Dia Mirza. Talking to Joginder Tuteja, Suparn promises that the film will bring in a different dimension to the way thrillers are perceived. Describing it as a 'serious hardcore entertainer thriller', Suparn also insists that the film is every bit the tagline it reads - 'Some thrillers go too far; this one starts from there'!
Acid Factory - Now that's quite an intriguing name. So did the title come first or the story?
The central element of the film was meant to be a factory. After doing a bit of research, I set the film in an acid factory. As we started thinking of the title, some people even suggested that we keep it short and just name the film 'Acid'. There were others who felt that Acid Factory would be apt. Meanwhile, I had made a pre-production promo for the actors to get the sense of the mood, action etc. of the movie. I showed it to Sanjay Gupta and then and there, his reaction was to go ahead with the title
Acid Factory.
Time and again, one comes across the cliche that a location is almost like a character in the film. It seems quite genuine here considering the fact that it forms a part of the film's title itself, isn't it?
Exactly! In fact I spent 3 months with Nitish Roy (the Art Director) to work on the entire factory concept and design. See, whenever we talk about a factory, all we see in movies is Mukesh Mills. We see those chains and drums in factories and warehouses. It was a conscious call on our part to break away from the cliche. In fact Nitish and I custom designed the factory even from the shooting point of view. I covered all my angles on a 3D model and further spent one and a half month to actually construct the factory at Ramoji Rao Studios, Hyderabad. I remember when people arrived there for the first time, they felt that they had entered a real factory.
Coming to the cast of the film, it must have been quite a challenge to get the right actors in place for a film that boasts of a complex hard hitting drama?
Fardeen (Khan) and Manoj (Bajpai) were the first ones to be approached. Then we went to Irrfan (Khan) and he asked me if I would actually be able to shoot it the way I had narrated it. I showed him the factory design and he started getting more and more interested. Then he had a few queries on the last scene of the film and once I answered them all, he told me that Acid Factory is gonna be one kick a$$ film. He was on.

Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 6 Oct 2009 | 5:04 am Urvashi confirms being west bound with The Bounty Hunter
Things are looking up for Urvashi Sharma. After Naqaab [2007] where she had an author backed role and more recently Baabarr [2009] where she managed to make an impression in spite of limited screen time, the young woman is getting aggressive about her film career. While she is picking and choosing her Bollywood films quite carefully, she has gone ahead and signed a British film titled The Bounty Hunter.
"Yes, I can now confirm that I have signed the film. We were in talks earlier and hence I wasn't at liberty to talk. However, now since everything is packed and sealed, I can happily announce my involvement with the project", says Urvashi, who is now out of the 8 film contract with a leading music company and is free to choose films at her own will.
The film would be directed by Sunandan Walia who has earlier directed a documentary film titled Days and Nights in an Indian Jail [2003]. The same production company (Endboard Productions), which had produced this documentary, would be making The Bounty Hunter.
The Bounty Hunter comprises of British and British Asian cast including Kulvinder Ghir from Bend It Like Beckham. On the strength of its acclaimed script, The Bounty Hunter would be funded by U.K. Film council.
Meanwhile Urvashi is happy to see momentum gathering w.r.t her film career. "I am looking for good work but it has to come with good money as well", she laughs, "I am not willing to compromise on either of the two. Of course I am not just sitting and waiting for things to happen to me. I have approached filmmakers myself."
"Unfortunately, the ones on my wish list are either on the post production of one of their films or have already signed someone else. I am happy with their responses though since they seem positive and promising. I am sure they would have me in mind for their next projects", she says hopefully.
When it comes to her being in the wish list of the filmmakers who want to work with her, she is taking her steps quite carefully.
"Yes, there have been offers but let me talk about them once there is something concrete on paper", she says in a guarded tone, " Meanwhile, I am looking at wrapping up work on Aditya Datt's Chai Garam [Govinda, Celina Jaitly] and Mukti [Sanjay Dutt, Shabana Azmi, Vinod Khanna, Suneil Shetty]."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 6 Oct 2009 | 4:49 am "Jermaine Jackson and I are doing two songs together" - Adnan Sami
Click above for event stills
On Friday afternoon when the deceased legend Michael Jackson's brother Jermaine arrived to collaborate with Adnan Sami, there was a sense of disbelief in the city. Jermaine arrived with his wife Halima. They both checked into the Taj but spent the entire evening at Adnan's place discussing music, food, social concerns and Michael Jackson (MJ).
"It's been an exhausting but amazing time since Jermaine arrived," chuckles Adnan after an exhilarating session with Jermaine at the newly-revamped T-Series recording studio. "That's why I didn't make any announcements about Jermaine's arrival. I didn't want to sound premature in my excitement since Jermaine had visa issues and his arrival in Mumbai was uncertain till the last minute."
Adnan and Jermaine have got together to record a tribute to Mumbai City. "It will be part of an album we've been working on for two years long before Michael Jackson's sudden death. Jermaine loves India and Mumbai. I could've easily joined him in Los Angeles to record the song. But Jermaine insisted on coming down."
Adnan intends to make the third of the Jackson siblings familiar with the sights and sounds of Mumbai and India. "After the recording is over, we're going to Chowpatty and all the other hot spots of Mumbai. Jermaine loves Indian food. But he doesn't want to have the 5-star stuff. He wants to taste the pao-bhaji, paani-puri, bhelpuri, batata-vada and all the street-slurps."
A visit to the Taj Mahal is also on the anvil. "We'll visit the Taj and Fatehpur Sikri where as you know, Tansen once sang. I'd have loved him to stay in my house. But I thought a hotel would be more comfortable for Jermaine and Halima. I'm bowled over by his humility and his hunger to learn and know about Indian culture. His down-to-earth nature reminds me of Mr. Bachchan."
Adnan plans a very exclusive sit-in dinner party in Jermaine's honour at his home on October 7.
Jermaine also heard Azaan's music and loved it. The Jermaine-Adnan album will be marketed in India by T-Series and internationally on Jermaine's label. "T-Series re-revamped their entire studio and equipment for Jermaine's recording," says Adnan. "We're doing two songs together, one of them a tribute to Mumbai and its unstoppable energy"Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 6 Oct 2009 | 4:26 am "Wake Up Sid isn't preachy" - Ranbir Kapoor
If you missed it, even the ticket windows are looking house-full today. The reason - Wake Up Sid and Ranbir Kapoor. Ok, so you might not have his steely brown eyes but you can achieve Sid's timeless classic style and how. You might not get a chance to buy that chocolate brownie cake in time for your best friend's birthday but you can achieve it by surprising her with some decked up jam sandwiches. There are no rules when you join Kapoor's company. He ain't all that complicated. He is as simple a simpleton can ever be. Four days since Wake Up Sid has hit the theatres and the air smells fresh, the girls look even hotter and the boys on the streets seems like your best buddies. A revolution of sorts. Young college lads adore their tee's with their favourite comic characters printed on 'em. Their red, green and blue converse. Ask anyone what's their favourite hobby, it's photography, they say. That's a sort of change we're talking about. That's what a four day old film can do to our countrymen. Ignore the cliched resorts, the sparkling restaurants or the cool cafes. Stroll past the Mumbai's queen's necklace and nothing can be more romantic. For starters, Ranbir Kapoor knows how to stay cool when the heat is on. UK's Harrow Observer columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent Devansh Patel gets lucky and how in this exclusive chat with the Kapoor kid post the good vibes coming from the critics, box office and fans after his latest release Wake Up Sid. You get a text message from his publicist which reads, 'Ranbir is calling you in fifteen'. You know it's still time to fill the petrol in the car. I request my friend to drive fast and take me to a secluded place and away from the honking cars. Then in a dark area surrounded by the trees with not much noise we wait patiently for his call. He calls but the voice breaks. Time to call him back. Some apologies exchanged and under the new found open sky at eight in the evening the interview begins. It gets over in twelve. I look around and find myself embraced by the tall trees and an open ground. I ask my friend who's sitting besides me, "What place are we in?" The answer was spooky - A college campus. For those who've been sleeping....wake up! Wake Up to a new found laziness, wake up to a new found love, wake up to a new found responsibility, wake up to a new found simplicity and wake up to a new found mutation.
Firstly, many congratulations on the on-going success of Wake Up Sid
Thank you so much. I hope it continues the way it has started. The entire team is happy with the way it was received by the audiences. So far so good.
The film is so simple Ranbir that the word complex doesn't exist. Is 'simplicity' the new term to describe your film?
I don't know if it's a new term. I just know that Wake Up Sid was made from the heart, with a lot of thought, honesty and hard work.
The film's editing is also talked about a lot
Absolutely. Editing is as important as the pre-production of any film. That's where you can change the pace and the tone of the movie. A lot of the new directors are editors themselves. They sit on the edit table and it's this tool through which a film is formed. Wake Up Sid works because of its editing too. It was crisp.
Your comic book characters have influenced people to such an extent that a whole new trend of clothing has started
All the movies that I do, the costumes grow my character. Ayan, Karan and designer Priyanjali paid a lot of attention to how you should look as a lazy guy. He should be wearing t-shirts, boxers; he wears only one kind of shoes, he is rich but only carries his one bag everywhere he goes. He is lazy to go shopping too. He doesn't even like to gel his hair. I mean, his hair is so unkempt in the film. Full marks to the entire team who've worked on the costumes. I think they've succeeded in making me look lazy.
Have you ever come across a situation in your school or college when you said to yourself, 'Wake Up Ranbir'?
Never. I woke up pretty early in my life. I knew from the start that I wanted to do something related to movies. So I lived my life according to that. After completing my education in Mumbai, I went to a film school abroad. I went to an acting institute for a year in New York and directed as an assistant with Mr Sanjay Leela Bhansali. So everything was pretty much planned in my life when and how I would've started my career.

Source: Entertainment - Google News | 6 Oct 2009 | 2:15 am A momentous 2009 for Lara
Not many are aware that Lara Dutta wasn't keen on acting in BLUE. "Akshay Kumar had recommended my name to the producers. The moment I got to know of it, I called
Akshay and told him that I wouldn't be able to accept the assignment. He knew the reason behind my decision," Lara tells me.
The 'reason' is, Lara didn't know how to swim, while major portions of BLUE were to be filmed in the ocean and swimming, therefore, was mandatory. "Not many people are
aware that I had almost drowned while shooting for ANDAAZ. Akshay had rescued me," Lara enlightens me, "When I reminded Akshay I couldn't swim, he told me to forget
my phobias and learn swimming pronto. Today, I feel BLUE has not merely made me overcome my phobias, but has also taught me something that would stay with me for
the rest of my life."
Lara has had an eventful 2009 so far. First, the deglam look in BILLU. Then, a hardcore comic fare in DO KNOT DISTURB. Now BLUE. "It's been an interesting year. I had
fun on the sets of DO KNOT DISTURB. Watching Govinda and Ritesh in comic scenes is a treat indeed and if you've to share screen space with them, it's great. You couldn't have asked for more," Lara says. The praises have been flowing in and Lara, obviously, is feeling on top of the world.
But BLUE is one film that Lara looks forward to with bated breath. "BLUE is a first-of-its-kind film on Hindi screen. You haven't watched something like this before. You can only draw parallels with international films. I am sure, this film will make a huge impact not just in India, but also internationally," Lara feels strongly.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 6 Oct 2009 | 2:15 am Hema Malini-Esha: Mamma Mia - Oneindia

Post GOLMAAL RETURNS, everyone expected Ajay Devgn [that's how his surname is spelt now] and director Rohit Shetty to start work on GOLMAAL 3. Instead, the duo joined hands and started ALL THE BEST. "GOLMAAL 3 is definitely up next, but I wanted to make another entertainer before I made the third instalment in the GOLMAAL series," Rohit Shetty tells me. Ajay seconds it. "We had planned ALL THE BEST even before GOLMAAL RETURNS had released. GOLMAAL is a brand and there has to be a gap between the instalments," Ajay states.
But one thing that Ajay and Rohit were sure of is that their new film had to release in Diwali. "We didn't know how we'd achieve it, but we were keen on releasing the film during the festival of lights, like GOLMAAL RETURNS," Rohit reveals. There were a lot of 'obstacles' when they began shooting, like Sanju's tryst with politics, Fardeen deciding to opt out when his father's health started deteriorating and Mugdha meeting with an accident on the Mumbai - Pune expressway. "Then there were forecasts of heavy rains in Goa," Rohit was worried. But things fell into place and Rohit wrapped the shoot in a record three months.
Rohit and Ajay don't rule out ALL THE BEST 2, if the first part succeeds. "A lot of people are curious to know if we have plans to make a sequel to the film. This, even though ALL THE BEST is not yet released. That only shows the level of excitement is tremendous," Ajay and Rohit echo. If that happens, Rohit would be the first director in India to have two brands under his belt - GOLMAAL and ALL THE BEST.
While on Ajay Devgn, the talented actor is all set to start his next directorial assignment, after the superbly-crafted U ME AUR HUM, next year. "I haven't decided on the genre of the film yet, but I'd like to make a film that also has a message to convey. It would be commercially viable, that's for sure," he divulges.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 6 Oct 2009 | 1:59 am Big B doing great job on Bigg Boss: Shilpa Shetty - Sify

His first two films may not have hit the bulls-eye but his recent release What's Your Raashee? did get him quite a lot of appreciation. Yes...we are indeed talking about Bollywood's latest good looking hunk Harman Baweja. Harman was on Bollywood Hungama's live chat a few days ago and fans had a ball of a time asking him a variety of questions. In case you are among those who missed this fun-filled chat with Harman, here are the excerpts of the interesting conversation that Harman had with his fans on Bollywood Hungama.
Harman Baweja: Hi This is Harman Baweja only on Bollywood Hungama.com
Rajshree: Hi Harmanji how are you?
Harman Baweja: Doing very well Rajshree...excited...nervous...mixed bag of emotions
Rajshree: Hello. What's your character in the film?
Harman Baweja: Rajshree...I play Yogesh Patel...working and studying in Chicago and my family cons me into coming back to Mumbai and forces me to get married in 10 days.
Rida: how was it working with Priyanka?
Harman Baweja: Rida...I have known Priyanka for 6 - 7 years now and being good friends always makes the working relationship far more exciting...especially when you are working on a romantic comedy like this film.
Harman fan: hi-What is your favorite song from What's your Raashee? :)
Harman Baweja: It actually depends on my mood...If I am out on a drive with somebody :) then I'd love to hear Jao Na
Shweta: Hey Harman, what's the funniest prank has played on u?
Harman Baweja: Well my pet name for Priyanka has always been Pranks and I am sure why that it is ...She is quite a prankster usually but on this one I guess she saved herself from becoming a schizo.
Nehasingh: Hi Harman how are you doing today??? How r u celebrating Navratri?
Harman Baweja: Nehasingh... I love playing Dandiya....even though I end up busting my fingers most of the time but this time around its been really hectic so I made up by listening to Su che in my car.
Minalh: hi harman if this film was the real life story of you, which girl would you chose and why?
Harman Baweja: firstly I hope it was my real life story...that way I'd get to romance 12 girls but on second thoughts I hope I am never put into a situation where I am forced to get married
Nehasingh: u r really good dancer
Harman Baweja: Thank you so much Neha... even though I have busted quite a few bones B-Boying in this film but I love dancing
Harman fan: What has it been like working with Ayesha and now Genelia?
Harman Baweja: I still haven't worked with Ayesha though I would love to...I think she is really cute.... Genelia is just the way she comes across on screen...funny...full of energy and crazy.
Priya: hi harman, I wanted to say that you are a very talented actor. just wanted to wish u all the best for your film What's your Rashee?. i wanted to ask u, do u believe in god? What do u think of karma and rebirth?
Harman Baweja: Priya... I am a strong believer in GOD and I am the kind of person who follows my conscience at every step of life
Minalh: how was it working with Ashutosh Gowarikar?
Harman Baweja: So early in my career to work with Ashuji is an honour...Along with being serious and disciplined about his cinema, he is a very funny person...something which reflects in What's Your Raashee?
Punnu: harman........would you like to enter the big boss house??
Harman Baweja: Punnu....I don't think I have the courage to be observed 24 x 7....Hats off to those who are in it
Rashmi: u have superb dancing abilities ... where did u learn from????
Harman Baweja: Rashmi....Primarily by watching a man whom we all are going to miss a lot - Michael Jackson
Punnu: hey harman......when will we see you in an action movie??
Harman Baweja: I myself really itching to do an action film ....but still waiting for the right script to come along...
Shahzad: Harman which director u like to work with except ur father?
Harman Baweja: Shahzad....Vishal Bharadwaj, Anurag Kashyap, Anurag Basu, Rajkumar Hirani and Sooraj Barjatya for sure.
Gandalf: do you have Hollywood dreams?
Harman Baweja: I think the way Indian cinema is bridging lately soon Bollywood or Hollywood would qualify under world cinema
Gandalf: do you work hard and party harder?
Harman Baweja: Gandalf....I work hard....I party harder but the next morning becomes even harder.
Whatsmyrashee: Do you want to work with Ram Gopal Varma?
Harman Baweja: Satya and Company are amongst my favorite films and if ever RGV wants to make a gangster film I'd be very keen to be a part of it.
Neil: Do you think What's Your Raashee? could be your first hit movie of urs?
Harman Baweja: Neil...I would hope so and certainly wish so....
Sid: Were you surprised when Ashu handed the music to a newcomer rather than his usual choice AR Rahman?
Harman Baweja: Sid...when I heard the music for the first time ...I jumped with joy and said Rahman is brilliant....Only later did I know that it has been composed
by Sohail.
London_Al: Would you consider direction, like your dad later in his career?
Harman Baweja: Well along with Strasberg I've also done UCLA film school so I do enjoy every aspect of cinema but I would like to give myself good amount of

Wake Up Sid has hit the jackpot and now it's a matter of seeing the kind of distance it would eventually cover. As someone who has entrusted the responsibility of directing a film to first timers like Nikhil Advani (Kal Ho Na Ho), Soham Shah (Kaal) and Tarun Mansukhani (Dostana) earlier, he is ecstatic that his newest protégé Ayan Mukerji has made an all around terrific impression amongst audiences as well as critics alike.
"Ayan has earned it all. Really, no one other than Ayan could have made this film. His story made me realize that we all have been Sids at some point in our younger days. We all have gone through that phase. We have thought like that. Pick up any family and you would find a Sid. It is this identifiable factor that had made Wake Up Sid click with audiences in a big way", says Karan who has been inundated with congratulatory calls ever since the film hit the screens and took an all around excellent opening.
Were there any special instructions from him to Ayan before the youngster started calling the shots? "These decisions are taken before you rope in someone to direct a film. Once you have entrusted the responsibilities, you should just leave an individual alone. He has worked with me for a good period of time and there are some things that do rub off on an individual. Hopefully some good things have rubbed on him as well", he continues.
In that case, he seems to have mentored the bunch of newcomer directors quite well. While Ayan Mukerji has just seen the release of Wake Up Sid, another debutant Rensil D'Souza is getting ready to unleash his Kurbaan this November. Tarun Mansukhani is getting animation flick Koochie Koochie Hota Hai in place while also working on Dostana 2. First timer Siddharth Malhotra has already finished ground work on Stepmom remake while debutant director Punit Malhotra's I Hate Love Stories is also in news. Karan Johar's own My Name Is Khan would be releasing in early 2010 whereas newcomer Karan Malhotra has been entrusted with the responsibility of directing Agneepath remake.
"More than being a mentor, I guess they look up to me as someone older who is almost like a parent", Karan philosophizes, "The difference in their age and mine won't be more than a decade but I guess I am much older in my mind state. Also, I have always shared my way of working which is that one should always have an off screen relationship with the actors other than just on screen creativity".
Extending on his thought process, Karan adds, "See, 80% part of a filmmaker's job is to handle people and their emotions. Once you are able to do that as a director, creativity automatically steps in. If you can deal well with your cast and crew, your movie will by itself turn out to be something special. One should always possess people management skills; that makes the entire filmmaking process quite efficient."
He sounds like a Management Guru when he says that.
Laughs Karan, "Once you are on sets, you have so many energies to encounter. There are so many people around and you have to help them and waive off some turbulence that they maybe having around them. You have to get different people on the same page and ensure that creative parameters are met. Just because you are a filmmaker, you can't let go of managerial skills. Who said that one has to be just talented and creative to make a good film?"Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 5 Oct 2009 | 6:26 am Do Knot Disturb uses viral marketing

Source: Entertainment - Google News | 5 Oct 2009 | 5:14 am "If not Bollywood, at least the West is giving me my due" - Satish Kaushik
Road, Movie was recently premiered at 2009 Toronto Film Festival. Directed by Dev Benegal, the film has seen some fabulous critic reviews coming its way and is now going full steam ahead to make its presence felt in more such international film festivals. Even though the film is being sold as an Abhay Deol starrer, the man who is not being missed by a single critic is Satish Kaushik who is being pointed out for his terrific performance by one and all.
"When it is written about that Satish Kaushik has come up trumps in the movie, I obviously pride myself. More so because while in Bollywood, as an actor I have been pretty much slotted in the last 25 odd years, out there in the West, filmmakers are still willing to experiment", says Satish Kaushik who continues to play the balancing act between being an actor and a director.
In the film, Satish Kaushik plays the role of a wanderer who seemingly knows everything about life. As a constant companion of Abhay Deol, he brings some of the most light hearted moments in the film while also making quite a few statements in an understated manner.
Continuing in the same vein, he adds, "For them an actor is an actor. They don't hesitate in putting you in a challenging situation. Whether it is Road, Movie or earlier Brick Lane [2007], I have got some great roles to play. They have been a complete departure from the dozens of funny characters that I have played. Of course, these are the roles that have given me recognition in my country. But as a creative person, I am happy that West is giving me my due."
Now that West seems to be waking up for him, is he planning to become a little more aggressive about his international assignments?
"Of course I will love to do that", he immediately responds, "Films like Road, Movie and Brick Lane add a lot to your resume. It now boasts of international presence as well. Most importantly, the kind of roles coming to me aren't peripheral. It's not that 'chalo, ek Indian aadmi lena hai do scene ke liye, so let's get someone from Bollywood'. They are worthy roles, the kinds that are integral to the film, both quality as well as length wise."
This is the reason why both he as well as Danny Boyle felt that they may work in some other assignment instead of Slumdog Millionaire. Not many are aware that Satish Kaushik was earlier auditioned for the role of a Sub-Inspector (who reports to Irrfan Khan) that was later played by Saurabh Shukla.
"Yes, Danny had auditioned me and I was more or less finalized too. But then he told me that he had seen me in Brick Lane and believed that as an actor, I had a lot more to offer. He felt that if I played the role for which I had auditioned, it wouldn't justify my standing as an actor. We agreed to get together for something better in time to come", narrates Kaushik.
His contemporaries from the early 80s, Anupam Kher, Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri, have already made an impression in the West, whether American or British film industry. Happy to join the league?
"Yes, of course. This is the right time to go for the kill. All us senior actors are seeing some good recognition coming our way", he concludes.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 5 Oct 2009 | 5:09 am Post Raashee piracy, Vipul Shah withdraws London Dreams from Shemaroo
After their alleged involvement in the alleged piracy of the master-copy of What's Your Raashee, Shemaroo has suffered a big blow.
Vipul Shah, who was seriously negotiating the overseas distribution rights of London Dreams with Shemaroo, has withdrawn the negotiations and almost overnight given over the deal to Studio 18.
The deal happened days before the Shemaroo official accused of abetting piracy was released on bail. Says a source, "Shemaroo had apparently acquired the overseas distribution rights for London Dreams from Vipul Shah for a hefty advance sum. They're however, no longer distributing the film overseas."
A year back, Studio 18 was in negotiations for the distribution rights of London Dreams for a whopping Rs. 120 crores. But the deal fell through. Now Shah is back with Studio 18 after the recent incident at Shemaroo.
Vipul chooses to play down the reason for his withdrawal from advanced negotiations with Shemaroo for London Dreams. "I was negotiating with Shemaroo. But the deal didn't come through. However, the piracy allegation is irrelevant. Shemaroo has expelled the man accused of piracy."
When asked if he ever thought that his withdrawal from Shemaroo at a time when the company's image has been dented would affect them, Vipul counters, "Why should I worry about that? We were under negotiation. We didn't come to a deal. We were even talking to Yash Raj. But I got the best deal from Studio 18. Shemaroo is a very respectable organization. I refuse to hold this one incident against him. They had distributed Singh Is Kinng and I was happy with them."
As for piracy, Vipul says, "After the Raashee incident the cops have clamped down on piracy. You won't see a single pirated DVD in Mumbai. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end for piracy."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 5 Oct 2009 | 4:31 am Kareena is taking acting workshops & working on her look for Stepmom remake
Manish Malhotra is having a hard time trying to bring down Kareena's glamour-quotient in Stepmom, to make her look like the ordinary working woman. Kareena is leaving nothing to chance this time. In her determination to make sure she can match strides with the formidable scene-stealer Kajol in the desi Stepmom, she has been quietly attending acting workshops with the film's director Siddharth Malhotra.
To make time for this, Kareena has been stealing time out of the rehearsals for the song that she began shooting with Aamir in 3 Idiots this week.
Playing Kajol's soutan in the Indian Stepmom won't be a cakewalk for Kareena Kapoor. The two actresses start shooting together from the end of this month.
Says Kareena, "The last time I rehearsed for a part it was for Vishal Bhardwaj's Omkara. However, that was a more unconventional film and role where I had to get into a milieu and character I knew nothing about. But Stepmom is urban and very contemporary. I play a very normal metro-centric working girl. It should've been easier."
Through the workshops, Kareena is discovering how difficult it is to play a normal girl. "I walk talk dress like an ordinary working girl. I'll be using no makeup."
The clothes by Manish Malhotra will on this occasion be far less glamorous than what Kareena generally gets to wear. "I couldn't cut my hair as planned because of continuity clashes. And I didn't want to cut my long hair. But I'm going for a new hairstyle."
The biggest challenge is to face the camera with the indomitable Kajol. Says Kareena, "She's always been one of my favourite actresses. We worked together in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. But this is something else."
Kareena says there are lots of dramatic scenes between the two women. "The desi version of Stepmom is very different from the original. My role is also a big departure from what Julia Roberts played in Stepmom."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 5 Oct 2009 | 4:14 am "Today, I am proud of Ranbir" - Rishi Kapoor
Rishi Kapoor is overwhelmed with the kind of response Wake Up Sid has generated for son Ranbir. After some anxious moments spent in the week that led to Friday release of the film, he is also relieved that Ranbir has now been widely recognized as an actor who is reliable and can deliver the goods.
"I can't explain how proud I feel today as Ranbir's father", says Kapoor senior, "His performance has made everyone stand up and notice, whether it's the audiences, people from the industry or the critics. With the kind of universal appreciation that he is getting, I am happy that he has done so very well for himself."
With a Kapoor surname to boast of, it was never going to be easy. "Exactly", says Rishi Kapoor, "People feel it's an advantage but the fact remains that as an actor, you have to always prove your own worth. He is making some smart choices and working in distinct films. He hasn't taken an easy route and I am glad that his strategy his paying."
As a father, he has mixed feelings about seeing Ranbir completely immersed in work. On one end he feels pained to see him slogging day in and night out. On the other hand, he understands that hard work means Ranbir is busy and hence he wants him to carry on.
"Even when Wake Up Sid had to release on Friday, Ranbir was working from Thursday night till 6 AM on Friday to get some promotional activities running for his next release Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani", reveals Rishi Kapoor, "He hasn't been resting. Soon he would be going to USA for the shooting of his next film. Meanwhile, he also has to promote Ajab Prem.... which is releasing in November followed by Rocket Singh - Salesman Of The Year in December and then Rajneeti in January."
As a father, doesn't he feel like asking Ranbir to slow down a little? Other than the fact that next few months would be hectic, Ranbir doesn't seem to have taken any break during last couple of years, courtesy some non-stop shooting for five films in a row.
"Arrey, let him work. I am sure he would plan it out all well. He is a grown up boy and knows how to take care of himself. This is the time to work hard", concludes Rishi Kapoor.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 5 Oct 2009 | 4:12 am Rani Mukherjee's special relationship with Aditya - Oneindia

"250 feet deep lies the secret of Blue"
This is what the promotional material of Anthony D'Souza (a.k.a Tony) directed film Blue has screamed ever since the film's publicity campaign began. There have been quite some talks about the film revolving around a treasure hunt which is hidden deep inside the sea. How number of characters from different walks of life come together to hunt for the treasure even as danger is lurking right down there forms the basic crux of this under water adventure thriller.
However, it has just been revealed that this forbidden treasure, which is the focus of attention for everyone, is nothing but India's own. And there is a British connection to this as well!
Informs a source closely attached to the film, "Blue is not entirely a piece of fiction. There is a definite reality to the basic plotline of the film. The origin of the story dates way back to 1947 when India had gained independence and British had left Indian shores. However, while doing so, they went all out to put a dent on Indian economy. They had taken away a lot of treasure with them."
After an extensive research, it was revealed that Brits took 20-25 ships filled with treasure. One such ship sunk in the sea and no one ever got to know about its whereabouts.
"This is how the basic germ of Blue was born", continues the source, "From this real piece of fact, Anthony D'Souza went on to spin an entirely fictional tale on how a group of people decided to hunt for this ship deep under the sea and lay their hands on the treasure."
Akshay Kumar, leading antagonist of the film, confirmed that Blue is indeed about the hunt of treasure that Brits had taken away from India.
"Yes, the film is about our very own treasure and Tony has fictionalized the entire story all very beautifully", says Akshay without revealing too much about the film's plot, "My character of Aarav forces Sagar (Sanjay Dutt) to join him in the adventure and hunt for this treasure."
There are also talks that his character is an out and out black one in Blue.
"Not really black, but it is that of grey", clarifies Akshay, "He is just like any other common man who wants money. It's just that the extent he goes to achieve the impossible and lay his hands on all the money is what makes his acts a little different from the rest."
Also starring Lara Dutta and Zayed Khan along with Katrina Kaif and Kylie Minogue, Blue, which is produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Ltd and has music by A.R. Rahman, would be seeing a massive worldwide release on 16th October.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 5 Oct 2009 | 3:17 am
