So much of Shahid's fame now-a-days is based on his beefcake physique - that rippling 6-pack, that not so big stubbly head - but the menace that bubbles up

the messages that I've been receiving since Kaminey released and busy finishing up all my duties. Somewhere deep down, I'm really happy. I needed the
audiences support and I've got it.
Now that Dil Bole releases, do you think the ones who are going to watch the film will be the ones who were impressed by Shahid Kapoor in
Kaminey?
I'm hoping that all the positivity of Kaminey spills over on Dil Bole
Hadippa. Secondly, I think people have always liked me in the commercial space of love stories and films that have a lot of dance, music and
entertainment. They haven't seen me in my usual best since a year. Dil Bole Hadippa will put me back in that space. Thirdly, all those people who
missed out on Kaminey, because it was an 'A' certificate, will probably be able to see Dil Bole.

The results of the 55th National Awards for the year 2007 were announced yesterday and like always there were quite a few surprises in store. It was the cinema of South India that bagged all the top four honours with the Priyadarshan directed Tamil film Kanchivaram bagging the award for Best Feature Film and also fetching Prakash Raj the Best Actor Award. Veteran filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan won the Best Director award for the Malayalam film Nallu Pennungal while Umashree was adjudged Best Actress for her portrayal in the Kannada film Gulabi Talkies.
While Bollywood failed to bag the top four honours, it did quite make up in the other categories. Leading the pack was Anil Kapoor's maiden production Gandhi My Father which bagged three awards for Best Screenplay (Feroz Abbas Khan), Best Supporting Actor (Darshan Jariwala) and even won the Special Jury award. Even Aamir Khan's directorial debut Taare Zameen Par was not one to be left behind. The film won awards for Shankar Mahadevan (Best Male Playback Singer) and Prasoon Joshi (Best Lyrics) for the soul-stirring song 'Maa', besides also bagging the Best Film on Family Welfare award.
King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan too had reasons to smile as two of his films Chak De India and Om Shanti Om bagged one National Award each. While Chak De India deservingly won the award for Best Film providing Overall Entertainment, Om Shanti Om bagged the award for Best Art Direction (Sabu Cyril).
Rituparno Ghosh's Big B- Arjun Rampal starrer The Last Lear bagged two awards winning the Best Feature Film in English and also fetching Shefali Shah the Best Supporting Actress award while the Shahid- Kareena smash-hit Jab We Met also bagged two awards for Best Choreography and Best Female Playback Singer (Shreya Ghoshal).
The Indira Gandhi award for the Best First Film of a Director went to Frozen while the Nargis Dutt award for Best Film on National Integration went to the Pankaj Kapoor starrer Dharm. Even Indian Films - Studio 18's war film 1971 won the award for Best Hindi film award in the regional films category.

Priyadarshan, who's shooting in distant Karaikudi, cannot believe his Tamil film Kanchivaram has won the National Award for best film. "Can you believe, in my career of 25 years as film director, this is the first time my film won an award. And that I've won it for Kanchivaram is a very special event for me. This film is very close to my heart," says the director emotionally, even as he prepares for the release of his next masala film De Dana Dan.
"Now when the critics see De Dana Dan, they'll say Priyan is back to his old tricks," chuckles the prolific director. "But I am proud of my masala films as well. It's very important for a film to get an audience. And my comedies are big successes. I can't fight success. I will continue to make the massy comedies," says the director whose films have often been accused if being wholesale adaptations of South Indian films.
Ironically, all his serious-toned films in Hindi, including the recent Billu with Shah Rukh Khan have been failures. "I've to make what the audience likes. But now, I also have to make films that are close to my heart."
"Kanchivaram is a completely original screenplay. And I'm really happy for my leading man Prakash Raj. He has breathed life into the role of the silk weaver. Sabu Cyril who has worked many times with me got the National Award for Best Art Direction. Sabu has made every frame look like a silk saree woven with love and care."
Sadly, Priyan missed out on the National Award for best director. "But no regrets. Adoor Gopalkrishnan is a colleague I greatly admire. He deserved it. I'm just glad to be finally recognized after all these years." Priyadarshan lost the award to the awards' favourite Adoor Gopalkrishnan who won for the Malayalam film Nalu Pennnugal.
Contrary to reports in a section of the press (put out by vested interests jumping the gun to create hype around their nominated films) Anil Kapoor's Gandhi My Father and Shah Rukh prestigious starrer Chak De have lost the 'Nargis Dutt Award for Best Film On National Integration' to Bhavna Talwar's Dharm.
Confirming this Dharm's producer Sheetal Talwar says, "Yes, our film has won the 'Nargis Dutt Award for Best Film on National Integration'. We're proud because the other nominee was Chak De India which was a very good film. My wife Bhavna is the first debutant director to win this award. Earlier, it has gone to stalwarts like Mani Ratnam."
The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh saw Dharm at a special screening some time ago. "The last time he had seen a film was Lage Raho Munnabhai," says Sheetal proudly.
However, Sheetal Talwar is miffed that Pankaj Kapoor has lost the Best Actor Award in Dharm to Prakash Raj. "I've seen Kanchivaram and it deserves every National Award that it has got. But I thought Prakash, though brilliant, was a little over-the-top. Pankaj, in our film was incredibly subtle and nuanced."
Prakash Raj has won the award for his sterling performance as silk weaver in Priyadarshan's Kanchivaram. This would be Prakash's second National Award. He earlier won the best supporting actor award for Mani Ratnam's Iruvar.
The film has also beaten the popular entry Taare Zameen Par for the best film category. Taare Zameen Par had to be content with winning the National Award for Best Film on Family Welfare.
The National Award for Best Actress has gone to Kannada politician-actress Umashree for Grirish Kasaravalli's Gulabi Talkies. Producers Bunty Wailia and Jaspreet Singh Walia have come out with a book on their forthcoming film LAMHAA, directed by Rahul Dholakia. The book highlights some great visuals from the film, also it gives an insight on what this film is all about. The reason why Dholakia decided to make this film also makes for interesting reading, besides, of course, the character sketches of the actors enacting various roles in this film.
Meanwhile, Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision, the producers of the much-awaited BLUE, will be coming up with a book within a week from now. Called 'The Blue Adventure', the book will give an insight into this film, besides the cast and crew sharing their experiences while working in it. Post CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA, Akshay Kumar and Nikhil Advani have joined hands once again, reinforcing the trust they've in each other's abilities. Nikhil's new project is titled PATIALA HOUSE and will team Akshay and Anushka Sharma in principal roles. In fact, this is the first film Anushka has signed outside of Yash Raj banner.
The film stars Rishi Kapoor in a pivotal role. "Besides, I've cast a lot of actors from U.K. since they'd add authenticity to the scenes. The story is based in Southall, U.K.," Nikhil informs me. What's the film all about? "It's a father-son story. The son gives up his dream to save his father's reputation, until he meets a girl who gives him the strength to stand up for what he believes. It's about second chances," Nikhil divulges.
PATIALA HOUSE will have its first schedule in India in December, followed by a marathon schedule in London from May to June-end. The source also added that the production team had to spend a fortune on that single day outdoor shoot for Preity as the film's director Prem Soni required a huge open air theater for the song which they managed to get in Dubai. The same source went onto add that "When Preity and director Prem Soni were brainstorming about the name of the choreographer who could do apt justice to this song, the only name that kept popping in their head was that was of Farah Khan. Not just that,with Farah Khan coming on board, both Prem Soni and Preity were just too happy!
A unit member from the same film informed us that, "Preity had a ten day rehearsal with Farah khan before she started shooting the song and everyday she would rehearse for a whopping 3 hours! She also was on a special diet and hardcore workout and yoga and swimming sessions, with just one basic motive: to be in shape for the song!"
All that we can do is to pat Preity on her back for exhibiting such dedication. Preityâ¦one only hopes that all this dedication and hard work of yours pays you and the film rich dividends. The latest one from Amul's stable is none other than that of (the most expected) 'Talk of the town', who all of you know as 'Quickgun Murugan'. The cartoon strip that Amul has come up with this time has a spoof of Quickgun Murugan that has the 'slo-gun'...we mean slogan reading 'Find It' which apparently rhymes in the same rhythm as Quickgun Murugan's catchphrase 'Mind It'.

A few months ago, we had informed you about the 'Big' deal between Reliance Big Entertainment and Steven Spielberg's DreamWorks where in DreamWorks will become a 50:50 joint venture between the Anil Ambani owned Reliance Big Entertainment and Steven Spielberg and Stacy Snider (CEO of DreamWorks Studios).
Now having completed all the legal formalities, DreamWorks is all set to start afresh with 3 new projects as the first installment of its line-up of films in Phase 1. The 3 projects which are a mix of adventure along with book / play adaptations are as follows:-
1. I Am Number 4 - The I Am Number 4 story line involves a group of teenage alien refugees assimilating to high school on Earth when they discover that their home planet's enemy is now hunting them on their new turf. DreamWorks has set Al Gough and Miles Millar (who have scripted films such as Spider Man 2, Shanghai Knights and Shanghai Noon) to adapt 'I Am Number 4', the novel co-written by James Frey and Jobie Hughes. In all probability Michael Bay, director of blockbuster films such as Transformers, Pearl Harbor and Armageddon, will direct this film
2. Pirate Latitudes â This film talks about a daring plan to infiltrate Port Royal, one of the world's richest and most notorious cities, and raid a Spanish galleon filled with treasure. Steven Spielberg is developing the film out of a posthumously published novel by the late Michael Crichton. Screenwriter David Koepp, who adapted Crichton's novels for Jurassic Park and its sequel The Lost World has been signed on to create the script for this film. Spielberg is producing the film and may even direct it himself. Speaking on developing Michael Crichton's novel into a film, Spielberg says, ''Michael Crichton was one of our greatest storytellers who expanded all of our imaginations with his books, films, and television. With the 'E.R.' series and Jurassic Park series, I enjoyed one of the best collaborations of my career. Now with Pirate Latitudes, I and all of us at DreamWorks have the chance to be excited about bringing this new Michael Crichton work to the screen''
3. Harvey - This would be a co-production between DreamWorks and 20th Century Fox. Steven Spielberg would be directing this film which is an adaptation of the Mary Chase Pulitzer Prize-winning play 'Harvey'
Stacey Snider (Co-Chair and CEO of DreamWorks Studios) was also equally excited at this new partnership and line-up of films from DreamWorks.
