Water main break causes flooding in LA area (AP)

A large underground water main that burst under Coldwater Canyon Blvd. at Dickens St. sends a flood of water rushing down Coldwater Canyon Blvd., across Ventura Blvd. and through homes and businesses. The Los Angeles Fire Department sent more than 20 companies to help if any rescues were needed. There are reports this was an old 72 inch water main. No injuries had been reported but there is and will be major flooding to many structures. The LAPD has shut down many streets in the neighborhood and a shelter had been set up for displaced residents. This week marked the opening of dolphin hunting season in Japan. During the six-month season, thousands of dolphins are corralled into narrow coves and captured for sale to aquariums or amusement parks. Those not captured are killed for meat. But this year, something different happened.
