Some of the biggest names from the film industry would be seen paying tribute to Michael Jackson on his 51st birthday. Come 29th of August and Shah Rukh Khan, Vishal and Shekhar, Shahid Kapoor, Shankar Mahadevan, Prabhu Deva, Priyanka Chopra and Yuvraj Singh amongst others would be featuring in a music video titled 'Make it Large- A tribute to Michael Jackson'.
It was Shah Rukh Khan's idea to get a tribute rolling for the music legend who passed away on 25th June this year.
Says Vishal Dadlani of Vishal-Shekhar duo, "The entire world was upset about his demise and so were Shekhar (Ravjiani) and I. We happened to meet Shah Rukh and he also expressed his thought about doing something that would be befitting the stature of the man who entertained us for decades. This is how the idea around the music video was born."
Vishal and Shekhar soon set a task for themselves and began working on the song. It was decided that the music video would be launched on 29th August to coincide with Michael Jackson's birthday. While Vishal also wrote the lyrics for the song, some of the best singers in the industry - Shankar Mahadevan, Shaan, KK and Shreya Ghoshal - were roped in come behind the mike.
"For the moment, the idea is to launch the music video across all music channels just for one day. It is available on Red Chillies Entertainment website though", informs Vishal who is currently holidaying in London.
Directed by Samar Khan, a close associate of Shah Rukh and director of films like Shaurya and Kuch Meetha Ho Jaaye,'Make it Large- A tribute to Michael Jackson' is also special since it features Prabhudeva who is yet again seen at his dancing best.
Also, the video features testimonials on Michael Jackson from Shah Rukh Khan himself along with Shahid Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma and Yuvraj Singh.
To extend the tribute, Vishal and Shekhar would also be allowing free download of the song at their website beginning 29th August.
"The video wasn't created for making money. It's a tribute and I am sure there are millions out there who would want to grab a copy of the song for themselves. We are more than glad to share our sentiments with the rest of the world", concludes

Starting from Awara Paagal Deewana to Shootout At Lokhandwala, Aarti Chhabria has been enjoying an eventful journey in Bollywood. She may not have hit the top bracket over the years gone by but Aarti is happy that she has survived well to create at least a small place for herself in the industry. As she gets ready for a double bill this Friday with Daddy Cool and Toss hitting the screens, she speaks to Joginder Tuteja about the journey so far and how she intends to do better work in time to come.
This Friday sees the release of two your films - Daddy Cool and Toss. Proves the saying that 'Bhagwaan jab deta hai to chappar phaad ke deta hai'?
[Laughs] Very true, it is actually a 'chappar phaad' moment. Of course I am excited and nervous but in a way tremendously happy too. This shows that I am pretty much alive and kicking in the industry. Last three weeks especially have been such a roller coaster ride while doing the promotion of both films. It has actually been a 24X7 job and a very tiring and hectic schedule. But do I mind that? Naah, not at all. I wish I have more such weeks in future as well.
Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 28 Aug 2009 | 6:55 am "Today Jackie Shroff is filling the gap that Dilip saab left behind" - Arbaaz Khan
It was a good 2008 for Arbaaz Khan as he was seen in diverse roles in films like Fashion, Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Naa and Woodstock Villa and appreciated for his performances. Though Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye, Jai Veeru and The Stoneman Murders didn't make any ripples this year, Arbaaz Khan is positive that Kisaan would certainly be noticed and appreciated for its theme, treatment and performances. Talking to Joginder Tuteja, he reemphasizes the fact that Kisaan remains entertaining (with box office in sight) even as the film takes audiences to a family in an Indian village.
In most of your films, you have played an urban guy. Was it challenging for you to actually adapt the psyche of someone who has a village as his origin?
Actually, my character in the film is urban since he has lived in the city for some part of his life for education purpose. Yes, but from origin perspective, he still has a village backdrop so those roots aren't missed. He was born and brought up in a village up to a certain age so as an actor I actually enjoyed the best of both worlds. It wasn't really difficult understanding what this character was all about.
This one appears to be a mix of a social film with a family drama at the centre of it. Is it the right way to describe it?
Bang on! Yes, Kisaan is a family drama with a backdrop of a 'kisaan' household. See, at the end of the day, a story has to be placed in some geography. Even if your story revolves around a father (Jackie Shroff) and his two sons (Sohail and myself), you need to have a backdrop. Now it could be a village or a city and we decided to take our film to the former.
Well, farmer suicide is not prevalent in cities...
Agreed and so do things like draughts and famines which do not impact them directly; though indirectly they do for sure. There are topics that generally effect people in villages, including return of bank loans, and we have touched upon them though in a subtle way without pegging the entire narrative of the film on them. Ultimately, at its core, the film remains to be a drama about a father and two sons. Even though there are issues that have been raised, Kisaan stays on to be a mainstream film. It has been taken care that entertainment quotient isn't compromised throughout the film's narrative.
You have mentioned a couple of time about Kisaan telling the story of a family with a father figure at the top. In the film you have Jackie Shroff as your father. It must have been some experience working with a veteran like him, right?
Absolutely. He is a stalwart in his own right, a great actor and a fantastic human being. He has done such fabulous work in Kisaan and people will see him in a new light as he plays the role of a man who is much older than his actual age. He has played his part with such conviction; hats off.

Kaminey is a good success, both critically as well as commercially, and now all of a sudden Shahid Kapoor finds himself in the super big league. While the Khans (Shah Rukh, Aamir, Salman) have been dominating from the top along with Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan, the success of Kaminey means that both Shahid Kapoor as well as Saif Ali Khan (who again delivered a huge money spinner in Love Aaj Kal) are already making actors in the Top-5 uncomfortable. As this Vishal Bhardwaj film continues to fetch audiences and reactions for itself in it's second week, Joginder Tuteja catches up with Shahid Kapoor who feels that the biggest success point for Kaminey is the fact that massy as well as niche audiences have given a Thumbs Up to a subject and a genre that has been hitherto unexplored.
For a film like Kaminey, even you would have expected mixed and extreme reviews, right? So weren't you surprised when you saw universally superb reviews coming the film's way?
Personally speaking, over and above the fact that the reviews have been very positive, what worked for me most was that Kaminey was a very well made film. Also, it was a difficult role that I had done which further makes the success sweeter. Now that people have liked the movie and appreciated me tremendously, something which is being reflected at the box office as well, the success thing has hit me hard. The film was a big risk in all ways.
Why do you say so?
It was a big risk to be going ahead with such a wide release for a film. Normally, a film belonging to such subject and genre would arrive at around 500-600 prints. However, we went all out with Kaminey and released it on 1300-1400 screens. My last film, Kismat Konnection, had come on 950 odd screens and that was my most wide spread release. So yes, in all ways it has been a great outing with Kaminey.
A project like this was always meant to be risky. So what do you think still worked in the film's favour that it got such wide spread appreciation.
The very fact that it was out of the box. In fact from the success of Kaminey, we can learn something. See, just a couple of years back we had Omkara. Till today we talk about it and it saw such huge critical acclaim coming its way. Unfortunately, it wasn't a big success commercially. Now two years down the line, we saw Kaminey which is something that's again different and out of the box. So what has really changes is the audiences' perspective in the time period gone by. Today they have opened up and are far more forthcoming and receptive to such cinema.
Coming to your performance in Kaminey, one thing is for sure that you would be nominated for Kaminey when the best of the best are announced for year 2009. Now the question is whether it would be for the best actor in the main lead or the best actor in a negative lead? Personally whom would you want the award to go - Guddu or Charlie?
[Laughs] Now I am all for this compliment! On a serious note though, I guess if at all I am nominated, both the actors would fall under just plain and simple 'Best Actor' category. After all it was a double role that I played and it should be looked in the perspective of both the actors being put together; you can't have them split. The film would be incomplete without Guddu or Charlie. [Smiles] In fact I remember that when Priyanka (Chopra) was being asked the same question, she said that she wanted the best of both worlds by having someone who had the heart of Guddu and looks of Charlie. Jokes apart, no point speculating about awards because honestly I don't like thinking about tomorrow.

IT-BPO industry body Nasscom has revised its 2012 forecast for animation industry from USD 1060 million to 830 million and for the gaming industry from USD 1163 million to 1000 million.
Factors which accounted for the revision were the global economic downturn, the poor showing of animation movies at the domestic box office and the proof of concept/IP creation not being up to expectations.
A recently launched report by Nasscom and Ernst & Young pegs the gaming industry to grow at a CAGR of 49% to reach USD 830 million and animation to grow at CAGR of 22% to reach USD 1 billion by 2012.
Despite the lowered projections, the report projects growth in the visual effects (VFX) component of the industry from USD 65 million in 2008 to 174 million in 2012, while animation education is expected to grow from USD 67 million to 173 million in the same period.
Som Mittal, President, NASSCOM said "The industry in 2008 was estimated to gross revenues of US $661 million in 2008, up from US $364 million in 2006.
Farokh Balsara, Partner & National Leader, Media & Entertainment Practice, Ernst & Young says,"India's pursuit to establish itself in the global animation and gaming arena is facilitated by quality and lower cost advantage, large scale availability of manpower along with cultural and English language synergies. We believe that this combined with growing consumer demand from the domestic market would provide the required boost for the industry in India."
The entry of global entertainment majors leading to co-production of movies, end-to-end production out of India, original IP creation and growth in the domestic market have been the main triggers for growth in animation, the report says.
Major animation films and vfx-heavy films expected later this year and in 2010 include Eros' Aladin and Toonpur Ka Superhero and UTV Motion Pictures' Alibaba and the 41 Thieves.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 27 Aug 2009 | 10:08 am Megan Fox not to play CatwomanMegan Fox will not play Catwoman, as it was earlier speculated. The Suit was filed by T-Series against M/s Zee Telefilms Ltd., asking for permanent injunction and damages against infringement of its copyright. In this Suit, an Interim Application was moved by T-Series praying for an interim injunction since Zee was using its copyright content without a valid license. The Court was pleased to pass an order directing Zee to pay an amount running into several crores in favour of T-series, as an interim measure. This order of Hon'ble High Court will act as a big deterrent for others who feel that the copyrighted content could be infringed with impunity without payment of license fee/royalty. In the hotly contested matter T-Series was represented by Mr. Dushant Dave, Senior Advocate for T-Series while Zee was represented by Mr. Harish Salve, Senior Advocate with Ms Pratibha M Singh. The dispute between the parties concerned relates back to the month of April 2009. In the earlier years, Zee had entered into a licensing arrangement with T-Series for using its copyrighted content in its programmes especially music based shows such as 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa'. However, once the period of said license was over on 31st March 2009, renewal arrangement could not be entered into for the period commencing from 1.4.2009 as Zee was not willing to pay the license fee which other contemporary Satellite Channels such as Sony, Star, Colors, etc. were paying to T-series. Not only that, Zee was also not willing to pay the outstanding dues of Rs.69 lacs originating from the earlier agreement which expired on 31.3.2009. Since Zee continued to use the copyrighted content of T-Series even after the expiry of the license agreement on 31.3.2009, being aggrieved, T-Series was constrained to file a Suit for permanent injunction and damages before the Hon'ble Delhi High Court. The matter was hotly contested before the Court by both the parties. T-Series pressed for an interim injunction against the violations being committed by Zee by using its content without a valid license. Alternatively, T-Series contended that if Zee wanted to use its content, payment should be made on the basis of its tariff card which was uniformly applicable for all Satellite Channels. The defence raised by Zee, inter alia, included that since the application for compulsory license under section 31 of the Copyright Act is pending before the Copyright Board, an injunction at this stage would be detrimental to its business and especially for its popular programmes such as 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa', which was a show for encouraging new talent. Another argument put forth by Zee was that T-Series was not owner of copyrighted content being used by Zee and, therefore, no case for infringement was made out. After hearing arguments of both the parties, a very important proposition of law was laid down by the Hon'ble Delhi High Court holding that there is no implied ouster and implicit bar on the Court to grant relief against infringement by mere filing of an application for compulsory license before the Copyright Tribunal at the behest of the Defendants. The reliance being placed by Zee on the decision of Apex Court in Entertainment Networks case was held to be misplaced by the Hon'ble Delhi High Court as it held that the decision of the Apex Court does not discuss/lay down this proposition in the manner relied upon by the Defendants. The Hon'ble Delhi High Court also reached a finding that the act of Zee in using the copyrighted content of T-Series are unlicensed acts for the year 2009-10 and, therefore, prima facie infringing acts within the meaning of Copyrights Act, 1957. The Court also dismissed the plea of the defendants that prima facie infringing acts constitute fair dealing as they are for promotion of talent or imparting training. The last plea raised by the Defendants that T-Series does not have any valid rights of works and, therefore, no case of infringement was made out was also dismissed by the Court by holding that there are several circumstances which established that these submissions are not correct such as - entering into earlier license agreement with T-series, paying license fee in the past and filing an application to the Copyright Board for compulsory license. It was finally held by the Court that a prima facie case had been made out for grant of injunction against infringing activities of Zee but on account of mitigating factors such as the injunction if granted would result in stoppage of popular programmes such as 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa', the Court maintained equity between the parties by directing Zee to pay past dues to T-Series and license fee amount running into several crores for the Financial Year 2009-10, after expiry of which, T-Series is at liberty to file a fresh application for injunction. Further Zee has been directed to furnish accounts pertaining to usage of copyrighted content owned by T-Series for the period 1st April 2009 to 1st August 2009 within two weeks of the date of the order and shall continue filing the same on monthly basis. The final quantum of damages on the basis of rate card of T-Series shall be determined by the Court and will be considered at the time of final stage of the Suit. The above order of Hon'ble Delhi High Court would act as deterrent for people who have scant respect for copy right law and will be a welcome relief to the copyright owners who invest substantial amounts in acquiring/creating original music.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 27 Aug 2009 | 7:05 am Time gap in Jackson death could prove key to case
