Randeep Hooda born in a small village called Daseya in Haryana did his schooling from Delhi Public School before moving to Australia for higher studies. He later went on to earn his Bachelors in Marketing & Human Resource Management.
However it was only in '01 that Randeep made his film debut in Monsoon Wedding, apparently he got the role in Monsoon Wedding primarily because of his Australian accent rather then his acting skills or good looks.
Unfortunately even after a powerful performance in Monsoon Wedding he had to wait for 4 years to get a second project. He finally got lucky and Ramgopal Verma cast him as lead in a gangster flick D in '05. D was a turning point in his career and he suddenly became a household name across the country.
And now coming out whit his next film Love Khichdi, Randeep Hooda will be here on Bollywood Hungama Celeb Chat to talk about his life, work, films and every thing else on August 24 at 1600 HRS IST.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 22 Aug 2009 | 6:50 am After Deepika, Priyamani set to conquer Bollywood

Source: Entertainment - Google News | 22 Aug 2009 | 4:20 am "I am not making Awards" - Madhur Bhandarkar
Madhur Bhandarkar is surprised around the rumours making the rounds that after Jail; he would be beginning work on Awards. More so because there also appears to be some official 'on-the-record' statements being made by certain individuals when he has personally not announced the film or declared it to the outside world.
"How can people talk or write about it without consulting me", fumes Madhur, who was perplexed when he read about the announcement on one fine morning, "Just imagine, I was myself reading it all for the first time as were you. I was in Sweden earlier this week. When the media was bombarding me with phone calls around the film, I was, in fact asking myself if I was indeed making the film. Some of them even started speculating around the cast of the film which is baffling when there is no script ready in the first place."
It was reported that his film titled Awards, for which there has been (apparently) 40 crores budget being allocated, would reveal behind-the-scenes drama and the inner workings of award functions. Also, it would take a sneak peak into 'camp system' in Bollywood and how awards are manipulated.
"Rubbish", Madhur dismisses it right away, "A subject may interest me and I may talk about it with a few people. Yes, I have considered this concept but I am not making Awards for now. In fact, I have around 10 ideas that I could be developing into films. I even have as many as three titles already registered. But that by no means equates to me going ahead and making a movie straight away. "
Awards sounds certainly scandalous and yet another expose film.
"Arrey, jahan jab dekho expose word judh jaata hai mere naam ke saath", smiles Madhur, "I want to try other genres also yaar. It could be a comedy or a romantic film or even a hard hitting drama. Let's see. In fact currently I am more focused on enhancing the profile of my production house 'Bhandarkar Entertainment'. Through this banner, I would also be roping in outside directors to make films for me."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 22 Aug 2009 | 4:06 am 'G.I. In Vishal Bhardwaj's Kaminey, Amole Gupte plays a Maharashtrian Mafioso. "And I had a ball! I could've made a career in acting in Mumbai. Years ago, I played the lead in Govind Nihalani's brother Dayal's film Gurudakshina. But I was wedded to the camera and the lens, not as an actor, but on much broader level. For ten years, I shifted to painting and lived a life of a painter."
How Amole was persuaded to do Kaminey is a story in itself.
Chuckles Amole, "From the moment the promos started, I was flooded with calls about the film and my look. Acting is an ongoing process. All day along we're acting in one way or another. So, I was never away from it. And in Taare Zameen Par, I lived every character from Little Ishaan (Darsheel) to the English and Hindi teachers Mr. Sen and Mr. Tiwari."
Recalling how he agreed to play the main villain in Kaminey Amole says, "I though it was a crank call. A man's voice named Honey introduced itself as Vishal Bhardwaj's casting director and offered me a very important role, in the same space and zone as Langda Tyagi in Omkara. I banged the phone down not believing a word of what he said."
But 'Honey' showed up in Amole's office. "He had my resume as an actor right from the time in 1981 when I did my first diploma film as an actor. Honey was aware of all my 108 films as an actor in student films, also Ketan Mehta's Holi and Dayal Nihalani's Guridakshina. They convinced me that I was an actor. Finally I had to meet Vishal. My wife Deepa and I knew Vishal and his wife Rekha from the time I was doing dubbing direction for Kamal Haasan's Chachi 420. And I love his films."
The 'creative director' of Taare Zameen Par is ready to direct another film Sapno Ko Ginte Ginte.
And like the much-acclaimed Taare, Sapnon...is also about the life and psychology of children.
Says Amole, "It took me so long to start another film after Taare Zameen Par, because I needed to tighten my script.
Amole is not really interested in casting a star in the film. "The kids are the star of Sapno Ko Ginte Ginte. But I do need a big brand to make the audience to come watch my film. However, the star shouldn't feel he is doing the film and the children a favour by being part of the film."
After Kaminey, Amole is ready to take on more acting assignments. "If it helps me to fund my film projects. But it has to touch me in some way. Otherwise I'd have become a permanent actor after Holi 22 years ago."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 22 Aug 2009 | 3:57 am TV actress beats, burns little maid f... - Times of India

But then, that's Salman Khan, whose forthcoming film Veer has invoked lots of curiosity, right from his looks, his brawn, his costumes to his heroine!
Well, for a change, it's not Salman Khan but his brother-in-arms Sohail Khan who looks like all set to become the talk of the town. If the 'pre-release news' is anything to go by, then, it's totally needless to say that Salman and gang definitely have got a winner in Veer. But wait! While the whole world is going gaga over Salman, one of Bollywood Hungama's most restless 'sources' just couldn't resist from posting the snaps from Veer, which has Sohail on a horseback alongwith bade bhai Salman Khan.
After having seen Sohail's 'brawned' look, one cannot just ignore the 'machoism' in his eyes. One just hopes that after winning the hearts with his cameo in Jaane Tu⦠Sohail does churn magic with his acting in Veer too!
While on Veer, news has it that this film is set around the year 1800 and has Salman doing many state of the art fight scenes. Apart from having Indian actors, the film will also feature numerous Western faces, including the daughter of top Hollywood actor Jean Claude Van Damme - Bianca Van Damme.

India's largest animation festival Anifest India '09 has been rescheduled to 18-20 September at the IIT Powai, Mumbai. The Animation Society of India (TASI), the organizers, had postponed the festival from August due to the swine flu scare.
Announcing the new dates, a TASI statement said, "We have close to 1,500 registered participants coming from all over the country. This year's TVCA films boast of some brilliant student, professional as well as teachers' films. Besides, a majority of our speakers have already confirmed their participation in September. So the stage is all set for a high energy animation carnival."
TASI also thanked the animation community for their support. "Post our decision to abort the festival in August due to the flu scare just days before the festival, we received tremendous support from the industry: our speakers, supporters, participants as well as well wishers of the community."
The complete content flow and session details will be online at the TASI website in two days. Pre-registration for the festival is closed but spot registrations will be open at the venue on the days of the festival, subject to availability of passes. The annual multi-day festival brings together experts from animation and allied mediums.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 21 Aug 2009 | 8:43 am Subhash K Jha speaks about Sikandar
Love and tenderness during times of distress, stress and terrorism.... Piyush Jha's film goes down that dark and treacherous road with a gentle grace, echoing the leisurely pace of a people whose lives once were tranquil.
Now the sound of bombs and guns breaks the serene quietude of the Valley, reminding us that paradise is on the verge of being lost.
Welcome to paradise lost.
Jha keeps his narrative purposely intimate. The characters seem more representative of the moral and ethnic conflicts that colour the verdancy than make strong socio-political statements on the plight of the violent Valley.
Wisely the narrative picks two talented children to play the protagonists. Parzaan Dastur (the cute little Sardarji from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai) plays a gawky adolescent wannabe footballer who for reasons that appear more circumstantial than metaphoric keeps getting repeatedly hit in the head by the football, nozzles, hands and feet.
Head start?
Ayesha Kapoor (her startling turn as the blind and mute girl in Black still fresh in our minds) is the prematurely mature and quiet thoughtful Nasreen. Veil and tragic carrying her schoolbag like an existential burden she walks the coniferous splendour with a quiet restlessness.
There aren't too many characters in this portable epic. The politicians' terrorists and maulavis form a muffled circle of cleaned-out conflict, and that suits the film's purposes fine as long as the drama doesn't get diluted.
Sadly the reservoir of resonances and echoes gets progressively smothered in the will to create a neat twist at the end of the tale that would work in A Wednesday, but not in a film that purports to draw a line of morality between terrorists and civilians in the Kashmir Valley.
Still, the stillness that surrounds the scenic splendour of Sikandar is never compromised. The director is discernibly in love with Kashmir though not to the extent of dwarfing the character when juxtaposed against the immense natural beauty of the Valley. Somak Mukherjee's camera kisses the valleys and streams without getting servile and soppy.
The two child actors are natural as far as the unnatural disturbances guiding the plot allow them to be. Sanjay Suri as the deceptively suave politician smiles mysteriously through an under-written role. Madhavan amply and intelligently fills the very limited space offered to him play the fence-walking army-man. Arunoday Singh as the not-so-reluctant terrorist had a watch able screen presence.
But somewhere in this short and sweet look at a paradise-subverted you miss that elevating quality which defines socio-political reality in cinematic terms. Nonetheless Sikandar is a sensitive and gentle depiction of life in an idyllic place where guns have overpowered the roses.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 21 Aug 2009 | 6:54 am Prime Focus VFX helps elevate G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra
Prime Focus VFX, a division of the India based post production house Prime Focus, has announced that it has contributed 124 visual effects shots for the Stephen Sommers-directed movie G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra from Paramount Pictures. Prime Focus' Los Angeles, Winnipeg and Vancouver visual effects studios
most notably provided expertise in previz, digital environments, fluid simulation and high-volume particle rendering for the movie's action-packed finale sequence involving a complicated aerial scene.
Prime Focus operates nine facilities in India, four in the UK and four in North America, with a talent pool of over 600 visual effects artists.
Prime Focus contributed roughly 70 visual effects shots for the finale's aerial sequence, which features a plane being eaten away by Nanomites, a U.S. developed bio-weapon usurped by evil forces that disintegrates metal on contact. Said Chris Bond, senior visual effects supervisor and president of Prime Focus VFX, ''This sequence
was particularly challenging because we weren't relying on any aerial photography, which would be nearly impossible to shoot at these speeds, but instead created nearly everything digitally â the plane, sky, clouds and the destructive Nanomites that eat away the plane.''
In addition to developing a custom toolset to generate 3D cloud and sky environments, Prime Focus built a Nanomite animation pipeline and a hybrid matte painting, environment and 3D animation pipeline. The company also dedicated extensive R&D to improving its in-house scene collaboration system that allowed its LA and Vancouver
offices to work seamlessly together.
''We created a system whereby no single shot lives as a whole, but rather as a collection of project, sequence or shot assets,'' explained Chris Harvey, visual effects supervisor for Prime Focus VFX in Vancouver. ''Assets could range from models, shaders, animations, scripts, light rigs and anything in-between. These assets would then
be assembled on the fly based on the specific requirements. This facilitated a number of important aspects to our pipeline - artists would always have the latest approved assets regardless of their global location, and we could make changes en masse and have them propagate through various levels of the show, shot, sequence and even across the entire project.''Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 21 Aug 2009 | 6:54 am Akshay tattoos 'Blue' on his neck for his upcoming film
We all know that how Bollywood actors, these days have nose-dived into method acting in order to get into the 'skin' of the character. A perfect example is in the form of the eternal 'Perfectionist' Aamir Khan and his dedication towards any roles that he plays. Seems like, Akshay has decided to walk the same path, but in his impeccable 'Khiladi' style. That explains the reason as to why the actor has been seen sporting a 'Blue;' tattoo on his neck. And the reason is that 'Blue' is also the name of his upcoming underwater action flick starring a whole bunch of B-town residents for company!
Produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. and directed by debutant director Anthony D'souza, Blue has sure spiked up everyone's curiosity with its promise of breathtaking underwater sequences, thrills, adventure and fast paced action. For starters, Akshay Kumar plays the character of a rich businessman who is obsessed with money and is thirsty for more who does not hesitate to flaunt his arrogance and status.
Based on the oceans, the significance of Blue doesn't end here. He even owns a business called 'Blue Shipping & Fisheries'.
Blue's director Anthony thought it would be a brilliant idea to have 'Blue' tattooed on the back of Akshay's neck as it would add 'that' extra edge to his character. While it was sheer presence of mind to call Akshay's character as 'Aarav', as he had already inked his son's name 'Aarav' on his back.
Looks like Akshay has once again proved his dedication to his craft and his penchant for perfection. What really needs to be seen is that whether Akshay's fellow actors go 'Red' looking at Akshay's 'Blue'!Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 21 Aug 2009 | 6:52 am Eat salad, not samosa, suggests Sanjeev KapoorWith office canteens selling unhealthy snacks such as patties, noodles, samosas and life becoming increasingly busy, the Indian urban class needs to take urgent notice of their calorie intake, says celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 21 Aug 2009 | 6:00 am Taandon's bridal collection offers 'perfect wedding dress'With the wedding season round the corner designer Reynu Taandon is giving to-be brides something to look forward to with her bridal collection of bright, colourful saris, lehengas and suits.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 21 Aug 2009 | 5:01 am 'Smile Pinki' protagonist waiting for promised welfare schemesWhat happened to the promised hospital, school, community centre and other welfare schemes that were announced for the village in Uttar Pradesh where eight-year-old Pinki, the protagonist of Oscar-winning documentary "Smile Pinki", lives, her family is wondering.Source: Entertainment News | 21 Aug 2009 | 4:26 am Designer says 'Fashion' was bad, plans Shahid Kapoor starrerHe was so disappointed with Madhur Bhandarkar's celluloid take on the fashion industry that designer Rahul Jain has decided to wield the megaphone himself.Source: Entertainment News | 21 Aug 2009 | 3:06 am
