"We are very afraid that piracy may affect our collections," says a concerned Priyanka Chopra because Kaminey is not releasing in Mumbai and Pune this Friday due to the Swine Flu scare. "As a citizen I'm worried (about Swine Flu), we all have to be careful and cautious. I hope once it's over people will come and watch the film." As has been reported earlier, due to the Maharashtra Government shutting theatres in Mumbai and Pune, Kaminey shall not be releasing before Sunday.
"The critics have really loved the film and we are hoping that people won't indulge in piracy and instead actually watch the film in theatres because the experience of watching Kaminey with its sound quality on big screen is something else. It will never be the same on pirated version. It's my request, we've put in our blood, heart and soul in the film, just support us, support the film, do justice to the movie," says Priyanka earnestly.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 13 Aug 2009 | 8:12 am GI Joe star Tatum stripped to earn

Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 13 Aug 2009 | 4:35 am Rishi Kapoor hints at Ranbir starring in Imtiaz Ali's next
If things move as per the plans, Ranbir Kapoor would soon find himself working with ace filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, who has just delivered a big money spinner in the form of Love Aaj Kal. Confirmation comes from Rishi
Kapoor himself who is positive that the two youngsters would soon be collaborating on a project.
"I am positive that in 2010, Imtiaz and Ranbir would be beginning a film together. They have been meeting on a regular basis and are just looking at finalizing on something concrete before they make a formal announcement", says Rishi Kapoor who was recently seen in Love Aaj Kal.
Prod him further on the genre, subject, leading lady and the production house and Rishi Kapoor denies being in the know-how of affairs.
"I never get involved in the creative aspects of Ranbir's films. He takes all his decisions himself. All I know is that Ranbir working with Imtiaz would be a great decision since I have now witnessed Imtiaz's sensibilities on a first hand basis after working with him", Rishi Kapoor says.
Playing the role of Veer Singh in Love Aaj Kal, Rishi Kapoor got quite some appreciation coming his way for his Sikh portrayal.
"While working on the film, I realized that this boy is so cultured, sensible and simple", he gushes about the three film old director, "There is a saying that one's character gets reflected in his work. It was there for everyone to see in Love Aaj Kal which was so honest and sincere, just like Imtiaz.
Coming back to Ranbir and Imtiaz association, it would be interesting to see how things materialise in weeks to come. For Ranbir it would be yet another addition of an accomplished filmmaker in his repertoire. During last two years he has worked with veterans like Sanjay Leela Bhansali (Saawariya), Raj Kumar Santoshi (Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahanis) and Prakash Jha (Rajneeti).
Also, he has been a favourite amongst the young blood, as evidenced in his association with Siddharth Anand (Bachna Ae Haseeno), Shimit Amin (Rocket Singh - Salesman Of The Year) and Ayan Mukerji (Wake Up Sid).
On the other hand, Imtiaz Ali is taking his own time to announce his next project. In the recent past, he has already curbed rumours around reviving Rockstar (which was earlier supposed to star John Abraham). There have also been murmurs around him working with Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor in his next project but he has denied reports. Naturally, he is cautious before committing on Ranbir and him coming together on the project.
"Honestly speaking, nothing has been finalised yet", says Imtiaz, "Yes, Ranbir and I have been meeting each other for quite some time and have been bouncing off story
ideas. Still, we are yet to close on a story line. I have always placed my story before anything else. Whether it is Love Aaj Kal, Jab We Met or Socha Na Tha, the
story has always been of paramount importance."
So is he or is he not signing Ranbir Kapoor? "I definitely want to work with him. However, I will announce my cast once the story is finalised. Making any comments before that would be immaterial and unwarranted", he says in a guarded tone.
With Rishi Kapoor being highly positive around Ranbir-Imtiaz association, all eyes are now on Imtiaz making a formal announcement around his next film. After all Love
Aaj Kal is now out on screens and it is high time that Imtiaz open his cards and breaks the suspense.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 13 Aug 2009 | 4:25 am DD's Golden Jubilee fest begins - MSN India

For Tusshar, Life Partner would be his first release in 2009 after a super successful Golmaal Returns that had hit the screens last year. Even though this film too follows a pucca commercial route, Tusshar asserts that the film has ample moments as suited to a family drama that would be pretty much identifiable for the common man. He talks to Joginder Tuteja about the fun entertainer where he and Fardeen Khan play thick friends, though with distinct views about the institution of marriage.
Are we looking at an out and out comedy in Life Partner? Considering the fact that there have been so many 'three men out' or 'four men out' flicks in the recent past, one tends to believe so.
I would rather put Life Partner into a family film genre than calling it a comedy film. It stays light hearted throughout though. Like so many family films, there are no separate comedy tracks in Life Partner. Humour comes intrinsically through the way characters behave. The film shows me in a different light when compared to some out and out comic characters that I have played during last few years.
True, this time around you are pretty much playing a married man.
[Laughs] Yeah, that's quite a transition actually. I play this Gujarati man in South Africa who is very traditional and is almost a 'bhakt' of his father [Darshan Zariwala]. As per him, his father is nothing short of God and is always right. He can never dream of going against him. With his wife (Prachi Desai), he lives in a joint family but soon there are some personal issues that creep in between them. There is this 'halki-phulki nok-jhonk' that can be witnessed but it is more of a cultural issue than anything else. For the first time I am playing a Gujju character and that too a man who starts off as a single, gets married and then also divorced!

He is wild, mad and sometimes can get even. Just like his character Mikhail, who is Charlie's (Shahid Kapoor) friend in Kaminey. No disrespect here but he is passionately insane and highly intelligent. He can read your mind. So on a hot and surprisingly sunny afternoon when we visit Chandan Roy Sanyal aka Mikhail, he offers us something that we couldn't comply but had to resist. A nice chilled beer was left with no takers. He remarks, "I love my alcohol, do you?" His looks are deceptive too. We thought he was going to be dark skinned, tall and slim. So when UK's Harrow Observer columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent met the juvenile actor at his house, he was surprised to find him a five feet something, fair skinned and fit. But he did come across as a weirdo, in a good way. When you walk into his living room, your eyes are a witness to a glass framed posters of Kill Bill, Pink Floyd, Radiohead and Trainspotting, and a shocker: An American flag in his bedroom. That is Chandan Roy Sanyal for you!
Mikhail is mad and wild in Kaminey. How much of a mad man are you in real life?
I am mad like Mikhail, sometimes though. In the film, my role is over the top. He is melodramatic too. Vishal Bhardwaj saw Mikhail living his life on the edge. He is funny, naughty, sexy and can fall anytime, but he isn't scared of that. I am like that in real life.
Do you remember the first day of your shoot for Kaminey?
Of course yes, I do. I got the script mailed to me in the U.S and I returned back to India a week before the shoot of the film began. The first day of the shoot was my song 'Dhan Te Nan'. The set was put up somewhere in Andheri. It was raining heavily at that time. I had long curly hair but Vishal sir wanted them to be straightened. It became a mess and I had to chop it off a bit. One my first day I wasn't given a script. I was only informed about my character that is a bit wild and mad. I kept talking for twenty minutes on my own and then improvised the dialogue just before the song starts.
It must be so fascinating to see people just walk past you without recognizing you. Isn't it?
Yes it does. I'll tell you what has been happening these days with me. When I go to any café or a cinema, they play 'Dhan Te Nan' sometimes. I hear a lot of young crowd saying, "This guy with Shahid is really crazy. He is all over the place. He is mad." I am standing behind them having a cigarette and they are talking about me. Suddenly they turn and say, "Excuse me", and leave. I feel like an invisible man in a room. It's fun.
As you come from the theatre background, did you manage to give your inputs to Shahid on him playing Charlie?
It was the other way round. He gave me a lot of inputs in terms of technicalities of acting. I used to get carried away with my emotions but he told me to show my face on the right as the camera was overlooking us from the right. I would go off frame, etc. There was an action scene where I had to punch Shahid. When Vishal sir said 'action' I punched him so hard that he was in severe pain. I was thinking of myself as Puneet Issar at that time (laughs). That's the time we broke the ice and we got along really well. Most of my scenes in Kaminey are with Shahid.
What about Priyanka Chopra?
I haven't got a chance to interact with her because we do not share any scene together from the film. I did see her perform in front of the camera and I think she is a rock star.
What should people look out for in Kaminey?
I think the humour. It is not over the top and it's a film where people are getting killed and you are laughing. That's the effect Kaminey will leave on you.
It's a film where people are getting killed and you are laughing
Any kind words about your performance from Shahid and Vishal?
Yes. I do remember. It was Rekha Bhardwaj's party (Vishal sir's wife). Everyone had gone down after the party got over and Vishal sir and I went for a fag. That's when he told me, 'Tu bahut g***du actor hain.' I received a text from Shahid which read, 'Shonamuni (sweetie pie)...you have arrived!'Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 13 Aug 2009 | 2:44 am Sanjay Dutt set to scare as Ringmaster in 'Aladdin'After being seen as a baddie with a heart of gold in the Munnabhai series of films, Sanjay Dutt is set to don the avatar of deadly gangster Ringmaster in 'Aladdin'.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 13 Aug 2009 | 2:32 am Southern stars Selvaraghavan, Sonia file for divorceTamil director Selvaraghavan and his actress wife Sonia Agarwal have filed for divorce with mutual consent in a family court here.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 13 Aug 2009 | 2:32 am Decade later, Salman Khan the singer returnsA decade after he was last heard as a singer, Salman Khan is back behind the mike for his upcoming release Wanted. Madhur Bhandarkar and his fixation for everything which is 'real' is much known. So much so that in his upcoming release Jail, he has incorporated an item number which would have a Chandni Bar setting to it. Not just that, the song would feature Sayali Bhagat in a guest appearance.
Confirming the news, Madhur Bhandarkar says, "The song is titled 'Bareli Ka Bazaar' and has a beer bar setting to it. I have shot the number in a completely real life manner, just like Chandni Bar was shot. Since the setting is similar, everything from look, ambience to the background had to appear real."
This is not the first time though that Sayali Bhagat is appearing in an item number. After making her debut with box office flop The Train (2007) [Emraan Hashmi, Geeta Basra], Sayali Bhagat was seen in the Halla Bol (2008) where she had gyrated to the tune of 'Is Pal Ki Soch'. She also acted in films like Good Luck, Kirkit and Paying Guests but each of them disappeared without a trace.
"Her song in Jail is pretty much integral to the script", assures Bhandarkar, "I have never infused a song in any film of mine just for the sake of it and have always believed in a song taking the story forward. Same is the case with 'Bareli Ka Bazaar' and audiences would see it for themselves that it is in fact an integral part of the film."
Composed by Bhandarkar's favourite Shamir Tandon (who has also composed for his Traffic Signal, Corporate and Page 3), 'Bareli Ka Bazaar' is sung by Sonu Kakkar who shot to fame with 'Babuji Zara Dheere Chalo' [Dum] more than half a decade back. Sonu has also sung a version of 'O Sikandar' for Madhur's Corporate.
Though Sayali got quite some flak coming her way after the release of Paying Guests due to her weight, she has worked hard to get in shape for Jail. "She has lost a lot of weight for the film and is looking very different", says Madhur, "Her entire look has been changed for the song which has an authentic Indian appeal to it. She has turned out to be stunner in the film and is looking great in her slim and trim avtar."
Since this Ganesh Acharya choreographed song is quite high on energy, it required Sayali to go through an intense rehearsal grill before she hit the sets. "It was great to see the way this girl worked so hard for her guest appearance in the film", Madhur says in an appreciative tone, "She rehearsed for number of days to get the steps perfect and would be seen slogging hard for 4-5 hours at stretch. I am extremely happy with the results and I am sure that 'Bareli Ka Bazaar' would be one highlight number of the season once Jail releases."
With the completion of the song shoot last week, Jail has now wrapped up and is heading towards post production. Starring Neil Nitin Mukesh in the lead along with Mugdha Godse, Majoj Bajpai, Arya Babbar and Chetan Pandit, Jail is a co-production of Percept Picture Company and Bhandarkar Entertainment. As of now the film is headed for a 23rd October release.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 13 Aug 2009 | 2:12 am Swine flu disaster for 'Kaminey' - Times of India

After the bang of reality shows on various television channels, a UK based production house called Tearpol Motion Pictures is producing a film on the reality shows. The movie stars TV actors Shabbir Ahluwalia, Yash Tonk, Kushal Punjabi, Tanaaz Irani and Bhakthiyaar Irani..
Titled as Kisses Love Phillums and Dosti (KLPD), the film will go on floors by the end of August and will be shot from to start to end in Bangkok. Incidentally, the movie stars TV actors who themselves have been a part of reality shows on small screen.
Producer Sunny Nirula says, "It's a very different concept, not exactly based on the current trend of reality shows, but it showcases a group of people behind the cameras playing a game of a reality. It addressed some social issues in a humorous way though. "
The producer chose to stick around with small screen actors. He says, "We decided to have an out of the box star cast. They are popular TV stars and have a huge fan following. Having big names in your films is just making a 'whole' in the pocket."
It is a 35-day schedule extensively shot in an apartment. The movie will release by the end of the year.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 12 Aug 2009 | 10:57 am Kaminey and Life Partner won't release in Mumbai on Aug 14
The swine flu scare has really caught on big time and now after Pune, this morning the state government has also alerted Mumbaikars to stay away from crowded places. In fact, a directive has been issued ordering shutting down of schools, colleges and educational institutions for a week while even recreational centers like malls and multiplexes have been asked to be shut down for next three days.
With multiplexes having to shut shop, the question on everyone's mind is what will happen to the fate of this week's two new releases Kaminey and Life Partner. Both the movies are eagerly awaited and have created tremendous buzz among the junta and industry insiders. Besides this being a long holiday weekend (Friday is Janmashtami), it has indeed put the makers in a dilemma situation whether to go ahead with the release or not?
When Bollywood Hungama got in touch with Preeti Shahni of Studio 18 to find out about the release status of Life Partner, Sandeep Bhargava of Indian Films said, "We are releasing the film on this Friday the 14th of August with an exception of Mumbai and Thane. It was very late to withdraw and push the release, as all our prints have already been dispatched across India and the overseas territory as well."
Meanwhile speaking about the release status of Kaminey, Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO, UTV Motion Pictures, said "There is immense buzz and anticipation around the release of Kaminey which is clearly one of the most awaited films of the year. There is already a heavy rush for the Paid Previews of the film nationwide and in US/ UK & Dubai. We are going ahead with the release of the film this Friday across the country and worldwide in 1200 screens. However, this will not include the markets of Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai following the directive given by the government. We look forward to release the film in these regions as soon as the cinemas are given permission to re-open. Being a corporate we are fully insured for the two day delay we are facing in these markets"
Going by this, one thing is certain that Mumbaikars will certainly not get their dose of Bollywood this Friday.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 12 Aug 2009 | 10:40 am Sharman Joshi plays gangster in Allah Ke Bande
Sharman Joshi best known, as a comedy actor will be now seen in a completely different avtar. The actor is also known for experimenting with various roles and for the first time will be seen in a gangster role in his next film Allah Ke Bande.
Sharman says, "It is surely a role I have never played before. It is on the lines of what I played in my first movie Godmother. It is about the boys of slums, how at a tender age commit crime and go behind bars. After their exit from prison is the character played by me (Vijay) and my director Farukh Kabir (Yakub)."
The versatile actor has been in a string of comedy roles and has been appreciated for it too. On playing a serious character he says, "I always go with my instinct. Variety is a spice of life and that's what keeps me going. It is not every time you get to play different genre roles. When Farukh came with the script, I at once liked it and agreed to be a part of it. The director has also written the script and screenplay for the same. And for someone who has done that exactly knows his job, and the movie has turned out to be really well."
Director Farukh gave a series of documentaries and print interviews of juvenile crime to the actor for better understanding of his role. He not only worked on his facial looks but also his physical appearance. He says, "We shot in real prisons for around 15-20 days. I really didn't interact much with the kids in the prison but did hear some really wild stories about their crime at such a tender age."
Sharman has not only worked on his facial looks but also his physical appearance. Make-up artist Vikram Gaikwad who has worked on films like Rang De Basanti has worked on Sharman's look.
Allah Ke Bande highlights a major issue - kids being used for armed conflicts and separatist movements. Having a formidable star cast comprising of Sharman Joshi, Naseeruddin Shah, Anjana Sukhani, Atul Kulkarni, Zakir Hussain and Anupam Kher, the movie is due to release on October 30.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 12 Aug 2009 | 10:36 am Rajat Sharma to launch another 24x7 news channel - Sify

Rishi Kapoor has been enjoying an eventful 2009 so far. Though he may not quite count movies like Delhi 6 or Kal Kissne Dekha at the top of his list, there have been some really powerful characters that he has played in Luck By Chance and now Love Aaj Kal. As he continues to gather accolades for his memorable performance in Love Aaj Kal that has proved to be yet another milestone in his 36 year long career, Rishi Kapoor talks to Joginder Tuteja about the success of his character Veer Singh, his doubts around the narrative of the film and most importantly, the genuine fondness that he has for Imtiaz Ali who is now sitting pretty amongst the top directors of the country.
Veer Singh has become quite a popular name in the fortnight gone by. A historical moment in your long career.
Yes indeed. The kind of affection and reactions that I have got from the audiences is so reassuring. It makes you believe that you would have done something right to get such appreciation coming your way. Actually if you look at it, in reality it's the character that has scored so well. Veer Singh had so many of his portions in the film's flashback and all credit to Imtiaz's perception of the character that made it all happen. The love story of this Sardar was loved and even though there was Saif playing the younger version, I am happy that at the end of the day, Veer Singh is being remembered.
Working with Imtiaz must have been a unique experience considering the fact that he was perhaps born when you started playing male leads.
I must tell you that he is one boy who has a great soul. Isme jo khuddaari hai woh dekhne laayak hai! Otherwise there are so many people in the industry, both young and old, who don't even wish you while passing by, let aside respecting you. And here was this boy, with a super-successful film like Jab We Met behind him, who was still so cultured and balanced.

Source: Entertainment - Google News | 12 Aug 2009 | 8:33 am Sonam, Abhay will start shooting for Ayesha this month
Abhay Deol is down in Mumbai from New York to shoot for Anil Kapoor's production starring his daughter Sonam Kapoor. The shooting of the delayed project finally starts on August 27.
Abhay is now focusing entirely on full preparation the desi adaptation of Emma from August 27. Rehearsals and preparations have been on full-blast.
The methodical actor has been taking Salsa lessons to play his character. Says Abhay, "I know there were rumours about the future of the film. There always will be rumours about everything. I'm taking Salsa lessons for my character from my choreographer Ashley Lobo. After this, I've to start taking riding lessons. So work is on full swing."
Abhay admits he hasn't read Jane Austen's novel as part of his preparation for Ayesha. "But all of Jane Austen's heroes have some distinctive traits," he states.
Abhay has been in regular rehearsals with Sonam Kpaoor. Ayesha would seem like a far more conventional film than the quirky off-mainstream character he has been playing. "You forget I started my career with a romantic comedy. Imtiaz Ali's Socha Na Tha."
Imtiaz and Abhay started their careers together. Yet, like Raj Kumar Santoshi did with Abhay's cousin Sunny, Imtiaz seems to have moved on. "Where has he moved to?" is Abhay's clever repartee. "When he has a script for me, he'll tell me I'm sure. Both of us are busy with our own films."
Ayesha will be shot in Delhi, Mumbai and Rishikesh. So Abhay will be in India for a while. "I've to go to the US back in October. I've other acting offers in Mumbai. But I'm in no hurry to sign. I'm right now focusing on my production house, besides Ayesha."
Abhay wants to buy an apartment in New York. But the kind of money that he's offered in Bollywood won't pay for the home in the US. Says Abhay, "I've looked at a place that I like in New York. But it's too early to buy any property. I need to earn money first. That's why I'm starting my own production house Forbidden Films , so I can work for myself and pay myself with the profits and really get to know my market value. Everybody needs money. I'm not here to do charity."
Abhay has finished a script and he's now looking at a director for his first production.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 12 Aug 2009 | 7:32 am "No, I didn't back track" - Emraan Hashmi
Emraan Hashmi is not just frustrated, he is also terribly hurt. He would have thought that after a hearing at the Minorities Commission Office on Monday, the matter around an alleged discrimination by a Housing society had finally come to a sane resolution. However, that doesn't appear to be the case as he is continuing to face some (unwarranted) flak. He is being accused of 'back tracking' from his earlier claim of 'discrimination' by claiming that the entire 'controversy' arose due to some 'miscommunication'.
"All this is so disappointing", rues Emraan, "A certain section of the Press has given a statement stating that I back tracked from my word. Sorry, I never back tracked. I did have all the reasons to believe that I was discriminated by the Housing society on religious grounds."
It was being stated that Emraan Hashmi took a U-turn by claiming that there was after all no discrimination against him.
"No, that's not the case", Emraan sticks to his guns, "Yesterday we had a hearing at the Minorities Commission Office. In this hearing, I stuck to what I had said a week back that I had reasons to believe that I faced discrimination by a Housing Society on religious grounds. And I am saying this on the records. I want to clear the air once for and all."
Apparently, the Minorities Commission wanted to resolve the issue peacefully. "Who wouldn't want that", questions Emraan, "It's the right thing to do. Even the Commission felt that that the matter was blown out of proportion and had been widely politicized. The best way to handle it was to follow a peaceful route."
It is expected that the final verdict would soon be announced by Mr. Abraham Mathai of the Minorities Commission. "I abide and respect whatever they have decided. I agree 100% with their verdict. Even the Society members and the Owner have stated that maybe there was a miscommunication. They have also claimed that they had not denied me the flat on the basis of my religion. That's good", Emraan heaves a sigh of relief here.
There were also murmurs that his parents had misbehaved at the Society meeting on 26th July'09. "Give me the names of the people who told you this. Why don't people come out and openly make such statements? Not a single Society member has stated so. I am shocked at such accusations when nothing like this happened at all," he sets the records straight.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 12 Aug 2009 | 7:31 am Abhay Deol takes Salsa lessons for 'Ayesha'From Salsa lessons to riding classes - Abhay Deol, who is back here from New York to shoot "Ayesha", is neck deep in preparations for the film that is going to hit the floors on Aug 27.Source: Entertainment News | 12 Aug 2009 | 7:15 am Kiran has had a miscarriage: Aamir KhanAamir Khan's wife Kiran Rao has suffered a miscarriage, the Bollywood superstar disclosed on Tuesday.Source: Entertainment News | 12 Aug 2009 | 7:11 am Swine flu hits Kaminey? It seems filmmaker Vishal Bhardawaj's film Kaminey is jinxed, as Priyanka and Shahid’s sweet romance went sour, Shahid and Vishal also got into a ugly fight.
