Sonam, Abhay will start shooting for Ayesha this month

Abhay Deol is down in Mumbai from New York to shoot for Anil Kapoor's production starring his daughter Sonam Kapoor. The shooting of the delayed project finally starts on August 27. Abhay is now focusing entirely on full preparation the desi adaptation of Emma from August 27. Rehearsals and preparations have been on full-blast. The methodical actor has been taking Salsa lessons to play his character. Says Abhay, "I know there were rumours about the future of the film. There always will be rumours about everything. I'm taking Salsa lessons for my character from my choreographer Ashley Lobo. After this, I've to start taking riding lessons. So work is on full swing." Abhay admits he hasn't read Jane Austen's novel as part of his preparation for Ayesha. "But all of Jane Austen's heroes have some distinctive traits," he states. Abhay has been in regular rehearsals with Sonam Kpaoor. Ayesha would seem like a far more conventional film than the quirky off-mainstream character he has been playing. "You forget I started my career with a romantic comedy. Imtiaz Ali's Socha Na Tha." Imtiaz and Abhay started their careers together. Yet, like Raj Kumar Santoshi did with Abhay's cousin Sunny, Imtiaz seems to have moved on. "Where has he moved to?" is Abhay's clever repartee. "When he has a script for me, he'll tell me I'm sure. Both of us are busy with our own films." Ayesha will be shot in Delhi, Mumbai and Rishikesh. So Abhay will be in India for a while. "I've to go to the US back in October. I've other acting offers in Mumbai. But I'm in no hurry to sign. I'm right now focusing on my production house, besides Ayesha." Abhay wants to buy an apartment in New York. But the kind of money that he's offered in Bollywood won't pay for the home in the US. Says Abhay, "I've looked at a place that I like in New York. But it's too early to buy any property. I need to earn money first. That's why I'm starting my own production house Forbidden Films , so I can work for myself and pay myself with the profits and really get to know my market value. Everybody needs money. I'm not here to do charity." Abhay has finished a script and he's now looking at a director for his first production.

"No, I didn't back track" - Emraan Hashmi

Emraan Hashmi Emraan Hashmi is not just frustrated, he is also terribly hurt. He would have thought that after a hearing at the Minorities Commission Office on Monday, the matter around an alleged discrimination by a Housing society had finally come to a sane resolution. However, that doesn't appear to be the case as he is continuing to face some (unwarranted) flak. He is being accused of 'back tracking' from his earlier claim of 'discrimination' by claiming that the entire 'controversy' arose due to some 'miscommunication'. "All this is so disappointing", rues Emraan, "A certain section of the Press has given a statement stating that I back tracked from my word. Sorry, I never back tracked. I did have all the reasons to believe that I was discriminated by the Housing society on religious grounds." It was being stated that Emraan Hashmi took a U-turn by claiming that there was after all no discrimination against him. "No, that's not the case", Emraan sticks to his guns, "Yesterday we had a hearing at the Minorities Commission Office. In this hearing, I stuck to what I had said a week back that I had reasons to believe that I faced discrimination by a Housing Society on religious grounds. And I am saying this on the records. I want to clear the air once for and all." Apparently, the Minorities Commission wanted to resolve the issue peacefully. "Who wouldn't want that", questions Emraan, "It's the right thing to do. Even the Commission felt that that the matter was blown out of proportion and had been widely politicized. The best way to handle it was to follow a peaceful route." It is expected that the final verdict would soon be announced by Mr. Abraham Mathai of the Minorities Commission. "I abide and respect whatever they have decided. I agree 100% with their verdict. Even the Society members and the Owner have stated that maybe there was a miscommunication. They have also claimed that they had not denied me the flat on the basis of my religion. That's good", Emraan heaves a sigh of relief here. There were also murmurs that his parents had misbehaved at the Society meeting on 26th July'09. "Give me the names of the people who told you this. Why don't people come out and openly make such statements? Not a single Society member has stated so. I am shocked at such accusations when nothing like this happened at all," he sets the records straight.

Well, the good news for all the Rambha fans is that this damsel is back in Bollywood with a vengeance, with a film called Quick Gun Murugan, whose mere title is curiosity enough to garner eyeballs by a ton. For starters, Quick Gun Murugan is a film about a superhero with the grit of Clint Eastwood and the glam of our own South Indian superstars. Rambha's look in the film has been designed essentially to enhance her character called 'Mango Dolly', who happens to be a blonde sultry seductress. But the real fact is that she is not what she appears to be. Instead, she is someone who, in reality is a gangster's moll, with her looks styled on the lines of a modern day Barbie Doll. You really have to hold onto your horses till August 28, 2009, as that's the day when you will get to hear Quick Gun Murugan say 'Mind It' to his enemies, needless to say, with Mango 'Rambha' Dolly by his side!

Asin upset with her imposters on Orkut, Facebook or Twitter

"Hey there... Asin is using Twitter," declares the latest social networking website, and then goes on to give us gems like "I want to act in a Tamil movie" from the actress. There's just one problem. Asin is not on Twitter... or any of the social networking websites. And she can't laugh off the impersonations any longer. Asin has a very serious problem. She has impersonators on all the major social-networking sites. "I was ready to overlook these fake IDs using my name as long as they weren't harmful. But now the problem is getting out of hand." The other night a colleague had a whole long conversation with 'Asin' and called up the next day to share her excitement about what an intimate conversation they had. "I nearly fell off my chair. I won't name this actress. But she said we shared our most intimate secrets on Facebook. I nearly fell off my chair and asked her whom did she share her secrets with because it was most certainly not me. Two days ago, a journalist came to interview me and said she got all the information on me from what I had written on Twitter. For the record, I'm not on any of the social-networking websites. Apart from my own website, I am not on the internet for any other purpose. I started blogging even before Aamir did in August 2005,"Asin declares proudly. Asin is aghast. "I was clubbed with Chetan Bhagat and Shashi Tharoor and put on a social networking website. But I'm not on Orkut, Facebook or Twitter. Apparently, there are lots of fake profiles." The lies about Asin don't end at virtual reality. "It's been ages since I have had non-vegetarian food. For all practical purposes I'm a vegetarian. But I read this horrible report about how I love all kinds of exotic meats. I haven't been approached by PETA. But that doesn't mean I've to go the other way."

"To impregnate a girl by mistake, I had to look innocent" - Ruslaan Mumtaz

Ruslaan Mumtaz After MP3 - Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar, Ruslaan Mumtaz is once again seen on the big screen in Satish Kaushik directed Teree Sang. In the film which opened last Friday, this 24 year old young man plays the role of a 17 year old boyfriend of a 15 year old girl (Sheena Shahabadi) who gets pregnant from him. The film comes with a message around teen pregnancy and has one of its major promotional pegs being sex education. In this exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Ruslaan Mumtaz talks about the entire makeover that he had to go through for Teree Sang and how it wasn't an easy task for him to bag the lead role in the film. Ruslaan, in real life you come with quite an impressive physique. So what did you do to look so different in Teree Sang? I had to actually go through a complete makeover as far as my looks, physique and wardrobe were concerned. For Teree Sang, I had to lose a lot of weight. Since Sheena (Shahabadi) is practically a kid, I had to look innocent too. More so because I was playing the role of a 17 year old boy who could impregnate a girl by mistake. It was imperative that audiences are led to believe that this guy is someone who can commit a mistake. So he had to be simple and quite naive, something that can be projected only if the look and presentation is correct. He couldn't have been shown as a cool dude because then his character wouldn't have been believable at all. I had to actually go through a complete makeover as far as my looks, physique and wardrobe were concerned. Please carry on... This boy is so sweet and simple that the girl keeps bullying him but he still never minds. She calls him a duffer but he only smiles. He is someone who is just not pretentious at all. He comes from a poor family and when he visits Sheena's house for the first time, his eyes pop out by witnessing just the sheer magnitude of the mansion where she lives. He is very vocal about his emotions as well but when it comes to the moment of decision making (when he accidentally gets the girl pregnant), he doesn't shy away from his responsibilities. He could have said that it's the girl who actually pushed him into the act but he never does that. He supports her whole heartedly. Ruslaan Mumtaz There have been interesting stories floating around how you were selected for the role. I have heard that Satish Kaushik was not really keen to cast you even though you were quite persistent. What you have heard is half correct and half incorrect (laughs). It isn't as if Satish Kaushik wasn't keen to cast me. He actually wanted me for the role since he was quite impressed with my screen test. However, he wanted a new boy for the role and I had already signed Robby Grewal's MP3 - Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar. He asked me if I could leave MP3 but that wasn't possible for me. 6 months passed by and he still hadn't found his boy (laughs). So I approached him again and told him that he would never find a better boy than me to play this role. He again said no to me but surprisingly whenever there were any auditions for different girls who were being looked for the role, he would call me. Finally, I got to know that someone else was taken for the hero's role. I told Satishji and told him that he would never find a better boy than me to play this role That must have been heartbreaking... You bet! Here I was coming week after week hoping that he would finally be convinced and there he went on to take some other boy. Thankfully there were so many other people who had seen the auditions. People from his own family and Bharat Shah (who is producing the movie) - everyone was sure that I was the guy for the role. As was destined, they didn't take either the boy or the girl whom they had selected first. Ultimately Sheena and I were signed on. What happened to that boy who was finalized before you? That guy is now an aspiring director actually. He was a very sweet guy and I completely believe that he was also very apt for the role. In fact he was just himself when he walked in for the audition and that was the very reason why he was selected in the first place. I observed him quite carefully since for me, he was the reference point for the boy I had to play on screen. I had to just wear the kind of loose clothes that he was wearing, get an appearance like him and adapt his mannerisms. You must be pining a lot of hopes on Teree Sang? See, box office is important but then it is at the end of the day quite secondary. As long as I can have DVDs of 10 of my films ready and I can show them to people who matter, it is great. That should be my goal as of now. I am a newcomer and not really in a position to decide where I would be in a few years from now. Ultimately Teree Sang is a Satish Kaushik film and that by itself should be good enough to pull in audiences.

"I got on board with Life Partner while Rock On was still under production" - Prachi Desai

Prachi Desai is someone, who, besides being an epitome of talent, is also a fragrant bouquet of talent, hard work, sincerity and dedication ...all of which comes gift-wrapped with a smile that cannot just launch a zillion ships, but also has the ability to change the directions of humongous whirlpools! After having become a household name with the smash hit TV serial 'Kasamh Se', Prachi Desai went onto rock the Bollywood film industry with her smashing debut in Rock On. She is back with her second venture called Life Partner, in which she is paired opposite Tusshar Kapoor. Bollywood Hungama caught up with this ever-so-chirping girl for an exclusive interview. Here are the excerpts: Prachi, to start with, how has life been post, Rock On? Different! It was great when Rock On had released. Everything around me was simply enormous. I just couldn't have asked for a better launch. But now, it feels that I am starting all over again. I am so used to doing TV; that getting adjusted to the medium of films is slightly taking its time. But as I said that the feeling of 'being there, doing that' is simply great! Getting adjusted to the medium of films is slightly taking its time The promos of Life Partner say that 'Gravity cannot be held responsible for people falling in love'. How much do you agree or disagree with this statement in real life? I totally agree with the said statement. It's always said that 'Love is blind'. But I would like to rechristen it saying 'Love is blind...but marriage is an eye-opener' (laughs). Nobody ever says 'Rise in love'. It's always 'Fall in love'. It's only after you have been in love, that you gradually realize 'God! I have to be myself all over again!' That's why the promos have it stating even though everybody falls in love, but 'Gravity cannot be held responsible fore people falling in love'! (Laughs) If it's not gravity, then, what is it? Even I wonder as to what exactly that is! Whatever it is, I am sure that it's not dependent on the person's age. All that I can say is that everybody should fall in love to realize how wonderful the feeling of love is! Everybody should fall in love to realize how wonderful the feeling of love is! You just said that 'Everybody should fall in love'. So, with whom is Prachi Desai in love with? It's very sad but true, that I am not seeing anybody right now! I am just 20 years old yaar! It will take me some more time to find the right person. But, I do confess that I have had my share of crushes.... It's very sad but true that I am not seeing anybody How much of Life Partner's Prachi Jadeja is the real-life Prachi Desai? Prachi Jadeja is a very contemporary girl having a very modern outlook. She is one girl who will stand up for herself and speak her mind. She is well educated and handles her father's business. And as far as the similarities between me and her goes, I think that 'working aspect' applies to me in real life too, as I too am a working girl. Plus like my character Prachi Jadeja, I too am a Gujarati in real life. So much for similarities. Now, what is it that separates Prachi Jadeja from Prachi Desai? Unlike Prachi Jadeja, I will not get into an arranged marriage. While Prachi Jadeja comes from a royal family, I come from a simple middle class family. And while I am in the process of getting my graduation done, Prachi Jadeja is a highly qualified girl from one of the best universities! Prachi, it's a coincidence of sorts that Genelia's and yours last release (Jaane Tu... and Rock On respectively) were monstrous hits, which only means that people's expectations from Life Partner must be soaring all-time high. Does that make you nervous? I am feeling very jittery. This time round, the excitement is little more than before. Believe me; I was nervous while shooting for the entire film. As you said, the expectations are bound to soar with Life Partner. While Genelia and I come with a background of super hits, Tusshar also comes with Golmaal Returns while Fardeen has No Entry behind him. In that case, all of us have a humongous hit film behind us. Having said that, I just hope that people go to the theatres with a clear mind and enjoy the film for what it is, rather than hoping for something magical coming out of each one of us. Life Partner is a group effort and not just of any one individual's! I just hope that it does extremely well at the Box-Office. Life Partner is a group effort and not of any one individual's Life Partner comes from the stable of Rumi Jaffrey, whose last film God Tussi Great Ho was a B.O. disaster. Weren't you apprehensive about signing his Life Partner? And how was it working with Rumi? I know for a fact that it's the second film that decides any actor's destiny at the B.O. And with me choosing Life Partner to be my second film, I better be sure of my role in this. The fact remains that I got on board with Life Partner while Rock On was still under production! It was pretty early then. But since Life Partner is Abbas-Mustan's first production venture, and also it was my chance to do comedy, as I was doing serious roles all this while, I thought of breaking out by doping this role. Even though we haven't seen God Tussi..., we were confident of Rumiji, whose earlier ventures as a writer like Chalte Chalte, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi reflects his immense talent, which will be yet again seen in Life Partner. It's the second film that decides any actor's destiny at the Box Office Since Life Partner happens to be Abbas-Mustan's first stint as producers, how were they? Frankly speaking, till then, I had only heard people saying that they are the sweetest men. But after I worked with them and spoke to them, I really found out as to why people term them as the sweetest human beings. I would like to call them as the 'Men in white', as they are pretty peaceful. Despite the fact that they are directors themselves, they just did not interfere in the film's proceedings. There was some news doing the rounds that you were a bit uncomfortable doing some intimate scenes. How much of it is true? Not really. Ever since this 'news' came in, I too have been wondering as to where did that come from. I would rather say that I felt embarrassed that I made my co-stars a little uncomfortable. Even though there were no intimate scenes in the film, I would say that every newcomer goes through this awkward phase, even at the slightest of an intimate scene. And maybe, it is this 'awkwardness' that the media has blown out of proportion! It is this 'awkwardness' that the media has blown out of proportion Life Partner saw you working with Tusshar, Fardeen, Genelia and Govinda. What was your equation with them? Since the film was made in a light hearted mode, the overall atmosphere was fun. To simply watch Govindaji perform his character was so much fun. Fardeen comes across and is royal and a pure gentleman, while Tusshar is an extremely hard working guy. Govindaji is hilarious while Genelia is 'Aditi', as that's how I can describe her, as Jaane Tu's memories are still fresh in my mind about Genie (Genelia). All in all, working with the whole gang was absolute fun. Now that you are full-fledged into films, have you bid the final goodbye to TV? Right now, I am not looking at going back to TV. Right now, I am not looking at going back to TV What if someone offers you a path-breaking role like that of Rani in Black or say Kareena in Jab We Met, will you still turn it down? That would be a tough decision to make. But one thing is certain that, I will say yes or no to the TV offer depending upon what I am doing at that time. If I am free from all my film commitments and the role turns out to be as interesting as you said, then, you never know... Now that you have worked on both the mediums (TV and films), what do you find as the major difference between the two? Undoubtedly, it's the working pattern. While a film is planned, shoot, edit et al months in advance, all that it takes is a single Friday to decide if the film will sustain at the B.O. or not. Not just that, the Friday also happens to be a day that decides the fate of the actor from that movie till his/ her next film. Whereas TV is totally different, whereby we shoot everyday, all the while fighting for the telecast and the TRPs. We do get a chance to improvise on our skill sets and we can also gauge if the serial is catering to the audiences' taste or not. Every time, there's a film that has 2 heroines, there are always talks about the two heroines not getting along. But there was hardly any news about any friction between you and Genelia? Touch wood! I am so glad that there are just two weeks for the release; such a story about any 'friction' hasn't come out. If ever any such story comes out, I will be so annoyed, because, I am sure that it will be only for publicity. I am sure that any stories of friction between me and Genelia will be only for publicity How does it feel when someone compares you with the two deadly Khans, viz. SRK and Aamir? Because, like SRK, you have proved that TV actors can be successful in Bollywood as well, while you have become as choosy as Aamir while signing films? (Takes a long pause). I am at a staggering loss of words. I feel that it won't be justified to kind of put me in that position right now. It's also heartening to see Rajeev Khandelwal, who, besides SRK, is successful in making a mark in Bollywood. At the same time, I am happy that I am one of the initial actresses to have made it in Bollywood. And as far as me being compared to the great Aamir, I don't think it's fair at all, as I am not planning to do it that way. As a matter of fact, Life Partner was supposed to get released much earlier! I am at a staggering loss of words Lastly, how do you deal with criticism? One really has to cut off at a certain point as it really makes you lose your head, if you allow all this to enter your system. Sometimes, one has to take things with a pinch of salt. Else, that person will go really mad!
