She came, she conquered and then...she vanished in thin air! We are indeed talking about the sexy southern siren Rambha, who conquered the cine-goers hearts with her cool as cucumber acting prowess in films like Judwaa, Gharwali Baharwali and Bandhan to name a few.
Well, the good news for all the Rambha fans is that this damsel is back in Bollywood with a vengeance, with a film called Quick Gun Murugan, whose mere title is curiosity enough to garner eyeballs by a ton. For starters, Quick Gun Murugan is a film about a superhero with the grit of Clint Eastwood and the glam of our own South Indian superstars.
Rambha's look in the film has been designed essentially to enhance her character called 'Mango Dolly', who happens to be a blonde sultry seductress. But the real fact is that she is not what she appears to be. Instead, she is someone who, in reality is a gangster's moll, with her looks styled on the lines of a modern day Barbie Doll.
You really have to hold onto your horses till August 28, 2009, as that's the day when you will get to hear Quick Gun Murugan say 'Mind It' to his enemies, needless to say, with Mango 'Rambha' Dolly by his side!Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 11 Aug 2009 | 6:29 am Asin upset with her imposters on Orkut, Facebook or Twitter
"Hey there... Asin is using Twitter," declares the latest social networking website, and then goes on to give us gems like "I want to act in a Tamil movie" from the actress.
There's just one problem. Asin is not on Twitter... or any of the social networking websites. And she can't laugh off the impersonations any longer.
Asin has a very serious problem. She has impersonators on all the major social-networking sites. "I was ready to overlook these fake IDs using my name as long as they weren't harmful. But now the problem is getting out of hand."
The other night a colleague had a whole long conversation with 'Asin' and called up the next day to share her excitement about what an intimate conversation they had.
"I nearly fell off my chair. I won't name this actress. But she said we shared our most intimate secrets on Facebook. I nearly fell off my chair and asked her whom did she share her secrets with because it was most certainly not me. Two days ago, a journalist came to interview me and said she got all the information on me from what I had written on Twitter. For the record, I'm not on any of the social-networking websites. Apart from my own website, I am not on the internet for any other purpose. I started blogging even before Aamir did in August 2005,"Asin declares proudly.
Asin is aghast. "I was clubbed with Chetan Bhagat and Shashi Tharoor and put on a social networking website. But I'm not on Orkut, Facebook or Twitter. Apparently, there are lots of fake profiles."
The lies about Asin don't end at virtual reality. "It's been ages since I have had non-vegetarian food. For all practical purposes I'm a vegetarian. But I read this horrible report about how I love all kinds of exotic meats. I haven't been approached by PETA. But that doesn't mean I've to go the other way."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 11 Aug 2009 | 6:28 am Vanessa freaked out with Beastly co-star

After MP3 - Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar, Ruslaan Mumtaz is once again seen on the big screen in Satish Kaushik directed Teree Sang. In the film which opened last Friday, this 24 year old young man plays the role of a 17 year old boyfriend of a 15 year old girl (Sheena Shahabadi) who gets pregnant from him. The film comes with a message around teen pregnancy and has one of its major promotional pegs being sex education. In this exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Ruslaan Mumtaz talks about the entire makeover that he had to go through for Teree Sang and how it wasn't an easy task for him to bag the lead role in the film.
Ruslaan, in real life you come with quite an impressive physique. So what did you do to look so different in Teree Sang?
I had to actually go through a complete makeover as far as my looks, physique and wardrobe were concerned. For Teree Sang, I had to lose a lot of weight. Since Sheena (Shahabadi) is practically a kid, I had to look innocent too. More so because I was playing the role of a 17 year old boy who could impregnate a girl by mistake. It was imperative that audiences are led to believe that this guy is someone who can commit a mistake. So he had to be simple and quite naive, something that can be projected only if the look and presentation is correct. He couldn't have been shown as a cool dude because then his character wouldn't have been believable at
all.
There have been interesting stories floating around how you were selected for the role. I have heard that Satish Kaushik was not really keen to cast you even though you were quite persistent.
What you have heard is half correct and half incorrect (laughs). It isn't as if Satish Kaushik wasn't keen to cast me. He actually wanted me for the role since he was quite impressed with my screen test. However, he wanted a new boy for the role and I had already signed Robby Grewal's MP3 - Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar. He asked me if I could leave MP3 but that wasn't possible for me. 6 months passed by and he still hadn't found his boy (laughs). So I approached him again and told him that he would never find a better boy than me to play this role. He again said no to me but surprisingly whenever there were any auditions for different girls who were being looked for the role, he would call me. Finally, I got to know that someone else was taken for the hero's role.

Prachi Desai is someone, who, besides being an epitome of talent, is also a fragrant bouquet of talent, hard work, sincerity and dedication ...all of which comes gift-wrapped with a smile that cannot just launch a zillion ships, but also has the ability to change the directions of humongous whirlpools!
After having become a household name with the smash hit TV serial 'Kasamh Se', Prachi Desai went onto rock the Bollywood film industry with her smashing debut in Rock On. She is back with her second venture called Life Partner, in which she is paired opposite Tusshar Kapoor.
Bollywood Hungama caught up with this ever-so-chirping girl for an exclusive interview. Here are the excerpts:
Prachi, to start with, how has life been post, Rock On?
Different! It was great when Rock On had released. Everything around me was simply enormous. I just couldn't have asked for a better launch. But now, it feels that I am starting all over again. I am so used to doing TV; that getting adjusted to the medium of films is slightly taking its time. But as I said that the feeling of 'being there, doing that' is simply great!
Now that you have worked on both the mediums (TV and films), what do you find as the major difference between the two?
Undoubtedly, it's the working pattern. While a film is planned, shoot, edit et al months in advance, all that it takes is a single Friday to decide if the film will sustain at the B.O. or not. Not just that, the Friday also happens to be a day that decides the fate of the actor from that movie till his/ her next film.
Whereas TV is totally different, whereby we shoot everyday, all the while fighting for the telecast and the TRPs. We do get a chance to improvise on our skill sets and we can also gauge if the serial is catering to the audiences' taste or not.
Every time, there's a film that has 2 heroines, there are always talks about the two heroines not getting along. But there was hardly any news about any friction between you and Genelia?
Touch wood! I am so glad that there are just two weeks for the release; such a story about any 'friction' hasn't come out. If ever any such story comes out, I will be so annoyed, because, I am sure that it will be only for publicity.

A lot is being said about the Shahid Kapur - Vishal Bhardwaj tiff. Reportedly, the two talented names had a difference of opinion, which resulted in a verbal duel when the actor watched the first cut of the film some time back. Shahid laughs when I ask him about it. "These rumours amuse me. The fact is, I am very, very proud of KAMINEY. As for Vishal, I genuinely feel that every actor should at least work once with Vishal in his/her lifetime. He explores that side of you as an actor, which even you aren't aware of," Shahid tells me.
Shahid feels KAMINEY is a landmark film in his career. "I play a dual role in this film and the best part is, the twins hate each other. This is so unlike the twins we've seen so far on the Hindi screen. That's one of the prime reasons why I agreed to do this project. The main reason was, of course, Vishal Bhardwaj," Shahid emphasises.
The topics range from his father Pankaj Kapur's project as well as multiple releases this year. In fact, Shahid will have as many as five releases in the nest few months, starting with KAMINEY and followed by DIL BOLE HADIPPA, Ken Ghosh's as-yet-untitled film, MILENGE MILENGE and hopefully, also PAATHSHAALA, which has been picked up by Eros.
"Ideally, I wouldn't like two promos [of two different films] on screen simultaneously, but these things aren't in my control. Last year, I had just one release [KISMAT KONNECTION] and this year, well, so many," Shahid admits.
Shahid is currently shooting for Parmeet Sethi's directorial debut [being produced by Yash Raj] and the new look -- he's lost weight, even changed his hairstyle -- is for this film. Once this film is through, Shahid would begin shooting for his dad's film. "It's a love story," he reveals. Pankaj Kapur has tilted more towards meaningful/middle of the road cinema as an actor, so will his directorial venture also tilt towards meaningful cinema? "No, it would be targeted at popular tastes, but will have the sensibilities that he's known for as an actor," Shahid states.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 11 Aug 2009 | 1:08 am Eye-catching first impression
First impression counts. No wonder, film-makers ensure that the first promo of their film creates the maximum impact. The promo of BLUE does exactly that. The promo of this keenly-anticipated fare makes a stunning impact, not just because it stars some of the biggest names in the business [Sanju, Akshay, Katrina, Lara, Zayed], but also because of its backdrop. It's shot underwater, amidst sharks.
The film has an international feel and its makers, Shree Ashtavinayak, should capitalise on its theme and take it beyond the Indian diaspora, when they plan its release strategy.
On the other hand, the first promo of MAIN AUR MRS. KHANNA brings back memories of Hrishikesh Mukherjee movies. Soft and simplistic, the promo exudes a lot of freshness. Of course, the first promo features Salman, Kareena and Sohail only [not Preity], but the glimpses make it pretty evident that the film looks at a pati, his patni and a woh. MAIN AUR MRS. KHANNA has been extensively shot in Melbourne, Australia.
Incidentally, both BLUE and MAIN AUR MRS. KHANNA are directed by first-time directors - Anthony D'Souza and Prem Soni, respectively.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 11 Aug 2009 | 1:02 am All eyes on Diwali week
The race for Diwali week has begun. As things stand today, as many as four films are confirmed for 16th October: BLUE, ALADIN, ALL THE BEST and MAIN AUR MRS. KHANNA. However, there are whispers that at least two films will back out of this race, since four biggies in one week is unimaginable in today's times.
But the film-makers associated with these films are unperturbed by rumours of postponement. Eros is gearing up for the release of ALADIN. While the first promo of the film has already been launched, this writer had also witnessed a few minutes footage from the film at EyeQube Studios and which, we must admit, is at par with international works. "We're definitely arriving in Diwali," Sunil Lulla of Eros has confirmed time and again.
The first promo of BLUE and MAIN AUR MRS. KHANNA will be launched this Friday. The promo of BLUE will be included in the prints of LIFE PARTNER, while the first promo of MAIN AUR MRS. KHANNA will be incorporated in the prints of KAMINEY. In fact, the promos of both BLUE and MAIN AUR MRS. KHANNA have also announced the date in the promos.
Prem Soni, the debutante director of MAIN AUR MRS. KHANNA, denies that his film might be shifted ahead. "No way! In fact, we've already blocked the promotion dates of our actors [Salman, Kareena, Preity, Sohail] prior to the release of the film. We've decided to have an aggressive 20-day campaign involving these actors, before October 16," Prem confirms.
Meanwhile, Kumar Mangat is in no mood to postpone his film ALL THE BEST either. "We're readying the promotion and also working round the clock to arrive on 16th October. As far as we are concerned, we're definitely arriving on that date," he states. He is someone who spells Royal with a capital R. No prizes for guessing as to who we are referring to. He's none other than Saif Ali Khan, who made a grand entry in Bollywood with Aashiq Awara. Having the illustrious Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi for father and the eternally gorgeous Sharmila Tagore for mother, this man has been on a 'role' ever since the word 'go'.
A sample list of his films which gave other actors a marathon run for their money includes the likes of Yeh Dillagi, Main Khiladi Tu Anari , Kal Ho Na Ho, Parineeta, Salaam Namaste, Race, etc. If you thought that Saif has confined himself only to romantic and mushy films, then think again, for he is the same man who very effortlessly hit the jackpot with new age films like Dil Chahta Hai and Being Cyrus. The latest on this man is that, besides being a successful actor, he also successfully launched himself as a producer with the latest blockbuster Love Aaj Kal.
Here's your chance to get up, close and personal with Saif Ali Khan, the man whose mere name is enough today to guarantee unprecedented crowds at the ticket windows! Friends close to Emraan Hashmi insist he will fight out the issue to its bitter end, no matter how isolated he may be in his battle to prove that sections of supposedly progressive metropolitan Mumbai practice religious segregation.
Says a source very close to Emraan, "He moves around with a lot of security. It's a precautionary measure. Emraan has filed a complaint with the minority commission. It will come to its decision today, the 10th August. Until they do, he's in danger. Emraan is not really troubled. His house IS looking like a fortress. The police complaint doesn't deter Emraan at all. It's an age-old ploy to silence you. No one can accuse Emraan of inciting communal disharmony. Religious discrimination in buying and renting property has been going on for a very long time. No one talked about it openly. It's a sensitive issue." Now the people who denied Emraan property are tripping over changing their statements repeatedly. "They said he was kept out because Emraan was serial kisser. For some reason they also made up an absurd allegation that Emraan's parents barged into the office of the property dealers. Emraan's parents had taken a proper appointment and gone and they were treated badly. They were told the housing society people were busy. Emraan was enraged because his parents were badly treated. He had earlier bought an apartment in 2007 in Pali Hill. But there was no such problem. This was his first real encounter with discrimination."
Now the people whom the actor was trying to buy property from have buckled under. Says Emraan's friend, "The prospective property seller now says he doesn't want to sell. But for Emraan it is no longer about personal hurt. He's standing up for an issue. People have accused him of doing this to gain publicity. Let them say what they like. He has no releases in the next few months. Emraan doesn't care what the cynics say."
About the lack of support from within the industry, Emraan's friend says, "He wasn't expecting any real support. Javed and Shabana have spoken on it. Also, Saif, Emraan didn't raise his voice hoping to get support. Emraan is prepared to take the issue to its logical issue. He hopes people will no longer keep quiet about being denied property in spite of being law-abiding citizens and paying taxes."
For Emraan the issue has become much larger than a personal one. Says Emraan, "The problem of being denied property on grounds of religion is prevalent all over the country. Now so many Muslims have come forward claiming the same. And mind you, I know religious profiling works both ways. I know of Muslim colonies where Hindus are not allowed to stay. I spoke out as a segregated citizen, not a Muslim. I want all discrimination in property allotment to go. Otherwise why do we call ourselves a democracy?"
Emraan hopes more voice to be raised against discrimination. He's shooting for Ekta Kapoor's Once Upon A Time In Mumbai. The imminent swine flu scare in Pune and Mumbai has taken toll on plans for India's largest animation festival, Anifest India. Scheduled for the Independence Day weekend, the 4-day festival has now been postponed until further notice.
Anifest India had received 1500+ confirmed registrations and a large number of people were to travel from out of Mumbai for this festival.
The organizers, The Animation Society of India (TASI) Managing Committee said in a statement, âDue to the increased risk of swine flu, the TASI has taken the difficult but important decision to postpone Anifest India 2009. It is a very disappointing thing for us but we have no choice under the current circumstances.â
TASI, a non-profit volunteer organization and the organizers of Anifest India, had made elaborate provisions for a power packed event. âFor the past four months we have been working overtime to organize this annual festival. The pre-selection jury was working over 17 hours on Sunday to select films for screening and voting at the festival.â
"Under the present circumstances, as a responsible organization we have taken a decision to avoid gathering such a large crowd in close proximity to each other for four days under one roof. We know that this will mean substantial financial losses to the Society and for everyone who have been a part of it, since a large part of the organizational expenses and time have already been incurred. These are inconsequential compared to public health and safety," the statement further said.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 10 Aug 2009 | 5:05 am You'll see a different me in Kurbaan: KareenaShe has played a prostitute, a bubbly girl-next-door and the ultimate glamour queen in her almost decade-long career, but Kareena Kapoor says Kurbaan has given her the opportunity to sink her teeth into one of the best roles in her career.Source: Hindustan Times News Feeds 'Cinema' | 10 Aug 2009 | 4:57 am Arjun Rampal on GQ cover this month

The latest Swine flu epidemic has developed an eerie feeling amongst everyone. An entire last schedule shoot of Dharma Production's Qurbaan was cancelled as the shooting was to take place in Pune- the largely affected city with the epidemic.
A source from the unit reveals, "The cast and crew were to travel to Pune on Friday afternoon. Everyone was all set and prepared to leave for the last schedule. But lead actress Kareena Kapoor was adamant on not going to Pune after the break out of Swine Flu in the city where they were headed to shoot. Very little portions had to be shot and the crew really wanted to get done with it as soon as possible and Bebo was required for the scene."
The source continues, "Bebo had a word with the director Rensil D'Silva and asked him to reconsider the shoot. The team members gave it a thought and cancelled the scheduled."
Kareena's spokesperson confirmed, "Yes, the Pune schedule was cancelled."
Adds director Rensil D'Silva, "We considered the situation in Pune carefully and decided not to shoot there since we did not want to put either the cast or crew at risk."
The team still has to shoot the remaining scenes, but hasn't decided the venue and is also waiting to again acquire dates of the actors.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 10 Aug 2009 | 4:09 am You'll see a different me in 'Kurbaan': KareenaShe has played a prostitute, a bubbly girl-next-door and the ultimate glamour queen in her almost decade-long career, but Kareena Kapoor says "Kurbaan" has given her the opportunity to sink her teeth into one of the best roles in her career.Source: Entertainment News | 10 Aug 2009 | 3:41 am Priyanka is great..as an actress: Shahid KapurAre they or aren't they a couple?
