Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 25 Jul 2009 | 3:12 pm T-Series acquires the music rights of 3 Idiots
With each passing year music label T-Series is only growing from strength to strength. Take a look at this year (2009) and most of the big Bollywood films such as Chandni Chowk To China, Dev D, Billu, Delhi 6, 8 x 10 Tasveer, Luck, Jashnn and Kaminey have their audio released on T-Series.
Now T-Series has gone ahead and bagged the music rights of one of the most anticipated films of the year- 3 Idiots. The film, produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, stars heavyweights such as Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R.Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Boman Irani in lead roles.
Music of 3 Idiots has been composed by Shantanu Moitra while lyrics have been penned by Swanand Kirkire.
While one will have to wait and watch how the music of 3 Idiots fares when it hits the market, it can't be denied that this is indeed yet another major film whose music rights has been acquired by T-Series.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 25 Jul 2009 | 3:01 pm Review: House Full
Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 25 Jul 2009 | 1:51 pm Priyadarshan's three musketeers return in De Dana Dan
The team of director Priyadarshan and actors Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty and Paresh Rawal gave us one of the cult comedies of all time- Hera Pheri which released way back in 2000. Even though Akki, Sunil and Paresh did star together in quite a few films after that such as Awara Paagal Deewana, Phir Hera Pheri and Deewane Huye Paagal, none of the films could recreate the magic of Hera Pheri as director Priyadarshan was not in the helm of things.
Now Priyan is back with his 3 musketeers (Akshay, Sunil and Paresh) in Venus Films' De Dana Dan which promises to be even funnier than Hera Pheri. Giving the 3 actors company would be Katrina Kaif, Sameera Reddy and Neha Dhupia.
If the expressions and get-ups of Akshay, Sunil and Paresh in this pic is anything to go by, we won't be surprised if Priyan gives us yet another hilarious comedy with De Dana Dan. The film is expected to release towards the end of this year.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 25 Jul 2009 | 1:43 pm Live Chat: Soham Shah on July 27 at 1600 hrs IST

Source: Entertainment - Google News | 25 Jul 2009 | 9:24 am Subhash K Jha speaks about Luck
Let's get one thing straight. This is a film about subverted heroes. People who need big money so desperately they are willing to participate in a crazy game of life and death orchestrated by a man who has turned betting on human beings into a galloping global industry.
Sanjay Dutt strides across the wide screen and its accompanying pomp and paraphernalia with leonine aplomb. He's accompanied by a cast that knows this film means macho business. And the ladies can just wait for the next installment of Ballika Vadhu at home.
However the real heroes of this tale of perverse heroism are the action (Allan Amin) dialogues (Soham Shah),locations(ranging from the super-rugged to the ultra-chic) , the thundering ricocheting background score(Amar Mohile) and the cinematography(Santosh Thundiyil). All these technical components enrich the experience of watching an extended video-game done at an adrenaline -defying speed .
So is Luck just a series of action sequences threaded together in an apology of a plot? To a large extent the skills that have gone into Soham Shah's storytelling tend to be eclipsed by the sheer volume and impact of the virile action. Even the female characters (Shruti Haasan and Chitrashi) are creatures devoted to moolah , nachismo and macabre homages to karma and destiny (or luck if you will).
So, play the game. Soham Shah, displaying a penchant for the pyrotechnics that hit you in your face with the full-blown impact of James Bond on a particularly bad-air day, revs up the proceedings from the word go. Every principal character (barring debutante Shruti Haasan) is given a back story done with an economy of narration that impresses with its austere suppleness.
Particularly riveting is Imran Khan's introductory episode where in a Harshad Mehta-like scam, the boy's life and finances come undone because of his father's economic misadventures. Here, the character's desperation of monetary redemption comes alive as much through Imran's clenched jaws and anguished eyes as the small details that go into constructing an ambience of desperate destiny.
Then there's Mithun, filled with smothered anguish at the thought of a dying wife (Roopa Ganguly, wasted) and the lakhs needed to keep her alive.
Most interesting of all is Ravi Kishan. As a psycho on death row who cheats death he gets some of the juiciest lines in this well-written jigsaw on fallen lives and scamsters posing as angels. Kishan makes the best of the situation and comes up with a performance that pervades the screen with a wolf -like wackiness.
Also a treat is that pint- sized talent Chitrashi who as the zestful stowaway from Pakistan comes up with a 'camel' ka performance. See the film to know what I mean. Her sequence from the hospital bed after mechanical sharks bite of her limb is the sort of foolproof emotional intervention in the rugged plot that cannot go wrong. It doesn't.
You love Soham Shah for making such telling use of Mithun Chakbraorty and Danny Denzongpa's immense rabble-rousing personalities.
Why didn't other directors think of casting these actors in such tailor made roles? Like the cinema of Sanjay Gupta, Soham Shah's film shows materialism to be the motivating mantra of modern times.
Money makes the world of Luck go around unapologetically.
Some of the pauses dividing the 5-6 principal action scenes don't quite succeed in giving the goings-on a sense of rhythm and grace. But you can't really fault Luck for its ration of kinetic momentum. The narration is propelled forward by a pulsating integrity to the genre of action movies.
Original in concept and engaging in execution Luck is cinema at its macho peak. It pumps up the octane to an optimum level and lets the plot devise its own pauses and porous outlets.
You don't come away liking too many characters in this tale of guns and deaths.
But you don't dislike these people for their monstrous materialism either. That's the real success of Luck.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 25 Jul 2009 | 9:06 am "I'm quite an animal in Luck, and I mean that literally" - Ravi Kishan
Ravi Kishan who has come in for lavish praise for his portrayal of the serial killer in Soham Shah's Luck, says Luck and Mani Ratnam's upcoming film Raavan have taken out the Bhojpuri-actor tag from his career.
Not that he is giving up Bhojpuri films. "But I'm finally getting the kind of roles in Hindi cinema that I've waited for," Ravi said before heading to Kerala for the last schedule of Ratnam's film.
"It's the climax of Raavan and I love climaxes. We're all looking forward to it. Abhishek who plays my younger brother has really become like my brother. I play this guy who can kill for my bhai.'
For his role in Luck and Raavan, Ravi lost 15 kgs. "Bhojpuri films require their men and women to look healthier than normal. I had to lose all those kilos for my return to Hindi films. But the effort has paid off."
When Ravi Kishan got to know that Kamal Haasan had watched his daughter's debut film Luck he was petrified. In the film Ravi's character is shown to be pushing his unwanted attentions on Shruti Haasan constantly. Says Ravi, "I'm quite an animal in Luck. And I mean that literally. I've taken cues for my character's behaviour from jungle animals. I behave like a creature from the wilderness. On top of that, I'm supposed to be violently in love with Shruti. I'm a complete psycho."
Ravi was scared of how Shruti's father would react. "Lekin jaan mein jaan ayee when he praised me for my performance. Coming from one of the legends of our industry it was a relief. I feel I've graduated from regional to national cinema."
Ravi however will continue to do Bhojpuri films. "I'll be doing five Bhojpuri films per year. Out of these two will be my home production."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 25 Jul 2009 | 8:54 am 'Perfect Mismatch' loses plot along the wayFilm: 'Perfect Mismatch'; Cast: Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Anubhav Anand, Nandana Sen; Director: Ajmal Zaheer Ahmad; Rating: *1/2Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 25 Jul 2009 | 8:31 am Amar Singh discharged from Singapore hospital: Big BSamajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh has been discharged from the hospital in Singapore, where he was admitted for a kidney transplant, says his close friend, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 25 Jul 2009 | 8:30 am Actors turning producers - more stars join inSaif Ali Khan will be the latest to "own the work" he does by joining the bandwagon of actors turning producers with the release of "Love Aaj Kal" on July 31 - a trend that is once again catching on among heroes of the Hindi film industry.Source: Entertainment News | 25 Jul 2009 | 8:09 am MJ honoured at Save the World AwardsWashington (ANI): Late King of Pop Michael Jackson was honoured with a posthumous prize at the Save the World Awards in Austria on Friday evening, in recognition of his humanitarian efforts. Source: Entertainment - Google News | 24 Jul 2009 | 5:22 pm Akshay Kumar suggested the title Life Partner to Rumi Jaffery
Lot of news print and rumors have been doing the rounds on why Akshay Kumar didn't do Abbas Mastan's Life Partner but we have an inside story that no one has heard.
Akshay Kumar was supposed to play the character of a divorce lawyer who does not believe in the institution called marriage. The part eventually was essayed by Govinda in Life Partner. Though Akshay Kumar couldn't do the film because of date problems as he was shooting for 8 X 10 Tasveer, interestingly, while he was going through the script narration with producers Abbas Mastan and director Rumi Jaffery, he asked what they had thought for the title. When Abbas Mastan and Rumi said that they were still hunting for one Akki came up with a suggestion.
Akshay Kumar asked for a repeat narration of the climax and then just suggested that the title of the film should be Life Partner. Life Partner is a story of two couples and their journey through their relationships, where one takes the route of love marriage and the other arrange marriage.
Says a source, "All these rumours of rift between Rumi and Akshay are false. Akshay couldn't do the film because of date problems and Rumi is absolutely okay with it. Both parted ways amicably."
Confirms Rumi Jaffery, the director of the film, "It is really funny... Abbas bhai, Mastan bhai and I were struggling for a title. It was almost the case of having it under our nose and not being able to seeing it. When we were in conversation with Akshay Kumar for the film, he suggested Life Partner as a title and it just stuck. I couldn't believe it. It was as simple as that. And we all just loved it and couldn't have thought of a better title."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 24 Jul 2009 | 4:56 pm Sivan unaware of 'Tahaan' honour in GermanyAt Germany's only annual festival celebrating Bollywood cinema in Stuttgart the highest honour went to Santosh Sivan's Hindi film "Tahaan", but the cinematographer-filmmaker was unaware of it.Source: Entertainment News | 24 Jul 2009 | 4:55 pm Akshay suggested the title 'Life Partner': Rumy JaffreyDirector Rumi Jaffrey denies that Akshay Kumar opted out of 'Life Partner' due to a 'rift' between them and says it was the star who suggested the film's title.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 24 Jul 2009 | 4:00 pm Ganguly's 'Dadagiri' on small screenFormer Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly is all set for another inning - this time on the small screen - as he gets set to anchor a quiz-cum-reality show in Bengali.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 24 Jul 2009 | 4:00 pm 'Colonial Cousins' make music for Tamil film, meet fansComposer-singer duo Hariharan and Leslie Lewis, popularly known as 'Colonial Cousins', have composed music for Tamil film 'Modhi Vilayadyu', and they interacted with music and cinema buffs at a mall here to promote their new venture.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 24 Jul 2009 | 3:32 pm Akshay's Aarav and Sajid's Subhaan bond in London
And so the friendship continues. First it was Akshay Kumar and producer Sajid Nadiadwala who are the closest of friends and collaborators over several movies.
Now it's Akshay's son Aarav and Sajid's boy Subhaan who are not only in the same class of the same school, they are also inseparable best friends. And so when Subhaan flew to London with his mother to join his father, Aarav didn't waste time in informing his dad that he and his mom Twinkle are on the way to London.
While the fathers are slogging on the sets and the two mothers are out to shop till their husbands' bank-balances drop, the two kids have made a list of all the fun things to do in London and are out on their own. Chuckles Akshay, "Aarav is basically a shy boy. But you should see him with Subhaan. They don't need parental guidance. We need guidance on how to control them."
The two 7-year old boys are whooping it up in the fun spots of London while the two sets of parents are doing their own thing.
Interestingly, Aarav and Subhaan's fathers too went to the same school. "But we never had so much fun," protests Akshay. Ever since the release of Paap (2004), majority of films starring Udita Goswami have been highly dramatic affairs. However, the actress is now attempting a different genre with her latest film titled Rokk. The film belongs to supernatural genre, the shooting of which is all set to begin this August.
"Rokk will be extremely different from anything that I have done so far. It was important that I work on diverse genres. After giving myself a break to ponder over what I really wanted to do, I decided to work on Rokk", says Udita who was seen earlier this year in box office dud Kisse Pyaar Karoon that released several years after lying in the cans.
Rokk is about two sisters with Tanushree Dutta playing Udita's sister. As per Udita, the film has no heroes and the narrative is primarily character driven.
When an actress is launched in a Bhatt movie opposite none other than John Abraham, she is expected to become a hot property. Udita Goswami too had a good beginning with Pooja Bhatt directed Paap. However, ever since then she has only been seen in Zeher, Aksar, Aggar and Kisse Pyaar Karoon. Any other actress in her place would have gone on a signing spree, so why did she choose to lie low?
"Well, I had a certain thought process around signing only those films which had me in a central role. However, this didn't quite work because how many women-centric films are actually made today? Guess, I had to have a change in mindset and thankfully now I have revisited my priorities. Yes, I have become flexible in my choice of roles but am still particular about the banners I sign and people I work with", reasons Udita.
Is this the reason why she suddenly finds herself as a part of two Sunny Deol projects? "Yes, I am working in Fox and The Man, both of which are action films with Sunny Deol in the lead. Both films gave me a chance to do something that I haven't done before", reveals Udita.
Other than these two films, she would also be seen in Chase and Hello India where she would be seen opposite none other than Akshay Kumar. "My time is coming, you see", smiles Udita, "Just imagine, from one film in a year, I am rolling as many as five. It's good to be occupied and doing some nice work."
In the meanwhile, she is all excited to begin work on Rokk which is produced by Ikkon Films and Sumeet Saigal. "The film is directed by this new guy called Rajesh Ranshinge", says Udita, "He is someone who is new to films but has been making some good supernatural thrillers for years on television. He has seen it and done all in TV serials like 'Sssh Koi Hai', 'Aahat' and 'CID'. He is a great guy; someone who is very clear and focused."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 24 Jul 2009 | 10:30 am
