Source: Entertainment - Google News | 18 Jul 2009 | 1:45 pm Genelia's acting dumb, and she hates it
So far Genelia D'Souza has played girls who have got their acts together and their heads screwed firmly to their shoulders. But that's about to change.
In her next film Life Partner Genelia is cast as a super-dumb broad. And the actress is cringing.
''This chick thinks she knows it all when she's clueless. She doesn't know how dumb she is. She's got loads of money and time and she keeps trying different vocations. For starters she attempts a career in singing and she's a disaster at it.''
Playing this scatter-brain was very tough for Genelia. ''I'm not the least like this rich pampered clueless chick. And I'd certainly not try my hand at anything I wouldn't
succeed in. But this character keeps bumbling from one experience to another. She's a nightmare.''
To add to Genelia's woes, her character in Life Partner is hated by one of her favourite actors. ''Govinda whom I adore detests me in the film. Every time we're together heâs snarling and scowling at me. I hated that.''
Though there are other lead parts in Life Partner Genelia says she is not worried. ''I'm the female protagonist in the ensemble cast.''

Rejoice! The Bhatts are back with a film that rips a hole in the heart, and lodges itself deep into your consciousness ...for a bit at least.
It's hard to move away from the territory of trauma that Bhatt perennially creates for his characters. His protagonists suffer because they allow themselves the luxury of feeling and hurting in an utterly self-centered way.
In a marked departure from the sacrificial mother-figures of our movies the film's central character Nisha (played with gut-wrenching brutal self honesty by Shahana Goswami) is shown to be a rich man's mistress not because of her kid brother but because, as she roars in one of the narrative's soul-piercing highest-pitched sequences, she has gotten so used to luxuries she canât queue for buses any more.
Jashnn, like Mahesh Bhatt's Jannat before it wallows in the transparent hunger of today's lifestyle and how far individuals are able to go in pursuit of the next thrill.
At its heart Jashnn is a simple story about four troubled people tied together in a baffling labyrinth of complicated emotions.
As Adhyayan Suman, rising to the challenge of playing the author-backed role of Aakash Didi's ladla and destiny's unfavoured wannabe Michael Jackson, says to his spunky girlfriend (a never-say-why chick who moves in with her guy in his garage music room), ''Your brother was supporting my sister. Now you're supporting me. What a family we are!''
Bhatt's people are never afraid of facing the truth about themselves, no matter how ugly. And it can't get any uglier than the sequence where Akaash, angry embittered cornered and moneyless steals from a woman's purse in a bar to pay for his drinks.
There's a redemptive counterpoint to this hideous moment of compromise. There always is. And when it comes, Jashnn you feel like applauding our young hero's proclivity to look life in all its garish shades straight in the eye.
In what could be considered the best re-launch since Mallika Sherawat in the Bhatts' Murder, Adhyayan Suman gets a role with a graph and grip that most newcomers fantasize about in their most orgasmic dreams. Adhyayan surrenders himself completely to the bum-musician's inner world, emerging with emotions that lie buried too deep for tears fears and jeers. He cries openly and feelingly for his lost and redeemed dignity, he makes love to his girlfriend with the same tender look in his eyes as when he cuts a cake with his sister. He grits his teeth when his sister is insulted for her parasitical life as a rich man's mistress. He rejoices when she's liberated. He's a Mahesh Bhatt hero.
Shahana Goswami the truest new-millennium inheritor Shabana Azmi's histrionic kingdom goes through the role of squalid dependency and emotional liberation with a velocity of expressions that expand the screen space into a universe of articulated angst. Of course the dialogues help. Shahana's sequence where she tells a cheesy guy
she wants to be something better than meat in the market is proof enough of her capabilities.
It's interesting to see Anjana Sukhani turn a routine role of the spoilt but eventually sobered-down heiress into an area of interesting possibilities. The girl is spirited and plays her part with a determined relish.
The film's other protagonist Humayun Saeed hams his way through most of the material. He isn't to be blamed all the time. Some of his sequences lack the insightful intensity of what the writers offer the other principal characters. And to see this villain weeping in repentance at the end kind of takes away from the sting and bite of the tangy dish on contemporary compulsions that the Bhatts have prepared for posterity .Mention must be made of the actor who plays Aakash's best friend Sukesh. The boy gets the point.
It isn't as though Jashnn has something new to say. If you've been observing the cinema of Mahesh Bhatt youâd know they secrete dark recesses of resonant emotions serving more as mirrors for the mores of our times rather than just vehicles to get audiences into titillated submission.
The women in Mahesh Bhatt creations are extraordinarily striking creatures. And there are two such women in Jashnn. One is a tortured mistress of the night. The other is a wealthy woman who lives-in with her struggler boyfriend and refuses to abort her illegitimate baby.
A scar is borne. The womb is a wonderfully warm place to tell screen stories about people who maneuver out of materialistic morass in redemptive rhythms. Co-director Raksha Mistry and Hasnain Hyderabadwala have here created a parable of pain written across the theme of a musician's journey from rejection to victory.
But the music of Jashnn goes far beyond what we hear playing so stylishly and sensitively on the soundrack.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 18 Jul 2009 | 9:17 am I'm very lucky for Govinda: David DhawanThey have given a series of hits together like "Aankhen", "Raja Babu" and "Partner" and they have teamed up yet again to entertain audiences with "Do Knot Disturb".Source: Entertainment News | 18 Jul 2009 | 9:08 am Controversies don't affect Adhyayan Suman any moreWhether it was his much-publicised affair and break-up with actress Kangana Ranaut or alleged linkups with co-actresses Shahana Goswami and Anjana Sukhani, budding actor Adhyayan Suman says he has become thick-skinned now and controversies don't affect him any more.Source: Entertainment News | 18 Jul 2009 | 9:04 am What was Shahid addicted to as a child? The one thing that Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor couldn't resist as a child was playing video games - he was so addicted that he used to spend all his pocket money on them.Source: Entertainment News | 18 Jul 2009 | 9:02 am 'Jashnn' a celebration of strong acting, good filmmakingFilm: 'Jashnn'; Cast: Adhyayan Suman, Shahana Goswami, Anjana Sukhani, Humayun Saeed; Director: Raksha Mistry and Hasnain S. Even though she has 'PR' as her initial two letters in her name, she is one chic who just does not need any PR to be in the news. On the other hand, it's the term 'PR' that feels honoured and gratified to be a part of her name. We are indeed talking about the one and only gorgeously astonishing girl whom the world knows as 'Priyanka Chopra'. We would rather call her the 'Birthday Girl' as she celebrates her grand birthday today.
Hailing from a middle class family, Priyanka is a perfect example of ethics, morals, values and principles. Not just that, she is also an epitome of three vital ingredients that's required to be extraordinarily successful, viz., hard work, dedication and sincerity. All that it took for Priyanka is a win at the Miss India competition which eventually escalated her to an emphatic win at the Miss World pageant, followed by a galore of never-ending list of modeling assignments! After all of this, was her ultimate step towards superstardom which came in a golden platter called 'Bollywood'. A sample list of films that can be termed 'instrumental' for her to be today's Numero Uno', include the likes of Andaaz, Krrish, Don - The Chase Begins, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Aitraaz, Fashion, Dostana... to name a few.

After setting many youngsters' heartbeats racing, Bollywood's latest poster boy Imran Khan is back once again to do that with his action filled movie Luck. It's no rocket science that he is superlatively popular amongst girls. Bollywood Hungama got the man for an exclusive interaction with his fans only a few days back. But those who were not 'Lucky' enough to catch Imran on the live chat, we bring you the excerpts.
Imran Khan: hi guys - I am here for my new film LUCK
Sonam: Hey Imran, I discovered this very cute nick name for you, immu. How sweet is that APPLE PIE!! So here are the few things which I wanted to share with you .I have watched all your films and noticed that you get very nervous on the sets I guess when you deliver your dialogues, you end up delivering them very fast and the second thing as you say your dialogue you tend to raise your eyebrows a lot every word you say which I consider a distraction for audiences. You sure got the good looks infact you look like Robert pattison but coming to the point I think you should relax and imagine whatever character you are playing kabir, jai etc as its you and how would you react in whatever situation.
Imran Khan: thanks for the feedback sonam... honestly, I hate it when people call me immu, I prefer just Imran.
Anu: What is your role in Luck???
Imran Khan: Anu, I play a normal guy caught up in the world of human betting.
Sonam: three women who you would date besides Avantika?
Imran Khan: sonam, it's hard for me to think of dating someone else. Weâve been together for six and a half years
Prasad: Hello Imran sir...Your latest film LUCK is looking simply EPIC...So how was the experience of working with Soham Shah?
Imran Khan: Prasad, i really liked working with Soham. He's a young director, so our sensibilities really matched.
