Though Vivek Oberoi has been in news for his 'comeback film' with Ram Gopal Varma, Rakta Charitra, there is another film of his that would be arrive first later this year. After oscillating between Prince of Thieves and simply Prince, the film's title has now been fixed as Prince It's Showtime. There is a relevance to the 'show-time' part, something that director Kookie Gulati reveals as he speaks about the title change.
"Actually, it's not a change in title per se because there was no title fixed in the first place. Prince of Thieves was just a working title and we were always contemplating getting something different as we come closer to the release", says the debutant film maker who has directed quite a few popular music videos in the past.
He confirms though that Prince It's Showtime is the final title of the film.
"Yeah, Prince It's Showtime is final and soon you would see the title being more prominent as we officially break the campaign", Kookie comments, "The phrase 'It's Showtime' is quite relevant to the film as well since this is the line that Prince (Vivek Oberoi) uses throughout the film. It fits in perfectly well with the character and this is why we thought of adding it to the film's title as well in order to set expectations with the audiences."
''Working on Prince It's Showtime has been a fantastic experience'', exclaims Vivek Oberoi, ''It's a story that could be every man's fantasy and every man's nightmare. It is a thrilling and fascinating tale full of twists.'
Also starring Sanjay Kapoor in the role of a cop along with Rajesh Khattar and Dalip Tahil, PRINCE has music by Sachin Gupta with action by Allan Amin
Produced by Kumar Taurani's Tips Music Films, Prince It's Showtime is an action thriller that sees Vivek Oberoi in a new avtar. From his long haired look in his last release Mission Istanbul, Vivek has moved on to a neat, close cropped look for Prince It's Showtime. The film has been extensively shot in South Africa, Bangkok and of course
various locations in India.
With Nandana Sen along with debutant British actress Aruna Shields as the leading ladies, Prince It's Showtime is said to be revolving around the search for a rare gold coin. Apparently, Vivek has performed some dare devilry stunts in the film, one of which required him to be jumping off a plane.
"The film boasts of some great thrills, great action and great fun! I guess that should be enough for me to comment as of now as its scheduled for release on 11th December 2009'', smiles Vivek who also has Qurbaan (earlier titled Jehaad) with Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor coming soon.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 27 Jun 2009 | 3:39 pm Jackson feared dying young like Presley: Ex wife

Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 27 Jun 2009 | 1:28 pm Farhan, Abhishek to adapt Chetan Bhagat's The 3 Mistakes Of My Life onscreen
Well-known author Chetan Bhagat surely seems to have found his foothold in Bollywood. First his book 'One Night @ The Call Centre' was adapted into the motion picture Hello starring Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, Sharman Joshi etc and then Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani decided to make his '5 Point Someone' into 3 Idiots with Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Sharman Joshi and Madhavan in lead roles.
Now the latest is that Chetan's most recent novel 'The 3 Mistakes Of My Life' will also be adapted into a motion picture and this time the makers are none other than Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment. The film will be directed by Abhishek Kapoor who earlier directed the super-hit Rock On for Excel.
Bollywood Hungama spoke to Chetan to get some more information on how the deal happened. "I was looking for a potential filmmaker to whom I could entrust the job of adapting my third book 'The 3 Mistakes Of My Life' onto celluloid. I happened to meet Farhan a couple of times and spoke to him about working together. He just casually mentioned that even Abhishek Kapoor was looking for a suitable script and that's when things started rolling. Abhishek read the book and really liked the characters. He thought it does have potential to be adapted into a motion picture and that's how things fell into place"
So will Chetan be involved with the screenplay too? "Yes the screenplay is being jointly written by Abhishek, Pubali Chaudhary and I. We are still in the first few drafts. There may be minor changes in the film as compared to the book but primarily it will capture the main spirit of the book"
The film's title and cast is yet to be decided upon. The film is likely to go on floors towards the end of this year or early next year.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 27 Jun 2009 | 12:14 pm Check out Aamir and Kareena on the sets of 3 Idiots
Kareena Kapoor may have a big release round the corner (Kambakkht Ishq) but that hasn't deterred Bollywood's IT girl from finishing off her other pending assignments.
Kareena was busy shooting most of last week with Aamir Khan for Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots. The actors finished a major shooting schedule first in the cold climate of Ladakh and then even shot some vital portions in Delhi. What one can't miss noticing in theses images floating on the internet is Bebo's simple, bespectacled look, a complete opposite from her glamorous avatar in Kambakkht Ishq. She is also seen wearing a simple salwar kameez rather than any western outfit which she is more often seen in.
As for Aamir, the actor seems to be in a light relaxed mood, sporting a light pink tee with blue jeans.
3 Idiots is based on Chetan Bhagat's much acclaimed novel '5 Point Someone' and also stars Sharman Joshi, R Madhavan, Mona Singh and Boman Irani in lead roles.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 27 Jun 2009 | 10:53 am "Arshad has surpassed his previous best role of Circuit" - Anil Kapoor
Given his fame, Anil Kapoor has an unusually sensible attitude. "How are you and what have you been up to?" is what he asks me. "So tell me, are you shuffling between London and Mumbai?" is the next question. I'm sure it was meant to be the other way. Plus, it was an overseas call made from Mumbai to L.A. Nevertheless, he sounds super cool and a dapper dude on the other side. If anyone should know when a party's over, it's Anil Kapoor. In his prime he was a major movie star and pin-up. Today he grows stronger than ever before and the reason is just one lucky film he signed, Slumdog Millionaire. For many people, mostly journalists, the return of Anil Kapoor was simply a convenient excuse to rehash his amazing story. But the difference between then and now is that Anil really is back and reconnected with his passion called films, not just as an actor, but as a committed producer too. His first film Gandhi My Father gathered rave reviews from the world wide Press. Kapoor is someone who tends to get involved. Not getting involved is never an option. The commitment that now fuels his activism has long underpinned his acting and, of late, his producing. He has left behind the jhakas image that lingered for years and is now back in business with some serious production work. UK's Harrow Observer columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent gets an exclusive ten minutes with the ubercool Kapoor and finds out that he is having the time of his life now because everything that he did before was just a prologue.
After producing a serious film like Gandhi My Father, why back a film like Short Kut which is an out and out comic caper? Is it for commercial reasons?
I'm sure every film is made for a commercial reason. As an actor, I've performed in one of Indian cinema's biggest hits like Mashaal, Karma, Eeshwar, Beta, Lamhe, Kishan Kanhaiya, 1942 A Love Story and Rakhwala. All the films I've mentioned were different from each other. Some were commercial successes and the others were critically acclaimed and some did decent business. So as a producer too I want to be diverse. Short Kut came across to me as a fun film, it had great actors, there was scope for music, comedy, emotions, etc. In fact, there was scope in every department. As a child, I'd love to go and watch a film like this. So why not produce something that is loved by one and all.
Neeraj Vora is known for his wacky sense of humour. Does he surpass himself in Short Kut?
I love Neeraj Vora's sense of humour. He is an extremely talented individual with a diverse caliber in writing and direction. He is India's rare talent who needs to be taken seriously, and that is not funny.
What about Arshad Warsi?
Both Arshad and Akshaye are going to surprise and shock you in Short Kut. He is known all over the world as Circuit. You put them into a serious situation and they will come out making you laugh. Arshad is also a good actor who needs to be taken seriously by our industry. I can surely say this that Arshad has surpassed his previous best role of Circuit.
Are you going to be in India during the release of your film Short Kut?
Currently I am in the United States of America. I will be there in India the day after Short Kut is released, that is the 11th of July. Then again I fly to South Africa on the 12th July to shoot for Anees Bazmee directed film No Problem which is my third Hindi film as a producer.
Any other Hollywood projects you are looking to be a part of now that you are based almost half of the year in the West?
Right now my focus is Short Kut. But yes, I am looking into few Hollywood films and television serials. Bollywood was always big down West but we have changed their perception of the cliché which they had for years and years; that our industry is just about 'song and dance'.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 27 Jun 2009 | 10:42 am Cameron Diaz all excited to work with Tom CruiseCameron Diaz, who starred along side Tom Cruise in Vanilla Sky, has said that she is "really excited to work" with him once again in the new action film Wichita. After reading the script, which Cruise had already accepted, she said: "Well,Source: Oneindia.in - Entertainment | 27 Jun 2009 | 10:09 am Lisa Marie Presley:Jackson feared dying like ElvisThe legendary icon Michael Jackson has passed away and his death is still clouded in mystery. First his father and now fellow-musician Michael Jackson is gone in less than a week. This hasn't been a good time for Adnan Sami. "I was working on an album with Janet and Michael Jackson. I'm producing and composing the album. But now I wonder what happens to it!" wonders Adnan.
Describing Michael whom Adnan met a number of times for the album as a childlike genius, Adnan says, "His life was troubled. But his music was his solace. Artistes who suffer always seek an escape route in their art. Ask me, I should know"
When Adnan first received a phone call from Michael and the Jackson brothers they discussed Adnan's music in detail. "The Jacksons knew every detail about my songs. They had studied my music in detail. I listened quietly to them talk about my music. These were the same guys whose music I grew up on."
How did it happen? "Michael's brother Jermaine's wife Halima is from Afghanistan. For some time she lived in Chandigarh. She got acquainted with my music while in India and she took my music to LA and introduced her husband to it. And then Jermaine introduced Michael and Janet to my music."
Adnan had three meetings with the Jacksons in Los Angeles. "It was progressing slowly. They like to work at their own pace. No hurry. The album is like Motown-music-meets-world-music-meets-Indian-music. I've brought the Sarangi and the Tabla-Dholak into their music."
It's Adnan's first English-language album, and being produced by the Jacksons. Adnan is also singing one song in the album.
Speaking of the Jacksons Adnan says, "They're very humble people. Always attentive to what I say, always open to innovations and suggestions. They recognized a component in my musical style, and that is this. I really like strong base lines in my songs. What they don't know is, that's something I learnt from the music of the Jacksons."
This is the first full-fledged collaboration between an Asian musician and major American musical icons. "I can't believe I'm actually working with the Jacksons. Without Michael it won't be the same. We've completed four songs...I'm really enjoying this. I realize I enjoy playback singing. But the independent albums are where I'm totally able to express myself."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 27 Jun 2009 | 9:43 am
