Producer Vashu Bhagnani's war with his director Vivek Sharma just got murkier. One of Vivek Sharma's demands on his producer is to let Shah Rukh Khan share
the publicity hoardings with debutant Jackky Bhagnani.
But Vashu protests, "Vivek had worked with Shah Rukh in Bhootnath. He came and told me he wanted to bring Shah Rukh into a cameo in Kal Kisne Dekha and now
he wants it publicized. How can I single out Shah Rukh for prominence when there're other big stars making guest appearances in Kal Kisna Dekha? My motive is to make a movie for and promote my son. The big stars
like Shah Rukh are in the film to bless Jackky. I don't want people to be conned into believing Shah Rukh has a big role. I don't come from a place where
stars are exploited by producers in brief roles, sorry. Look at Rishi Kapoor. He returned a part of the payment when he knew I was facing a financial crunch.
I'm obliged to this man. Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor...they are human beings. We all are going through recession and this is the time we need to come
together to save the industry, not try to gain cheap publicity by hurling accusations."
Disgusted and shocked by Vivek's behaviour, Vashu says, "I heard that he had a problem with Mehak Chahal in South Africa to the extent that she left my son's
film in disgust. She sent me more than twenty messages describing what he allegedly did. But I didn't pay attention. I am a decent man, so I refused to
believe these stories. But going by Vivek's recent behaviour I'm persuaded to believe Mehak."
The harassed producer, just back from London is shocked and demoralized to hear the director's apparent allegations of payment default and even slapping.
"How can I slap him from London? Vivek's PRO made up the story. I've never slapped anyone. He says he'll expose me. What have I done to him? Have I cheated
or raped him? He says he'll teach me a lesson. What will he do? Slap me? He's a powerful man. He has worked with Amitabh
Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan."
The minute Vashu landed in Mumbai on Tuesday, he called Vivek Sharma's lawyer over and sorted it out. "He has slapped a legal notice on me for nothing. He
was supposed to get the full and final payment on the day of the film's release on June 12. I can show you a copy of the legal agreement. I've now cleared his
dues fully. I've more important things to think about. My entire family has been visiting temples keeping fasts and mannats for my son. I've spent Rs 34
crores over my son's film. Who would give this kind of film to a relatively new director to direct? As a father, I am grateful to Vivek Sharma for taking on
a film with a newcomer after directing Mr. Amitabh Bachchan (in Bhootnath). But, as a producer, I can't take his rude behaviour. He's been going around
telling people, 'Who's Jackky Bhagnani?' Jackky is my son. And he has done a good job. I maintain that Vivek is a good technician. But his ego is larger than
his talent."
Vashu is still incredulous, "Vivek wanted to put a stay order on my son's film for money. For a small sum of money???!!! I've emptied my coffers to make Kal Kisna Dekha. I've only one son.
He has worked hard. From a fat 130 kg kid he became a 70 kg lad! Anyway, I've cleared all of Vivek's dues. And I wish him all the best.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 12 Jun 2009 | 2:02 pm Tamil star Trisha teams up with AkshayDirector Priyadarshan has signed Tamil star Trisha to play the female lead in his forthcoming Hindi film starring Akshay Kumar.Source: Entertainment News | 12 Jun 2009 | 1:49 pm Shabana wins IIFA leadership award

After the premiering of Big Animation's Little Krishna on Viacom's kids channel Nickelodeon, other TV majors are also
eyeing the local Indian animation content. In a latest development, the Turner owned Cartoon Network has now decided to give
more space to localized content.
To start with, Turner Entertainment Networks Asia Inc. (TENA) has tied up with Mumbai based Graphiti Multimedia for animated
short film, Kulveera. A Turner and Graphiti co-production, this short film will premiere on Cartoon Network on 14th
June 2009.
Silas Hickey, Creative Director, Asia Pacific Animation Development, TENA told Bollywood Hungama, "This premiere is a
part of the Turner's Snaptoons initiative. There is more such content which will follow soon."
Munjal Shroff, the COO & Director of Graphiti, said, "We have put in two years of efforts in conceptualizing and executing
Kulveera. It's a 3D short film set in an exciting era and is visually stunning." Shroff refused to divulge anything
further stating that he wants the 'audience to sample the content first'.
Graphiti is a premiere animation studio and has produced shows like J bole toh Jadoo for Nick. The studio is currently
working on a slew of projects with different international partners in the kids entertainment space.
Kulveera will be aired on 14th June 2009 at 9.30am with a repeat telecast at 6pm. Turner's other kids channel, Pogo,
is already airing Chhota Bheem, which is produced by Hyderabad-based Green Gold Animation.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 12 Jun 2009 | 1:08 pm Shabana wins IIFA leadership award, wants to empower womenAcclaimed actress Shabana Azmi, who has been championing varied social causes, won the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Global Leadership Award here today.Source: Entertainment News | 12 Jun 2009 | 1:01 pm I want to be a star: Sonam KapoorBollywood actress Sonam Kapoor, who turned 24 recently, says she always wanted to be a star and not just another actor.Source: Entertainment News | 12 Jun 2009 | 12:22 pm Malawian court approves Madonna's adoption plea - Times of India

Source: Google News India - Entertainment | 12 Jun 2009 | 10:33 am Visual sophistry powers Angels & Demons
Hollywood is at the cutting edge in the art and science of visual effects (vfx), so much so that they can create whole cities from the scratch. For Tom Hanks starrer Angels & Demons, based in the heart of the Christian papacy, the filmmakers had locations that were either impractical or forbidden to shoot in. So what they did instead was relied on vfx to recreate the amazing architecture of Rome and The Vatican City - The Sistine Chapel, the Passetto, Castel Sant'Angelo and Piazza Navona - partials sets of which were built in Los Angeles.
London based MPC (Moving Picture Company) helped creating CG environments including the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican and the high-tech Hadron Particle Collider in CERN, Geneva. The post-production studio completed 170 shots for the film, ranging from full CG environments and vfx sequences to complicated composites including the title sequence, a fully CG papal ring, the birth of Antimatter, CERN sequences, CG environments of Rome and Vatican, The Sistine Chapel, the Passetto, Castel Sant'Angelo and Piazza Navona.
MPC VFX supervisor Richard Stammers, who oversaw the London team, told Bollywood Hungama, "I handled most of the shoot attendance in Rome personally, and was responsible for photographing the stills used for the CG environment builds. In some cases I would send batches back to MPC overnight to be checked by our matchmove dept. so they could confirm any additional angles that may be required for image modelling."

What makes Akshay Kumar so vulnerable and unpredictable sometimes is the fact that no one knows how his mood for the day is going to be. He may come across as a bizarre one answering questions in one line or may come across as a completely funny man talking nonsense and still making sense. You never know with this 'Khiladi' because he loves playing games with the media, fans and even the opposite sex, like in his recent film Kambakkht Ishq. So in order to trace what mood and mode this six feet two inch personality was actually in, UK's Harrow Observer columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent Devansh Patel followed the actor to Mumbai's Sun N Sand Hotel where the suave star was busy giving his broadcast interviews with some sexy ladies, trying to flirt his way to the top in his trademark style. In this short interview, Akki talks about the extrovert Simrita (Kareena's screen name), his long lost co-star Aftab Shivdasani, fun being an incompatible couple, his lean figure, his sometimes violent fans and why he would also do films like 8 X 10 Tasveer besides his comic capers.
What happens when you meet an extrovert like Simrita?
(After nearly two minutes of silence) I'd actually be offended. I'd not like to speak to that person and just walk off. I'd never try to be near her at all.
It looks like Kambakkht Ishq is a complete overseas package in the way it's shot and with Hollywood action heroes adoring the Bollywood space.
I don't know about the overseas package. It sounds very shallow that a film is only made for the overseas population. Yes, it's got Hollywood actors in it and may appeal to the public in the West but it's an Indian film for the world to see. It's a film which I've enjoyed doing because of the script. I'm playing a Hollywood stuntman and all the Hollywood actors are a part of my life in the film. That's the reason they are there in the film and not to package it as an international release.
You've worked with Aftab Shivdasani in Awara Pagal Deewana. How is Affy now after you've last seen him a good, four to five years ago?
Affy can play these kinds of roles very easily like he played in Awara Pagal Deewana. He fits the 'bechara', 'pyaar ka maara' type of roles very well. You feel sorry for his character in the film. He is very true to his character in whichever film he performs. I loved him in Kasoor where he played an obsessed lover along side Lisa Ray. He was superb in the film.
What's the fun in being an incompatible couple?
The fun is what women think about men and what men think about women. We just say it openly about it. We curse each other which is great. We pull our leg, disagree with every word we say and that's fun.
Lean and fit is your fitness statement. You're fit at 40 unlike others who're still pumping iron to stay in shape.
I don't think that's right. I believe in having an athletic body more than a bulkier body. I am too natural when it comes to fitness. I do not pick up weights. Obviously, a body like me does help in terms of an action film and stunts. Most of my stunts are performed by me because of this athletic body. If I had bulging biceps, I could only bash somebody up.
What about your fans? They just don't love you. I'm sure they've got a bit violent sometimes?
Oh yes. Fans in the overseas can get violent sometimes, especially women fans. They pounce on you with their long nails scratching you behind your neck. It's happened to me quite a few times now when I've visited the US or the UK. Of course, I don't argue with Twinkle when I go back home with such scratch marks made by my female fans. I also remember the time when my hands were bleeding when I shook hands with a female fan. She had a blade in between her fingers which you can't see. Such are some fans. Some love to hate me I guess. But realistically, I believe that that's the way some of the fans show love to you.
Which is your favourite Sylvester Stallone film you've seen?
I like his last Rocky film. He was absolutely fantastic in it. I didn't ask him which film he had seen of mine because I was too ashamed of asking that question as I suspected the answer to be 'No'.
Did you guys hang around after the shoot was over? Denise, you, Kareena, Sylvester, Brandon?
No, we didn't hang around together. In Hollywood, you just work. But yes, we did chat a lot. Denise was more interested in knowing about India. I also mentioned to her that India is a Bollywood crazy country but I told her that people will go to the theatres to watch Kambakkht Ishq more than the English films she has been a part of.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 12 Jun 2009 | 7:19 am Telugu film 'Kick' revives Shaam's careerHis lover boy image in Tamil and Kannada films did not take him anywhere. Deepika Padukone is four films old but too young when it comes to working with her male co-stars. All the actors, with whom she has worked with, except Ranbir Kapoor, are almost fifteen years older to her, which takes us back to our first meeting with Miss Padukone in London during her red carpet arrival for the premiere of Om Shanti Om. She was wearing a sexy red dress and painted the Leicester Square red. Back to aaj, she has matured in love and how. We see her in a lovey-dovey pink to promote her upcoming film Love Aaj Kal in front of a packed Indian media. A suburban girl who shot to fame as a supermodel and then to super stardom as SRK's lover in Om Shanti Om, Deepika has now moved up the ladder in Bollywood playing lover girl in all her films. Love Aaj Kal being the fourth. Life's just kind of perfect at the moment. For someone whose name and visage have been used to sell everything from lingerie, to jewellery to chewing gums, Deepika doesn't seem at all preoccupied with her image. Padukone seems totally comfortable with all her many roles. In some moments, she sounds like a typical plate-spinning working mom, concerned about getting healthy meals on the table for her kids, till you realize that she is still single. A woman who gives a firm 'no-no' to live in relationships is more than willing to settle down and look after her husband once she gets married. Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent and UK's Harrow Observer columnist meets the immortal figure who believes in having three guidelines when it comes to love: Be happy with what you have, keep things simple and go with the flow.
Four films old
"The journey has been wonderful. Everyone's way of acting, everyone's style of acting, everyone's approach, etc. has been wonderful. Two out of my four co-stars are also producers. Saif was very kind and polite. Somewhere the nawab in him came out because of his London education. He is a royal man and deserves everything royal."
Luck factor
"I hope I bring the same luck to Saif Ali Khan as I did to Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om. Love Aaj Kal will go down as one of the most special films for me, irrespective of what the outcome is and what people are going to think."
Compliment from Saif
"It's a huge compliment from Saif if he has compared me to Rani Mukherjee. Something like this is an honour coming from Saif. In fact, I have learnt a lot from him. The fact that he is so experienced and his style is so natural makes you want to work with him again. I really look up to that kind of a performance. I've been a big fan of his right from Dil Chahta Hai."
Co-stars
"I don't feel any age difference. In fact I feel secure with my co-stars who are so experienced. It's great for someone like me who is so new and has absolutely no background from this industry. All my co-stars have been giving and supportive and that in turn has a tremendous role in the way I perform on screen."
On Imtiaz Ali
"Imtiaz Ali is a genius. He is so sensitive to people's performances and people in general. As an actor, I think it's nice to have a director who understands my approach to a scene. Saif and I are so different from each other as actors. It's nice to have a director who can bring that together on screen and get that good performance out of us."
Kareena controversy
"Whenever I was on the sets shooting, I didn't see Kareena anywhere near me. I don't know when she has come and when she has gone. She must've come when I had my days off, I hope. I'm sure she understands that it's not possible for a director to work with the same co-star again and again. It's great that you've had a hit film with a certain director. It's absolutely untrue that there is any sort of discomfort between the two of us or any form of negativity. She knows she is brilliant and she has done a great job in Jab We Met. I guess Imtiaz was damn sure of whom he wanted to cast in Love Aaj Kal."
Reel life to real life
"I'm a perfect blend of Love Aaj and Love Kal. I'm practical in real life though. As an actor when you do a film, two things can happen, either the role you're playing is very different from who you are in real life or it is very similar to the person you are off screen. It's spooky how similar Meera's character is to me in Love Aaj Kal. I think 90% of the film and the way I react in certain situations is the way I'd in real life."
Love yesterday and Love today
"I believe that long distance love lasts. I think different people deal with relationships differently. Their definition may be different but at the end of the day, love exists. Different relationships go through different ups and downs. But when you sit together and have a chat about it, everyone will have the same thing to say. Earlier couples used to take hours writing letters and today it can happen in a few seconds by you sending an SMS to your loved one. Times have changed but the love remains the same, the feeling remains the same. Meetings these days are a lot easier. You can still stay connected with your loved one via a web cam on your computer. Earlier you'd have to travel for miles to see each other."
Live in relationship or getting married
