"Kissing scene was necessary for film, so why make such a big fuss?" - Deepika

Click above for more movie stills Deepika Padukone is four films old but too young when it comes to working with her male co-stars. All the actors, with whom she has worked with, except Ranbir Kapoor, are almost fifteen years older to her, which takes us back to our first meeting with Miss Padukone in London during her red carpet arrival for the premiere of Om Shanti Om. She was wearing a sexy red dress and painted the Leicester Square red. Back to aaj, she has matured in love and how. We see her in a lovey-dovey pink to promote her upcoming film Love Aaj Kal in front of a packed Indian media. A suburban girl who shot to fame as a supermodel and then to super stardom as SRK's lover in Om Shanti Om, Deepika has now moved up the ladder in Bollywood playing lover girl in all her films. Love Aaj Kal being the fourth. Life's just kind of perfect at the moment. For someone whose name and visage have been used to sell everything from lingerie, to jewellery to chewing gums, Deepika doesn't seem at all preoccupied with her image. Padukone seems totally comfortable with all her many roles. In some moments, she sounds like a typical plate-spinning working mom, concerned about getting healthy meals on the table for her kids, till you realize that she is still single. A woman who gives a firm 'no-no' to live in relationships is more than willing to settle down and look after her husband once she gets married. Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent and UK's Harrow Observer columnist meets the immortal figure who believes in having three guidelines when it comes to love: Be happy with what you have, keep things simple and go with the flow. Four films old "The journey has been wonderful. Everyone's way of acting, everyone's style of acting, everyone's approach, etc. has been wonderful. Two out of my four co-stars are also producers. Saif was very kind and polite. Somewhere the nawab in him came out because of his London education. He is a royal man and deserves everything royal." Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone Luck factor "I hope I bring the same luck to Saif Ali Khan as I did to Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om. Love Aaj Kal will go down as one of the most special films for me, irrespective of what the outcome is and what people are going to think." Compliment from Saif "It's a huge compliment from Saif if he has compared me to Rani Mukherjee. Something like this is an honour coming from Saif. In fact, I have learnt a lot from him. The fact that he is so experienced and his style is so natural makes you want to work with him again. I really look up to that kind of a performance. I've been a big fan of his right from Dil Chahta Hai." Co-stars "I don't feel any age difference. In fact I feel secure with my co-stars who are so experienced. It's great for someone like me who is so new and has absolutely no background from this industry. All my co-stars have been giving and supportive and that in turn has a tremendous role in the way I perform on screen." On Imtiaz Ali "Imtiaz Ali is a genius. He is so sensitive to people's performances and people in general. As an actor, I think it's nice to have a director who understands my approach to a scene. Saif and I are so different from each other as actors. It's nice to have a director who can bring that together on screen and get that good performance out of us." Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone Kareena controversy "Whenever I was on the sets shooting, I didn't see Kareena anywhere near me. I don't know when she has come and when she has gone. She must've come when I had my days off, I hope. I'm sure she understands that it's not possible for a director to work with the same co-star again and again. It's great that you've had a hit film with a certain director. It's absolutely untrue that there is any sort of discomfort between the two of us or any form of negativity. She knows she is brilliant and she has done a great job in Jab We Met. I guess Imtiaz was damn sure of whom he wanted to cast in Love Aaj Kal." Reel life to real life "I'm a perfect blend of Love Aaj and Love Kal. I'm practical in real life though. As an actor when you do a film, two things can happen, either the role you're playing is very different from who you are in real life or it is very similar to the person you are off screen. It's spooky how similar Meera's character is to me in Love Aaj Kal. I think 90% of the film and the way I react in certain situations is the way I'd in real life." Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan Love yesterday and Love today "I believe that long distance love lasts. I think different people deal with relationships differently. Their definition may be different but at the end of the day, love exists. Different relationships go through different ups and downs. But when you sit together and have a chat about it, everyone will have the same thing to say. Earlier couples used to take hours writing letters and today it can happen in a few seconds by you sending an SMS to your loved one. Times have changed but the love remains the same, the feeling remains the same. Meetings these days are a lot easier. You can still stay connected with your loved one via a web cam on your computer. Earlier you'd have to travel for miles to see each other." Live in relationship or getting married "I am someone who completely believes in falling in love and settling down. I'm not for live in relationships. If I get married, my house and my husband is my number one priority. I tackle my relationship with Ranbir very well. It's not the easiest thing to do but it takes two secure people to deal with things like that. I've been able to do that." Lip lock moment "Sometimes when you decide to do something, like a kissing scene in the film, you just do it because you feel its right. I think the scene was necessary for the film and I believed in it. I do not have to take permission from anyone. I've been able to separate my personal life from my professional life and hope to keep it that way for a long time. It's time to get real. Everyone's aware of these kinds of things on screen. Even the kids know about it. So why make such a big fuss?"

Kal Kissne Dekha has a 30 crore budget?

Download K.K.D. wallpapers Kal Kissne Dekha finally releases tomorrow. Arriving at over 500 screens worldwide, this Jackky Bhagnani launch pad would occupy 460 screens in India and 50 screens overseas (USA, UK, UAE, Singapore, Mauritius & Fiji in the first week and other locations being added in the subsequent weeks). However, the buzz going around the town is that there is a lot in stake for producer Vashu Bhagnani since the film's budget has been pegged at close to Rs. 30 crores. Informs a senior member from the film's production team, "Yes, the film's budget is quite huge. In fact there have hardly been many movies starring newcomers made at this scale. Once Vashu Bhagnani was convinced that Jackky, Vaishali and Vivek (film's director) could deliver goods, he didn't hold back on the money. It was not a decision made by a doting father who wanted to launch his son; it was also a professional in him taking a judicious call." She further goes on to add, "Vashu has been known as a filmmaker who is quite lavish when it comes to pitching his movies. He has been the only filmmaker who managed to get none other than Amitabh Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit together. It's all about his confidence in the product and when he sees that he would get the right returns, he doesn't shy away from spending a fortune." That seems quite true considering the fact that in spite of kick starting promotion of Kal Kissne Dekha way back in the month of March, he didn't hold back even though the untimely strike resulted in crores of extra amount spent by him on the film due to an extended promotional campaign. At that time he had stated that there was no point pulling back just to save money because it made business sense to sustain the film's promotion. No wonder, the film's budget has touched the roof though Vashu continues to be ever-so-optimistic about audience reception to the film. "The film's budget is certainly over 25 crores but I am not overtly alarmed", he says, "The film's theme required good amount of money to be invested in it. Also, since we shot in diverse countries like South Africa, Thailand, New Zealand and of course India, Kal Kissne Dekha has seen extended shooting spells. Moreover, there are also 25 minutes worth of special effects in the film that has cost a fortune as well." With such huge investment in the film, didn't he feel like flooding the market with large number of prints instead of a mid-size release on 500 odd screens? "That doesn't make for a sound decision", he talks business here, "It's better for a newcomer hero and heroine to get some buzz created around them once they are seen for the first time on screen. Once word of mouth spreads and people start asking for more, we would certainly increase prints as well. Didn't that work so successfully for Jab We Met in the past?"

Newsbreak: Govinda-Riteish to perform together at IIFA

Govinda, David Dhawan, Riteish Deshmukh David Dhawan is a very happy man. And it's not only because he's making back-to-back movies, and judging a reality show Hans Baliye during the time of recession. The biggest reason is that the cast members of David's latest directorial offering Do Knot Disturb are going to IIFA. "Now that the strike (of new releases in multiplexes) is over, Govinda and Riteish Deshmukh who are in the film will be performing live at IIFA." David is heading to Macau with his wife where images from Do Knot Disturb will be shown at the IIFA event. David also intends to do a music video featuring the entire cast of Do Knot Disturb. "I want Sushmita, Lara, Sohail, Riteish and Govinda. We want to promote Do Knot Disturb in a big way and release around Eid." With David doing a film for producer Vashu Bhagnani after years, he is naturally very concerned. "It has to go right. I'm very happy with the film. The strike ended at just the right time. There was hardly any shooting going on. Media persons had nothing to write so they were making up stories."

"Bhatt-saab hasn't directed it, yet 'Jashnn' is a Mahesh Bhatt film" - Raksha & Hasnain ...

Click above for more movie stills They made THE KILLER and THE TRAIN and then took a two-year break. Now, Raksha Mistry and Hasnain Hyderabadwala, the director duo, are back with Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt's JASHNN - THE MUSIC WITHIN. "Bhatt-saab once said that to make a successful film, you need to incorporate something that is a part of your own life. So that's what we did. JASHNN is about a nobody, vying to be a somebody, just like us. Also, this one's an original, hence the time gap," Raksha justifies. Unlike their previous two, this film is a complete original. Rumor has it that Mahesh Bhatt has 'directed' portions of the film. "Several scenes from the film are as emotional as his JANAM and SAARANSH, so he needed to be there to guide us. Bhatt-saab hasn't directed JASHNN, but we'd still say that it's a Mahesh Bhatt film," both echo. Why not Emraan Hashmi this time? "We needed someone young to pass off as a 20-year-old and I could see the anguish in Adhyayan after HAAL-E-DIL flopped. In fact, it was Emraan who suggested his name," the duo justify. Not many are aware that Mohit Suri has shot the videos of the film. "At Vishesh Films, we work like a family, the jobs are distributed. In fact, you'd be surprised to know that Mohit hasn't done most of the videos of his films either. Someone else did it for him," they clarify.

"Don 2 is being written by three Don fans and not my father" - Farhan Akhtar

Farhan Akhtar Known to be utterly gregarious and accessible, Farhan has suddenly withdrawn into a shell. Before well-wishers could presume the worst, the truth has come out in the open. His current acting assignment, Kartik Versus Kartik with Deepika Padukone which is almost done provoked these withdrawal symptoms. Since the part requires him to be a lonely brooder, Farhan has lately switched off his phone and become almost inaccessible to the world outside. "It was the nature of the character I was playing. He's a guy lost in his world. So I was making an effort to isolate myself," he says. Friends found Farhan's behaviour strange since usually he is so reachable and gregarious. "Lately I've just been switching off from the world for the sake of my character. If you want to call it method acting, so be it," says Farhan. Farhan won't be cast in Abhishek Kapoor's second film, though it's being produced by Farhan's company. "Gattu has very specific ideas on whom he wants to cast. If he thinks I don't fit any part that's fine. I'm just happy producing his film." Now Farhan prepares to shoot for Don 2. His father Javed Akhtar will not be a part of the sequel to Don. The first part of the film had been written by Javed saab. Don 2 has a different team of writers which includes Farhan. "The first film was my father's vision. He had written the original Don featuring Mr. Bachchan. But Don 2 is being written by fans only. These are yours truly and two new enthusiastic boys Ameet and Amreesh who came to me with their ideas on how the story can be carried forward. I've thrown my ideas at them. Don 2 is basically being written by three Don fans who are having a ball carrying the story forward. About the exclusion of his father Farhan explains, "He cannot be a fan of Don because he conceived it." Farhan's heart is set on his pet project Voice From The Sky which got stalled by casting setbacks. "It's strange. No matter who it is and no matter how big or small the director, everyone of us is facing casting problems. Finding the right actors has become a major problem. Voice From The Sky did get delayed because I couldn't find the right actor. But I know I'll come back to it. And one day when you see it, you'll realize why I had to make this film."
