After shaking and shocking the audiences with his films like Dev D and Black Friday, Anurag Kashyap is now all set to appear on television as a host with 'True Stories', a show that explores the real life inspiration that went behind the making of legendary films like James Bond, Indiana Jones etc. The show will be aired on 'Fox History and Entertainment channel.'
A self confessed Hollywood film buff, Anurag said that the show will have him sharing interesting trivia and information about the thespian directors like Brian De Palma, Clint Eastwood etc. An ecstatic Anurag also said that he was always mesmerized by the stories of the real-life characters which have been a source of inspiration to films' heroes.
As far his acting skills go, Anurag did manage to impress the audiences with his cameo role as the script writer in Luck By Chance. What remains to be seen however, is whether he'll manage to charm the audiences yet again as a TV show host.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 6 Jun 2009 | 3:23 pm Nandana Sen signs up as an ambassador for NGO RAHI
Nandana Sen is doing her bit towards charity. She has now been signed up as the Cause Ambassador for an NGO called RAHI (Recovery and Healing from Incest). She will be in charge of raising awareness of the widespread trauma of child abuse, and working with its survivors.
Talking about her 'role' in this association, she said, ''Healing is often harder for men than it is for women. For males, the biggest obstacle is their reluctance to talk about it. In our society, men have been conditioned to believe by definition that they must always be aggressive rather than helpless. Since a 'real' man is expected to never accept he could be a 'victim,' men fear that acknowledging their trauma would threaten their masculinity.''
She also exhibited her stand on the dreaded issue of 'incest' by stating that the hiding the pain of the victims' abuse often leads to male survivors experiencing great confusion over their sexual identities and orientation. She added that, ''Some survivors become intolerably homophobic and some unhealthily aggressive. Disastrously, masculinity and power often get confused with abusiveness. For both men and women, the first step towards healing is breaking the silence about their abuse."
For starters, she has just wrapped up a UNIFEM-sponsored short film called Chuppee, which deals with the subject of the sensitive topic of child sexual abuse.
Way to go, Nandana.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 6 Jun 2009 | 3:15 pm Strike over, multiplex' in two minds over telecasting T20 matchesA slew of Bollywood biggies are lined up for release with the row between producers and multiplex owners having ended.Source: Entertainment News | 6 Jun 2009 | 2:44 pm Shahid wants Priyanka instead of Genelia in Ken Ghosh's film?
Barely has the dust settled down around Genelia D'Souza replacing Jiah Khan in this light hearted musical entertainer (which was rumoured to be titled Yahoo for last few months), that another chapter has opened up for the film. Apparently, Shahid is upset with director Ken Ghosh's selection of heroine and wanted his 'good friend' Priyanka Chopra to be paired opposite him in the film.
"Wow, it's amazing how imaginative people can get", says Ken, in an amused tone, "Now they are saying that Shahid is upset with me and the whole world because Priyanka is not the heroine opposite him. First there were rumours around the film's title being Yahoo, and then came the entire so-called controversy around Jiah being replaced with Genelia and now Priyanka Chopra. What's going to be next is what I wish to know!"
On the contrary, Ken Ghosh is ecstatic with the way shooting has progressed so for with both Shahid Kapoor and Genelia D'Souza. Says Ken, who has earlier directed Shahid in teen rom-com Ishk Vishk and romantic thriller Fida, "In the times when we are searching for that quintessential romantic 'jodi' in Bollywood, Shahid-Genelia may well fill in the void. They both really complement each other quite well. Fingers crossed."
Even though Ken is mighty excited about the newest romantic 'jodi' to have hit the town, rumor mongers are having a field day. As per them, Shahid has become completely incommunicado on the sets of the film and is sulking away due to Priyanka not being roped in. Moreover, due to this behaviour of Shahid, Genelia is feeling left out on the sets of the film and is quite disappointed about the entire affair.
"Please come over to the sets and be a witness to the kind of fun that we are having during our shoot", Ken sets the record straight, "Sorry to disappoint those who wish ill-will for the film and us but the fact remains that Shahid, Genelia and myself are the awesome threesome. We are having a blast on the sets."
So how has his experience been when it comes to the first time pairing of Shahid and Genelia? "I am very happy that Genelia came on board and Shahid too is equally glad", states Ken, "As I have stated earlier as well, the female character had changed and there was a certain energy I was expecting from my new leading lady. Honestly, I
am getting that all from Genelia since she has caught the nuances of her character so well. Genelia is right up there. Period."
However, with insinuations that Shahid's heart continues to beat for Priyanka both on and off the sets, one looks forward to how this story further shapes up eventually. Even though one thought that the chapter was closed when it came to casting hassles for this Ken Ghosh film, it seems that there would still be some more time before that actually happens.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 6 Jun 2009 | 2:36 pm Deepa Mehta is excited about daughter's 'mixed' weddingThere is a big fat wedding waiting to happen at filmmaker Deepa Mehta's country villa in Canada.Source: Entertainment News | 6 Jun 2009 | 2:13 pm Malayalam film awards sparks controversy

Look what a strike does for you. It makes a sixty day dry spell and then when it calls it off, within four hours of notice; there are hundreds of media personnel present to attend the exclusive press conference of Kambakkht Ishq at Taj Lands End in Bandra. It wasn't the media alone who were given a short notice. Akshay Kumar had to fly down from Karjat in an hour's notice and Kareena had to rush from Mehboob Studios to attend the grand event. "Aap log kaafi bor nahin ho gaye the⦠koi film release nahin ho rahi thi. Kuch masala kisi ko nahi mil raha thaâ¦" said the ever humorous Akshay Kumar by standing up graciously as he attends the media. Kareena Kapoor too joined in and gave a short speech. A glimpse of the film's trailer and a song was screened for the media and a surprise cake cutting ceremony was held to mark the release date of the film - June 10. Then comes the stampede. Journalists, photographers and the camera crew rush to the near by room where the two sexes - Viraj (Akshay) and Simrita (Kareena) are ready to battle it out with some absurd, strange, mad and some decent questions thrown to them. As Akshay Kumar aptly said, "The battle of the plexes are over and the battle of the sexes has begun". Time for some reaction to reactions.
Akshay Kumar:
The strike is over and Kambakkht Ishq has finally found a release date. How happy are you?
I am very happy about it and who wouldn't be happy? I am continuously working and three to four films of mine are already done and dusted. Yes, I was upset and angry that there was not a single film being released since two months. It's like making a product and there is no buyer. I got to know of the strike at 3 am. I have come down all the way from Karjat and going to go back with a big smile on my face.
Who is Viraj Shergill in the film?
You should know this by now as you've even got a press kit but to answer your question, Viraj is a stuntman in Hollywood. I got an opportunity to do stunts with 'Superman' and 'Rambo' (laughs). It's a battle of sexes but the inside news is that the female sex wins.
This is going to be your biggest release as far as the number of prints are concerned. How excited are you?
Well, I don't know about that but I don't know how you know about it.
Apparently, it's going to have an English release too considering that it's got Sylvester Stallone in it.
I actually don't know much about it because they have signed me as an actor and not as an exhibitor and a distributor. But I'll surely find out and let you know about it and if it is something like what you've informed me, then I'm very happy because we'll get an international audience. Sajid was aiming for something like this.
Brief about Sabbir Khan the new director.
I've always enjoyed working with new directors. In fact, I've always given hits with new directors. Be it Sajid Khan, Vipul Shah, Guddu Dhanoa, Naresh Malhotra, etc. I always see a greed in a new director because they are very greedy about work, they want to prove it and they bring new ideas on the table. That's what has inspired me about Sabbir. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
This is the seventh time you're working with Kareena Kapoor. How was the experience?
Well, unke parivaar ka maine thhekaa le rakha hain. I've done fourteen films with Karisma and seven with Kareena. Ab dekhte hain...unke bachhe honge toh unke saath bhi kar lenge.
In terms of fitness, you were pitted against a sixty plus year old man who is physically fit. What did you learn from Sylvester in regards to fitness?
Well, that man had lots and lots of stories to tell. I was very surprised to know some of his stories. We shared a lot of stories in Thailand as he has shot some of the Rambo movies in Thailand and I too come from Thailand. I've stayed there for seven years. The way he works is amazing. Sylvester doesn't just remember his dialogues but he knows all the other dialogues of the people around him. It's a good trait and something which we in Bollywood should learn.
Kareena Kapoor:
This is the seventh time you're working with Akshay and your chemistry with him is working out fine. What say?
I love to work with Akshay Kumar because I've known him since I was in school. I met him first on the sets of Deedar with Karisma. He is one of India's biggest superstars. His struggle along with Karisma's has gone hand in hand. It feels like he is a part of a family.
How physically challenging and tedious can a role be after you've played size zero in Tashan?
Well, Tashan was tiring because I had to maintain a figure which sent the national economy for a toss. It's nice and different in Tashan. Actually, I challenged myself to that film. Whereas in Kambakkht Ishq it's more like the girl needed to be voluptuous and fuller. She needed to be more fashion conscious. I will don and change myself according to whatever role.
You just mentioned that you want to see Akshay Kumar on the top as he is your favourite hero. What about Saif? Don't you want to see him on top too?
Saif is in the top already.
What was the best compliment you received from Sylvester Stallone?
The fact that I got to sit with him, interact with him and learn something from a hero who is like a father figure is more than what you can ask for. For me, that was my compliment.
We heard that Saif didn't like you wearing a bikini in Tashan and a swim suit in Kambakkht Ishq.
People don't wear jeans and go swimming, do they?
Which is your favourite song from the film?
There is a song with my name 'Bebo' in it and that is my favourite.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 6 Jun 2009 | 1:31 pm Megan Fox slams casting couch culture

Ranvijay Singh who's a popular VJ on MTV has bagged a role in Action Replay that was originally played by director Vipul Shah in the stage version of the film 15 years ago.
And Vipul seems to be reliving his own golden moments as an actor through Ranvijay, as the director now abandons his acting cap and passes it over to a VJ who is new to acting.
Says Vipul, ''It's a very strange feeling. I remember I had stepped into the part of the heroine's best friend when no other actor agreed to accept the role. I was a novice in theatre and no one wanted to work with me. Now I've got Ranvijay to do my role and I find myself trying very hard not to recall my own acting stint.''
Apparently, Vipul often finds Ranvijay copying his style of walking and talking. Says the director, ''I've made sure no one watched the play. How could they anyway? It came fifteen years ago. But I've retained the dramatic flavour of the drama.''
Action Replay goes into two time zones, 1975 and the current times. The actors have to make the 30-year time switch without prosthetics.
Says Vipul, ''If I can take my character from the way I played it 15 years ago to the way Ranvijay interprets it, I can also make the characters undergo the transition without external props.''Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 6 Jun 2009 | 1:09 pm Kareena to sport Barbie look in 'Kambakkht Ishq'Kareena Kapoor's look in "Kambakkht Ishq" is being touted as her most glamorous ever, but her make-up artist Mallika Bhat says that apart from looking ultra glam, she will also sport a "Barbie doll-look" in the action thriller.Source: Entertainment News | 6 Jun 2009 | 11:48 am Sensuality in 'Kites' not meant to excite: RakeshActor-turned filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, who openly admits that he would love to work with his superstar son Hrithik in every film of his, says their latest offering "Kites" may have made news for its sensuous scenes, but the sensuality is "not meant to titillate".Source: Entertainment News | 6 Jun 2009 | 11:47 am 'Slumdog Millionaire' kid writes memoirNine-year-old "Slumdog Millionaire" star Rubina Ali is writing her autobiography, expected to be released next month.Source: Entertainment News | 6 Jun 2009 | 11:34 am John-Katrina put screen on fire
Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 6 Jun 2009 | 11:22 am Akshay Kumar to skip IIFA for family holiday
Forget about performing live, Akshay Kumar won't be attending the 10th IIFA awards in Macau next month. June has been kept aside for the family vacation, and nothing in the world can change that.
Says a source close to Akshay, ''The family vacation was planned well in advance to coincide with Akshay's son Aarav's school vacations. Akshay doesn't like leaving Aarav behind when he is out of the country. At the same time he doesn't want his son to miss school. So the annual holiday was planned well I advance. No power on earth, not even IIFA, is going to persuade Akshay to take even a small break from the holiday, let alone break his little boy's heart.''
In fact it was suggested by IIFA organizers that Akshay fly down from wherever he was to Macau for the event. When Akshay refused to perform the organizers suggested he come down with to Macau with his wife and son just to attend.
But Akshay wouldn't relent. Says the source, ''Akshay planned the holiday for his son well in advance. The two sat together and decided which places to visit and what spots of the world would be of most interest to the boy. He rushed through his current assignments to keep June free. Nothing else matters at the moment.''Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 6 Jun 2009 | 10:31 am Hrithik-Barbara rumours baseless

Source: Google News India - Entertainment | 6 Jun 2009 | 9:49 am Will Bollywood's filmmakers shoot in Australia in spite of racial attacks?
Art and politics have always made strange bed fellows. Most artistes live in a world of their own. Isolated from the brutal reality of war, stress and strife, they create images that derive their strength from the isolated imagination rather than the crowded real world. And yet, in recent times the relationship between cinema and politics has become so intertwined that filmmakers find it hard to sustain let alone rationalize their isolation. We saw an upsurge of indignation in the film industry after 26/11. And now with Indian students in Australia being attacked, filmmakers seem to be ready to hit Australia where it hurts the most. Their foreign exchange. If our boys can't be safe in Australia, Bollywood refuses to shoot down under.
Rensil D'Silva: "Shoot in Australia? Not at all."
Kalpana Lajmi: "It is indeed an extremely unfortunate. But I don't hold the entire Australian nation responsible. If my film requires an Australian backdrop, I wouldn't hesitate in shooting there."
Anees Bazmi: "Being a true Indian and a human being, I condemn these acts of violence. My conscience won't permit me to shoot in Australia."
Anubhav Sinha: "I feel racism is a very personal prerogative today. It is not a governmental policy. It has its nuisance value. While traveling abroad, I do encounter racial bias every now and then. I shot in Australia some years back and faced some smirking hurdles. I never returned."
Sajid Nadiadwala: "No. I won't shoot in Australia. And why only Australia? I won't have any relations with any country that disrespects Indians."
Ken Ghosh: "Nope. I definitely won't shoot in Australia. These attacks are very surprising. I always found the people to be very friendly."
Subhash Ghai: "Certainly not until Australia gives full respect and protection to Indian students."
Sujoy Ghosh: "Yup. I'd shoot. And maybe carry a couple of hockey sticks to beat the crap out of those racist a**holes""
Siddharth Anand: "My entire film Salaam Namaste and Tara Rum Pum were shot in Australia. I strongly condemn what's happening there. As of now, I'd still like to believe Australia is a very friendly nation. The people there have been very warm and hospitable during both my films shot in their country. But something drastic has to be done to stop these attacks. Until then, I'd definitely be in two minds about shooting in Australia."
Sanjay Gupta: "I completely condemn the attacks. Australia is not my kind of place to shoot anyway."
Pritish Nandy: "Yes, I'd shoot in Australia, just as I would shoot in Goa, despite the murder of Scarlett Keeling and other foreign tourists. We shoot in locations that suit the script. We can't take patriotism to such absurd lengths."
Satish Kaushik: "Shoot In Australia? Not at all. Why should we celebrate the beauty of a country when the hearts of certain people in that country is not beautiful? They should learn from us. Atithi Devo Bhava."
Kabir Khan: "It's very important to make a distinction between prejudices practiced by a government and racist attacks by some disgruntled lunatics. However, to show our disapproval of the attacks it'd better not to shoot in Australia at the moment."
Ravi Chopra: "No, definitely not. If our kids are not welcome, I don't want to be any part of Australia."
Rohit Jugraj: "Hate crimes are deplorable and disgusting. And considering the fact that Australia itself is a land risen out of strife and animosity, the Australians should've taught their kids to be tolerant and welcoming. I don't want to shoot in Australia, unless it's a film about these hate crimes. Maybe our own take on Baz Luhrmann's Australia called 'Oust-ralia'. They need to learn a thing or two about love and dignity."
Suneel Darshan: "I'd love to shoot in Australia. Has strife kept us out of Kashmir? These disturbances are detrimental to both cultural and business relations."
Sanjay Gadhvi: "If I've to shoot in Australia, I'd strongly recommend to my producer not to do so considering the current scenario."
Jagmohan Mundhra: "Even though I think that most Australians are not racists, the frequency of attacks on Indian students is a matter of concern. As a mark of protest, I won't shoot in Australia until the government takes a firm stand against racial violence and sets an example by giving severe punishments to the perpetrators of these attacks."
Ananth Mahadevan: "These attacks have no doubt hurt all sections of society. There're bound to be repercussions on cricket, tourism and higher education. If I've to shoot in Australia, I'd have to think twice."
Tarun Mansukhani: "No. Considering the inaction by the Australian government against racial abuse, I wouldn't shoot in Australia. I don't think that we should consider any joint venture with Australia until we get the same protection provided to their citizens. Indian students in Australia are a source of revenue for the Australian government. In exchange the least we expect them to do is safeguard our lives."
Antony D'Souza: "You can't castigate a whole nation for the actions of a few."
Sajid Khan: "I feel an entire nation can't be tarred because of a handful of extremists. We'll only make these elements stronger by being scared. At the same time, we want to see Australia take action against these hate attacks. Until then, I won't shoot in Australia to show my solidarity with Indians who are attacked anywhere in the world."
Soham Shah: "Anything that goes against the dignity of our countrymen is a collective insult to all Indians. We must not shoot in a country where we are discriminated against."
Vipul Shah: "Shoot in Australia? Not at all. I'm shocked by their hatred. That their so-called progressive culture can be so bigoted is unbelievable. Australia must know we are united in fighting those who attack one of us. We'll make them change their attitude."
Zoya Akhtar: "I won't visit Australia till the government takes drastic steps to stop the violence."
Vikram Bhatt: "No chance. I'm deeply angered. In fact, I was planning a film in Australia. But, not any more."
Kunal Kohli: "Mr. Bachchan's refusal to accept the doctorate should be starting point for us all to take similar action. I definitely would NOT shoot in Australia till the attacks are stopped and definite laws are implemented to prevent such attacks."
Madhu Mantena: "I've been encouraging friends abroad to shoot in Mumbai after 26/11. By the same yardstick, we can't give up Australia because of a few demented individuals."
Abbas-Mustan: "It would be a risk for the entire starcast to shoot in Australia given the present circumstances."
Bunty Walia: "Nope. A country that doesn't look after my countrymen will never figure in my work and leisure scheme."
Abhishek Kapoor: "Given the present circumstances, no, I wouldn't shoot in Australia."
Priyadarshan: "No. I wouldn't shoot in Australia even if my script required."
Imtiaz Ali: "I do not know the specifics yet. Will learn and respond"
Sanjay Leela Bhansali: "What is happening to our children in Australia is unforgivable and goes beyond the interests of art and culture. However, if you ask me, I wouldn't want to shoot in Australia until they sort this matter out. And why go to hostile country when our country is so beautiful?"
John Mathew: "No. I wouldn't shoot in Australia"
Boney Kapoor: "Are you kidding? No way will I shoot in Australia."
Madhur Bhandarkar: "First ensure the safety of our boys, then, we'll see about shooting in Australia. What guarantee is there for anyone's life in a country where a handful of people are terrorizing foreigners? Given the circumstances, I don't want to risk my cast and crew's life in Australia."
Akbar Khan: "The time has come to seriously consider that the clash of nationalities will spell doom on the world. We've to challenge any power that comes in the way of bonding humans of all nationality. As a filmmaker, I won't be cowed down by stray incidents. If my script demands me to shoot in Australia, I will."
Bhavna Talwar: "I am definitely not shooting in Australia, unless the Australian government takes steps to ensure the safety of Indians and resorts to the strongest measures to put a stop to racial hatred."
Manish Acharya: "The recent attacks are too frequent to be random. There's a systematic racist bias being displayed. And in such a situation, I wouldn't want to shoot there. For the sake of a film, I cannot put the safety of my cast and crew at risk."
Aparna Sen: "No, I wouldn't shoot in Australia. What's happening there is deplorable."
Abbas Tyrewala: "Shoot in Australia? Yes, preferably with a Smith & Wesson."Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 6 Jun 2009 | 9:45 am 'Jai ho' set to be millionth English word - Times of India

MOST people would've been driven crazy if they were shuttling between work, moving into a new house in Mumbai and opening a restaurant in Delhi. But the dishy Arjun Rampal's very busy and happening life elicits a wide grin. "This is indeed one of the best phases of my life. Everything seems perfect - we moved into our new house, a penthouse in Bandra, early this week. We're both decorating our house the way we want and at the pace we enjoy," he beams.
Lap - the restaurant he is opening in Delhi's posh neighbourhood of Malcha Marg in collaboration with restaurateur A. D. Singh - offers him more reasons to beam about. The restaurant is being designed by Sandeep Khosla of the famed Abu-Sandeep duo. "I've been shuttling between the two cities, to oversee the work for the restaurant. It's a project close to my heart since I'm quite a foodie." While in Mumbai, he frequents Singh's Olive, China House at Grand Hyatt and Aurus in Juhu. The 36-year-old, however, chose Delhi for this pet project because that's where he spent his early years. "I know a lot of people there and, besides, I found a lovely space in the city, which is growing in terms of hospitality."
The restaurant, likely to open its doors in August, aims to create a benchmark in world cuisine while keeping the ambience casual and easy. "The ambience of an eatery plays a key role and is almost as important as the food one serves as it sets the pace of the evening and the meal for the guest," he smiles his Buddha-like smile.
While most will insist that his divine smile is his USP, it's the devilishly gorgeous actor's intense character, Joe Mascarenhas, in Farhan Akhtar's Rock On!! that won him a slew of awards this year. And Rampal hopes that with forthcoming films, like Prakash Jha's Rajneeti, where he plays a character with political undertones, and Sajid Khan's Housefull, which will see him in a "comic role like never before", he will continue his run at the awards.
This model-turned-actor's chiselled looks recently also brought him an international commercial for Schweppes opposite Hollywood diva Nicole Kidman, shot in Udaipur's Lake Palace. The offer - his first international commercial - did come as a surprise and Rampal's stroke of luck continues as the ad, uploaded on youtube.com, has already had 400 million hits. "It's phenomenal and flattering," he exclaims. "I'm really content with the way my life is shaping up - it's well-rounded and balanced. I hope I can stay focussed on my career and not disappoint anyone. Though my job is like a roller-coaster ride, I think the ups and downs have been worth it."

There is a big fat Punjabi wedding waiting to happen at Deepa Mehta's farm house in Canada
Her daughter Devyani is all set to marry her boyfriend, the well known Toronto-based architect Ian Chodikoff, who also edits the 'Canadian Architect' magazine.
Devyani and Ian have been seeing each other for some years. Pleased as punch with the alliance, proud mother-in-law Deepa has put both her mammoth projects on hold until all the wedding festivities are over.
Glowing with pride about the matter of the bride, Deepa says, ''Right now I can't think of anything except my daughter's wedding. Ian is a wonderful son-in-law. And yes he's Canadian.''
Deepa herself has a Caucasian life partner David Hamilton whom she never married. But in spite of a failed first marriage, she isn't against the institution. ''When Devyani told me she was going to marry Ian, I jumped out of my chair with joy. I've liked Ian from the start and was pretty sure he was the right choice for her.''
Elaborating on D-Day, Deepa divulges, ''We've chosen 12 September for the wedding. It'd be held at my farm house on the outskirts of Toronto.''
The guest list would be very exclusive. ''My mom is already here with me. My brother Dilip and sister-in-law are expected to join us. Also some other close relatives.''
The couple will undergo a mix ceremony that would mark the merger of Hindu and Christian rituals. ''It would be a very informal impromptu and spontaneous ceremony,'' informs Deepa.
From the Mumbai film industry, Akshay Kumar who is a Canadian citizen and also the leading man of Deepa's historical Kamagata Maru is expected to attend.
Right now Deepa isn't thinking of her work. ''My two projects Kamagata Maru and Midnight's Children are on hold. I've completed the script of Kamagata Maru and the principal casting. We start principal shooting in March 2010.''
As for her ambitious adaptation of Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children, Shabana Azmi, Nandita Das and Seema Biswas have already been cast. Salman Rushdie himself wants to play a supporting role. The protagonist's role is still open. But Deepa is in no hurry to cast.
''After the wedding I've to sit with Salman and finish the script. Having known him for so long, it's a pleasure to work on the script with him. We'll go into the casting of the hero Salim Sinai as soon as the script is done.'' But Salman Rushdie would like Imran Khan to play the lead.
As for the poor response to her last film Heaven On Earth in India, Deepa says, ''Every film has its own destiny. Women in Punjab responded against this whole idea they have there of sending their daughters off to foreign countries after marrying them to NRIs without ascertaining their credentials. If such hast marriages are discouraged by my film I think I've succeeded.''Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 5 Jun 2009 | 3:13 pm Dispute with theatre-owners resolvedHeaving a sigh of relief after a 14-hour meeting today that resolved a crippling four-month dispute between Bollywood producers-distributors and theatre-owners, United Producers and Distributors Forum (UPDF) chairman Mukesh Bhatt said that he was glad to have finally achieved "fair rights for Friday nights".Source: Entertainment News | 5 Jun 2009 | 2:54 pm Miss Tibet pageant begins in DharamsalaThe Spice India Splendour Miss Tibet Pageant 2009, which has four beauties vying for the crown, got underway in this Himachal Pradesh hill town Friday. Your Style Statement names your authentic self. It is a compass for designing a life that reflects the true you. From your wisdom to your wardrobe; from your longings to your living room, your business, finances, and the parties you throw -- your Style Statement is where your essence meets your expression. Mumbai, June 4, 2009, Juhu PVR cinemas experienced the best of the Fashion world at the IIFA Fashion extravaganza press conference held to promote the grand event to take place in Macau next week. The star studded night at IIFA Macau will see leading designers like Rocky S, Manav Gangwani, Anamika Khanna, Farah Ali Khan and Hong Kong designer Chris Chang showcase their designs. Not only that, there are quite a few show stoppers lined up for the night too. Hrithik and Suzanne Roshan will walk the ramp for Farah Ali Khan and the always-chic Sonam Kapoor for Anamika Khanna. There's more guy! Bipasha Basu will walk for Rocky S and Neil Nitin Mukesh along with Mugdha Godse will walk the ramp for the events sponsor Siyaram. Adding glamour to the evening, international singing sensation Peter Andre will perform at the Fashion Extravaganza too. But what's the fashion show without its dapper looking hosts. In walks the gorgeous Sophie Chodhry and accompanying her will be the handsome Khan, Zayed. The stylish duo will host the grand fashion show to be held at the Venetian Resort Hotel. UK's Harrow Observer and Gazette columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent Devansh Patel gets into the fashion fever mood as he chats with the host Zayed Khan to talk about everything to do with style, looking dapper, his fashion idol, his fashion flaws, his hatred for the colour pink, the fashionable Fardeen and the not so fashionable Hrithik and the one person who got the entire Bollywood fashion conscious and the nation go ga-ga over his phenomenal style statement - Late Mr. Feroz Khan. As Yves Saint Laurent quotes, "Fashion fades but style is eternal."
Looks like it's a deliberate move by the IIFA to rope in Zayed Khan, knowing that the Khan family (including the Late. Feroz Khan, Fardeen Khan and Hrithik Roshan) is always known for their fashion and style. (laughs) You can either say a deliberate move or a smart move. There is a certain comfort I have with the management of IIFA and there is a certain trust they have in me. It's a big event. It's a grand event this year where they want to show off, and we want to take this opportunity and let them show off.
We thought that it's the yellow, pink or the green season with summer almost coming to an end. You're sporting a dapper pine striped lavender jacket with a purple tie and white jeans. You've changed things.
There are these critical fashion fluxes that keep happening every year and you just take that into consideration and you make your own fashion statement as you go. Yes, it is about pastel colours, it is about cigarette jeans, tapered looks, bondish and fitting stuff. But then you must have the physique and a body for that otherwise it looks terrible. I mean, you and me could carry it off (laughs). I never really look at the colours. It's a woman thing. Men like the sharp cut in anything they wear and if they get that, just about any colour would do. What I'm wearing now is a Manav Gangwani creation.
Recall you first instance in life when you walked the ramp.
I was terrible in school and college. I was called Pizza face. I was very thin. I was a good sportsman. The only thing I can recall was during my school days when we had a play called 'Aladin' where I played the title role (laughs). That was my first ever time I was on stage. That was really nostalgic. But I did walk the ramp last year for the IIFA Bangkok for my film Mission Istanbul. But the first time I walked the ramp ever was for my sister Farah Khan for her accessories she had showcased. After that I've walked for many designers like Vikram Phadnis, Manav Gangwani, Rocky S, etc.
