Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 27 May 2009 | 10:58 am "Deepika is gorgeous and is more beautiful than Angelina Jolie" - Rob Cohen
International Hollywood director Rob Cohen thinks that the graceful, classic and radiant Bollywood actress, Deepika Padukone, is the new face of Indian cinema being touted as the next big thing as per the overseas audiences feedback. The Indian super model turned actress has carved a niche for herself not only within Indian cinema, but is also creating a sensation internationally. According to Rob Cohen, whose credit includes The Witches of Eastwick and The Fast and the Furious, "Deepika Padukone is gorgeous and is more beautiful than Angelina Jolie."
The director has also indicated his interest in casting Deepika for his next film project in Hollywood. Talks are on with both the parties but none of them are ready to comment on the same till the deal gets locked in. Now if that's the case, then Deepika Padukone will be India's newest and the quickest entrant in Hollywood. Deepika's striking beauty and cover model appeal have made her the favourite cover girl for fashion magazines like Vogue, Elle, Cosmopolitan, L'Officiel, and Marie Claire. Maxim Magazine recently voted her "The Hottest Girl on Earth" not just for her huge fan following but also because of her appeal as an international brand face.
Rob Cohen adds, "Deepika's diverse and versatile body of work continues to truly make her one of the youngest, most gorgeous and most talented super model and actresses to have taken both the cinema and fashion industry by storm. Her versatility as a model and inimitable style have made her a popular celebrity ambassador for international brands such as Tissot, Maybelline, Pepsi, Levi's, Wrigley's and Fiama Di Wills to name a few."
And as far as our comments are concerned, all we can say is that Deepika, you sure are too fast and furious.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 27 May 2009 | 9:58 am "I don't want to slot my film into musical genre" - Ken Ghosh
Ken Ghosh is finally a happy man. Leaving the so-called controversy around Jiah being replaced by Genelia behind, he has moved on to do better things for his yet untitled movie with Shahid Kapoor by shooting non-stop for a few songs. Highly charged with the way the shoot is going, he goes on to appreciate the film's composer Adnan Sami for the fabulous music that he has created for the film.
"You have to hear it to believe it", says Ken whose last two films Ishk Vishk and Fida too boasted of quite a few popular tracks, "Adnan Sami has created some outstanding music for my film. You will hear a very different Adnan this time around; what he has done is simply kick-ass."
One really hopes so because after a terrific score in Lucky - No Time For Love, one has waited for Adnan to return to similar form through films like Mumbai Salsa, Shaurya, Khushboo and 1920.
So are there any highlight tracks that we are looking at? "Now that's something that a filmmaker as well as audiences also expect from the music i.e. to have a couple of lead tracks that could help the album sail through. However, that was never an intention for the music of our film. Here it's not a single track that will be the USP of the music; each of the numbers is going to make an impact", he says.
So can it be conveniently stated that his film can be slotted in the 'musical' genre? "See, if you make a movie like Chicago, you can term it as a musical since there you could have characters break into songs and state dialogues through music. It's not the case with my film. And if you ask me whether the film has quite a few songs and are they all integral to the narration then well, most films being made today could be termed as musical by that definition", he reasons.
He isn't comfortable assigning a genre to his film. "Really, I don't like putting a film into one particular bracket", says Ken, "Ultimately, a film should have a good story, which we certainly have. The film is about a dancer (played by Shahid) who is a struggler. The film is about relationships where an individual believes that he/she knows it all but ends up learning a lot from the people around. It is mainly about human spirit and how you look at life!"Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 27 May 2009 | 9:50 am Who Prompts The Divorce In Indian Families? - Oneindia
Source: Google News India - Entertainment | 27 May 2009 | 9:41 am Anupam Kher gets a band-baaja welcome in Bhor
It was a moment he won't forget easily. When on Tuesday, Anupam Kher reached Bhor on the outskirts of Mumbai to resume the shooting of Walt Disney Production's Zokkomon, 100 children along with the entire cast and crew of the film, waited to greet Anupam with a full-fledged band-baaja.
Anupam was zapped. "Before I had left Bhor, I told the unit of Zokkomon I was going to Mumbai to attend the premiere of Saaransh to celebrate 25 years in cinema. I also taunted the unit, 'You should receive me with a full musical band, no less, when I return.' Little did I expect them to take my words seriously. When I got back on Tuesday they had actually arranged a huge band from Pune to greet me. The minute I came to the location the band started playing."
Anupam was moved beyond words. That's not all. What followed made him burst into tears. "All the kids in the film made me put on a party cap, cut a cake and sang congratulatory songs. You've no idea how much I wept today."
Says the actor, "When I see such love showered on me, I wonder if I've really done anything to deserve this."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 27 May 2009 | 9:20 am Saif-Deepika reshoot for 'Love Aaj Kal' - Times of India

Neetu Chandra's 'woman-on-woman' photo shoot has literally created a storm. Leave aside the protests (or the lack of them), the fact remains that the pictures have been noticed by one and all (though quite a few also deny having looked at them, but more on that later) and the Garam Masala girl who got 'lucky' with an unlucky number '13' quite recently has now moved up from a 'Traffic Signal' to Page 1 across National Dailies as well as prime slots on news channels.
Joginder Tuteja catches up with quite a few industry men and tries to gauge their reaction on Neetu's photo shoot. While doing so, we came across an interesting trend. While majority of top line actors (names withheld) either refrained from commenting at all or evaded the query by stating - 'I am yet to look at the pictures', quite a few Bollywood filmmakers were game to share their views around the photo shoot. This is what they had to say:
Ken Ghosh - "It's quite an interesting concept! Great going!"
Shirish Kunder - "Awesome. In fact I thought it was a little restrained. They should have gone out a little more."
Rohit Jugraj - "I think it's very awesome and gutsy on Neetu's part to go ahead with such bold and sensuous pictures. Times are changing and we should pay heed. They say cinema is a reflection of the changing society and if the world can have a festival like Moondance (a gay and dance film festival), we can at least celebrate freedom of expression in cinema. I have always had a script about two women, a pack of cigarettes and a road trip in mind, though that script of mine is not about lesbian characters but does have an intimate moment between the girls. Photo shoots like Neetu's only prove to me that audience is ready, howsoever niche it may be. But the question is - 'Are we filmmakers ready to handle such themes deftly with maturity and sensitively?"
Jag Mundhra - "I just checked one such picture on the net. I think it is quite beautiful and provocative. Her body language is defiant; celebrating raw female sexuality. It says - 'As an artist I am ready to push the boundaries'. It defies the viewer to do the same. I think it is very symbolic than sexy, just like the PETA ads."
Randeep Hooda - "Neetu's pictures are very hot. It's in some form or the other every man's fantasy. It's about time we started opening up about it (smiles). It's a brave shoot so cheers to her!"
Rahul Dholakia - "I saw the shoot, and while I thought it was an interesting concept and a good marketing tool, I don't think we should give it any more importance than that. If this picture is generating any kind of controversy, I don't think it should. It's bold but not obscene; it's about two women, maybe lesbians. So what?"
Piyush Jha - "Everyday I get surprised at how much further and further we are pushing the envelope of morality in India. While I am not aesthetically riveted by the pictures, I am impressed by the challenge it throws at the so called 'norms' of our society."
Madhu Mantena - "I am in London and haven't seen the pictures yet. However, would like to meet them together!"
Navdeep Singh - "Girl-girl action is always very welcome. These pictures seemed tasteful enough. There is a need and space for some eroticism in our lives. And when it's girl-on-girl, it's even better!!!"
Vivek Agnihotri - "We are living in time of media clutter and to get mind share, media must titillate; so a shoot like this is nothing novel. Also competition is so tough in our industry that lots of people are willing to go to any extent to be noticed. What can be a better way than shock the audiences? The picture meets both these aspirations. Neetu is talented and I am sure she is capable of shocking more with her talent and soon she will realize it."
Suparn Verma - "More woman power! She looks fabulous and the pictures are aesthetically done. I think the moral police should take a nap!"
Robby Grewal - "Neetu has liked doing the shoot and I have liked looking at the pictures. So where does the question of protests or morality come into picture? At the end of the day when an artist and a consumer are comfortable with something, there should not be a problem with everyone else. And come on, it's not the first time that such pictures have come on print, so why are we making a hue and cry?"Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 26 May 2009 | 3:48 pm "Geeta is like Rakhi Sawant; she's muffat but kick-ass" - Anjori Alagh
The last time we interviewed her was during her second Bollywood outing, for Vikram Bhatt's 1920. She is also the second child in her family after her elder sister Savari Alagh. What's more, this babe has got a dual personality - the good and the bad in her. Good because she took us out for a lovely dinner last year at Indigo Deli and Mainland China where we munched on some paper thin pizzas and her favourite Apple slush. 'Rings a bell Anjori?' Bad because more than the bites on her Pizzas, she often bites her finger nails. To add further, this is the second 'Seeta Aur Geeta' offering. While one was made as a movie starring the beautiful Hema Malini, this one's being made as a 260 episode tele-series currently aired on NDTV Imagine. Yesterday, the 25th of May 2009 witnessed the debut of Anjori Alagh on to the small screen and how. A private party was thrown in by the producers, Abhinav Kashyap (Anurag Kashyap's brother) and the Bohra Brothers, to mark the launch of 'Seeta Aur Geeta' at the Country Club in Andheri. Anjori had given us the time - 7.15pm. We wait for her to arrive, and as soon as she does we congratulate her. A firm shake of hands, a warm hug and a little whisper in the ears saying, "Please be honest and tell me how you like my first episode" makes you want to sit more and enjoy the battle of the goodies and the baddies in the form of 'Seeta Aur Geeta'. So pristine is Alagh that we noticed she hasn't changed a bit. She looked half cute and half sexy. In fact, she looked double the thrill last night in her sleeveless sky blue tee and skirt. No gaudy make up, no fake smiles, no over the top saying 'I always wanted to venture into television' and all. We sometimes wonder, 'Was there any sense in us calling her Alagh?' Didn't we say she was pristine? Anyway, the double role fever had just started to sink in for us as the lights dim and our eyes are forced on to looking at the big screen for the small screen masti to unfold at a brisk pace. UK's Harrow Observer columnist and Bollywood Hungama's London correspondent Devansh Patel was a special guest last night to witness the first of its kind tele-series based on a full length feature film 'Seeta Aur Geeta'. So as soon as the curtains come down after the launch, the cute and sexy Seeta and Geeta walks towards us saying, "Please tell me how did you like it?". The answer was too obvious, "Wait till you read it tomorrow morning sweetheart." Though we didn't want to make Anjori Alagh waiting for more, we decided to give her something else in return. No review but an interview was waiting for her round the corner. With a diet cola drink in her hand she orders one for us too in case we started to sweat in the summer heat. So with two gulps down, we started talking about her two dream roles, twice the fun, too much hard work and her double act - from cinema to television.
There will surely be a love-hate relationship here. I mean, the viewers are going to love or hate either of the two characters. I think both might be liked. Most of our Indian men love the docile, sweet, gharelu ladki. And then the women will like Geeta more because she fights back. She is more kick-ass and muffat.
Did you get some feedback on the show from Hema Malini?
No. I didn't get to interact with her much. I wanted to but till then the Press came and took over. But she was really supportive and I didn't want her to be upset. She did say, "Don't get worried about your characters Anjori. Play 'Seeta Aur Geeta' the way you would like to play them". And that's exactly what I'm doing on screen.
What about your brother-in-law, Sameer Nair, the head of NDTV Imagine. The media says that you got this opportunity because of him.
What rubbish! A channel cannot be run on relationships. I went and auditioned and Sam, as I call him, didn't even know till Sunil Bohra called him and informed him about me being chosen for the serial. This credit is not going to Sameer Nair. It's all mine.
Will 'Seeta Aur Geeta' give a lot back to you in return when you again jump back to films next year? Yes. It's a great grooming process I'll take back. I've done two films in my career and I've had many flaws in it. I need to work a lot on it and this is a golden opportunity I can ever get. I am shooting every single day till the end of the year and I'm sure it's going to help in the long run. There are no breaks in serials like in films.
So are you prepared for your best and the worst feedback?
Yes I am. I have already started getting the feedback. It's not like everyone is patting my back and saying that I've done a wonderful job. No. There is feedback I get from NDTV Imagine, there's feedback which my producer and director gives me. It's a constant learning process on what to do and what not to.
