It was not a happy homecoming for Akshay Kumar who was returning home after nearly a month of staying abroad. Akki, who arrived in Mumbai late last night, was arrested by cops at the Vakola police station early today morning. He was, however, subsequently released on bail.
It may be recalled that the actor was embroiled in a huge controversy when his wife Twinkle Khanna unbuttoned his jeans at the recently held Lakme India Fashion Week. An activist Anil Nair had taken offence and filed a case against the couple.
Akshay was arrested for the same case early today morning. However, since his case was a bailable one he was sanctioned bail. Earlier even his wife Twinkle was arrested and released on bail. This film stars Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Bipasha Basu, Mugdha Godse and Fardeen Khan.
The moment we saw Sanju baba on the first day of the shoot, we just couldn't our eyes off him. He was looking like a true Rock Star with those glares and tattoos. Added to that was the cool scarf that plied its way on Sanju baba's neck. In short, Baba was all set to shoot this jazzy number with Bipasha and Ajay. The second schedule of the film is currently on and this song choreographed by Bosco-Caesar is being shot on a lavish set constructed on a South Goa beach. Pritam has composed the music for the film.

Source: Google News India - Entertainment | 18 May 2009 | 10:24 am Indian gaming: Is it ready for localization?
As the gaming wave surges internationally, the tidings are increasingly improving for Indian developers and publishers too.
Ghajini, Hanuman, Dhoom 2, gilli danda, kabaddi and many more...the list is soon going to be longer. Many have arrived, several others are in the pipeline and a slate of localized Indian games is being planned. With the growth of the Indian gaming space and the emergence of a number of new players, the market has also started accepting localized content.
Conventional wisdom says that with the emergence made-to-order Indian games, the opportunities for game developers, publishers, console owners and online game portals will abound. But is that happening? Is India ready to embrace this 'made in India, made for India' content wave? How does the Indian consumer, who is also exposed to work class content, react to the localized games genre? Let's find out.
Who consumes localized Indian games?
Says Alok Kejriwal, CEO of Games2win.com, whose company has games in 23 global languages and a huge bouquet of games on based on Indian themes, "We develop around 20 online casual games every month, out of which around four to five are based on Indian themes. Surprisingly, if we talk numbers, consumers from foreign countries are more hooked on to Indian games as compared to Indian gamers."
Alok further questions the viability of PC and console localized content. "We have an online platform through which we can take our games to the world wide audience; but localized games on PC and console are not a fair model as they have limited lifecycles and gamers don't hook on much on such kind of games. Besides, it takes a lot of time and money to develop games on PC and console platform."
Gamers' take:
Bhavya Parekh, an avid gamer and owner of one of the best gaming cafes in Mumbai, NRG gaming cafe, says, "At our cafe, gamers prefer to play international games because those games have quality graphics and stories which excite them. I personally have tried playing a couple of localized games but liked only the ones which have an interesting storyline and game play." And that, most think, is in short supply.
"Gamers will definitely play a game if it has a universal appeal and challenging game play. We want to see more of quality Indian games which can attract gamers as compared to the huge number of international titles," Bhavya adds.
Established Market?
Taking the lead in developing original IP based games on consoles, Sony recently launched its first Indianized game, Hanuman: Boy Warrior on the PS2 platform. According to Sony, the game sold 10,000 units on the day of release, but how good is that as compared to the international hits?
Jayant Sharma, the chief executive of the PC and console game distributor Milestone Interactive, says, "The Hanuman game has been one of the biggest selling titles on PS2. When your product is locally relevant and you have kept a low price point, there are chances that you will see growth in the number of copies sold, as it has mass potential. What takes you to the final success is the quality of game and how long the interest in it can be sustained."
"It's like releasing an English film with 10-12 prints versus a Hindi film with 250 prints in India, where success doesn't depend on the number of people coming to the box office in the opening week, but on the sustainability of the movie in the theatres. So, everything depends on the quality of the game."
Publisher's take:
Sony Playstation Country Manager (India) Atindriya Bose shares, "Someone has to take the lead. As a platform owner we felt that the onus is ultimately on us. If this starts happening, the government will realize its huge potential. We look at it (Hanuman) as an investment because in a couple of years, there will be a huge market for gaming consoles. In fact, if our competition also becomes more active, the consumer gaming market will grow even more rapidly."
"At the same time if I look at what has happened with Hanuman; there were pressures and questions. We had estimated a day one sales number of 5,000 units, which is better than what a FIFA does. We went ahead and decided to give it a push and ended up with a good figure of 10,000 units for day one. Now, the distribution channel is ready to stock and position the game. If we give it a push, the game will do 50,000 units in one year, which is fantastic. If many such titles come in and the market grows, 50,000 units will be an easy number."
Conclusion:
On the whole, India is at the moment not ready for localized content as there are limited sources of revenue, but one that is still evolving. Though the market is embryonic, studios need to focus on quality and creative work. Who knows, down the line, we might see local content taking the centre stage.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 18 May 2009 | 10:24 am Cannes Updates: Ash-Abhi rushed back to India for Election results
Rightly, Abhishek Bachchan and his better-half flew back to
Mumbai after attending the opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival because they wanted to be home in time

Indian Industries hosted by the flamboyant Vijay Mallya on Saturday night for the Bollywood delegates at
Cannes.
Says Abhishek, "It's a crucial election for us. And we wanted to be here when the results came in."
The rest of Bollywood's who's who that attended stayed back. On Friday night actress Tannishtha Chatterjee (of
Brick Lane fame) who is at Cannes to introduce her film Road, Movie directed by Dev Benegal
attended the Premiere of Cannes' main feature film this year Bright Star.
And Tannishtha met the director Jane Campion. "I'm a big fan of all her works specially The Piano. To my
delight she had seen my film Brick Lane and liked it. The night before Bright Star, I attended
the premiere of the other big film Fish Tank which is one of the hottest films this year in the

Fassbiner at Cannes last year."
Not much buzz is heard about Anurag Basu's much-touted Kites

much is written about her in the Indian press. At Cannes no one could recognize her."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 18 May 2009 | 10:04 am The very best of Prakash Mehra - Rediff

After A.R. Rahman did the nation proud by bagging two Oscars for his Slumdog Millionaire score, it's now the turn of ace music composer duo Salim-Sulaiman to bring some more laurels to the Indian music industry.
In case you are wondering what we are talking about, then let us tell you that the talented duo Salim-Sulaiman have bagged a nomination at the Emmy Daytime Awards under the 'Outstanding Original Song- Children's and Animation' category.
Bollywood Hungama got in touch with Sulaiman Merchant who but obviously was all excited, " Yesâ¦.Although the feeling hasn't yet sunk in, we are thrilled on bagging the prestigious Emmy nomination. The nomination is for a track called 'We Like Being Small' which we composed for a special episode of Nickelodeon's T.V. show 'The Wonder Pets'. Since the episode 'Save The Bengal Tiger' had an Indian flavour to it, we were approached to do the music and we are glad that we took it up. It can't get more exciting for us now that we have bagged the prestigious Emmy nomination."
While the composer duo are busy with their current lot of Bollywood assignments which includes the background score of Kites, and the music of Teen Patti and Luck, they surely would be gearing up to attend the grand ceremony scheduled to take place on August 30th.
We wish Salim- Sulaiman all the best and hope that they indeed come home with the coveted statue and give us all yet another reason to celebrate.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 18 May 2009 | 9:55 am Big B, Abhishek in French director's film?

Just a few days back, Bollywood lost its most popular actor cum film maker Feroz Khan and yesterday, fate belted out yet another cruel blow when it snatched away the veteran filmmaker Prakash Mehra from amidst us. The prolific filmmaker, who was unwell for a while now, died early (Sunday) morning due to multiple organ failure. He was 69 years old.
Prakash Mehra was the person who needs to be credited for creating the cult 'Angry Young Man' image of Amitabh Bachchan with his super-hit film Zanjeer. In the following years, the director-actor duo went on to give us several super-hit films such as Hera Pheri, Lawaaris, Sharaabi, Namak Halal, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar...to name a few. Unfortunately, Jaadugar, which was the last film of this duo, turned out to be a Box Office disaster.
Prakash Mehra's last directorial venture was Bal Brahmchari, which marked the debut of Puru Raaj Kumar, the son of the late Raj Kumar. The film was a complete washout at the B-O and also happened to be the last film of Prakash Mehra.
Needless to say that, Bollywood will really miss this filmmaker who gave us some of the most entertaining films of the 70's and 80's. In this hour of grief, Bollywood Hungama offers its heartfelt condolences to Prakash Mehra's family and prays that his soul rests in eternal peace.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 18 May 2009 | 8:57 am Big B, Abhishek in French director's film?.Source: Entertainment News | 18 May 2009 | 8:25 am Bipasha Basu new brand ambassador for Aristocrat - Business Standard
