The power of the Common Man can never be underestimated. He is the one who has the power to decide everything right from which party will run the Govt. to which movie will be a B.O. hit?
Keeping this in mind, Bollywood Hungama presents Anmol Pavlekar - Ek Aam Aadmi. He is a simple man with a simple life. But he knows the pulse of the common man as he himself is one. However, the one thing that makes him unique is that he is brutally vocal about his opinions and does not believe in making his talks 'politically correct'.
Starting this week, Anmol Pavlekar will give his take on IPL- the cricketing extravaganza that has taken the world by storm. Full of sardonic wit and tongue-in-cheek humour, this is one 'IPL update' that you can't afford to miss. To listen to Anmol Pavlekar's IPL updates, click on the audio links below.

Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 12 May 2009 | 2:29 pm "'The Unforgettable' is based on a true story of a ruthless girl" - Arsala Quereishi
In their debut English film The Unforgettable, co-director Arsala Qureishi and Sabrina Louis aren't shying away from calling a spade a spade. They are
happy to disclose that the film is based on true events that happened around them with the film's protagonists based on some real life characters. They go
one step ahead and mince no words in declaring that they have based their female protagonist on a girl they knew who was a ruthless character in real
life.
"What you would see in the movie though is just a sketch of what this girl was in real life", remembers Arsala Quereishi, "In fact the real happenings in the
life of this girl and her man were so much more blatant and unacceptable. We had to mellow it all down to a huge extent and cut short the ruthlessness that
she brought with her in real life."
"If I had a free hand and not much worries about bringing the story on the big screen, I would have had even lesser mercy in the characterisation of the
female protagonist of our film", Sabrina Louis takes off here, "I don't think we could even come close to such a character for our film. If we would have
done that, it the film would have become too dark and morbid. This is why we played the two characters quite evenly and in a subtle way put forth the extent
that they would go to."
"When I was writing the story, I could feel the pain that this guy must have been going through", says Arsala, "In fact it took me two years to get my final
draft of the script in place. I think there were such extreme emotions that these two people were going through that we could have never ever known that such
feelings do exist."
"At the end of the day, it's all about possessiveness", Sabrain chips in here, "We saw these two people in love but somehow there wasn't much positive energy
in their affair. We used to become really uneasy in their presence. There was jealousy, obsession and lies involved and it was just not a happy feeling at
the end of the day.
Pitched as a film about two extreme characters (played by Raji James and Sofia Hayat), The Unforgettable is touted as a film that defies rules and
stereotypes. While the man completely believes in control of all desires, the woman feels that one should just surrender to the desires if need arises.
Screened at The Berlin Film Festival last year, The Unforgettable is aiming for a 8th May release in India.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 12 May 2009 | 1:57 pm KITES is BIG's tent pole movie at this years festivals - GlamSham

In India, the game of football is practically the equivalent of a magnetic fad - preceded only by Bollywood and cricket being the other two. However, even the filmi folks have their own fanatism when it comes to sports and Abhishek Bachchan is no outsider to that. Abhishek, the self proclaimed Chelsea fanatic, recently got his wish-of-a-lifetime fulfilled when he was invited specially by the Chelsea Football Club to witness the Chelsea v/s Barcelona's semi-final game at Stamford Bridge.
However, the interesting part was that Abhishek was not alone as he had, for his company, the likes of none other than Peter Kenyon, the much-celebrated CEO of Chelsea Football Club, England's national coach Capello, Hollywood actor Clive Owen, and Carles Puyol - Barcelona's Captain nonetheless!
Adding more excitement to this already delirious mix was when Abhishek became the first person to be presented with the new 'jersey' of Chelsea team. MOVIE DETAILS
Cast: Irrfan Khan, Koel Purie
Director: Ashvin Kumar
Music: Susmit Sen
THE FILM
It's a pity that after watching Road To Ladakh, what you end up remembering is a steamy scene featuring Irrfan Khan and Koel Purie, the lead
protagonists of the film. Coming towards the film's pre climax, the sequence is in fact quite long drawn and is the most explicit ever that one would have
seen mainstream Bollywood actors indulging themselves in. Not just that, towards the end of it all, there is also this extended shot where a male butt holds
centre-stage (literally) as the camera freezes for those 5 odd seconds. While the face is not shown, it is suggested that the butt you just saw belongs to
Irrfan Khan. So a question to the talented Khan - 'Was it really you Mr. Khan? 6 years back?'
Did I just say 'six years'? Yes, indeed six years, because it is after such a long time gap that this festival film has arrived on home video. Frankly, there
was no clue or pointer being thrown around direct-to-DVD release of this film this season and the first reaction was that of a pleasant surprise. Reason? For
a layman, you would hardly know that the film was made more than half a decade back. Moreover, the makers have very smartly hidden the release time period of
the movie by only mentioning the festivals that Road To Ladakh had been to; not the 'years' when this happened!
So what one gets to see is this really abstract film (even by today's standards) when two jeeps keep meandering along the roads of Ladakh while continuing to
tease the audience into following the journey of the ones in the driving seat. Till a point of time, it is still OK as you let the mystery grow around you
with both Irrfan as well as Koel seemingly carrying a mysterious aura around them. But then after a while, impatience sets in, something which is not helped
by a screechy sound design (don't have a clue whether it was intentional or an effect of show string budget?) since a chase sequence was never as hammering
on your ear drums as evidenced here.
With Irrfan and Koel being two strangers coming together and spending those few minutes in lust, there is this sudden end that leaves you entirely
speechless. Agreed that Road To Ladakh has been made in a short film format and one can't expect (and should not be as well) a conventional way of
story telling. Still, it's the lack of sense and logic behind the tale which is more exasperating than its culmination.
PACKAGING
The DVD comes in a regular plastic case
DURATION
The film's duration is 45 minutes (Yes, 45 mins. It's a short film!)
SPECIAL FEATURES
- An added 15 minutes short film titled 'Little Terrorist'
- Making of 'Road To Ladakh' and 'Little Terrorist'
If Road To Ladakh was an excruciating affair then have a look at another short film (in fact even shorter) Little Terrorist. Now this one is
merely 15 minutes long and even though the DVD cover proudly proclaims that it was an Academy Award nomination 4 years back, hence making you slightly
biased, the end result is hardly that would make you begin recommending the DVD to all and sundry. Ok, you really want on? Then take mine, because this one
is yet another ordinary tale of a boy who crosses over the border from Pakistan to India, is taken care of a family out there for a few hours, and then
returns to his motherland. Picture khatam, kaahani finish!
What is ironical though is to see the making of the two films. Guess what, the 'Making of 'Little Terrorist'' is longer than the film itself! To give due
credit, both 'Making' segments remain true to their intent as they take a viewer through the journey of films being conceptualised to casting to location
hunt and other related technical aspect. But frankly, when one is put off by the movie itself, who would be interested in going through their making?
TECHNICAL DETAILS
- 16:9 Anamorphic Widescreen Presentation
- Subtitles in English (only for Hindi dialogues)
- Dolby Digital 5.1
PRICE
Rs. 125/=
CONCLUSION
Picture samajh nahi aayi. And I am sure the director of the film would be more than willing to sit down and give a shot by shot account of the entire 45
minutes affair but what's the point in seeing a film on screen when it has to be explained in person by someone?

Source: Google News India - Entertainment | 12 May 2009 | 9:29 am "I had thought of shelving Jail" - Madhur Bhandarkar
An announcement coming from Madhur Bhandarkar is always equated to an 'expose'! That's the kind of image that the National Award winning filmmaker has built around himself ever since he first made a splash. As Madhur takes a brief break in his hectic shooting schedule, Joginder Tuteja catches up with the filmmaker in a free wheeling conversation to know whether Jail would account for yet another expose of a world hitherto unseen!
When the film was announced, you had promised that it would depict real scenarios about the happenings within and outside Indian jails. Have you been able to achieve that so far?
Very much! So many Hindi films showcase a jail in a pretty glorified manner but I didn't want that to be the case with my Jail. I have kept it entirely realistic while keeping the entertainment quotient in mind. The jail set that we have at ND Studios, Karjat is so real that once you are in, you feel that you have actually landed in a jail.
With more than 60% of your film already been shot, are you looking at September/October timeframe for the release of Jail? After all these have been lucky months for you. Your critically acclaimed Chandni Bar had arrived in September'01 while your biggest money spinner till date, Fashion, was released in October'08.
Personally I don't plan things this way. In fact I never thought like this when I began shooting for the film. Now Page 3 [Jan 2005] and Corporate [July 2006] had released in different months but they were still successful, right? I don't believe in such things. Yes, the kind of hype that Jail has managed to create, September/October would be a good time to release the film but there are other factors to be kept in mind as well.
What kind of other factors?
The biggest of them is this entire stand off between producers and multiplexes. There is bound to be a pile up of pending releases once the strike is called off. I would wait for these films to arrive first and only then will I look forward to bringing my Jail.
Chandi Bar (dance bars), Satta (politics), Page 3 (high society), Corporate (business), Traffic Signal (streets) and Fashion (ramp) - most of your films have looked at a world that has seldom been brought alive on the silver screen. So are you going to expose the underbelly of prison world which is unknown to viewers?
Arrey, aap log toh har film mein 'expose' word laga dete ho (laughs)! Let the movie's shooting get over and promotion begin. Once it will arrive in theaters, you will know for yourself. But yes, I can promise that it will be a Madhur Bhandarkar brand of film for sure.

Last week, the producers and distributors had adopted the tough stand of releasing new films at single screens and independent multiplexes. It was decided to work out the release dates in a cordial atmosphere, so that they don't eat into each other's business.
The latest is, the films will be release from May 29 onwards [starting with Vashu Bhagnani's KAL KISSNE DEKHA], but to give enough breathing space to the new releases, it has been decided to give a 2-week gap between each new release. Which means, the next big film, after KAL KISSNE DEKHA, will arrive on 12th June and the subsequent one on 26th June.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 12 May 2009 | 7:38 am Aiming for 6 to 60 audience

Expect a heavy flow of big-budget and medium-budget films in the forthcoming weeks. Several films attempted by first-timers are also awaiting a release. While 99 hits the screens this Friday, a low-cost film, DETECTIVE NAANI, is arriving next week -- 22nd May. This film too is directed by a first-timer -- Romilla Mukherjee -- who has dabbled in ad and corporate films before.
DETECTIVE NAANI tells the story of a naani [enacted by veteran Ava Mukherjee], who decides to solve a mystery. A la Sherlock Holmes. "I had read about a crime a couple of years ago, but, strangely, the incident stayed in my memory even after so many years. I had no clue what I wanted to make, but when I started writing, the incident flashed in front of my eyes and I decided to use it as the premise. But it's not a serious whodunit. It's more of a light entertainer," Romilla tells me.
Romilla denies that DETECTIVE NAANI is a kiddie film. "It's not. It's for everyone who seeks entertainment. We have held several test screenings of the film to gauge the audience feedback and the response was overwhelming. It holds appeal for everyone from 6 to 60. I don't want my viewer to feel bored while watching the film," she says.
Like 99, DETECTIVE NAANI too would be released at multiplexes next week. "DETECTIVE NAANI is a very small film. If we don't release it now, we wouldn't get a chance once the flow of films begins. We might have to wait till Diwali or Christmas if we skip the date [22nd May]. In fact, we did seek permission from our association [IMPPA] to let us release the film, before we announced the release date," Romilla says.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 12 May 2009 | 7:30 am 'Happy New Year' will go on floors this year: Farah KhanBollywood's ace director Farah Khan says she will start filming her next film 'Happy New Year', which will have Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role, this year, denying reports that the movie has been postponed to next year.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 12 May 2009 | 6:00 am Book on Rajnikant to be released as audio cassette, CDCapturing the struggling days and the 'mysteries behind the persona' of Tamil superstar Rajnikant, a Kannada book about the actor will soon be released in audio cassette and CD format, officials of an audio company said.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 12 May 2009 | 5:00 am Spring-autumn marriages gain popularity on small screenThe trend of older men marrying girls decades younger is fast catching the fancy of many TV serial makers. One of the most eagerly awaited films of the year is the Hrithik Roshan- Kangna Ranaut- Barbara Mori starrer Kites. While the film is likely to hit theatres only in the latter half of the year, it has already generated tremendous buzz among the trade circles. Everything right from Hrithik's sizzling hot chemistry with Barbara Mori to his super cool dance moves is being spoken about. However, not much is known about the film except for the fact that Hrithik plays a salsa dance instructor.
Big Pictures are in fact all keen to market Kites to international buyers, distributors and media during the upcoming Cannes Film Festival. In fact, a brief description of the film's premise is also mentioned in some websites which provide information about this year's Cannes International Film Festival.
The premise of the film goes like this:-
In the harsh terrain of the Mexican desert, a mortally wounded man is left for dead in the heat of the desert sun. This is J (Hrithik Roshan) - once a street smart, carefree, young guy and now a wanted man.
The only thing that keeps him alive is the quest to find the love of his life, Natasha (Barbara Mori). A woman, engaged to another man, but surely destined for J. A woman, who comes into his life like a bolt of lightning, and changes it forever.
Kites is a story of love that goes beyond barriers, boundaries and cultures. It is a story of passion that defies every rule, of a relationship that takes two lovers on a thrilling journey filled with precious moments and unexpected betrayal.
While one will have to wait and watch if this is indeed the film's plot, on first reading it does seem very exciting and intriguing.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 11 May 2009 | 3:42 pm
