Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 8 Apr 2009 | 2:11 pm Hungama Digital Media bags two awards at the Abby's '09 for GhajiniHungama Digital Media Entertainment Pvt Ltd, the largest aggregator, developer and publisher of Indian entertainment content globally, stood tall at Creative Abby's ceremony at the 'Goafest, 2009' with one Silver and one Bronze award for the 'Viral and Email Marketing' and 'Integrated Digital Campaign' categories respectively for the ground breaking digital campaign created for the Bollywood blockbuster, Ghajini. Commenting on the success of this initiative, Neeraj Roy Managing Director and CEO, Hungama Digital Media, said, "It is an honor for me and my team to receive these awards in a prestigious platform like the Abby's. These awards are not only appreciation for our team's innovation, hard work and dedication, but also a definite sign of how the digital platforms have witnessed phenomenal growth and recognition over the past few years. While I am proud of being given these awards for the initiative taken by us for Ghajini, the sheer potential of the digital platform indicates that we have a lot more to explore and conquer." Madhu Mantena, producer of Ghajini also reiterated the potential of the digital medium while congratulating Hungama Digital Media for their award. He said "I feel very happy that the digital initiatives taken for Ghajini have been appreciated at such a renowned forum. The online initiatives have added greatly to the success of the film across the world, by generating curiosity around its interesting elements, without giving away the plot. I hope to continue working with Hungama to use the full potential of the digital medium." The integrated digital campaign for Ghajini was able to engage one million visitors over a period of two months. The website created for Ghajini was a phenomenal success, generating 3 lakh unique visitors prior to the release of the film and 4 to 5 lakh unique visitors post the release of the film. The two virals engaged with close to 2.5 lakh people, with more that 10,000 users posting their pictures on the 'Wall of Suspects' viral. Ghajini was marketed as a path-breaking film. Labeled as the Indian film industry's 'best kept secret', very little information about the movie was communicated prior to its release. The digital campaign too integrated the plot in a way that teases the user just enough but did not in any way give away the suspense of the film. The website true to the theme of the film refreshes itself every 15 minutes just like the central character's memory. No matter which section the user is accessing, every fifteen minutes you are driven back to the homepage. The website was also extremely heavy with video content, but was extremely easy to navigate and load. The two virals, the www.wallofsuspects.com and www.findGhajini.com give the user the experience of the chase in the movie. Exclusive videos of Aamir Khan have been shot and used for the viral www.findGhajini.com. In this viral application, the user plays the role of Sanjay Singhania and tries to find Ghajini through the clues provided. After the user finds a clue, they are lead to find the next one. Once the user finds all the clues, he/she can put them together and dial a unique phone number, to hear Aamir Khan telling them over the phone, "I know who you are, I'm coming to get you on December 25th" (the release date of the film.) Hungama Digital Media has been in the digital entertainment industry for the past ten years and has made a significant contribution to create maximum visibility for South Asian content. Hungama has created path breaking initiatives on the digital space, which not only capture the essence of Bollywood films, but also encompass all the key elements to attract mobile and internet users to the theatres.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 8 Apr 2009 | 1:57 pm Akshay shares family secrets
Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 8 Apr 2009 | 1:31 pm A Day on the sets of Rann with RGV and Mr. Amitabh BachchanClick above for more stills You would actually pinch yourself when you see both Ram Gopal Varma and Amitabh Bachchan on the sets together. But your dream soon becomes a reality when the director says 'Cut'. A series of stunning performances headed RGV's Sarkar and Sarkar Raj, and now Ramu brings together the best element he had crafted in these two films - Amitabh Bachchan. It's like achieving nirvana when you see the lethal combo back again, especially during the making of a film because it's exactly that moment when you come to know the making of a genius. My day started off a day before I visited the sets of RGV's Rann. A text message sent to the director reads - 'Hi Ramu, Have you started your Rann shoot again with Mr Bachchan? I'd like to visit the set'. A prompt reply from RGV says - 'Ya sure. Just let me know when you want to come'. And that's when my poetic instincts, according to RGV, came into act. I reply him back - 'It'll be worth a watch to see the inventor meet the creator, to see the rebel meet the perfectionist and to see the master meet the Sarkar.' Having known Ramu for quite sometime now, I knew he would throw the ball in my court, and how! His text says - 'Now stop being a poet. B is shooting with me tomorrow.' But the question is 'Where'. I call the writer of Rann, Rohit Banawilker for details. 'Madh Island' was the answer. After a gruelling hour and a half I finally reached the destination. 'Viva Bunglows' was where the mighty star cast was present. Amitabh Bachchan in a dapper looking dark blue striped suit, Simone Singh draped in an off white kurta pyjama, Sudeep wrapped up in a shirt and jacket, Neetu Chandra covered from top to bottom in a peach coloured dress and Nina Kulkarni who plays Big B's wife in a beautiful saree. The contemporary look of the bungalow might take you by surprise because RGV has finally moved away from the chawls and the theek thaak looking gharana. All shared a strong camaraderie with Ramu. In the three hours I spent on the sets, two scenes were shot. In a day though, more than five scenes were done and dusted. That's a feat in itself. But don't get surprised. We all know that RGV likes to work at a lightning pace. What's more, his enthusiasm is infectious. Some directors direct from the TV monitor but he'll walk on set with the cameras and interacts with everyone fantastically. Varma's favourite DOP, Amit Roy, pans his camera in a tight close in one of the rehearsals. The director believes that the eyes and the facial expressions of the character speak more in volume. You now know why Sarkar Raj had those tight close ups. Having said that, on the flip side, RGV does what he believes that no other director would've dared to do. In one of the scenes where Nina Kulkarni and Neetu Chandra were seated on a sofa along with Sudeep and Simone Singh, a soft focus of Amitabh Bachchan seen in-between them from a distance was to be shot with no dialogues from the senior most actor. A figure like Mr Bachchan is in soft focus yet it is the most important scene according to RGV because he thinks that people still have their eyes on Big B. For a second, you want to believe that Big B was like a fly on the wall. He had to be there long enough that people forget that he was there. You have to second guess what is going on and to be there for three to four takes to get the moment. But it's only the fly that is in your mind. Killing the scene softly, RGV requests Amit Roy to then take his favourite shot - close up of Big B's facial expressions. 'Cut' says the director and off we go for lunch. Szechwan Chicken with Roti and curd was a perfect meal on a hot summer day and what better lunch than to have Ram Gopal Varma to give you company. We sat together in his vanity van discussing films, films and more films till the second shot was about to get ready. RGV rushes to the sets in time. He loves and respects time because I got to know from his well wishers that he has always finished his shoot early yet properly. Shot two goes under way with a dining table breakfast scene where Sudeep, Mr Bachchan and Nina are seated where Big B again has no dialogues. With nothing to say and get the scene perfect has become RGV's trademark. Talk about a team player. He puts everything he has into it. But as soon as the shot was in its second take, a child actor named Rahul gets hit on his head against the glass slide door which he thought was open. The crew got worried but more worried was Mr Bachchan. He walks up to the main door from the breakfast table, orders the ice and rubs it gently on Rahul's forehead. Crying in pain, the cute boy couldn't see the fun coming his way. In order to divert the attention of Rahul, he rubs the ice on his face and slowly into his tee. Cry turned into smiles and in a second into laughter for Rahul. Everyone including Ramu was present during the picture perfect moment when Rahul got his best picture clicked with Mr Bachchan before the pack up announcement was made.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 8 Apr 2009 | 12:55 pm It's swimming time for Bipasha - Oneindia

Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 8 Apr 2009 | 10:21 am A series of bizarre accidents on the sets of Owais Husain's filmEveryone, including the director Owais Husain (son of renowned artist M.F. Husain) who shot in Chandigarh last week for his directorial debut, has come back shaken. If there was a survey of the most accident-prone film ever made in India, Owais' film would qualify handsomely. ''You could say that again,'' the director laughs mirthlessly, his fractured hand tucked away in a sling. ''I didn't know I broke my wrist until it got swollen like a dolphin out of the water. I was painting on the brick walls of ruins in a broken-down home in Chandigarh when a wall caved in and I slipped to the ground. I continued working. But after a point the pain got to be too much. So I asked someone from the unit to take me to a doctor. He informed me there were several hairline fractures on my hand.'' Owais now moves around calling the shots with his right hand out of order and all wired from inside. ''For a painter, the worst fear is to realize his hand has been injured. My first thought after I hurt my hand was will be I be able to paint? Now a few days after the accident, I can move my fingers. So I guess in a couple of weeks my hand will be okay.'' Bizarrely this was Owais' second accident on location. The day before he fractured his hand, he bruised his back badly. Wincing in pain Owais laughs, ''That day when I expressed my fear to the doctor he laughed and told me not to worry. But the very next day I was back with a more serious injury and he looked more worried than me.'' Owais' lead pair has not been spared either. Sonal Chauhan burnt herself when she accidentally came too close to high-voltage arc lights in a crane shot. And her co-star Anurag Sinha fell off a horse and injured his back a couple of days before Owais's twin accidents. Shudders Owais, ''I only hope there are no further calamities waiting for us in this schedule of my film. All the effort has finally been worth it. I wanted to shoot my film in Punjab because I wanted a certain feeling of the characters being close to the soil. And I got that. But the experience has been a mixture of exhilaration and fear. I could make a film on what we've gone through during the making of my film in Chandigarh.''Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 8 Apr 2009 | 9:26 am SRK-Aamir: Our name is Khan - Times of India

The talented director of Aamir, Rajkumar Gupta's next film entitled No One Killed Jessica is actually based on the sensational Jessica Lal case. The model was gunned down in a restaurant on April 29, 1999. The director whose edgy hard-hitting drama Aamir swept the nation in 2008 intends to give the same gritty treatment to the Jessica Lal case which rocked the nation. Reluctant to shed light on the project, Gupta says, "I did approach Kareena Kapoor initially to play one of the two protagonists. But nothing more can be said about the casting right now. All I can say at this moment is that the film and its script which I've just completed is inspired by a headline that I saw in The Times Of India in 2006 which said, 'No One Killed Jessica'(when all the accused in the sensational case were acquitted). It immediately set me thinking. Over the years, as the case dragged on, that headline acquired immense ironical overtones." No One Killed Jessica will star two leading female performers in the age group of 27 and 30. A gritty bio-pic on Jessica Lal's murder is not the only surprise the Aamir director drops on us this week. He has also written the script for Barah Aana. Though Gupta is all for the way first-timer Raja Menon has directed his script, he admits he would film the script different. "I'd have made Barah Aana edgier, grittier and fast- paced. That's the treatment I had envisaged for the screenplay. Also it isn't clear in the film why Naseeruddin Shah's character doesn't speak. He just looks angry. The fact is the character has nothing more to say to the world. This aspect doesn't come across in the film." Also much as Gupta likes young Arjun Mathur as an actor, he thinks Mathur is a miscast as a Bihari waiter in Barah Aana. "I'd have cast someone like Deepak Dobriyal. But that's neither here nor there. Barah Aana is fine the way it is." Would Gupta write more scripts for other directors? "I don't know. Barah Aana was a commitment before I directed Aamir. Right now my concentration is on casting for No One Killed Jessica. I just hope I don't end up casting whoever is available. I need two very strong young actresses." The actresses will play Jessica and her sister who fought for justice on Jessica's behalf.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 7 Apr 2009 | 12:38 pm Shilpa Shetty on the cover of Cosmopolitan'Shilpa Shetty: She has got balls!' screams the headline of the latest issue of 'Cosmopolitan'.
