Game Review: Aa Dekhen Zara

The producers of Aa Dekhen Zara have left no stone unturned as far as the movie promotion is concerned. And in a trend which has been going for quite sometime now, they have launched a fun game, based on the theme of the movie, for the mobile platform. With the help of Hungama Mobile, which is popular in designing Bollywood games, the team has come up with a title which is sure to engulf you as much as the movie. The game is really simple to play. The theme of the game is 'Photographs'. It consists of 6 levels, each level containing 2 unique game plays with easy and hard difficulty options. In gameplay 1, you handle a mystical camera on your mobile screen and on the opposite side, you have a rectangular image. Capturing the corresponding images with the help of your camera in given time, wins the round. In gameplay 2, you'll get a jumbled image. Swapping and sliding the pieces to show the complete image, will win you the round. This mode requires a bit of intelligence because the developers have not made it that easy to complete the game. Every time you complete a challenge, you'll be rewarded a screenshot, taken right out of the movie. Your final aim is to unlock all the hidden images by clicking and sliding your way around the challenges thrown at you. The game however is not much exciting because after a while, you'll tend to get bored of the repetitive gameplay. Nevertheless, the game can be said to be a light mini-game, which one can play simply for a bit of fun. To download the game, sms ADZGM to 54646 Rating: 3/5

Asin appears in dual role as her second Hindi film gets ready to release

Download image as wallpaper There is good news for all Asin fans. After being seen in Ghajini, she would be seen in Dasavatharam which releases next Friday. Though the Tamil version was released worldwide in June last year, the dubbed Hindi version is arriving after a gap of nearly a year. Interestingly, Asin has a double role to play in the film. She plays a woman from both the 12th century as well as the 21st century. Incidentally, in both the roles, she plays a Brahmin woman. The film's USP is Kamal Hassan who plays as many as ten different roles in the film. Another female lead in the film is Mallika Sherawat. "Asin walked into a role which was originally meant for Vidya Balan", says an industry insider, "However, due to date issues, Vidya had to walk out of the project and Asin stepped in." He maintains that consenting to work in Dasavatharam really helped Asin's standing in the industry. "She gained a lot from the film since her performance was appreciated on a scale similar to that of the Tamil version of Ghajini. The Hindi version of Ghajini arrived only later (in December 2008) and since then her stocks have been on a rise." In the film, Asin plays the characters of Kothai Radha and Andaal, opposite Kamal Hassan from the 12th and 21st century respectively. The story of Dasavatharam revolves around a research scientist who loses a biological weapon of mass destruction in the United States of America. The weapon is also sought by an ex-CIA officer for his own use. This is when the scientist and the ex-CIA officer begin a cat and mouse chase to gain possession of the weapon. "The film is an out and out commercial affair and was made at a cost of close to Rs. 60 crores", says a trade expert from Chennai, "After its release, Dasavatharam became one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of Tamil cinema by breaking records across the globe. Moreover, majority of reviews were positive too about this film that traversed centuries." A film which has a running time of close to 3 hours, Dasavathaaram took close to 3 years to reach the finishing line after being in the making since 2005. One of the highlights of film was the much hyped soundtrack that was composed by Himesh Reshammiya. The film was released in Tamil and Telugu in June 2008 but Hindi version has taken quite some time to arrive. This time around too, it seems more out of chance than choice since producers v/s multiplexes strike has resulted in non-arrival of any new Hindi movies. This is why Dasavatharam is seeing a sudden release coming Friday. Well, it only works for Asin fans that were left asking for more ever since she made her Bollywood debut with Ghajini last year. Now with Asin being seen in a double role in Dasavatharam, it should only be double the excitement for the audience.

"Please stop comparing my film with Provoked"- Deepa Mehta

Deepa Mehta is fed up of being asked if her film Heaven On Earth is similar to Jagmohan Mundhra's Provoked. "I am tired of being asked how I feel about Provoked. How am I supposed to feel about it? There are so many love stories being made. Would you compare Saawariya with Jaane Tu …Ya Jaane Na? Just because my film is about domestic violence, it doesn't follow that our films have any similarity. Shakespeare has said there are only three stories. It's how you tell those stories that makes all the difference in the world. People should stop comparing my film to Provoked even without having seen it." Jagmohan Mundhra is far more tolerant of his film being compared with Deepa's. "I haven't seen Heaven On Earth . But I'd like to. As far as comparing Provoked with Heaven On Earth is concerned, I'm glad my film has set a benchmark for all films on domestic violence." Mundhra refuses to see domestic violence as formula for celluloid drama. "Certainly not! But the fear of being labelled exploitative should not stop a filmmaker from telling the story of what goes behind closed doors."

"If I'm told I can't fight the election, I'll continue to work with Amar Singhji" - ...

The Supreme Court verdict barring Sanjay Dutt from contesting elections came as a big blow to the actor and his supporters in the Samajwadi Party, particularly Amar Singh. Hours after the verdict, Sanjay Dutt was expected to fly to Delhi from Lucknow to discuss his course of action with his party allies. "I've seen too much in life to be rattled by this latest setback," Sanjay Dutt told a friend minutes after the honourable Supreme Court vetoed the actor's desire to contest the Lok Sabha elections. Dutt has now realized that discretion, restrain and transparency in public conduct are the keys to public acceptance. Says a very close friend, "It's very important for Sanjay to prove himself in politics, not only to clear his name and exonerate himself of his past records. But also because he wants to carry forward his parents' legacy as people of the masses ahead as much as his sister Priya. What hurt Sanjay was that some people close to him questioned his right to enter politics and sniggered at his capability to be a politician." After the court's verdict, a pall of gloom fell over Dutt and his close friends and associates. Though his wife Maanyata Dutt wasn't with him at the time of the verdict, his two non-film friends Bittu and Prashant were with Dutt. They tried their best to cheer up the crestfallen star who was pretty sure of a judgement in his favour. "But I'm a fighter. Life has made me so. I'll remain that way until the last moment. If I'm told I can't fight the election, that's still fine. I'll continue to work with Amar Singhji," Dutt told a close friend after the verdict. The verdict is no doubt a setback. And Sanjay Dutt was visibly upset about it. But he has decided to stay in Lucknow and continue to work with Amar Singh until his elections. "And even after the elections, Sanjay will be working with Amar Singhji. Whether he fights elections or not, Sanjay Dutt is into politics for good," says Sanjay's friend.

How r u? Nandita Das: Rushing around...but for next 40 mins I am totally with you. FMOTI: i am a big fan of urz...How was your first time directing exp? Nandita Das: Much more challenging than I had imagined...I have learnt a lot...It has pushed my boundaries like nothing else has....consuming but most of all very exciting. FMOTI: i am a big fan of urz..How was your first time directing exp? Nandita Das: Much more challenging than I had imagined...I have learnt a lot...It has pushed my boundaries like nothing else has....consuming but most of all very exciting. FMOTI: how did you think of the topic of your movie? Nandita Das: It had to do with everything that was happening around me...waking up to newspapers that were full of violence....the growing prejudice, conversations about identity that would get polarized into 'them and us'....that's why the first line in the film is 'This is a work of fiction based on thousand true stories'. Sadia: Hey Nandita Jee. I would just like to let you know that you are a brilliant actress. Your work is amazing! can we see you in future doing acting? Nandita Das: For sure Sadia...In fact I have already signed an exciting project but can't tell you more about that. Sadia: Hi..What Firaaq is all about? Nandita Das : Sadia...Firaaq is set a month after the 2002 Gujarat riots and its basically about human relationships that unfold over a span of 24 hours...It deals with the impact of violence on our lives but there is no obvious violence shown in the film. Arvind: hi maam, i saw ur movie it was very very good, didn't expect such good direction from u but u rocked! Nandita Das: arvind...thanks so much...with hardly any promotion I need the support of people like you to spread the words. Jijo: hi..Are you continue doing acting or will focus on direction solely? Nandita Das: why does one have to choose between this and that when one can do this and that? For sure...I'll do both but, as acting is so consuming I would like to give a good break between two directorial projects. Jijo: hi..Are you continue doing acting or will focus on direction solely? Nandita Das: why does one have to choose between this and that when one can do this and that? For sure...I'll do both but, as acting is so consuming I would like to give a good break between two directorial projects. Jijo: hi ...Are you satisfied over Slumdog Millionaire Oscar win? Nandita Das : jijo...much has been written about it...awards have a lot to do with the right time and place and the flavor of the season and finally it is always a subjective decision of a few people so I have never taken awards too seriously and it is upto each viewer to take from a film what they want to. Vigilant: How was your working experience in Ramchand Pakistani. I liked your performance very much as it was thoroughly character oriented. What's your take on the increasing nudity and kissing stuff in Indian movies instead of paying attention on quality script and acting? Nandita Das: thanks vigilant glad you liked RP...films are only a reflection of our society and we as audiences also have to create a demand and support different kind of films...also sexuality can be shown in a thought provoking intense way or can be trivialized and shown for titillation. Amogh: What went wrong...why didn't u do Deepa Mehta's Water? ...the movie was superb...it would have been great to have u in that movie!! Nandita Das: Amogh...this question is for Deepa...As you know I had shaved my head ...was 200% committed to the film and this would have completed my participation in the trilogy but it could be that they didn't want to take a chance with the problems that happened the first time around and therefore the cast and location was changed when they shot after 4 years. Amogh: Saw Firaaq a few days ago n loved the film...how was it directing an actor of the caliber of Naseeruddin Shah. Nandita Das: Amogh...While I deeply respect him and am honored that actors like him worked in my film, to be honest there is nothing to get over-awed...An actor-director relationship is a collaboration and the character emerges because of the experiences, the vision, the interpretations of both...I had a great time working with all my actors and I think they did too. Eetzz: What's the beauty secret of your flawless skin? Nandita Das: With all this stress...trust me Gurpreetzz it's not flawless. I have no time to indulge in beauty treatments and always have much better things to do. Thankfully!!! Gurpreetzz: Please share your special diet with us... Nandita Das: Sorry...dont ask me these questions because you'll be very disappointed. I love food and eat everything...though I do try to avoid deep fried stuff but that's because I dont even relish it. Gurpreetzz: When will you do movies with Mani Ratnam? Nandita Das : I have already done one Tamil film with Mani Ratnam...In fact I think its one of his best in the last few years ...Would love to work with him again but as an actor you are at the mercy of the directors approaching you so when you chat with him do ask him. Vigilant: how do you select your project? Nandita Das: Amogh....I choose a project on the basis of the script, director and the role and if all that works then you trust the judgment of the director for the casting. Gurpreetzz: Would you like to direct a comedy flick someday? Nandita Das: Sure...a good comedy is one of the toughest genres but I wouldn't want to do one that is regressive or defies your basic sensibilities. Irshad: Hello..what is ur fav genre? Nandita Das: Irshad...it would have to be Human Relationships stories- what they call drama. Rimp: i saw your song with the Pakistani singer. That was very nice. How was your experience playing a Punjabi girl? Nandita Das: Thanks rimp....I too enjoyed it ....I have done films in 10 different languages and here I didn't even have to speak any dialogue...So I guess it was easy enough to be Punjabi. Guest: did u learn the direction from any school? Nandita Das: No!!! I didn't even watch films to learn the craft, as I believe that a greatest inspiration is life and all exposures that one has had gets stored in any case sub consciously. Neil: Hi Nandita, what would you like viewers to take away from 'Firaaq'? Nandita Das : Neil....That Violence spares Nobody. And the one thing we can do is to choose our response to it. Firaaq is many ways is a mirror to our own lives, fears, prejudice, responses... So see it if you care about what's happening to the world. Guest: which film recently really touched you? Nandita Das: Haven't seen a film in a long while but the last film that I enjoyed was Chak De India but I have a long list of films that I am waiting to watch- Dev D and the list goes on. jas25: your fav holiday destination? Nandita Das: The world has so many lovely places ...why would I ever want to choose one...I love traveling and hope the exploration carries on. Gurpreetzz: Are you married? Nandita Das: I was...now happily single jas25: why you dont feature in Bollywood Masala film too oftenly? Nandita Das : Out of the 30 films I have done, at least 20 would bring a smile to my face for different reasons and I am basically not into 'favorites'...i think the fun of life is in variety. Jas25: what made u take up direction? Nandita Das: I feel its a great privilege and freedom to do what one really wants to do and I doing exactly that. Sadia: One of your biggest fans all they way from Canada. I stayed up especially to chat with you!!! Nandita Das : That's sweet Sadia but I hope you dont have to go to work tom early morning...I've been to the Toronto Film Festival a few times and unfortunately Toronto is my only exposure to Canada. Gurpreetzz: When is your birthday? Nandita Das: 7th November..... don't ask the year and don't trust the internet. Jas25: what's ur take on reality TV? wud u like to be part of it? Nandita Das: Sorry I dont watch TV...I feel almost offended as a human being, as a woman, as a viewer with many of the things that I see. FenilSeta: what is your fav scene in Firaaq? Nandita Das: wanted to tell the stories that I told...for me doing Firaaq has been a cathartic process. Guest13: What is ur take on women directors in Bollywood currently? Nandita Das: I am just happy that more women are coming into every field including films so that we can get a chance to see different perspectives. Guest13: What is ur take on women directors in Bollywood currently? Nandita Das: I am just happy that more women are coming into every field including films so that we can get a chance to see different perspectives. Moulin: Hey Nandita I am sure you must have spent a lot of time on research for Firaaq. So can you share some of those experiences and difficulties that faced during the making? Nandita Das: No...Definitely not in the way it exists. Raheel: what is your zodiac sign? do you believe in them? Nandita Das: Just told you my birthday...so it’s Scorpio...dont really believe in it but sometimes its fun asking jas25: which has been ur fav movie up to date that u have acted in? Nandita Das: Its tough for the mother to choose among her children ...Have lots of scenes that I still enjoy, watching but won’t want to pick out any favorites. Raheel1: The first and last scene of Firaaq still haunts me. Whose idea was it to start and end it like that and why? Nandita Das: raheel...i have basically written the story and had a co-writer on the script, Shuchi Kothari and together we structured the film. Of course the film evolves and changes when you shoot it and finally when you edit it but the fun of direction is that you can make all the choices. Nandita Das: It has been good fun chatting with all of you but now I gotto rush...Bye...Nandita
