Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 30 Mar 2009 | 4:08 pm Toolbox announces animation featurePune-based animation and visual effects studio Toolbox has started work on one of its major IPs, a 90-minute 3D animation feature, scheduled for post 2012 release. Tentatively titled as The Dream Run, the flick is currently in the pre-production stage. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Chetan Deshmukh, Head, Toolbox, shared, "We have finalized the script and are refining the first draft of the screenplay. We have also designed the characters and are now looking for dialogue writers who can add flavour to the script." "The look and feel of our movie will incorporate different styles of animation. Some of the ambience and environments have also been finalised," he informed. The movie, which is being worked on by close to 10 artists for a few hours every day, will be primarily in English and will be later dubbed in Hindi and other languages. "The product which we are working on is not only an India-centric but one that will also address a wider spectrum of audiences. Besides India, we will look at releasing the film internationally, primarily in UK." Budgeted at close to Rs10 crore, the initial funds for the movie are being contributed through internal accruals. The studio will look for financers when it reaches the production stage. Talking about the animation film market in India, Chetan said, "We have a good market for animation features in India but the studios, audience and distribution channels haven't matured enough as yet to embrace this business. Animation movies going on box-office don't compete with other animation features but with Hindi live-action feature films." "Animation has neither been a part of our culture, nor have we grown with it. If we compare ourselves to the West, the revenue model (here) is beyond the box-office. People opt for licensing and ancillary rights to generate the major chunk of revenues from their product," he concluded.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 30 Mar 2009 | 3:28 pm Sonam ready to bend rules for De Niro, Shah Rukh !Sonam Kapoor may be just two films old, but she is choosy about her roles and has drafted strict guidelines for herself to sign movies.Source: Zee News : Entertainment | 30 Mar 2009 | 12:22 pm When Imtiaz Ali met with Hrithik Roshan! The smash hit success of his flick `Jab We Met` has guaranteed Imtiaz Ali a top priority on every actor`s list.Source: Zee News : Entertainment | 30 Mar 2009 | 12:22 pm Kidman struck Arjun gifts Nicole a traditional Indian sari!Arjun Rampal is going all out spending lavishly to woo Hollywood beauty Nicole Kidman.Source: Zee News : Entertainment | 30 Mar 2009 | 12:22 pm Bruce Willis, Emma Heming `legally married`!Bruce Willis and model Emma Heming have enjoyed a second marriage ceremony in Beverly Hills in a bid to make their previous nuptials legal in United States.Source: Zee News : Entertainment | 30 Mar 2009 | 12:22 pm Jolie plans 7th, 8th babies—one adopted, one natural !Angelina Jolie is said to have told her pals that she is planning her seventh and eighth babies.Source: Zee News : Entertainment | 30 Mar 2009 | 12:22 pm Kelly Brook writhes on sand in a skimpy black bikini!Known for her wild antics, Kelly Brook lived up to her raunchy image as she went on to flaunt her perfectly toned beach bod in a skimpy black bikini.Source: Zee News : Entertainment | 30 Mar 2009 | 12:22 pm 8 X 10 Tasveer out of financial trouble - Oneindia

Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 30 Mar 2009 | 9:24 am Karan Johar to also make Public-Interest filmsThe entire music video from Karan Johar's Dharma Productions featuring young A-listers from Hollywood asking the young in India to vote was put together in two days flat. "And that included Salim's (of Salim-Suleiman) background music," said Karan proudly. On Thursday, stars beginning with Abhishek Bachchan and Karan Johar himself, trooped into the studio to have their say on camera. Karan was delighted. "I had to do nothing except pick up the phone and ask everyone to come and record their message for the young. I was surprised by how readily and quickly they took time off from their busy schedules for this public-interest broadcast." And now Karan Johar has discovered a new passion. He wants to now produce informative profit-free short films for television that would subscribe ways to achieve an improvement in the quality of our life. Karan Johar's entire music video urging the youngsters of the country to vote was put together in two days and considering it stars every 32-minus A-lister from Kareena Kapoor to Abhishek Bachchan, that's no mean achievement. "The credit for the music video must go to Imran Khan," says Karan Johar who has been shooting non-stop with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol for My Name Is Khan. "I had gone to meet Imran for a film when he brought up the idea of a video on voting. His enthusiasm rubbed off on me. I got together with Mukul Deora, called up my writer-friend Niranjan Iyenger to write the script and asked my Dostana director and friend Tarun Mansukhani to direct it. And we were ready." Karan will now be looking at other public-interest films where he can use his connections in Bollywood for purposes other than entertainment. "The vote-youth video made me realize the importance of reaching out to the public. Considering we're going through a global economic recession and other major problems it is very important for the young to be mobilized into casting their votes to elect correct leaders. Similarly there're other areas where I think my contacts could come in handy."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 30 Mar 2009 | 9:07 am Salman woos voters for Congress
Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 30 Mar 2009 | 9:05 am "Neetu came in Rann because the character changed" - Ram Gopal VarmaEven as Rann is currently being shot across Mumbai and Delhi, the film's director Ram Gopal Varma is incorporating changes in the script and cast members. As a result, Raima Sen has been shown the door while Neetu Chandra has stepped in as her replacement. The reason given? Raima didn't suit the part. Confirms Ram Gopal Varma, "The character that was originally conceived went through changes. As a result the present version doesn't suit Raima. This is why Neetu has been roped in." As per the original script, Raima was to play the part of Yasmin Hussain, an ex-model, who watches TV, reads gossip columns, and for most part, takes everything that is dished out to her, at face value. Someone who does not understand the intricacies of power games, she isn't quite clever but not really innocent either. However, with the characterization going through a change, it has to be seen how exactly Neetu is required to play her part. For Raima Sen though, an exit from a prestigious project like Rann couldn't have come at a worst time. She has been a part of five major flops in a row (Mere Khawon Mein Jo Aaye, C Kkompany, Mukhbiir, Manorama - Six Feet Under and Yatra) with only consolation in the form of Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd which had released two years ago. No wonder, she has been left shell shocked after the news of her being replaced by the film maker was broken to her. As for Neetu Chandra, an entry into a big project like Rann couldn't have come at a better time. While she was unavailable for comment, an industry follower comments that being a part of Rann is indeed a big moment for her. "She is a relatively new entrant but look at the film makers she has managed to work with in such a short duration", he says, "Having names like Madhur Bhandarkar (Traffic Signal), Priyadarshan (Garam Masala), Dibakar Banerjee (Oye Lucky Lucky Oye), Rahul Dholakia (Mumbai Cutting) and Vipul Shah (untitled) in your profile is not a small deal." With Rann, Neetu makes further progress in the big league as she gets to rub shoulders with the likes of Amitabh Bachchan in the film. Moreover, yet again she will be a part of a film that stars Parsh Rawal in a major role. Earlier, Neetu and Paresh Rawal have come together in Garam Masala, One Two Three, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye while their Kusar Prasad Ka Bhoot will be released as well. Now in Rann, she has a major role to play which also includes a sensual dance number that would require liberal doses of skin show. Though reports are yet to be confirmed, this very fact is said to be the reason behind her entry and Raima's ouster from the biggie. Well, if Neetu's recent photo shoots are anything to go by; one can definitely expect her to sizzle the screen in Rann. Even before signing for Rann, Neetu had made her stand clear when it came to exposing for screen. "I have worn swimsuit in my very first film [Garam Masala] so I don't consider skin show as a big deal", she had said, "I am quite comfortable with my body and I believe that for a woman, her curves and curls should be in the right place. I can be versatile as required by the situation & the setting and can get into the skin of any character that film makers could think of. If required, I can play a girl next door and give me a platform and I would be your sexy next door girl." In this regard, Ram Gopal Varma has indeed got his woman for Rann where Neetu's character does demand sensuous overtones. Now it has to be seen whether with Rann, Neetu does manage to justify the confidence that has been shown in her by the film maker. Also starring Ritesh Deshmukh, Gul Panag, Mohnish Behl, Sudeep, Rajat Kapoor and Rajpal Yadav as the principal protagonists, Rann is a Madhu Ghajini Mantena production and is expected to arrive before the close of 2009.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 30 Mar 2009 | 9:03 am Madonna in Malawi to appear before judge - Indian Express

Source: Google News India - Entertainment | 30 Mar 2009 | 7:53 am Director Anthony D'Souza on his action bonanza BlueFirst-time filmmaker Anthony D'Souza plumbs the depths of oceans off Bahamas for his action bonanza Blue. Have you finally wrapped up Blue? When is it releasing? We are nearly through with the shoot. I am headed for Bangkok with Lara Dutta for two days' work and then I need eight more days to shoot Katrina Kaif's song. Blue is scheduled to be released on August 13. Where did you find this deep-sea adventure, for it certainly is an alien concept here in India? I have always been fascinated by water and then I wanted to make a "never-seen-before" film - so it had to be a film shot in the ocean. I had to find a fresh setting and what better than an action adventure with real sharks, sting-rays and eels to the menacing great whites? Sounds scary! How did you protect your stellar cast from the oceanic wild life? Wild animals pose no danger by themselves, unless provoked. In our case, we took ample precautions to ensure the safety of the cast and crew. There have been no injuries or mishaps. So which was the most spectacular and the most menacing of the oceanic beasts you shot with? I chose to shoot off Bahamas because the kind of sharks that I wanted are only found there. We have shot with real sharks - hammer-heads, reef sharks, great whites, manta rays and eels. While reef sharks are the gentlest and easiest to shoot with, the great whites that measure 15 to 18 feet are the most menacing and also the most spectacular. Tipped to be the most expensive Indian film ever made with a whopping budget of Rs 100 crore, what has been the most expensive aspect of Blue? I still won't be able to give out the budget of the film as I am still shooting. The most expensive part of the film was the execution and implementation of action. We shot for 60 days in deep sea off Bahama Islands - of these, 15 days were for rehearsals and 45 days for the actual shoot. For the first time, the Indian audience will be treated to 25-30 minutes of underwater adventure. Our underwater DOP Pete Zuccarini is the man who shot Pirates Of The Caribbean, so the filming is flawless and spectacular. I hope I have brought the audience entertainment worth their money. How did you manage to find funding for this extravagant adventure as your first film? Also how did you convince Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt to be a part of it? I approached Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. with my script and they liked it right from the outset. My ad-films and music videos on the resume also worked well, I guess. I met Mr Dutt, Akshay and Zayed Khan, narrated them the script after which they were on. Really, I think that I am most fortunate. It must have something to do with my parents' blessings because I am not much of a religious guy. Any particular reason for casting middle-aged heroes in this seemingly-youthful deep- sea adventure? Who's the best swimmer from the cast? Blue is about betrayal and a treasure-hunt. This is a film in which the characters are playing their age - Mr Dutt, Akshay, Zayed, Rahul Dev and Kabir Bedi in a guest appearance. Mr Dutt, who has a lung problem and is forbidden by the doctors to swim, insisted on doing each and every stunt himself. Akshay is ever-ready for any challenge and Zayed has been a swimmer ever since he can remember. Lara, on the other hand, trained for five months for the underwater action. But the best swimmer title goes hands down to Zayed Khan! How did you handle the ego tussle of Sanjay Dutt and Akshay Kumar? On the sets and off it, the two stars are like brothers. We used to read all those crappy reports in the media and laugh at those together. Who's the heroine of the film - Lara or Katrina? Are you including an additional song in the film to assuage Katrina? Lara is the heroine of Blue and she plays Mr Dutt's girlfriend and the film is based on their love story. Katrina Kaif, paired opposite Zayed, has a guest appearance in the film. Katrina's song is a part of the script and is in the last portion of the film. Alright, so why cast Kylie Minogue? Apart from the hype, how does she help the film? I have been a great fan of Kylie's. She has one song and some scenes in the film. She shot for eight days and she has some humorous and dramatic scenes with the entire cast. I found her to be very professional and down-to-earth. She's a director's actor. A R Rahman's music is likely to be a big high for the film. What kind of music have you come up with? We have seven songs in the film and A R Rahman's music this time is certainly not Indian, it's very Western. Abbas Tyrewala and Mayur Puri have penned the lyrics. Is John Abraham a part of your next venture? My next film is a three-hero action film, also for Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision. John Abraham is certainly a part of it and I am hoping to cast Sonal Chauhan opposite him.
