24: No, You Don’t Know Jack

The general consensus about this season is that, although it doesn’t hold up to some of the great seasons of the past, it’s a welcome improvement over the last one. This episode may up the ante: It's probably the best one since the season five finale, when Jean Smart took down the President and Jack Bauer was abducted by the Chinese. It’s amazing to think that this show can still shock, but we are legitimately stunned. Maybe we’re gullible. Or maybe we’re just enjoying the show enough to believe again. To the Absurd-o-Meter!

3. Oh God, Morris is back. We thought the show had forgotten about the insufferable Morris O’Brien, Chloe’s Brit nerd husband who we so strongly associate with the awful season six so much that we can hardly look at him. He returns, ostensibly, to check in on his wife — who’s in custody for helping Jack again — but because he’s also a computer genius, he gets put to work tracking down an email Agent Walker sent to Jack. At the end, he’s reunited with Chloe, goes home to his kid and, hopefully, is never heard from again. Absurdity Factor: 3

2. It was Blackwater all along. Well, not Blackwater (the shady private military firm hired by the government to provide “security” in Iraq): “Starkwood.” It’s beginning to look like Jon Voight is the evil mastermind behind the firm, which, sort of like the Terminator machines, has become self-aware and is intent on taking control of those who created it. They’re the ones who have been working with General Juma and Sengala, the ones who framed Jack and who set up the attack on the White House. (And they're working on the next one, a “biological attack.”) Senator Meyer — the same lawmaker trying to put Jack away for torturing everybody — wanted to shut them down, and now they’re getting revenge. Absurdity Factor: 5

1. Jack has a chance … nope, no he doesn’t. A major complaint of some folks (though not us) has been that Jack is no longer a character: He’s a plot device. (One man’s plot device is another man’s indestructible American ass-kicking force.) But now Jack has a chance to change. Senator Meyer (who, granted, was held hostage in his own home by Jack) sits down to talk to Jack about torture, the decisions he’s had to make, and whether or not it’s worth it to destroy the principles a nation stands for in order to protect them. He’s rational, sympathetic and, in a nice touch, actually warm to Jack.

And Jack actually listens. He believes he can be redeemed. He wants to love his country the way Senator Meyer loves it, to give his country a chance to allow its ideals to win out. Jack grows as a character, and Senator Meyer is not served up as a punchline, but as a coherent voice of American values. Jack decides to allow Senator Meyer to turn him over to the authorities, and trust the system to run its course. It’s a strange moment when the Senator, giving Jack the chance at a new life, opens the door to the policeman outside … and WHAM, it’s not a policeman at all, but an assassin from Starkwood! He kills Senator Meyer and any hope Jack ever had. We thought we had given up on Jack. Jack thought he had given up on Jack. And, with the Senator’s death, we’re both right. This season’s been good enough so far, though, that, for a second, we thought we weren’t giving up on him at all. Absurdity Factor: 8

Mary-Kate Olsen Butters Up the Fashion Media

Gawker's caption for this, truly awesomely, is "Shortney Love."

Meg Whitman tells Fortune that she’d spend $50 million of her own money to beat out Arnold Schwarzenegger as California’s next governor. Nancy Pelosi sang along to “Aquarius” and “Let the Sun Shine In” at Broadway’s revival of Hair, while Fergie and Josh Duhamel caught a Saturday-night show of Fuerzabruta: Look Up. Chelsea Clinton, Ted Danson, and Mary Steenburgen danced up a storm at Elephant on East First Street for J.Crew’s Alix Berger’s birthday.

Fashionistas are whispering that Valentino, who supposedly retired two years ago (and was then fined $44 million for tax evasion), has secretly been designing for recent collections. Mary-Kate Olsen showed up at Yves Saint Laurent’s Metropolitan Opera Gala with handsome New York Times T magazine writer Alex Hawgood, but she says they’re just friends, and Mel Gibson was caught kissing a woman who was not his wife in Costa Rica.

Paula and Simon had better watch who they talk to. An American Idol insider is blabbing that the show’s judges and producers have already selected the final four contestants, despite the fact that there are still eleven rock-star wannabes in the running. Madonna’s stylist claims the star will join Britney Spears’s Circus stage during her March 23 show in NYC, and Jessica Simpson forgot the words to her own songs.

Will Arnett is working on a new comedy for Fox with Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz. Andy Samberg is next up to host the MTV Movie Awards, set to air on May 31. Time Warner’s Jeff Bewkes power-lunched with Ron Meyer, the head of NBC Universal, at Michael’s the other day. Jon Stewart’s older brother, head of U.S. Markets & Global Technology at NYSE Euronext, may have helped him clobber Mad Money’s Jim Cramer in last week’s showdown. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kevin Connolly tore up the dance floor at Mr. West. Jake Gyllenhaal sweated out his vinyasa flow at Venice, California’s Yas yoga studio, ripping off his "Facebook Addict" T-shirt, much to the delight of his svelte female classmates.

And in honor of St. Patty’s day, Ancestry.com calculates that O'bama is 3.1 percent Irish.

J.J. Abrams’s Bold Plan to Save Print

With newspapers dying and national attention spans shrinking quickly to sizes no larger than 140-character Tweets, can anyone save print? Maybe! Last year, avid reader J.J. Abrams bought the rights to "Mystery on Fifth Avenue," a New York Times story about a Manhattan apartment with an interior designed as an elaborate puzzle. And now, Variety reports that Abrams's production company Bad Robot will adapt "The Untold Story of the World's Biggest Diamond Heist," an article in April's Wired magazine about the incredible exploits of an Italian thief and the $100 million robbery he almost got away with. Both stories are great reads and they sound like they'll make terrific movies. We applaud Abrams for saving journalism and think this is way more creative than that time he remade Godzilla.

Review: 'HAWK' takes fresh approaches to combat (AP)

In this computer game image released by Microsoft, a scene from 'Halo Wars,' is shown. (AP Photo/Microsoft)AP - Video-game combat has come a long way since the turn of the century. In the 1990s, 3D shooters like "Doom" and "Half-Life" were aimed at the PC audience, with the occasional gem (like "Goldeneye 007") popping up on a console. All that changed in 2001 with the release of Microsoft's "Halo," which became the Xbox's flagship game.

Andrew Sorkin Tells It Like It Is About AIG

We're fans of Times wunderkind Andrew Ross Sorkin. Since he started writing for the paper in high school, he has built himself an admirable career based on sound reporting and thoughtful, articulate writing. Plus, he seems like a nice dude. But occasionally, as the economic crisis has raged, his DealBook column has taken on an awesome fed-up tone, like Sorkin — tie loosened, hair ruffled — is sick of all the bullshit and he's going to tell it to you straight. We love these times, because it seems like dude is finally having a little fun and, more, because it usually means he is about to posit something that is kind of wrong. Which is what he did today when he argued that everyone should suck it up and let AIG have their bonuses.

"It sure does sting," he writes. "A staggering $165 million — for employees of a company that nearly took down the financial system. And heck, we, the taxpayers, own nearly 80 percent of A.I.G." But then he breaks it down.

A.I.G. employees concocted complex derivatives that then wormed their way through the global financial system. If they leave — the buzz on Wall Street is that some have, and more are ready to — they might simply turn around and trade against A.I.G.'s book. Why not? They know how bad it is. They built it.

What now? Is that a secret? We're calling our brokers now and finding out how to trade against AIG's book! Except, obviously, we don't have a broker. And, obviously, we all know AIG is bad. And, obviously, the government is not — we hope — going to pay out these bonuses for fear that some of the "talent" responsible for purchasing credit default swaps might leave their jobs and start working against them. Because rewarding such people is exactly what you wouldn't want to do if you were trying to rebuild the system and change the culture of Wall Street. Now, Sorks, get some rest, for God's sake.

Catherine Hardwicke Trades Vampires for Genetically Engineered Human-Bird Hybrids

Bird Parts vs. Wolf Parts: Just to show everyone how over this whole Twilight thing she is, Catherine Hardwicke is in talks to direct James Patterson’s Maximum Ride, an altogether different young-adult fantasy title with franchise potential. The series concerns the battle between a group of part-bird-part-human teens called the Flock and their enemies, the part-human-part-wolf crew the Erasers. This sounds even dumber than Twilight, meaning it’ll probably make twice as much money. [HR]

We Got the Beats: Jesse Eisenberg is set to play Allen Ginsberg in Beat-generation flick Kill Your Darlings. Chris Evans will play Jack Kerouac and Ben Whishaw will play Lucien Carr, whose killing of David Kammerer will play a central part in the film. The William S. Burroughs role hasn’t been slotted yet, meaning there’s plenty of time for production team Killer Films to pull off more questionable casting. [Variety]

Mao's Gonna Be Ticked Off: Chow Yun Fat will play Confucius in a biopic backed by the Chinese government, slated for this year in order to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the People's Republic and Confucius' 2,560th birthday. This is part of a sharp governmental shift towards celebrating Confucius, who was condemned by Mao. Quick question: What is official Chinese government policy on Mark Wahlberg? [Variety]

Ledger Videos: Two music videos that Heath Ledger directed will be released this year: a clip for “King Rat,” a bonus track off Modest Mouse’s We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, animated by Daniel Auber, a member of Ledger's art collective the Massive; and one for “Quicksand,” a David Bowie cover done by Grace Woodroofe to promote her Ben Harper–produced debut album. [Billboard]

Together Through Bob: Bob Dylan’s previously announced new album now has a name — Together Through Life — and an official release date (April 28). In an interview posted on his site, Dylan explains how the album was influenced by fifties Chess records and how the new music "sticks in your head like a toothache." Awesome! [Billboard]

Gossip Girl Changes the Seasons for Us

Like a crocus poking out of the late-winter snow, last night's new episode of Gossip Girl was a welcome arrival to the cold and barren television landscape. As its petals slowly unfolded, it stirred the life that has lain dormant inside our souls since the show went on unexpected hiatus in February, and gave us a glimpse of colorful spring ahead. And how colorful it was! Last night's plot — the Constance Billard/St. Jude performance of The Age of Innocence — required everyone be dressed in ridiculous costumes (everyone except Jenny, Chuck, and Vanessa, who were not in the play, but who, let's face it, always wear ridiculous costumes). Blair was tragic and noble in black, while Serena was luminous in white, her creamy breasts nestled like eggs in the feathered Easter basket of her dress. Nelly Yuki was forced to wear a fat suit to play Mrs. Manson Mingott, and when Blair spat at her, "My problem is a two-faced, four-eyed devious little snipe in a fat suit!" it was like the first balmy spring breeze blew across our faces.

But it didn't last. Gossip Girl's plot, like the weather, is unpredictable, and while one moment we were basking the sun, we were soon boiling hot. Then the weather changed again, the sweat congealed on our forehead, and suddenly we were freezing in our unseasonable clothes, holding desperately to our arms and trying to keep warm.

(Meanwhile, shout-out to episode writer Jessica Queller for making her namesake, Headmistress Queller, a key element of the episode! And also shout-out to Charles Isherwood, who correctly predicted that his acting was so bad they would have to film other people's reactions while he was talking and then lay in the dialogue later, Hills-style. Don't worry, Charles, we would have been dazzled by Julian's beauty also — and we, like you, would have immediately detected whose team he was playing for.)

More Realistic Than a Gay Drama Teacher With Stubble and a Blazer With the Sleeves Rolled Up:
• "I should have gone with mercury poisoning," Nate says, of a possible excuse to get out of the show. Plus 2 for timeliness, even though the show has been on hiatus for approximately one century.
• We believe that the girls in the cast would wear Maybelline New York. But only in a play, as pancake stage makeup. Plus 1. Sometimes you have to try to look like a cheap clown.
• Gossip Girl herself says: "Before there was Gossip Girl, there was Edith Wharton." Plus 1, because of course GG would say that. And of course Edith Wharton would subsequently spin in her grave.
• Dorota trying on the extensions? Plus 1.
• Blair: "Aren't you so tired of brooding artists?"
Serena: "Well, he DOES brood in the sexiest way." Plus 2, because oh God, the brooding totally blinds so many high-school girls to the gayness. It's how Hollywood exists.
• Dorota and Penelope adjusting their maid outfits together wasn't particularly realistic, but it was a lovely filmic moment. No points.
Park Avenue Winter. Nice choice. Plus only 1, because it's not suddenly the only restaurant in the city.
• Who is this fussy stage manager? We have never before seen her at school. Oh, wait — stage managers are always that girl you've never seen before at school. Plus 5 .
• Rachel's too-tight, too-short Banana Republic outfits are atrocious, offensive, inappropriate, and totally realistic throughout this whole episode Plus 10.
• Serena: "Yeah, Bette Davis. I love her eyes, her hair is Harlow gold ... " We never do this, but in the idiom of drama nerds everywhere: Snaps, Serena. Snaps. Plus 4.
• We love that Vanessa recognizes that Julian is a douche. And that she, in turn, is a douche. Plus 3.
• Serena's brain malfunctions from the overstimulation of talking to Julian and listening to Vanessa inside the earpiece. "It's just sometimes that my thoughts come so fast that I get confused," she says. Plus 2.
• Carter drops that he met "Elle" when he "rolled into Apothéke" the night before. Plus 1 because that's exactly where that character would hang out.
• Julian says exactly what we've always wanted to say to Nate: "The characters in this play are smoldering tempests of emotion! You're as empty as the Federal Reserve." Plus 5. If we were Chace Crawford, we'd be wondering if the writers wrote that line in a pointed way and this was their passive-aggressive, play-within-a-play way of talking to us. Only we wouldn't. Because we'd be Chace Crawford and our heads would be filled with sunshine and tumbling kittens and the occasional chirping of birds.
• During the performance, several people in the audience appear to be playing with their cell phones. Plus 3.
• "I hate pretentious asshats who try to steal other people's girlfriends." Nate used the word "asshat!" Plus 2. And then "dilettante!" Plus 1. No, wait, minus 1.
• Rachel would totally have that trashy charm bracelet. It's not from Tiffany, so we can't even contemplate who may have made it. It would confuse the parakeets pecking at shiny things who operate our minds. Plus 2.
• Nate watches The Age of Innocence and gasps to Vanessa, "It's heartbreaking." He was just in the play. Plus 4, because remember, he's a pothead. Or, well, don't remember. You know what we mean.
• Dorota's bathrobe! Plus 1, because you know she was sitting in Blair's bed reading her diary and trying on her headbands just before Chuck came into the apartment.

Faker Than Chuck Pleading. To Anyone:
• Blair wouldn't refer to May as "Winona." She'd be too much of a snob. In fact, she wouldn't be in this play to begin with — she knows she's stiff and wooden onstage. Minus 3.
• Not to be sticklers, but Nelly Yuki can't get into Yale early like a month after everybody. Minus 3.
• Also, in reality, colleges don't have such rigid, one-person-per-school rules. Minus 1.
• "Yale considers 'Hazing a Faculty Member' a very serious offense." We didn't realize there was like a name for inviting someone to the opera at the wrong time. Minus 2, because, yeah, there isn't.
• Penelope wouldn't have the balls to call Blair an "inbred legacy." Her dad is a financier, she knows to hedge her bets better than that. Minus 2.
Minus 20 for the resurgence of the "Elle" plotline. WHY IS THIS STILL GOING?? This is worse than the recession. Issues we have right off the bat include but are not limited to the following:
(a) Chuck muttering, "I know you're in some kind of trouble" to Elle in front of Carter Baizen ….
(b) … who does not acknowledge this completely weird behavior.
(c) Elle: "I've been bathing like the French in restaurant bathrooms all week." First of all, no she hasn't, because she clearly just had a blowout. Second, who in this day and age other than maybe our grandmother would say, "Bathing like the French?"
(d) Elle: "I know things about these men that would destroy them." Such as what? That they have a preference for anal? A penis that tilts to the left? A yen for tall thin blonde girls? This is ridiculous.
(e) Also, the woman who plays Elle (whose main previous acting credit is 50 episodes of Wicked, Wicked Games, by the way) is an insanely bad actress. Really, it's over the top. We enjoyed the performance of the mounted bass in the McDonald's Filet-o-Fish commercial far more. (Seriously, that commercial makes us laugh. Plus 1.)
• Oh, one more thing. When Chuck said, "How do you feel about Brazil?" to Elle, we assumed he was making some kind of bikini-wax reference. But no. It seemed he was actually talking about taking Elle to Brazil. Minus 2 for our disappointment.
• Why is Rufus at the invited dress? Minus 2. And why would Jenny not grab the note from Rachel right away and say, "DAD, that's PRIVATE!" Teenage girls are programmed to do that automatically, aren't they? Minus 2.
• Dan's handwriting on the note was once again par example of a perfect teenage boy scrawl. But we will not let that distract us from the following glaring issues with this whole scenario, beginning with: Where would he have gotten that ridiculous stationery? Minus 1. And why was he writing her a note in the first place? Even if we buy into the idea that they haven't communicated since their Forbidden Bone, what with Rachel getting her job back and being told to stay away from Dan, why didn't he just send a text? Minus 5. It's not like Headmistress Queller has set up a tap on their cell phones. That's the whole point with this show, the texting. Also, he already knows where she lives, so her leaving him a key when knocking would have sufficed doesn't really make sense. Minus 3.
• Unless! Unless Rachel, as a woman of a certain age, had seen Varsity Blues and was planning on dressing up in a whipped-cream bikini for her high-school suitor. Then she would have been unable to answer the door! Which would make the key make sense. But she wasn't: When Rufus got there, she was lighting tapered candles like Mrs. Havisham or something. Minus 3.
• And why would Rufus would take the key and actually unlock her door with it, anyway? Wouldn't he be worried about finding her naked and wearing a whipped-cream bikini? Minus 2.
• Oh, no, no, no. The homo-tastic but destitute drama teacher would never "grab the check." Minus 3.
• Gossip Girl: "Don't worry, B, when God closes a door, he opens a play." No. Just, no. Minus 1.
• The theater costume closet is a great place to have illicit, Titanic-tuxedo-style, hand-kissing, teacher-on-student monkey sex at nearly any time during the school year. Except during the senior class play. Nobody walked in on them? Not even Julian and the 17-year-old assistant director when they were "looking for sequins"? Minus 2.
• Haven't the faculty (even adjuncts) at this school been lectured enough not to do things like ask students to text them their home addresses? Minus only 3, because clearly Julian wouldn't even think this was a problem, as he is practically moved to nausea by Serena's fantastic funbags.
• Blair: "I'm an actress. No, I'm a seagull!" Holy crap. Jessica Queller was clearly a double drama major in college. As in, drama and DRA-ma. Minus 2.
• How could Serena think only two people know about the press release that went out when Serena got into Yale? It was a press release. Wouldn't a lot of people know about it? Minus 1.
• When Nate interrupts the play to freak out and everyone starts screaming about their real-life dramas onstage, Jessica's husband hit pause and said, "I predict that Christopher Isherwood's going to say he loves the postmodern twist in the second act." And this is a man who failed to predict the ending to Marley & Me. Minus 4 We have to agree with Isherwood's assessment of his appearance. It was embarrassing. Although it wasn’t his performance — he was actually totally good! — it was his lines.
• Similarly, a 7-year-old could have seen the plot twist with "Elle" and Carter Baizen coming a mile away. Chuck is a master of deception! No way would he believe that an actual whore whose job was to have sex for money would fall in love with and run away with him. That Chuck would expect her to behave any differently is laughable. Minus 10. We liked it better when he was infallible. Infallibly evil.

Total

Real 49.
Fake 60.

This week's Reality Index was capsized by the weight of the wooden Elle plotline. Without it, it might have been a pretty strong showing for real — despite the fact that nobody noticed the drama teacher was gay for the entire episode. As always, add your comments and observations in the comments, and we'll tally up our favorite ones at the end of the week.

Even SCI-FI Channel Embarrassed To Admit It Watches SCI-FI Channel; Changes Name To “Syfy”

SyfyThe SCI-FI channel is officially changing its name to "Syfy" in an attempt to alienate its current fans while also failing to attract a broader audience. I can only imagine one possible reason for this seemingly pointless and impractical decision, which I will illustrate via the following hypothetical situation that definitely occurred: [NIGHTCLUB ON EAST 57th ST, MANHATTAN - FRIDAY, 1:30 a.m.] SCI-FI EXECUTIVE: Hey there - can the Executive VP of a television station buy you a drink? 23-YEAR-OLD ASPIRING MODEL: Sure. SCI-FI EXECUTIVE: The wife's not a big fan of me coming to the city on weekends, but us high-up tv executives have to work long hours, you know? Hahaha...Plus I wouldn't want to leave my apartment on Central Park West empty for the weekend... 23-YEAR-OLD ASPIRING MODEL: So what network do you work for? SCI-FI EXECUTIVE: One drink comin' right up! Sooooo what are you, a model or something? We're always looking for attractive young individuals on the tv station that I run. 23-YEAR-OLD ASPIRING MODEL: What station do you run? SCI-FI EXECUTIVE: What's that? Tough to hear in here - with all this, you know, music. So have you ever considered acting? Cause if you have, I'm definitely the guy to talk to, being a tv executive and all... 23-YEAR-OLD ASPIRING MODEL: For what tv station? SCI-FI EXECUTIVE: That's right, a tv station. 23-YEAR-OLD ASPIRING MODEL: No, I said what tv station? SCI-FI EXECUTIVE: Ohhhhh, what tv station, hahaha. Good question. Well, have you ever heard of a little company called "Universal"? 23-YEAR-OLD ASPIRING MODEL: You work for Universal pictures?? SCI-FI EXECUTIVE: No... Well, yes and no. I work for, um...[MUMBLES NON-WORDS] 23-YEAR-OLD ASPIRING MODEL: What was that? SCI-FI EXECUTIVE: The SCI-FI Channel. 23-YEAR-OLD ASPIRING MODEL: The what channel? SCI-FI EXECUTIVE: The SCI-FI Channel. But seriously, we're a lot more than SCI-FI, really, we're a legitimate basic cable network that provides quality creative programming and isn't just limited to-- 23-YEAR-OLD ASPIRING MODEL: Hey, I just remembered I have some friends waiting for me that I should probably go meet - thanks again for the drink! [LEAVES] [MONDAY MORNING - SCI-FI EXECUTIVE BARGES INTO HIS CO-WORKER'S OFFICE] SCI-FI EXECUTIVE: Dude - we have to change the name of this frickin' network. SCI-FI EXECUTIVE 2: I don't know, we've been the SCI-FI Channel for sixteen years now, plus we just enjoyed our highest-rated year of programming ever, and after the massive success of Battlestar surely our future projects can-- SCI-FI EXECUTIVE: As long as we're "SCI-FI," I can never use my job title to cheat on my wife, and I'm sick of it. Change the name of the goddamn channel now. SCI-FI EXECUTIVE 2: Ok, ok...I'll throw together a press release, and make sure to include the words "imagination," "brand," "broaden," and "cultivate a distinct point of view." SCI-FI EXECUTIVE: Yeah whatever. Just let me know when it's done so I can go grab some p*ssy. SCI-FI EXECUTIVE 2: Hey, you're the Dungeon Master. SCI-FI EXECUTIVE: From now on it's "boss."

New Bond Girl Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston is being considered for a role in the next James Bond film.

The 40-year-old actress - who recently expressed an interest in appearing in the British spy film franchise - is set to be offered a screen test for the follow up to 'Quantum of Solace' which will star Daniel Craig as James Bond.

Jennifer was speaking to Daniel and his girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell and they seemed to be getting on like a house on fire. They looked like old friends and would make a gorgeous pairing on the big screen.

A source at EON, the production company which makes the James Bond films, said: "Jennifer has all the qualities we are looking for in a Bond girl. She has to be beautiful but she also needs to have brains.

Jennifer previously said of her Bond aspirations: "I get offered funny, quirky, pretty roles. But I'd love to do an action movie. James Bond - glamour. Daniel Craig. Sh*t-loads of fun."

Rihanna To Star In Bodyguard Movie

Rihanna is to star in a remake of 'The Bodyguard'.

The 21-year-old pop star - whose boyfriend Chris Brown has been charged with felony assault and making criminal threats following his alleged assault on her - has reportedly been looking at various scripts in New York, including a remake of the hit 90s film which starred Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner.

Before the situation with Chris, Rihanna was getting a lot of scripts. She has been wanting to do movies for a while now.
If the film goes ahead, Rihanna's character will be a young and sexy take
A source told the New York Daily News newspaper: "Before the situation with Chris, Rihanna was getting a lot of scripts. She has been wanting to do movies for a while now."

If the film goes ahead, Rihanna's character will be a "young and sexy take" on the popstar previously played by Whitney.

The Barbados-born beauty will star alongside 'GI Joe' actor Channing Tatum who will play her on-screen love interest.

Rihanna is also believed to be considering working on a 'Charlie's Angels' sequel and a film project with Justin Timberlake.

The 'Umbrella' singer is currently easing herself back into work following Chris' arrest.

Meanwhile, Rihanna has been spotted enjoying herself with friends following the alleged attack.

On Friday night (13.03.09) Rihanna joined mentor Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce Knowles for dinner at New York restaurant Spotted Pig. The following evening (14.03.09) she relaxed with friends at eatery Da Silvano.

A source said: "Rihanna was dining with five friends and a security guard. It was a bit odd - she was wearing sunglasses inside at 11pm - like that was going to stop people from noticing her! But you know, she really looked good. She seemed happy - like she's finally healing."

Name Thief Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani stole her son Zuma's name from her No Doubt bandmate.

The 'Wind It Up' singer - who has another son Kingston James McGregor, two, with her husband Gavin Rossdale - wanted a "quirky" name for her six-month-old child and got the idea of Zuma from her bandmate Tom Dumont's wife Mieke.

She said: "I kind of stole it from him. I didn't steal it, I mean his wife didn't want it. It was just one of those things that just happened. I just wanted Zuma to have a little bit of a quirky name."

The unusual name came up when Gwen was discussing possible baby names with Mieke - who was pregnant at the same time.

Zuma was mentioned because Zuma Beach, California, is close to where Gwen and Gavin live.

Despite doting on her little boys, the 39-year-old popstar has admitted she misses the laidback lifestyle of being on tour.

She told radio show 'Mojo in the Morning': "Kingston has a really big opinion about what we do, so we'll figure it out. We'll pretty much be going to all the zoos and different places on our days off. But some days I miss the old selfish touring days where you just sleep all day, but those days are gone. I just need to accept it!"
