Source: Google News India - Entertainment | 14 Mar 2009 | 1:15 pm Manmohan Shetty's iRock to release two graphic novelsMumbai-based media ideation, film development and production company iRock Media is working on two graphic novels in the horror genre as part of their overall film genre development strategy. One of the novels, Bollywood of the Dead is expected to be ready by April and will be the first product from the iRock basket. Talking to Bollywood Hungama, iRock CEO Sidhartha Jain said, "These are Indian graphic novels for Indian audiences. More than people who read graphic novels, we are targeting the ones who have read comics when they were kids & haven't caught onto the western graphic novels." Bollywood of the Dead is currently in production and will be published before the release of iRock's first live-action and vfx-sfx film Shaadi of the Dead. "The scripts (for the graphic novels) have been finalized and we are currently in the design stage. We are also talking to publishers and a lot of them are interested because the space for Indian graphic novels is increasing," said Sidhartha. The graphic novels' story will be different from that of the film but both will be in the same genre. Sidhartha said, "The novels are interlinked with the films we are doing. The first film that will probably go into production is a horror-comedy, Shaadi of the Dead. We are targeting a particular genre and then introducing the genre to the audience through various platforms, in a phased manner." When asked about the foray in the publishing space, he said, "We are also getting into publishing content for the youth & kids. We want the reader to sample it [Graphic Novel] and enjoy the trippy treatment of the story. There are no Indian adult graphic novels in the market & this foray is a great way of getting into that space. In the kids' space, we will also be launching a picture-story book based on the novel & film 'Zudora'." Shaadi of the Dead, he said, is a youthful, funky horror-comedy. It will also incorporate a lot of visual and special effects (make-up, prosthetics, etc.). Talking about the projects underway, he said, "Ten per cent of our projects are animation. Fifty per cent are vfx-driven while the rest are pure live-action. The kinds of stories we are looking at require vfx & sfx as they belong to genres such horror, fantasy and adventure. Comedy and chick-flicks are also an integral part of our production slate. The budget of live-action movies will be in the range of Rs 3-6 crores, whereas that for vfx movies will be in the range of Rs10-40 crores." The company was founded by Manmohan Shetty, the founder and former CMD of Adlabs Films and ex-Adlabs head of animation & producer Sidhartha Jain in March 2008. iRock focuses on development of high concept and franchise worthy properties for feature films in both live action and animation. It is also working on an animated version of Andaz Apna Apna titled as Bananaz Apna Apna.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 14 Mar 2009 | 12:50 pm Little Zizou is a big winner - Livemint

The first to be bitten by the H-bug is the sexy Mumbaikar, Freida Pinto. Having won the hearts of many on the red carpets the world over, the sultry actress who is now linked with her Slumdog co-star Dev Patel is on the verge of signing her biggest date with fame. According to our sources from London, the 24 year old actress was first spotted by producers during the casting for Quantum of Solace. Hollywood's newest and the hottest property has arrived in the form of Pinto. What's more, Slumdog director Danny Boyle is now being asked to direct the next Bond film staring Daniel Craig. Now if everything falls in place at the right time, Freida's chances of staring along side the blonde Bond may just not look like a distant dream. Why? Because it's Danny on the director's chair who'll may recommend Freida. Our sources from the U.K have confirmed, "Freida came to the attention of the Bond team when they were casting for Quantum of Solace. She was too young at the time to have a part as a love interest for a secret agent. But she has blossomed into an incredibly stunning young woman and would look perfect in Daniel's arm. Even the executive producer Barbara Broccoli is eager for her to join the cast." India is already known in the cinema fraternity as the world's biggest movie making country, then came along Satyajit Ray and Bhanu Athaiya who took the Oscars, followed by A.R Rahman and Resul Pookutty this year. Whether or not Freida will win an Oscar is a long dream but if she lands a role opposite Craig, it'll be nothing short of an Oscar. That's not it. Freida has also become London's latest pin up girl. First it was Danny Boyle and now its actor director Woody Allen who has signed the Indian actress in his new untitled film, which also stars Naomi Watts, Josh Brolin and Sir Anthony Hopkins. After basking in the success of his latest film, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Allen is keen on signing our Indian temptress who is now termed as Woody's latest muse. The question is, will Freida Pinto attempt to conquer London after Woody's last three movies that were shot in the capital - Match Point, Scoop and Cassandra's Dream failed to live up to expectations? Will she be the lucky for Woody and Bond? Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 14 Mar 2009 | 11:39 am Has Mahesh Bhatt ghost-directed Jashn?Mahesh Bhatt who had taken retirement from film direction has apparently returned to it with Jashn. This move however was not by choice but out of despair. The buzz is that though the film is officially directed by Raksha Mistry and Hasnain S. Hyderabadwala, Apparently, Mahesh was displeased with the standard of direction and hence stepped in to save the film. Jashn which stars Adhyayan Suman and Anjana Sukhani has almost been completed, if that's not enough we hear that the Bhatt even edited the script of the film so as to make it more engaging. When Bollywood Hungama spoke to some reliable sources who are working on the film, they cleared stated the Mahesh Bhatt has directed Jashn. "Yes, Maheshji has directed the entire film. This happened as he was not happy with Raksha and Hasnain's work with the direction," said the source. While on the other hand when we contacted Raksha Mistry, she had a different story to tell. "That story is absolutely false. In fact I have received several messages from Maheshji saying that he has been misquoted. While as far as the direction is concerned, I did request Maheshji to help with a few scenes as they were highly emotional and who better than Bhatt saab to direct them," she stated. Further more, we also asked her about the changes in the script to which Raksha said, "The script will never be changed once the film has hit the floors and has completed so much. No normal person will do this, leave aside Maheshji changing the script." And were the music videos for the film have been directed by Mohit? "Yes, the music videos have been directed by Mohit as he is one of the best that I know of when it comes to making videos. This was a production decision that was arrived upon much before we even started the shoot. So at the end of it, Hasnain and I are still the directors of the film."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 14 Mar 2009 | 11:36 am Every scene in 'Videsh' is some woman's story: Preity ZintaBollywood actress Preity Zinta believes that every scene in her forthcoming release 'Videsh', a film about a battered Punjabi housewife in Canada, is some woman's story.Source: IndiaeNews.com: Bollywood News | 14 Mar 2009 | 11:30 am Rituparna Sengupta in Amol Palekar's next filmBengali actress Rituparna Sengupta, who stepped into Bollywood with "Main Meri Patni Aur Woh", is all set to make her presence felt with veteran actor Amol Palekar's directorial venture.Source: Entertainment News | 14 Mar 2009 | 11:28 am Indonesian dancer loves everything about IndiaDidik Nini Thowok is one of the most celebrated dancers of Indonesia.Source: Entertainment News | 14 Mar 2009 | 11:23 am
