The dialogues and scripts cannot be overstretched and, hence, have to be as compressed short so that the whole story gets conveyed," says Girish Dhamija, who is writing the dialogues and also co-writing the script of his first animation feature Ab Dilli Door Nahi (ADDN). Directed and produced by Nikhil Advani, the 3-D animation work for the film is being done at the Pune-based animation studios 'Krayon Pictures'. "Ab Dilli Door Nahi is about a realistic problem that involves animals and nature, where jungles are shrinking, thus, leaving hardly any place for animals," says Dhamija. The film, which traces the journey of animals from Mumbai to Delhi, revolves around a leopard family consisting of three members, namely Sultan (Suniel Shetty), Sultan's wife Begum (Urmila Matondkar) and the cub Yuvraj (Ayesha Takia). ADDN starts with a song sequence which portrays the leopard family as a 'happy family' that lives in Mumbai National Park. One day, a builder arrives on the scene and kills Sultan with further plans of construction in the park. Soon after this incident, a meeting is called at Kanheri Caves (an actual place in Mumbai National Park) where senior members of the herd decide to evacuate the place. This diktat is, however, objected to by Yuvraj, since he and his friends, have spent their whole life there and have loving memories of that place. This sequence marks the entry of a filmi parrot (Akshaye Khanna) who is a 'NRJ' (Non Resident Junglee), and has spent his life with the film fraternity in Mumbai. Discovered by a pigeon (who had earlier worked in Maine Pyar Kiya) and rescued by all the animals of the park, the parrot tells the herd about their rights and something called the 'Parliament', where all the key decisions are made. The rest of the film traces the journey of animals from Mumbai to the Parliament in Delhi, where the animals fight for their rights, finally leading to a favorable decision stopping all construction activities at the National Park. Boman Irani and Govinda have also done the voiceovers for a bear and monkey, respectively, in the film.Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 7 Mar 2009 | 3:52 pm Don't be obsessed with international awards: AnoushkaShe was awarded the House of Commons Shield in London and nominated for the Grammy awards in 2003.Source: Entertainment News | 7 Mar 2009 | 3:41 pm Want humour? Earlier during Dostana, I had a ball in Philadelphia. Now in Chicago around 14-15 people including my Naani, my aunts and my cousins would be on the sets to visit me. And luckily there was very little work for me. It was Hurman's character which is from Chicago." Priyanka was glad to have this chance to unwind. "I let Hurman do all the slogging. Source: Google News India - Entertainment | 7 Mar 2009 | 11:12 am Kylie Minogue gets into a sari for BlueKylie Minogue is not only shaking a leg for Blue, she's also fallen in love with all things Indian including Bollywood and the sari. Now it can be told. The reason why Akshay Kumar has been playing Kylie Minogue's unofficial host in Mumbai is because she is a huge Akshay Kumar fan. Says a source, "It started when Kylie watched Chandni Chowk To China. She was completely hooked to Akshay's antics. In fact one of her main incentives for accepting Blue was the opportunity to meet up with Akshay. When she decided to do the film and the date for her arrival was confirmed she made discreet inquiries about Akshay's schedules and his availability. She also wanted to go through the full India experience, including the khana, a wedding and of course the Taj Mahal and Jaipur -Rajashthan route." While some of his guests' primary prerequisites have already been worked out, Akshay is in the process of trying to work out the other details. Confirming Kylie's Akshay-centric attitude to Bollywood, the film's director Anthony D'Souza says, "Kylie is a big Bollywood buff. She has done her homework. She has seen lots of our movies. And she's a huge Akshay fan. She's seen lots of his films. I think she was at the premiere of Chandni Chowk To China in London. The comfort level between them comes from the fact that Kylie knows Akshay's work." She's also able to match steps with her Bollywood co-stars. Says Tony, "She gets the nuances perfectly correct. And she's very intelligent. I've shot with her for a week and I'm bowled over by her professionalism. And she's a fantastic performer." Kylie has no Hindi dialogues in Blue. But apparently she gets into a sari for a part of her song, though Tony isn't telling.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 7 Mar 2009 | 11:03 am Jade Goody's health worsens
Source: NDTV Entertainment News | 7 Mar 2009 | 10:58 am "This is the nth time I am being insulted by the staff of PVR cinemas" - Suchitra ...In one of the latest posts on her official blog, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi expresses her anger against PVR Cinemas. Following are the excerpts of her post: This is the nth time I am being insulted by the staff of PVR cinemas and I'm not going to take it any more. I will never step into one again-unless it is to slap one of their ridiculously rude ill mannered and hitlerish staff members or to plant a bomb to blow the place apart to smithereens. Thats how angry I am. The arsehole usher actually had the gall today to tell me to spit my chewing gum out before entering-its a rule he sniggered.I can understand not allowing cigarette lighters or other potentially hazardous stuff-in the past i have even had my daughters water bottle or my i pod or cigarettes taken out of my bag but have let it pass. I want to feel safe too and understand security checks But to be asked to spit out my chewing gum???? F&^%&^% off-i told him. I should have slapped him but I'm not the slapping type so I told him I didnt wish to see a film in a place that treated its customers so rudely and that I want my money back. And a written apology from your management for insulting me once again because of some twisted security policy you have that treats an average cinegoer like a third rate criminal or like they are doing us a favour by allowing us to watch a movie on their premises after we have paid ridiculously high ticket prices. I understand and respect security rules but why take yourself so seriously? One comes to a theatre for entertainment, for a good time out, not to be at the receiving end of a gurkha or gurkhini in uniform taking out all his/her life's frustrations on the cinegoer, empowered by the demented rules of the PVR policy. The manager then meekly explained that it was company policy-her hands were tied and there was nothing she could do. She was just following the company rules. Apparently, naughty people stick chewing gum in seats or under them-so the owner of the theatre chain had banned people from chewing gum on their premises!! So you ask a paying customer to spit out their chewing gum?i CAN UNDERSTAND TAKING OUT A PACKET OF CHEWING GUM FROM MY BAG BUT TO FORCE ME TO SPIT IT OUT? Even the staff at the Rashtrapati Bhavan or prime ministers office do not behave so high handedly. If they are so concerned about the cleanliness of their premises then why sell food inside? So they can show exaggerated collections of the movies they produce by including revenue from food and beverage collections and fool the trade by showing it in their gross profit? Why not spend some of this profit on upkeep of premises and maintaining cleanliness? Producing a movie on a slow learning child does not make you nice guys-Mr Bijli-regardless of how you want to fool the world. Your in-house policies suck and give you away for the tyrants and small minded people you are. They are many other theatre chains-far far superior in exhibition, in amenities and most of all in the conduct of their staff In the past, this kind of rude behaviour has happened repeatedly at the PVR in juhu mumbai where they used to take security more seriously than the national guard or the anti terrorist squad. The Juhu PVR has eased up considerably probably on account of the huge celebrity quotient that turns up there around whom they have learnt to behave and are now reasonably polite. This time around it was at The PVR at Korammagala in Bangalore. See, My book the Summer of Cool was officially launched in Bangalore on saturday -and i decided to take a day off to chill with my family and relax before getting back to the everyday grind in Mumbai. So we went to see a film this morning. We were asked to open our bags, frisked blah blah. All ok. Then the usher said we are not allowed to chew gum-i would have to spit out my chewing gum before entering the theatre. And he was very rude about it. Stood in front of me blocking my path, arms extended threateningly. When i said i dont want to see a film in a theatre that treats its honest paying customers like shit over and over again, they told me I can go stand outside and try to sell my tickets off!!Its only when i created a ruckus did they refund my money and i stormed off. WHy should i ever go and see a movie at PVR where I am insulted over and over again-when all other theatres are constantly wooing and welcoming customers and giving them a great cinema going experience? What is it that PVR offers that other theatres dont...besides insulting their customers over and over again? On the way home frothing at the mouth i discussed it with my sister who lives in Banglalore and with whom i had gone to the cinema hall with. She explained that the behaviour of the PVR staff (she has witnessed their rude behaviour in Mumbai too but its never been this bad) was also probably a trickle down effect of what was happening in the state of Karnataka and its political and social climate. The oppression of women in general. A fanaticism and hooliganism that is being fanned by radical fascist elements turning everybody into mini hitlers, knowing they can get away with it. Women are afraid of going out by themselves and visiting pubs malls etc because one is always unsure of what erupts. Everyday activities turn into a nightmare because some radical fanatic has got a stick up his bum and trying to tell woman how to walk talk dress and what not. So was the usher at PVR in Koramangala Bangalore provoked by the fact that i was in a strappy knee lenght dress? Did he feel threatened by what he considered inappropriately bold attire? After all two women were beaten up by radicals for wearing jeans in Bangalore last week... jeans are not an indian dress they were threatened. This after the mangalore pub incident and many more by goondas such as the Sri Ram Sena. Its a kind of mass hysteria thats spreading... just like Hitler convinced the whole of Germany that the jews were to be eliminated or the Taliban stones women who dont have their heads covered or are seen in public without a man. Ok I am on a rant. Maybe there is a connection or maybe there isnt. But excuse me...because I am really really pissed off. Angry about both. The PVR incident and everything else thats happening in my country and one of my favourite cities-Bangalore. Phew! Will go have some nimbu sharbat now to cool the flames of my fury down and breathe in breathe out and chant some mantras till i calm down Courtesy: http://www.suchitra.com/Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 7 Mar 2009 | 10:39 am Kids in Slumdog did the trick: Irrfan

Dinesh KumarSource: Oneindia.in - Entertainment | 7 Mar 2009 | 10:30 am Subhash K Jha speaks about Dhoondte Reh JaogeJohnny Lever playing a hardcore Paki-loving Muslim screenwriter in Bollywood sitting on a rooftop amidst a flurry of green flags narrating a script that's a sad mishmash of past blockbusters, could've been hilarious, if he wasn't part of a film that attempts to evoke mirth from the whims of the working class but ends up weak-kneed and washed-out with the effort. The characters in this quirky quick-mix comedy try to give you the formula for a flop film. Finally the characters end up making a hit film. If only the people behind Dhoondte Reh Jaoge were that lucky. It seems they set out to make a hit film by conceiving a plot about a totally zonked-out film unit which has set out to make a flop film. But the idea never quite gets beyond the wish list. The collection of characters who crowd the film's corny canvas seem to stand uncertainly at the threshold of a spectacular satire that never takes off. The cast seems to be in the mood for masti. And when you have the redoubtable Paresh Rawal helming the hilarity, what could go wrong? In theory, nothing. In practice everything goes wrong in the comic climate of this strange connivance about an out-of-luck producer (Paresh Rawal), and out-of-luck Chartered Accountant (Kunal Khemu) and a struggling actress (Soha Ali Khan). And if this trio reminds us of Rishi Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar and Konkona Sen Sharma in Zoya Akhtar's recent Luck By Chance, then blame the Bollywood setting banish the thought. If Luck By Chance was an insider's look at the film industry, Dhoondte Reh Jaoge is the wacko's dekko into blunder-land. No effort is made to understand the workings of the industry with satirical sensitivity. The laughter is the main criteria for entering the dream world of movie making. Sadly the laughs are few and far in-between. The Sholay and Lagaan spoofs give the humour an extremely wannabe appearance. Unintentionally bits and pieces of the satire merge into portions of Rangeela (wannabe actress falls in love with screen hero while her lover-boy from the chawls seethes in anger) which in turn merge into an Aziz Mirza kind of scooter-riding dreamers' part for Kunal Khemu. At the end of the comedy the Rawal-Khemu's intended flop turns into a super-hit while the duo lands up in jail. No such luck with this rather droopy and sad comedy. It tries hard to be funny and original. It just ends up being neither here nor 'dare'. Among the performers Paresh Rawal needs no recommendation. In fact he says as much in an end-title joke. Kunal Khemu reveals some hidden comic talent. Sonu Sood as a somewhat dimwitted matinee idol does a number of get-ups and avatars quite sincerely. Sorry, Sood isn't supported by anything much in the plot.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 7 Mar 2009 | 10:28 am Subhash K Jha speaks about Karma Aur HoliLet's play a mind game. What was Sushmita Sen thinking when she decided to work in this tableau of titillating possibilities on man-woman relationships all gone to utter and irrevocable waste? Karma Aur Holi with huge dollops of confession thrown in with the jerky suddenness of a car that decides to gather speed when the highway has ended, is one of those filmed fiascos that should've never been attempted. It's like a Woody Allen ensemble cast about an angst-filled soiree that comes to a sorry state of spluttering incoherence. The film does gross disservice to all concerned including the poor debutant director Manish Gupta who probably thought he was doing a diasporic version of Woody Allen's cinema but instead ended making up an extended episode of a Doordarshan serial on the vagaries of the Page 3 crowds. Sushmita and Randeep try hard to look like a couple with serious marital problems. He takes business calls while making love to her. Maybe he likes the phone better than sex. That's the least of our worries in trying to make sense of the characters' dissociated sensitivities. The film is about an outwardly well-to-do couple played by Sushmita and Randeep who are either showering together or shouting at each other, depending on which way their marital mood swings. One fine day, the couple invites home a group of people including a self-absorbed Pakistani filmmaker (Armin Amiri) and his pregnant girlfriend(Naomi Campbell) a bickering couple (Suresh Oberoi, Rati Agnihotri) and their porn-fixated teenage son, a repressed wife(Suchitra Krishnamurthy ) and her bullying husband. By the time the day is done, the lid is blown off the facade of suburban marriages in the Land Of Dreams. Sushmita playing a wife who dances with her maid in the kitchen while cooking (menu rab da vasta!) is more bothered about her swanky new dress being crumpled under sexual pressure than the fact that her husband might be having an affair with his over-sized secretary (Maya Lily). Sushmita shrugs off her sister warning. "Do you think they look like they're up to anything?" Frankly no one looks like he or she is up to anything. That's the saddest part of a film which wants to say so much. But the words perpetually get in the way. A few minutes into this mish-mash of Woody Allen, George Bernard Shaw, Govind Nihalani and Keshu Ramsay(the horror of course creeps in unintentionally) and you know the narrative is in trouble. The characters who come to Sushmita-Randeep's home in New York for an afternoon of heavy-duty gossiping, bitching introspection and confession seem to be speaking dialogues borrowed from a cheap American soap opera. The feelings and thoughts are not only assumed they are also devoid of any coherent pattern. The script tries to be sassy without the basic source material to carry off its ambitions. The narration is tragically chaotic. The characters seem to be let loose in a room constructed for conflict, and left to their own devices. Ideas of communal disharmony (Rati Agnihotri playing Suresh Oberoi's sourpuss wife refuses to accept a glass of water from a Muslim filmmaker) and inter-racial coupling (the Muslim director has Naomi Campbell as his girlfriend and punching bag) jostle for screen space with musings on a marriage of convenience in a foreign cultural location where opportunities to f**k - up are illimitable. Ironically the film itself becomes one messy f**k - up with the characters unaware of where to go next or what to do with the dubious responsibility of acting like people who care about the goings-on. There's a pubescent horny teenager who's hounded by a nosy girl (Deepal Shaw) with a video camera, a buxom single women who confesses she's more into women than men and a caricatural pair of American boss-and-bimbo cutting a shady deal with Hooda as wife Sushmita makes her displeasure more than clear. She even shuts the door in her guests' face. So much for reciprocating the American hospitality. Somewhere along the dreadful and droll storytelling a gangster pops up in the backyard pool with two floozies bouncing by his side as though they had just discovered the reason why they are part of this film. We of course remain clueless as to why Karma Aur Holi was made. Or why the actors who should've known better lent their presence to the film. While the international cast including Robert de Niro's daughter Drena remain supremely oblivious of their utility in the plot, Sushmita tries hard to lend some grace and humour to a character hell-bent on self-destruction. Another engaging performance comes from Suchitra Krishnamurthy as a repressed wife trying to make herself heard above her husband's bullying. Randeep Hooda carries his American accent and demeanor with a flair that scoffs at the film's cheerless efforts to portray the Indian diaspora as a chamber piece done on a pitchless off-key scale.Source: BollywoodHungama.com Features | 7 Mar 2009 | 10:19 am Kylie Minogue - big fan of Akshay KumarKylie Minogue is not only shaking a leg for Bollywood film Blue she’s also fallen in love with all things Indian including Bollywood and the sari. Well, the man who is undoubtedly a living example of this is none other than our today's Birthday boy Anupam Kher. He is the same man whose life's philosophy of 'Nothing in the world is useless as even a dead clock shows the right time twice a day' has inspired and touched many lives worldwide. Born to a very simple family of superlative values, the USP of Anupam Kher remains the fact that despite tasting magnanimous success in showbiz, he continues to have has his feet firmly planted on the ground. For starters, this legendary man started his Bollywood journey with the super exemplary role Mr. Pradhan in Saaransh, the classic film that remains unparallel till date. After that, the trend was that no film in Bollywood was considered 'complete' without this man's presence. Although each and every role of Anupam transforms itself into an 'Actor's Bible', Anupam will surely be remembered for his prominent roles in films like DDLJ, karma, Lamhe, Darr, Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Maara, A Wednesday... to say the least. Preity is right now in NZ to watch the cricket one-day series between India and New Zealand. But in the meanwhile, she was invited by their Prime Minister John Key for an evening reception. "I have just come out of the reception. It was really a pleasure meeting the man, who is so down to earth and I hear extremely popular," says the actress. Apparently, Mr. John and Preity discussed cricket for most of the time. Preity adds that she was extremely concerned for the Sri Lankan team when they were attacked in Pakistan. "I have been in touch with the boys from my team- Kumar Sangakara and Mahela Jayawardene, and they are fine. My prayers are with those boys," she said. Further talking about the incident, she said, "It's a sad day for cricket and sports in general. I am deeply shocked at what has happened and I strongly condemn these attacks. My sympathies are with the team and I hope they emerge out of this stage." Certain New Zealand cricketers have expressed their concern over safety issues during the IPL. However, sources close to her say that, "Preity explained and convinced the NZ PM about the how safe India was and how capable the Indian forces are in providing security to the teams."Source: BollywoodHungama.com News | 6 Mar 2009 | 4:32 pm Shilpa breaks the ice with Preity
